NOUN
Noun is the name of a person, place, thing, idea
and animal etc.
Nouns act as a subject in a sentence.
It encompasses most of the words of a
language..
Person – A name for a person: - Harshit, Julie, Aditya, Adya, Bob, etc.
Place – A name for a place: - India, Armenia, Agra, Park, School, etc.
Thing – A name for a thing: - bat, ball, chair, door, house, computer, etc.
Idea – A name for an idea: - devotion, superstition, happiness, excitement, etc.
Animal – A name for an animal: - dog, cat, cow, kangaroo, etc.
Pronoun
PRONOUN
Pronoun is a word that is used in place of
a noun or a noun phrase:
Pronouns are often used to avoid repetition
of a noun that has already been mentioned.
For example:
They went to their village.
I want this book.
He runs very fast .
You can do anything.
Verb
VERB
A verb is derived from the Latin word “verbum” means
a word that conveys an action, an occurrence or a
state of being.
Verbs are the action words in a sentence that
describe what the subject is doing.
For example:
Children are playing in the park.
I read this book.
He runs very fast .
They both are sleeping.
Adverb
ADVERB
For example:
Children are playing happily in the
park.
I am reading this book attentively.
He runs very fast .
They are sleeping comfortably.
Adjective
Adjectives are words that are used to
describe or modify nouns or pronouns. For
example, red, quick, happy, and obnoxious
are adjectives.
It normally indicates quality, size, shape,
duration, feelings, contents etc.
For Example:
She wore a beautiful saree.
Tom is an adorable baby.
This bottle is breakable.
Preposition
A preposition indicates the relationship between a noun and the
other words of a sentence.
They act to connect the people, objects, time and locations of a
sentence.
Prepositions are usually short words.
They are normally placed directly in front of nouns.
For Example:
•She sat on the bench.
•There is some juice in the jug.
•The cat jumped off the bed.
•I lost my shoes at the beach.
•They were sitting by the tree.
Conjunction
CONJUNCTION
Conjunctions are used to join clauses, phrases,
and words together for constructing sentences.
Conjunctions make a link between/among
words or groups of words to other parts of the
sentence and show a relationship
between/among them.
Example:
•Aadi and Adya are playing together.
•Adya plays well, but Aadi plays better than her.
•I play cricket, and Harshit plays football.
•When she was sick, I went to see her.
Interjection
INTERJECTION
An interjection is a kind of exclamation inserted into
regular speech. Actually, it is a brief and abrupt pause in
speech for expressing emotions.
Interjections are unique and have some interesting
features:
•Interjections don’t have a grammatical function in
the sentence construction.
•They usually cannot be modified or inflected.
•They do not have to have a relation to the other parts of
the sentence.
•They are highly context-sensitive.
Example:
•Aadi and Adya are playing together.
•Adya plays well, but Aadi plays better than her.
•I play cricket, and Harshit plays football.
•When she was sick, I went to see her.
