Black panthers are actually leopards or jaguars with a genetic mutation that causes black pigmentation in their fur. They live across Africa, Asia, and Central and South America. Black panthers are solitary and stealthy carnivores that prey on medium-sized mammals like deer, antelopes, and monkeys.  There are several Panther species which all have different scientific names. This
group of cats includes the Florida panther which is known as felis concolor
coryi scientifically and the Black Panther known as Panthera pardus. Other
animals in this group are tigers, lions, jaguar and the leopard.
