INTRODUCTION
 Soil testing is a special chemical analysis that provides a guideline
for lime and fertilizer needs of soils when considered in
conjunction with post-fertilizer management and cropping history.
 A soil test is the analysis of a soil sample to
determine nutrient and contaminated content, composition, and
other characteristics such as the acidity or pH level. A soil test can
determine fertility, or the expected growth potential of the soil
which indicates nutrient deficiencies, potential toxicities from
excessive fertility and inhibitions from the presence of non-
essential trace minerals.
CURRENT STATUS:
DETERMINATION OF SOIL pH:
INTERPRETATION
R
RESULT:- Sample 1. (from sliet) pH value – 8.39
sample 2.(from sangrur field) pH – 8.17
pH Category Recomendation
Below 6.5 Acidic Requires liming for
reclamation
6.5-8.7 Normal Optimum for most crops
8.2-9.3 Alkaline Requires application of
organic manures
Above 9.3 Alkali (sodic) Requires gypsum
DETERMINATION OF ELECTRICAL
CONDUCTIVITY OF SOIL
INTERPRETATION :
RESULT : Sample 1.(sliet)-E.C = .65 dS/m, and %of salt concentration = 0.05
sample2. (sangrur field) E.C= .65 dS/m & % of soil concentration=0.05
EC 1:2 Soil concentration (%) Category
Below 0.8 Below .05 Normal
0.8-1.6 0.05-0.15 Critical for salt sensitive
crops
1.6-2.5 0.15-0.20 Critical for salt tolerant
crops
Above 2.5 0.20-0.25 Injurious to all crops
Determination of carbon matters in
soil
INTERPRETATION:
RESULT: Sample 1(sliet)- carbon matter %=0.90
Sample 2 (sangrur field)-carbon matter %=0.47
Organic carbon (%) Soil rating
Below 0.40 low
0.40-0.75 Medium
Above 0.75 High
DETERMINATION OF PHOSPHOROUS IN
SOIL
INTERPRETATION:
RESULT-Sample 1.(Sliet) :- available P=8.0 kg/acre
sample 2.(sangrur field) available P= 8.2 kg/acre
Available phosphorous (kg/acre) Catogory
Below 5 low
5-9 Medium
9-20 High
Above 20 Very high
