2. The University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge are the two
most prestigious and oldest universities in the English Speaking World.
They are attended by the smartest, often wealthiest people, not just
from the UK, but also around the World.
Together, the universities
are known as Oxbridge.
3. Oxford
Oxford is a town in central
southern England, famous for
it´s architecture with old
fashioned, church like buildings.
The university itself is the oldest university in the English-speaking

Oxford, in central southern England. It´s famous for its cobbled
streets, chapels and gardens.
It also has a large river

Oxford and studied Medieval Russian!
Dress Code
In Oxford and Cambridge
universities, you have to
look smart all of the time.
People wear shirts, ties,
blazers and shoes to
attend lectures and
classes.
6. The people
The people who attend
Oxford and Cambridge
are mostly from very
rich backgrounds. They
attended private schools
like Eton, and have
family wealth.
People say they can be
pretentious and out of
touch with the rest of
UK. They are
stereotyped as a bit
geeky.
7. Famous people
Many famous people have attended these two
universities. 26 British prime ministers went to
Oxford (including David Cameron), Rowan Atkinson
(Mr Bean!), Stephen Hawking and even former USA
president Bill Clinton. In Cambridge, Sacha Baron-
Cohen, and Thandie Newton.
8. Boat Race
Every year, there´s a boat race between the Cambridge and Oxford
universities. The competitors have to be at these universities, but can be of
any nationality and sometimes even Olympians have competed. Often it´s
Americans on either side.
