Case Study
Zigbee Sensor Hardware
 Design the hardware, firmware and board diagnostics software(BSP).
 The core board is built around F1611 Micro controller from TI’s MSP430 family. MSP430F1611 is an Ultra Low power micro controller and
consists of several peripheral interfaces targeted for various applications.
 The architecture, combined with five low power modes is optimized to achieve extended battery life in portable measurement
applications.
Superheat Controller
 Design Superheat controller firmware and software for monitoring an d managing configuration.
 A refrigeration unit runs at highest energy efficiency when the superheat of the refrigerant is maintained close to 0 degrees C at the exit
of the evaporator of the refrigeration system. The goal of the superheat controller is to control superheat at a given target set point,
often near 0 degrees C, by modulating a variable orifice silicon expansion valve (SEV).
 Designed BLDC Motor Controller to sense temperature and occupancy.
 Objective to replace the AC motors normally used in applications like refrigerator, washing machines, fans etc with a smaller, low power
Brushless DC motors (BLDC) which would provide 20-30% saving in power.
 The solution consists of three parts, the controller board, power supply board and remote controller.
 The controller is designed around Renesas R8C controller and the remote controller around Renesas M34286.
 The power supply is single output 24V/3A switch mode power supply operating from 90-260V AC.
BLDC Motor Controller
Case Study: Data Acquisition Card & Gateway for Industrial Application
The main board receives machine parameters from various sensors through ADC. After processing the data, the MCU sends the desired information to user over
10/100 Ethernet. The main board is powered by external AC-DC adapter (230V AC to 12Vdc/1A /UL approved). The daughter board receives machine
parameters/status information from sensors (analog, digital and pulse) outputs of machines. The received signals pass through isolator and level shifters. The
outputs of isolator and level shifters are fed to MCU via board to board connector. Daughter board is powered by external 24VDC

Case Study: ATM Monitoring & Control
 For air conditioning - monitor the temperature on and off status and working condition
of the AC Unit
 For light fixtures - Mange and monitor Internal lightings and control them based on
light level inside the ATM
 For name board - Lights - automatic switching and monitoring the name board sign
lights outside the ATM.
 For housekeeping - Any housekeeping person visit is monitored and ensured that the
house keeping happened by a switch before and after doing the work execution
 For Cash loading - Same as house keeping
 Ups Charge Discharge and related monitoring
 Main power on and off
The sensors are as follows:
ATM centres are mostly monitored for the ATM machine, but ATM maintenance is not monitored.
This POC aims at managing and remote monitoring of the ATM centres.
Hardware – To retrofit and manage the Remote A/C control and IO daughter board It also provides
runtime control of Air Conditioning and Managing lightings based on pre-set criteria.
Case Study: Automatic Ride Capture System
ARCS – is a project that aims at capturing roller coaster
moments and customer experience while they are on the
roller coaster. Precise triggering of the camera has to be
ensured to capture right moments. The triggering varies
based on the speed and position of the camera fixed for the
Roller coaster rides.
 The device is configured via REST API’s for operational parameters.
 The block diagram shows the overall system architecture with S1, S2, S3 and S4
being sensor inputs (IP). Flash and Camera Outputs triggered via controller.
 System has an Ethernet interface to interact with the other system and is used
for configuration, reporting and remote management.
 USB and JTAG ports are used for burning the new firmware image on to the ARCS
controller hardware board.
 A group of similar controllers are managed from a centralized location.

Accelerator: TR069
One of the challenges operators will face is to maintain quality,
consistency, and reliability of services to Enterprise M2M customers.
Telco operators are turning to remote management of CPE and soon
M2M devices to provision and manage advanced services while reducing
support costs and customer churn.
TR-069, the Broadband Forum’s CPE WAN management protocol, is now the
de-facto standard for remote CPE management. TR-069 provides standardized
remote device management for residential gateways and other devices. It
provides the necessary framework for efficient, scalable and secure
provisioning, to support a wide variety of broadband services.
ACL offers a TR-069 Client based on CPE WAN Management Protocol, a software component that can be
easily integrated with devices like residential gateways, Set Top boxes, Femtocell devices and other home
networking devices to make the devices remotely manageable from an Auto Configuration Server.

Case Study: Identify Propensity For a Patient Re-admission
Business Problem : A healthcare facility wants to identify a patient's chance of getting
re-admitted upon discharge within 30 days. Patient readmission is one of the
parameter used to evaluate the quality of the hospital care.
Benefits: Clinicians can be prepared to provide better post-discharge care for patients
who are likely to get re-admitted. Hospitals can avail benefits from Government and
avoid enquiries from Insurance companies. Rates of 80% or lower are considered
optimal by the agencies. Hence it is necessary to predict and take actions to reduce
readmission.
Project Highlights
 Identify the Predictors. Several direct and indirect parameters can also be reason for readmission. It could be related to the previous
visit or some unplanned readmission which are not preventable.
 Process the Datasets & Refine the dataset for building Model/Analysis. Discarding noisy and heterogeneous data with hundreds of
relevant yet sometimes correlated attributes.
 Identify suitable Algorithm
o Gradient Boosting
o Random Forest
 Build/Evaluate the Model. Distributive query processing was performed through Hive and it enabled important quality metrics to be
developed across different dimensions.
 Data Visualization
o .csv is converted into JSON format
o Displayed using Alten Calsoft Labs UI framework
 Data for analysis - 421 readmissions within 30 days; Prediction on a scale of 0.77 was achieved.

Case Study: IdentifyPropensity For a Patient Re-admission Business Problem : A healthcare facility wants to identify a patient's chance of getting re-admitted upon discharge within 30 days. Patient readmission is one of the parameter used to evaluate the quality of the hospital care. Benefits: Clinicians can be prepared to provide better post-discharge care for patients who are likely to get re-admitted. Hospitals can avail benefits from Government and avoid enquiries from Insurance companies. Rates of 80% or lower are considered optimal by the agencies. Hence it is necessary to predict and take actions to reduce readmission. Project Highlights  Identify the Predictors. Several direct and indirect parameters can also be reason for readmission. It could be related to the previous visit or some unplanned readmission which are not preventable.  Process the Datasets & Refine the dataset for building Model/Analysis. Discarding noisy and heterogeneous data with hundreds of relevant yet sometimes correlated attributes.  Identify suitable Algorithm o Gradient Boosting o Random Forest  Build/Evaluate the Model. Distributive query processing was performed through Hive and it enabled important quality metrics to be developed across different dimensions.  Data Visualization o .csv is converted into JSON format o Displayed using Alten Calsoft Labs UI framework  Data for analysis - 421 readmissions within 30 days; Prediction on a scale of 0.77 was achieved. Solution Details • Hortonworks HDP • Ambari • Hive, MapReduce • Python, R • Gradient Boosting • Random Forest algorithm • Scikit-Learn Tool • REST API • ACL UI Framework Tools and Algorithm Used
