Lim Bo Seng was a war hero from China who came to Singapore to study. He helped raise funds to support China in its war against Japan and encouraged people to boycott Japanese goods. During World War 2, he set up an anti-Japanese group called Force 136 that secretly brought in supplies for soldiers fighting in Singapore and Malaya.

2. About him Lim Bo Seng was born in Fujian, china. He was born on 27 th April His family owned a biscuit factory and brick manufacturing factories in Singapore. He came to Singapore in 1917to study at Raffles Institution than went into the University of Hong Kong to further his studies. To be continued.

3. Continued……. His father died two years later. Because of his fathers death, he had to return to Singapore. He was described as ‘a perfect gentleman and a family man’ by one of his friends. Lim Bo Seng was actively involved in raising fund to help China in the war against Japan in 1937.He also encouraged the people to boycott Japanese goods.

4. What did he do to help Singapore? On 11 th February 1942, Lim Bo Seng left his family in the care of his wife. He did so as to continue his work against the Japanese in Malaya. In mid 1942, Lim Bo Seng and the Allied Supreme Commander, Captain John Davis, set up the Malayan branch of Force 136.It s an anti-Japanese group that operated in the jungles of Malaya during World War 2.Force 136 secretly brought in doctors, medical supplies, food and ammunition for the soldiers fighting in Singapore and Malaya.
