Greece our country1
Greece is located in southern Europe between Albania, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, and Turkey. It has the longest coastline in the Mediterranean and traces its roots back to ancient Greek civilization. Considered the cradle of Western civilization, Greece was the birthplace of democracy, philosophy, drama, and other cultural achievements. Today, Greece remains beautiful with mountains, villages, rivers, lakes, islands, and beaches and has produced many renowned writers, poets, composers, and painters throughout history.
Who we are
This document contains introductions from students in the 7th grade class at the 55th primary school in Nikaia, Greece. Each student states their name and says hello. There are 17 students who introduce themselves, sharing their first names which include Angel, Maria, Athina, Andrew, Antony, Diamantis, Antonis, Irida, Maria, Betty, Nantia, Natalie, David, Panagiotis, Panos, Pantelis, and Raul.
Greece, our country
Greece is located in southern Europe and is known for being the cradle of Western civilization. Greece was the birthplace of democracy, philosophy, drama, and other aspects of culture. Today, Greece remains beautiful with mountains, villages, rivers, lakes, islands, and beaches and is still producing great writers, poets, composers, and painters.
Handmade christmas cards
The Greeks decorate Christmas boats as a tradition that originated from their strong connection to the sea. For many Greek families, the father and/or son worked as sailors, risking their lives on the waves to support their family. The small boats symbolized families' hopes for reuniting with loved ones and represented gratitude for the protection of Saint Nicolas, the patron saint of sailors. Children would carry the decorated boats and sing carols. Though Christmas trees have become more common in Greece since the 1800s, the custom of adorning boats continues among fishing and sailing communities.
Alexis Akrithakis Famous Greek Artist
Alexis Akrithakis was a Greek artist born in 1939 who was considered one of the most important artists in Greece. He had an unconventional style using bright colors, geometric shapes, and recurring symbols like suitcases. Akrithakis often used unconventional materials in his work and moved between Greece and Berlin throughout his career. He helped establish modernism in Greek art and created a unique visual mythology through his imaginative works before passing away in 1994.
