Introduction to Electronics & Communication
Engineering
• One of the top most branches in engineering. Simply it is called as
ECE.
• It is a combination of Electronic engineering and Communication
engineering.
• This branch includes the basics of Electronics, like transistors, FET's,
the IC's, the various circuit laws etc. It also includes the subjects
related to communication like radio waves, how they travel in space,
topics related to how exactly the signals are traveling from the
transmitter to receiver, it also has contents related to antennas, Radar,
Satellite, Mobile etc.

Career Prospects in ECE
• Electronics has a major role in improving productivity in
industries like oil, energy, agriculture and so many other
important sectors of economy.
• In steel, petroleum and chemical industries, it is the
electronic devices that direct, control and test
production processes.
• Health care industry depends on electronic instruments
to perform chemical tests and to check body functions.
• The safety in transportation, factories, mines and in
homes rely heavily on electronics.

Innovative Developments in Electronics
Engineering
• 2-D Electronics
Many 2-D Materials such as Graphene have the potential to change electronics,
allowing for miniaturization, higher performance and cost reduction. Several
companies around the globe, including Samsung and Apple, are developing
applications based on Graphene.
• Organic electronics
Several high-tech companies, including LG Electronics and Samsung, have
invested in cheap and high-performance organic-electronic devices (e.g. OLED).
It is expected that the organic electronics market will grow rapidly in the coming
years.
• Spintronics
So far this technology is in the early development stage and, irrespective of
intense research, we have to wait a couple of years to see the first commercial
spin-based electronic chip.
