SCOT stands for Self-directed Courses with Online TeacherThis presentation will discuss an innovative project, which, unlike the Virtual School model, is a cooperative effort of the 12 francophone school boards in Ontario.This project, an initiative of the 12 FLSB and managed by the CFORP is subsidized by the Ministry of Education. Each board supplies one subject specialist teacher, and students from all boards may take courses from any of these teachers in an online environment.Students also have the benefit of a support teacher in their local school.This model is exportable/replicable in other jurisdictions.<number>

Ontario: 12 millions +72 English School boards/37 schools authorities3 712 English Elementary schools – 1.3 millions students796 English Secondary schools – 684 milles studentsGrade 13 is eliminated, new curriculum for secondary schools, 273 new coursesSAMFO: Provincial online learning project managed by the CFORP for the 12 FLSB. CFORP is a producer of pedagogical ressources for French schools and a multi-services centre in Education, based in Ottawa.<number>

The e-learning strategy supports many of Ontario's other learning initiatives and priorities, including the following:Student Success Strategy : This $1.3 billion strategy aims to increase the graduation rates in Ontario high schools to 85% by 2010–11 through various means, including high-quality online learning.Learning to 18: This initiative provides more flexibility for students to complete their studies and will increase the number of students who graduate from secondary school. Literacy and Numeracy Strategy: Recognizing that strong literacy and numeracy skills are the foundation for success in school and in life, this strategy focuses on improving student achievement through a range of initiatives, including e-learning resources and remedial opportunities. Rural Student Success Program: This program provides students in small, rural, and isolated schools with equitable access to diverse courses and resources, including those accessible through e-learning.High Skills Major: The branch responsible for developing the HSM has engaged eLO to partner in the delivery of this program.Aboriginal Education: The branch responsible for supporting Native Studies and Native Languages teachers has engaged eLO to partner in the delivery of this program. Politique d’Aménagement linguistique: A policy for Ontario's French-language schools and francophone community supported by AEO. French-language education in Ontario is much more than 'the curriculum in French'. The province's francophone community looks to its schools to protect, transmit, and enhance French language and culture.<number>
