Faculty and students can both benefit from producing MOOCs if universities provide clear support, adequate resources, and flexible self-managed teams focused on strategic goals and effectiveness rather than efficiency. Producing MOOCs allows faculty and students to shine internationally, be pioneers in a new area, and gather valuable usage data, but also requires accepting some uncertainty.
