Even with the definitions readily available, I had trouble completing exercise set 2.10; I responded incorrectly to three out of the ten problems
that we went over in class. The only definition types that I was sure about were those that were persuasive; the humorous definition of logic at
least gave me a chuckle to help relieve my stress. Moving on to the discussion on deductive reasoning, the text was somewhat confusing in that it
discusses conflicting definitions used by different logicians. Since evidently even professional logicians differ on topics such as what constitutes a
deductive argument or whether a disjunction is inclusive or exclusive, I can assume that a five week course will only touch on the tip of the
iceberg. When I looked at exercise set 8.2, I was totally lost. Although I had little problem rewriting the conditional in standard form, I was baffled
as to whether the conditional was true or false and the even answers in the book did not include that aspect of the problem. However, after class and
further work on truth tables, I believe I was able to correct my answers. I spent about an hour rewriting the problem concerning the postal regulation;
it was completely frustrating to know which letter type would have to be turned over to ensure postal requirements were met and yet not to be able to
decide on the proper form of the argument and whether the antecedent or consequent was involved in the decision making. I must admit that I was

The four techniques mentioned undoubtedly reduces the length of time you spend on reading, but you 've got to know when to use it and when
not to. Skimming involves locating the main idea of a text. Once located, this main idea would give you an overview for the supporting statements
that you would have to read afterwards. Remember that skimming is used only when your purpose for reading allows you to read for general
concepts rather than specific information (McWhorter, 453). If you already know the text that you are about to read, then apply scanning. Aside
from going directly to what you need, other words that pass through your scanning fingertips would somehow flash to your brain. Thus, you are
exposed to the other information of the text. Glancing may be used to detect organizational pattern of a text as you basically go over the text in no
particular order. Lastly, you could skip some parts of a text because either you feel that it is not too relevant or you already know the details of what is
being discussed. There are two things that we need to possess to get things going: motivation and self–discipline. Motivation gives you the drive to
pursue what is needed to be done. It eliminates negative thoughts that hinder the fulfilment of your goals. Self–discipline, on the other hand, is the
controlling factor to your pursued objective. If motivation gives you the head start, self–discipline helps you continue what you have started.

Despite its global recognition and status, Apple Inc. has come under scrutiny in recent years. Criticism concerning Apple's unethical labour conditions
(causing both physical and emotional distress to employees) on a considerable number of occasions has led to this. Unethical labour conditions has not
been an isolated incident, rather a disapprovingly common occurrence for such a well–regarded global brand.
It was a decade ago when the Mail on Sunday claimed Apple's Chinese factory workers were working under sweatshop conditions, and that the iPod
factory workers had 60 hour weeks (Heffernan 2013). Apple examined this allegation by making efforts to certify that conditions were passable by
company standards (Heffernan 2013).
The company appeared to be raising standards slowly– audits of all supplier's labour conditions were made; relationships with non–complying suppliers
