OLAP operations include slicing, dicing, drilling, and pivoting. Slicing selects along one dimension of a multidimensional cube. Dicing selects along two or three dimensions of the cube. Drilling involves switching between aggregated and detailed levels within a classification hierarchy, such as drilling up from months to quarters or drilling down from quarters to months. Pivoting rotates the data access to provide an alternative representation, such as transforming a 3D visualization into a 2D format.
