The Oculus Rift is a virtual reality headset developed by Oculus VR. It has a high resolution display and tracking sensors that allow for fully immersive VR experiences. To function, it must be connected to a powerful gaming PC. The Rift is targeted at gaming, media consumption, and professional applications. Oculus is releasing motion controllers called Touch to provide hand presence in VR. Custom software handles rendering and allows content to be accessed through the Oculus Home environment. However, virtual reality still has limitations in audience popularity, developer support, health and safety issues, and comfort of prolonged use.
