1) In 1949, Prime Minister Liaquat Ali Khan introduced the Objectives Resolution in the Constituent Assembly, which outlined principles for Pakistan's future constitution based on Islamic ideology rather than European models. 2) The Resolution proclaimed that sovereignty belongs to God alone, but is delegated to the state through the people, and that the constitution would ensure democracy, equality, social justice and freedom as described in the Quran and Hadith. 3) It also guaranteed fundamental rights and an independent judiciary, and that Pakistan would be a federation that protects religious freedom and culture for minorities.
