• Oat rank 6th in the world cereal production following wheat ,maize
,rice ,barley ,and ,sorghum.
• The cultivation of oats in India is widely done in Haryana and Punjab.

• Oats used both as fodder and grain.
• They good source of protein, fibers and minerals.
• Most of the oat grain is consumed as animal feed.
• Oats hull, a food processing by product, may be used as an animal feed,
fuel for power plants.
• Oats hulls are basic raw material in the production of furfural, such as
nylon lubrication oils etc.

• Oat is a cool climate crop. They do not grow well in hot dry conditions.
• The ideal temperature range for growing oats is between 15°C and 20°C (59°F to
