The document presents the results of an experimental study that tested reinforced concrete beams with circular openings strengthened with carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) sheets. Five beams were cast for the study, with one solid beam as a control and one beam with a circular opening as another control. The remaining three beams had circular openings strengthened with different CFRP schemes: around the opening, inside the opening, and both around and inside. When tested, the strengthened beams showed increased load capacity compared to the non-strengthened beam with an opening, with strengthening both around and inside providing the greatest increase in load capacity of 55.32%. The study concluded that CFRP strengthening is effective at improving load capacity of beams with openings.
