Dehydration
Water makes up more than half of the human body and is required for our cell systems to
properly perform their necessary functions. Dehydration occurs when more water is lost than
what is being taken in. Making sure we have the proper amount of fluids in our cells is vital to
ensuring our bodies are able to properly perform their essentially necessary functions. Water acts
like a cleanser, helping with the removal of harmful waste and possible deadly toxins. Our blood,
which is made primarily of water, is responsible for carrying many nutrients to nearby waiting
cells. Our immune system, which contains a fluid called lymph, is also made of water. If our
immune system is affected by dehydration, it stops working properly and our body... Show more

Our bodies can obtain water from most foods or liquids we consume, but pure water is best.
Alcohol is known to affect the levels of hydration within human cells through its diuretic effects.
The more alcohol an individual consumes, the more water is removed from the body through the
individuals frequent need to urinate. Caffeine is also a known diuretic, but its effects on hydration
levels are believed to be minimal.
The symptoms of dehydration vary from person to person, with factors such as age and weight
playing a role in how a person responds to the effects dehydration on their individual body. Adults
will respond differently to the symptoms of dehydration than children will. When children and
infants become sick they may suffer from vomiting, diarrhea, or increased urination, therefore their
bodies require their electrolyte levels be restored in an attempt to prevent the effects of dehydration.
Drinks such as Pedialyte are infused with sodium and potassium, much like many sports drinks are
higher in electrolytes than pure water. The major difference between electrolyte juices such as
Pedialyte and sports drinks are pediatric juices are generally not loaded with additional sugars.
Preventing the effects of dehydration during hot weather requires an individual to increase their
intake of fluids. Moderate to heavy exercise can

The Battle Of The Sea
The sea roiled as waves lapped hungerly against the approaching Snekke class long ship. It s
sanguine stripped sail flowed eagerly in the strong breeze. Lightning split the sky with bolts of
terrifying power. The ionic cleansing of the air bringing about a sense of change and clarity before
a storm of a different nature began.
Thor is pleased with us! Listen to how he works his anvil! The god s are with us today!
The giant warriors aboard the ship roared in agreement thrusting fist and axe into the sky. Not all
of them were men, about a quarter were women who stood nearly six feet tall. In the Norse
Germanic pagan society, women were equal to men and were not denied the chance to find glory
on the battlefield. To the Danes, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All fifty raiders grabbed their great circular wooden shields off the sides of the boat, and leapt over
the side with sword and axe in hand. Leif stood before them, his glacier blue eyes alive with the
might of the gods.
Fight as if it were your last! The All Father is with us! Our families at home await our triumphant
return just as much as our ancestors look forward to sharing ale with us in Valhalla! Show no fear
to these Westerners as they are but frightened deer before us! Protect the brother beside you and
fight with honor!
With that Leif started slapping the head of his axe against the metal dome which rested in the
center of his shield. When the other Norse men did the same, it created an intimidating beat of war.
They approached the village in a shield wall formation, in five columns. The men in front carried
pilums to skirmish with, while the hirdman made up the middle. A few huscarls who joined them
took up the flank of the brigade, each of them holding a two handed Dane axe, capable of crushing
through both shield and armor alike.
The distant bell of alarm began to sound. No doubt they were spotted before reaching the shore.

The National Football League And Its Effect On Society
The National Football League was created in September, 1920 and has since influenced America
not only economically but personally as the sport s dangers are slowly unmasked. The National
Football League has been covering up the corruption that has been going on for many decades
and as people begin to dig, many hidden truths are beginning to be uncovered. When people think
about the NFL, they are reminded of the sport that many have loved so much but little does our
society realize the major economic effects that the NFL has on America. Not all of us realize how
much of our tax dollars go towards new football stadiums, the massive parking lots used for games,
and the football players themselves. The National Football Leagueclaims to be nonprofit, yet it is
clear that it is far from that. In addition to the economic effects, it also has a more personal
impact on our lives as more research is showing the health hazards of playing football. The
multiple head traumas that football players get leads to chronic conditions such as CTE, a newer
diagnosis, which causes many players to experience symptoms such as brain deterioration,
suicidal thoughts and ultimately death. Many parents put their kids in a football league starting at
a very young age but are unaware of the dangers they are exposing their children to.There have
been several cases of sudden deaths from young players including Andre Jackson, a football player
from Ohio High School who died suddenly two days after

Writing Programs On A Block Programming Environment
I am writing to find out whether writing programs in a block programming environment is more
effective compared to a high level language. I will look at both block programming
environments and high level languages by researching and explaining what each of them are
but also by giving examples of programs made using them and by focusing on both the
advantages and disadvantages of writing programs in these ways. I will compare the two
together and decide whether they are suited to complex or simple situations and also as well as
this will look at whether the programmer needs knowledge on how to create a program using
them. Computer languages are used to create programs and are set of instructions which the
computer uses to run a program. There are a lot of computer languages however, they all have
different features. One of them is high level language. The advantage of using high level
language is that it s person friendly, so humans can understand it easily as it s written in text
which means that it s also easier to write and maintain. High level language is also portable and
can work across different CPU families and as well as this it supports a wide range of data types.
An another advantage of using it is that it programs faster and takes less time to code. A
disadvantage of using high level language to program is that it needs to be translated into machine
code before it can be executed so that the CPU can run it as computers only use and understand
binary data. This can

Portrayal Of Women In The Film Mulan
Disney tends to take stories changing them for today s audience. Disney films are just one example
of fictional texts. Fictional texts including the 1998 film Mulan, contains fictional content however

feminine tasks. In the film Mulan, it portrays an accurate role of women in society and the
household, but incorrect when examining women in warfare. The role of women in Ancient China
was to stay home completing ladylike activities. Women stayed home doing domestic jobs.

In the image, one lady is looking after children, two are doing calligraphy, one is dancing and

continued to be a part of the modern world, changing as technology was introduced. The film
Mulan does not contain all of this information, making Mulan a fictional source. Mulan is
reliable regarding women s role in the household, but unreliable with women in warfare. In the
film, Disney emphasises the punishment of women participation in warfare. In figure 2 when
Mulan and her father argue is reliable because she spoke out towards her father. This is supported
by words of mother of Mencius, stating she must submit to her parents. (Ebrey, P.B 1993) Women

Summary Of The Heavy Wooden Door Abruptly
Slam! The heavy wooden door abruptly halts producing a shockwave composed of eight years of
anger and grief. Nora turns around. With a mindless mechanical movement, she trudges through
the dense snow. Nora follows the footprints that lie ahead of her. The snow is so deep that she
barely manages to keep her stockings half dry. The darkness quickly consumes Nora. Her sense
of direction is guided only by faint footprints, and a lambent lantern. Nora is all alone. As Nora
crests the hill, she looks one last time at her estate. Nora can faintly see Torvald s outline in the
sitting room, frozen like a painting in time. Resolutely, she turns her body and makes her way
down the steep slope. The wind whips at Nora s face as it crinkles her clothes and flaps her hair.
With a sense of freedom, Nora skips down the hill with joy like a young bird experiencing flight
for its first time. She falls. Nora s hair and dress are littered with thick clumps of snow. She
tumbles down the hill and slides across the frozen Nytt Liv stream into a soft snowbank. Slightly
shaken, Nora outwardly exclaims, Oh dear! I do have a lot to learn! Nora continues to navigate
her way through the icy landscape for some time until she reaches Krogstad s snow covered shanty.
A sense of anomie accompanies her deadpan face frozen from the cold wind. After a few moments
of blank staring, Nora knocks on the door. A solemn hollow sound penetrates through the door and
echos through the house. After a few minutes, Nora

Happiness And Happiness Analysis
Weiner is continuing his research in Switzerland with the help of journalist friend; Susan. She
invites him to meet with a couple of Swiss people to interview their views on happiness. A
wealthy banker, a doctor, and a former Hollywood agent who s lived in Switzerland for the past
ten years. Weiner asks them on a scale of 1 10; how happy are you these days? , and the
responses are as expected, multiple eights and nines and even at seven. The Swiss interviewees
were shocked as Weiner to see that they were quite happy with their lives. During the interview
with them, he further asks, what is it that makes them happy? , the doctor replies, Envy. ,
explaining that the Swiss will do anything to avoid envy with each other. Living by rules and
judgment for example; no flushing the toilet after ten or no laughing after midnight, etc. In
addition to his research, he remembers that a certain naturalist, claimed that humans have the
innate love for nature through evolutionary past. Weiner then takes a trip to Bern; a place so
quaint, you might end up leaving from insanity, of it is so quiet and small. He then travels to
Zurich for a short while, to see how well people on that side of town spend their happiness. To his
shock, it is actually slow paced; every person is in no hurry to leave the beauty of the surroundings.
Switzerlandis a place of rules and morals, but full of judgment and monitored actions. Rules do not
create more happiness, because it restricts your activities.

Compare And Contrast The American Revolutions
Over a hundred years ago countries from the new world were under the control of big wealthy
kingdoms from Europe. Then those countries decided that they didn t want those kingdoms to rule
over them and started revolutions to try and win independence. As a result we have the countries of
the South America. Their revolutions were both similar and different.
The Mexican Revolution was started by Francisco Madero. Along with him were other leaders
such as Pascual Orozco, Francisco Pancho Villa, Emiliano Zapata. The Mexican revolution was
caused because people were getting tired of Porfirio Diaz s dictatorship and the lower class was
tired of the poor working conditions and low wages. Its main purpose was to establish a democratic

The revolution was meant to defeat the uprising liberal government (called the Cortes) in Portugal.
Napoleon s invasion caused political and social unrest and they wanted to end colonial rule through
mercantilism. After the revolution they were granted independence and Dom Pedro I was named

The Argentine revolution, also known as the May revolution, was caused by the loss of authority
of the Spanish crown and the influence of the French Revolution and US independence. An
important leader of the revolution was Manuel Belgrano who became a general to the troops that
achieved the Argentine declaration of independence. It s motive was to remove the viceroy
Baltasar Hidalgo Cisneros, who was the representative of the Spanish Crown in Argentina, and
dissolve the Viceroyalty of Rio de la Silver.
Similarities that they all had was that their countries had poor working conditions and the lower
class wanted better lives. Also the Mexicans and Argentinians disliked their government leaders.
And once they all saw the success of the United States and the French Revolution they wanted to try

Erich Fromm
Erich Fromm in his novel To Have Or To Be argues that there are two forms of existence: having
and becoming. He believes that modern society is dominated by the to have mode, which is as a
soul less and selfish pursuit of material possessions. He also argues that neither capitalism nor
communism offer a way out of society s obsession with having because both economic systems
have a materialistic foundation. Therefore, Fromm attempted to synthesize capitalism and Marxist
humanism to form a society based on becoming. Fromm defined becoming as the mode of
existence in which one neither has anything nor craves to have something, but is joyous, employs
one s faculties productively, is oned to the world (16). The main difference between being... Show

In the poem Tennyson describes the reaction he had toward a flower he saw while taking a walk.
Instead of merely enjoying its beauty he wanted to have the flower and thus he plucked it.
Tennyson, even though he gained spiritual insight, ultimately killed the flower because of his
interest in it. Fromm s thesis is that society in its having mode of existence destroys the natural
world in its pursuit for knowledge and truth (plucking the flower). For example, scientists
dismember natural systems to understand their function and origin. Scientists may gain
knowledge, but at the price of killing or damaging the system they were observing.
Overconsumption and pollution will always be a problem for as long as mankind view the
natural world as something to have or to own. An antithesis to Fromm s assertion is that
interfering with the natural world does not harm it (or plucking the flower will not kill it). God
created the world for mankind thus mankind can do with it as they please. I offer a synthesis of
both philosophies by suggesting that a passive appreciation of nature is good and is needed, but
manipulating nature is also needed for scientific advancement. However, science must not be in the
having mode, but rather it must be humble to avoid overconsumption and eventual catastrophe. The
purpose of science is to learn and to become better citizens of the world (or to become one with the
world). However,

large corporations have their own skilled strategy departments. Yet the business world remains
littered with examples of bad strategies. Why? What makes chief executives back them when so

Participants are asked to offer not a precise figure but rather a range in which they feel 90 percent
confidenceВ—for example, the Nile is between 2,000 and 10,000 miles long. Time and again,
participants walk into the same trap: rather than playing safe with a wide range, they give a
narrow one and miss the right answer. (I scored 0 out of 15 on such a test, which was one of the
triggers of my interest in this field!) Most of us are unwilling and, in fact, unable to reveal our
ignorance by specifying a very wide range. Unlike John Maynard Keynes, most of us prefer
being precisely wrong rather than vaguely right. We also tend to be overconfident of our own
abilities.5 This is a particular problem for strategies based on assessments of core capabilities.
Almost all financial institutions, for instance, believe their brands to be of above average value.
Related to overconfidence is the problem of overoptimism. Other than professional pessimists such
as financial regulators, we all tend to be optimistic, and our forecasts tend toward the rosier end of
the spectrum. The twin problems of overconfidence and overoptimism can have dangerous
consequences when it comes to developing strategies, as most of them are based on estimates of
what may happenВ—too often on unrealistically precise and overoptimistic estimates of
uncertainties. One leading investment bank sensibly tested its strategy against a pessimistic
scenarioВ—the market conditions of 1994, when a downturn lasted

How Manh s Influence On The Classroom
In this extract, we can see that Manh has attempted to encourage the students to volunteer to
share their story after 10 minutes of discussion. However the way Manh frames his turn can hint
at the unequal identities of speakers in this context. The teacher s power exertion seems apparent
as there is a sequence of Wh question who used in the turn. Moreover the use of direct object me
(line 34 36) is interesting as it signifies the dominance of teacher s agency. Instead of choosing
more collective direct objects such as tell us or tell the whole class , the use of tell me can make
the classroom discussion become merely the conversation between the teacher and the selected
student. This can potentially create a nervous environment for the students. It is noted that although
the teacher has initiated many questions, there are no answers from the students. There are also
2.5s and 4s gaps in line 36 which shows the student s unwillingness to take part. The student s
unwillingness has led to Manh s power exertion, which is clearly seen in line 37. Using the first
condition in addition with personal pronoun I suggesting agency, Manh puts emphasis on the
possible consequence of being selected by the teacher if the students do not voluntarily take part in
the speaking activity. This is not interpreted as a threat but rather a reminding of what Manh is
capable of doing as a teacher, which can be linked to the teacher s identity as someone powerful

Essay On Sediment Fingerprinting
Abstract:
The growing awareness of the environmental significance of fine grained sediment fluxes in fluvial
systems continues to underscore the need for reliable information on the principal sources.
Traditional monitoring techniques are unable to solve the source estimation alone and had many
spatial and temporal limits, but sediment source fingerprinting method has emerged as a potentially
valuable supplement to address these issues. Despite the rapidly increasing numbers of studies
reporting that the use of sediment source fingerprinting method has several key challenges and
uncertainties continue to hamper the existing methodological procedures. This review identifies

2016).
Quantitative information on the sources of sediment is key to developing effective erosion control
measures to maximize sediment reduction. However, such information is extremely limited due to
difficulties in direct measurement of sediment source contributions from various sources within a
watershed (Zhang and Liu 2016). Generally, there are two ways in determining the source of
sediment. One is to use traditional techniques such as erosion pins or unit source plots or small
watersheds to estimate sediment provenance from a source type (e.g. gully, overland erosion
source). These methods possibly meet some of these information requirements, but they have
several limitations such as the representativeness of the obtained data, their spatial and temporal
resolution, associated spatial patterns over extended areas, and costs as well. Moreover, traditional
monitoring and modelling methods for soil erosion dynamics involved many parameters and long
term measurement. For example, to obtain long term erosion data in agroecosystems, experimental
plots must be carried out over decades to integrate the inter annual variability of climate and
cropping practices (Mabit et al. 1999).
Another way to estimate sediment source contributions is to use sediment source fingerprinting.
The fingerprinting method has been used at many spatial scales, ranging from a plot to a large
river basin (Koiter et al. 2013; Laceby and Olley 2015; Walling

A Restraint Of Trade Clause
A restraint of trade clause is a provision inserted into an employment contract to regulate the
conduct and activities of an employer and employee once the employment relationship has ended.
Often, a restraint of trade provision prohibits a former employee from competing against the
business of the employer for a defined period of time after the termination of employment, or
within a certain geographical location. Where a restraint of trade is found to be valid but unjust, an
employee may seek recourse in equity for relief. Although, there is no one significant equitable
remedyfor resisting the enforcement of restraint of trade clauses in employment contracts, certain
authorities tend to indicate that the most effective equitable remedy is an injunction, paired with
declaratory relief.
An injunction is an equitable remedy commonly used to prevent interference with equitable rights
(in its exclusive jurisdiction) or to assist in the enforcement of legal obligations (in its auxiliary
jurisdiction). The remedy will only be available where the applicant s right has been infringed and
there is no adequate remedy at law to correct the wrong (although it may be awarded in conjunction

What Makes George W Bush A Good President
Bush s Presidency American citizens only vote every four years on who their new President will
be. The citizens usually pick between a Republican, and a Democratic candidate. Even though the
elections are held in November, the winner is not sworn into office until January. Some Presidents
do a better job of governing our country than others. President George W. Bushwas elected 43rd
President of the United Statesof America in 2004. According to the biography, George W. Bush
was transformed into a wartime president on the airborne attacks the day of September 11, 2001.
President George W. Bush was born in New Haven, Connecticut while his father, George H.W.
Bush, was a student at Yale and served in World War II. George W. Bush moved to Midland,
Texas with his family when he was around 10. There he met and later married Laura Welch. They
had twin daughters, Jenna and Barbara. George W. Bush was elected 43rd President in 2004 and
served two terms as President of the United States of America.

What Have the Attitudes and Actions of People in Billy...
HSC 2008 Question 12 Elective 2: Into the world (20 marks)
Question: What have the attitudes and actions of people in your texts revealed to you about
venturing into society? In your response refer your prescribed texts and TWO texts of your own
choosing.
The attitudes and actions of the various characters within my chosen text shed light on the
experiences individuals may encounter upon venturing into society. These characters reveal
experiences of overcoming the sexual prejudices and stereotypes which are present in the world
as well as dealing with the death of a love one. Both these experiences can be observed through the
lives of the characters in the film, Billy Elliot, directed by Stephen Daldry. These can also be seen
mirrored ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another experience of such prejudice can be perceived in the actions of the mother of Vorn, a boy
within the clan. She encourages her son to give orders to Alya she believes that he is learning to
behave just like a man . The composer s use of verbatim in this line encapsulates the strong sexual
bias held against women within the tribe as well as supports the stereotypical roles of males and
females. Furthermore the composer demonstrates another representation of gender stereotypes in the
actions of Iza, the woman who adopted Alya. In a conversation between Iza and Creb, Iza
expresses her concern for Alya s future. She states that she s not attractive and asks What chance
will she ever have to mate? What will happen to her when she becomes a woman? If she doesn t
mate, she will have no status. The composer has clearly again expressed the tribe s attitudes
through the repetition of rhetorical questions. This underscores the towns gender stereotyping as
Iza demonstrates a clear concern that Alya will not fulfil her role in society. Together, these three
experiences of gender prejudice and a clear male bias reveal to us a holistic understanding of the
attitudes encountered when entering into a society of sexual injustice, such as Ayla s world.
Moreover another experience of venturing into society revealed within the film Billy Elliot is the
experience of dealing with the death of a loved one or family member. Towards the

Defining Religion:
In the 1950s and 1960s, many social scientists and historians in the United States argued that
Western societies were becoming secularized and that religion was fading out as an important part
of public and even private life. But they were wrong. Religion has not only retained its importance
for most people in the United States, it has become the subject of current public debate about
national culture and political practice.
In most Western traditions are two very common definitions of religion. One emphasizes in an
individual s beliefs and the other one is people emptions. The first defines religion as a set of
shared beliefs in sprits or gods. The second identifies religion in terms of a sentiments of awe and
wonder toward the unknown.
I propose to define religion as idea and practice that postulate reality away from that which is
instantly available to the senses. This board definition lets us to look at a very wide range of
context of religion. In each society people construct their world. They may have a shared set of
beliefs in sprits and gods and as a result fit directly into western definitions of religion. In

A Documentary On Tattoos And How They Affect Human...
I conducted a survey and three interviews to create a documentary on tattoos and how they affect
human relationships and interactions. This paper is an analysis of what it takes to make a
documentary. Documentary originates from the word document which means a film or article that
records factual information. Documentary means to present facts objectively without editing and
adding fictional information (Stott 6). Some of the first documents are from Benjamin Glassberg in
1938 and Saunders Redding 1951 before the word documentary was even created (Stott 6). At first,
a documentary was known as a humandocument because it had emotional ties to the information
though it was factual information (Stott 7). Emotion itself is completely subjective because not
every person in the world will have the same emotion to the same event. Thus giving birth to two
different kinds of documentaries official and human. In 1938, photography was introduced into the
world of documentaries by providing photographic proof of factual information. This brought about
a bigger war between objective and subjective documentaries because along with photos came more
emotion (Stott 11). How could an author of an official documentary choose photos without any
bias? All this information made me want to challenge myself and make an objective documentary
on tattoos. I personally have tattoos and plan on obtaining more so the challenge here is to take
information attained and record it without any of my own

Children Should Be Mandatory For Children
In 1998 Andrew Wakefield released a paper linking the MMR vaccine to autism. This article
caused panic among parents, leaving a trail of unvaccinated children. This trail eventually lead to a
nationwide outbreak of the measles virus. This is the worst outbreak the US has seen since 1994.
Even though Wakefield s publication has been discredited, there are still parents that choose not to
protect their children because of his study. These children not being vaccinated is hurting our nation
by lowering our herd immunity. It should be mandatory for children to receive vaccines. Children
should be vaccinated because the research is conclusive that vaccines do not cause autism, children
benefit from the vaccines, and help protect others who cannot be medically vaccinated. According
to Tafuri, Martinelli , Prato and Germinario (2011) the anti vaccinationmovement was started by
Andrew Wakefield in 1998. Wakefield published a paper in the Lancetof a study he conducted of
twenty patients. This published study determined that autism and some forms of colitis were
caused by the MMR vaccine(pg.1). Despite the fact the study has been discredited by medical
professionals, and retracted by the Lancet, parents are still choosing not to vaccinate their children
based on these falsified reports. Newer research reported by CNN as published by the British
medical journal determines Wakefield, misrepresented or altered the medical histories of all 12 of

Childhood and Socialisation in Australia Essay
Socialization is the human process of learning to become a member of our society, and how each
individual learns to fit into a group (Jureidini amp; Poole, 2003, p123). Jean Piaget (1896 1980) a
Swiss psychologist described childhood and development in terms of distinct psychological stages
and how these stages influence socialization and enculturation (see Jureidini amp; Poole, 2003,
pp124 ВЎV 127). Other important theorists to look at are George HerbertMead (1863 1931) and
Lev Vygotsky (1896 1934).

„X Religion ¡V In an Australian context, religion holds varied importance in childhood
socialization. For some children, attending church, a mosque or a synagogue with family provides
an introduction to the beliefs, values and morals that are socialized throughout their lives.
Processes of Socialization: There are several ways in which children (and adults for that matter) are
socialized.
„X Trial amp; Error ¡V children learn how to interact appropriately in a social environment
by trialing certain behaviour and gauging its social response. o Eg. When children use manners and
are polite, they are more likely to get what they want. Hence they learn to be polite rather than ask
rudely.
Eg. Hitting another child in the playground elicits a negative response from society; the childВЎВ¦s
friends wonВЎВ¦t play with him/her anymore.
„X Punishment amp; Reinforcement ¡V Parents and teachers use punishment and reward to
socialize children into conforming to social norms. Do something that is inappropriate by
societyВЎВ¦s standards and be punished. Do something correct, and be rewarded. o Eg. Moral
conditioning against stealing. When the child puts some candy from the

Teen Dating Violence
What is Teen Dating Violence?
Teen Dating Violence (TDV) is described as the physical, emotional, or sexual abuse that occurs
within a relationship while dating. TDV can occur in person, or electronically by a current or
former partner (CDC, 2014). Many adolescents and adults are unaware of the prevalence of TDV
but a recent national study revealed that nearly 10% of adolescents have reported being hit,
slapped, or intentionally physically hurt by someone they had claimed to be dating (CDC, 2014).
About 20% of adult women who reported experiencing some form of intimate partner violence

billion dollars per year for increased medical costs of battered victims and businesses lose an
additional $100 million dollars in lost wages, sick days, and absenteeism. Also, nearly 2 million
workdays are lost to domestic violence annually and overall domestic violence costs the United
States $67 billion dollars, annually (NCADV, n.d.). IPV causes a huge lapse in profitability and
productivity.

organizations to prevent public health crises through awareness and instruction. For this
intervention, public service announcements via television and radio stations will be implemented

service announcements to campaign the detrimental effects of tobacco consumption as well as
raise awareness regarding cessation resources. In 2000, California held a media campaign that
accounted for a 2 3% reduction in the sales of cigarette packs. Despite the seemingly low effect of
media campaigning, it has been proven that each dollar invested in the anti tobacco advertising

Effects Of Anti Semitism In The Holocaust
The Holocaust was a horrific historical event which was started up for many reasons and saw
around six million Jews killed. The cruel actions of German Nazi s during that time continued to
impact people for generations after. The Nazis held significant power during this time and used
this to their advantage as they attempted to kill anyone who threatened their idea of a pure race .
The German Nazi s believed that they were of supreme race and that everybody else was below
them. They strived to get rid of any non German blood within families as they believed this would
ruin their race. Their attitude contributed to their work, as it helped soldiers continuously think and
support the ideas that came up during the holocaust. Anti Semitism, concentration camps and the
Final Solution were all factors that had a heavy influence on the treatment and view of Jews
throughout this time.
Anti Semitism is the word given to the prejudice and hate held by many towards people of
Jewish background. The cause of Anti Semitism may be because of religious teachings or
political teachings and is now considered a form of racism. Anti Semitism was highly visible
during the Holocaust and was a driving force in Hitler s plan to eliminate all Jews. The Nazi s
believed that they were a supreme race and also believed that the Jews, whom they saw as
destructive and instigators of trouble, would ruin that ideal. An example of Anti Semitism is
Hitler s heartless treatment of the Jews. He believed Jews had caused most of the severe issues
in Germany, like the failing economics and many people believed him. This was because anti
semitism was a pre existing idea which made it easy for Hitler to form a strong position in
people s mind and also on the political side. He justified his actions by blaming the Jews, while
also making it seem like they deserved to be tortured. ...the personification of the devil as the

The Psycho Analytic Perspective
My life is a story of the self realization of the unconscious. Everything in the unconscious seeks
outward manifestation, and the personality too desires to evolve out of its unconscious conditions.
Carl Jung The author of the lines mentioned above, Carl Gustav Jung, is one of the major
contributors of the Psycho Analytic perspective of understanding personality. Jung who was born
in Kesswil, Switzerland, in 1875, was a very close associative of Sigmund Freud. The duo shared
a lot of common ideas and thoughts beginning from their first meeting at Freud s office in Vienna,
after a period of mutually admiring correspondence. But, In the course of time these discussions

Like all psychoanalysts, Jung recognized that personality contains both conscious and unconscious
elements. Like Freud, Jung referred to the ego when describing the more conscious aspects of
personality. His description of the unconscious, though, differed from Freud s id and superego
structures. Furthermore, he did not seek to increase the role of consciousness in personality and to
minimize unconscious influence, as did Freud. Rather, Jung sought a balance in which unconscious
elements were given an equal role, complementary to that of consciousness Jung s description of
personality types is one of the more straightforward aspects of his theory. Among other things, it
helps explain why some people seize on his descriptions of mystical and mythological experience
with enthusiasm, while others dismiss them as non scientific nonsense. The difference depends on
a person s psychological type, that is, the person s grouping based on Jung s three major dimensions
of personality. The three dimensions are introversion versus extraversion, thinking

Land In The Grapes Of Wrath
John Steinbeck s The Grapes of Wrath is one of the most well know and important novels in
American Literature. The Grapes of Wrath shows the economic hardship that the Dust Bowl
brought to farmers on the Southern Plains. The Dust Bowl was caused by a drought and forced
tenant farmers (farmers who occupy and farm land that is owned by someone else) to leave their
land and head west in search for work. One of the most important themes of the novel is the great
significance of land and its role in the lives of the tenant farmers. Many characters in the novel
reveal their attachment to the land in Oklahoma and its dominating role in their lives. Steinbeck
uses the character Grampa to explore the prevalent theme of the importance of land to the... Show

Steinbeck compares Grampa to a frantic, mischievous, and impatient child who, drank too much
when he could get it, ate too much when it was there, talked too much all the time, (Steinbeck

and shows that he s not giving up anytime soon. The same applies to the remaining tenant
farmers. The farmers are hopeful for rains to come and end the drought so that they can start
planting again. The end of the drought would mark the end of their distress and the insurance that
they could stay on their land. Like the Joads, many families stayed on the land for as long as
possible hoping for an end to their turmoil. Many of the evicted families probably would have
waited out the drought if it were not for the forced removal by the big landowners and companies.

In every moment of our lives, we handle a tremendous amount of large data, this large data will

Don T Go Chasing Waterfalls By TLC
In 1994, a girl group named TLC released a song named Waterfalls. The song served as a
warning, establishing a new character in each verse, and then having them jump into some pretty
serious situations, all of which ended in disaster. The song s message, is then summed up in the
first line of the chorus, which reads, Don t go chasing waterfalls, a metaphor that means not to get
ahead of yourself and start something just because it looks appealing, as the man in the second
verse did when he decided to be unprotected and intimate with a promiscuous women. The message
is both important, and very strongly argued with the given examples, but the metaphor itself, can be
argued based on how you view waterfalls. Many, including TLC, see waterfalls as dangerous....

In accordance to this argument, it is also important to mention that waterfalls are not permanent, as
they erode themselves away with time. This speaks great volumes when it comes to TLC s
viewpoint, as these dangerous things that the characters they introduce in their song are interested
in, such as the character in the first verse s interest in selling drugs, usually have a short shelf life.
To clarify, with this particular viewpoint of waterfalls, the group, and those that see waterfalls the
same way, are further cementing their point of not chasing after dangerous things, as though they
may be alluring, they usually don t last long, and have terrible endings. A message that is very
helpful, and rightfully should be as widespread as the song s popularity made it. Others, simply
view waterfalls as beautiful, natural occurrences. They are also aware that finding these waterfalls

Essay On The Bobo Doll Experiment
The Bobo Doll Experiment Alexis T. Smith University of Alabama at Birmingham April 2016
The Bobo Doll Experiment was a study on aggression conducted by Albert Bandura at Stanford
University in 1961 because there was a lot of debate about whether a child s social development
was due to genetics, environment factors, or social learning from others around them. The
purpose of the study was to give credit to Bandura s claim that children behavior can be acquired
by observation and imitation of a trusted adult role model. The experiment was performed by a
team of researchers who physically and verbally mistreated a 3 and 5 foot painted cartoon clown
doll, that is designed to sit back upright when knocked down, in front of preschool age children,
which led the children to later copy the behavior of the adults by attacking the doll in the same
fashion. The experiment is an example of a matched pairs design, which is used when an
experiment has two treatment conditions and the subjects are paired based on a blocking variable,
and within each pair the subjects are assigned to a different treatment randomly. There were a total

Cultural Values In Iowa City
Iowa City is a typical medium sized city in a state that is mostly primarily rural. What sets it
apart from most of the other cities in Iowa is that it is a college town. Iowa City has a population
of approximately 71,500 people, it has a median income of about $34k, a median age of 25, over
50% of the population has a BA of higher, 11% are foreign born, and 15% speak a language other

If what you are willing to pay for food is an indicator of social class, then evaluating the price of
food at each eatery makes it easier to distinguish which social class eats where. Those that
frequent expensive restaurants are people that have more money, and therefore more social
clout. Those that frequent fast food eateries have less social importance because they spent less
money on the acquisition and consumption of food. If this is true then you do not have people
of higher social status eating at a fast food establishment, and people of lower social status do
not eat at the more expensive establishments. But just as in the reading by Davidson, people of
lower social status can afford fish occasionally, and so can people of the lower social status eat
at a more expensive restaurant. When it comes to politics, Iowa City is important and holds
some clout. Iowa is first in the nation when it comes to caucusing for presidential candidates,
and this make Iowa City a prime target for political juxtaposing. Grass root politicking is mostly
done with the involvement of food. American politicians want the constituents to see them as an
every man, someone who eats what they eat, and drinks what they drink, real average everyday
people. Because of the diversity of the population in Iowa City, there is much more available
there to appeal to many different sects of the voting population. This allows the food culture of
Iowa City to better reflect the diversity of the American population in general. According to the
U.S. Census the percentage of foreign born Americans in 2010 was 12.9% and the number of
foreign born people in Iowa City is 11%, so Iowa City is a good representation of the U.S. in that
respect. Available cuisine in Iowa City is as diverse as its people. By looking at Iowa City as a

Dehydration occurs when more water is lost than what is being taken in. Making sure we have the proper amount of fluids in our cells is vital to ensuring our bodies are able to properly perform their essentially necessary functions. Water acts like a cleanser, helping with the removal of harmful waste and possible deadly toxins. Our blood, which is made primarily of water, is responsible for carrying many nutrients to nearby waiting cells. Our immune system, which contains a fluid called lymph, is also made of water. Our bodies can obtain water from most foods or liquids we consume, but pure water is best. Alcohol is known to affect the levels of hydration within human cells through its diuretic effects. The more alcohol an individual consumes, the more water is removed from the body through the individuals frequent need to urinate. Caffeine is also a known diuretic, but its effects on hydration levels are believed to be minimal. The symptoms of dehydration vary from person to person, with factors such as age and weight playing a role in how a person responds to the effects dehydration on their individual body. Adults will respond differently to the symptoms of dehydration than children will. When children and infants become sick they may suffer from vomiting, diarrhea, or increased urination, therefore their bodies require their electrolyte levels be restored in an attempt to prevent the effects of dehydration. Drinks such as Pedialyte are infused with sodium and potassium, much like many sports drinks are higher in electrolytes than pure water. The National Football League And Its Effect On Society The National Football League was created in September, 1920 and has since influenced America not only economically but personally as the sport s dangers are slowly unmasked. The National Football League has been covering up the corruption that has been going on for many decades and as people begin to dig, many hidden truths are beginning to be uncovered. When people think about the NFL, they are reminded of the sport that many have loved so much but little does our society realize the major economic effects that the NFL has on America. Not all of us realize how much of our tax dollars go towards new football stadiums, the massive parking lots used for games, and the football players themselves. The National Football Leagueclaims to be nonprofit, yet it is clear that it is far from that. In addition to the economic effects, it also has a more personal impact on our lives as more research is showing the health hazards of playing football. The multiple head traumas that football players get leads to chronic conditions such as CTE, a newer diagnosis, which causes many players to experience symptoms such as brain deterioration, suicidal thoughts and ultimately death. I will look at both block programming environments and high level languages by researching and explaining what each of them are but also by giving examples of programs made using them and by focusing on both the advantages and disadvantages of writing programs in these ways. I will compare the two together and decide whether they are suited to complex or simple situations and also as well as this will look at whether the programmer needs knowledge on how to create a program using them. Computer languages are used to create programs and are set of instructions which the computer uses to run a program. There are a lot of computer languages however, they all have different features. One of them is high level language. The advantage of using high level language is that it s person friendly, so humans can understand it easily as it s written in text which means that it s also easier to write and maintain. High level language is also portable and can work across different CPU families and as well as this it supports a wide range of data types. An another advantage of using it is that it programs faster and takes less time to code. A disadvantage of using high level language to program is that it needs to be translated into machine code before it can be executed so that the CPU can run it as computers only use and understand binary data. He believes that modern society is dominated by the to have mode, which is as a soul less and selfish pursuit of material possessions. He also argues that neither capitalism nor communism offer a way out of society s obsession with having because both economic systems have a materialistic foundation. Therefore, Fromm attempted to synthesize capitalism and Marxist humanism to form a society based on becoming. Fromm defined becoming as the mode of existence in which one neither has anything nor craves to have something, but is joyous, employs one s faculties productively, is oned to the world (16). Instead of merely enjoying its beauty he wanted to have the flower and thus he plucked it. Tennyson, even though he gained spiritual insight, ultimately killed the flower because of his interest in it. Fromm s thesis is that society in its having mode of existence destroys the natural world in its pursuit for knowledge and truth (plucking the flower). For example, scientists dismember natural systems to understand their function and origin. Scientists may gain knowledge, but at the price of killing or damaging the system they were observing. Overconsumption and pollution will always be a problem for as long as mankind view the natural world as something to have or to own. An antithesis to Fromm s assertion is that interfering with the natural world does not harm it (or plucking the flower will not kill it). God created the world for mankind thus mankind can do with it as they please. I offer a synthesis of both philosophies by suggesting that a passive appreciation of nature is good and is needed, but manipulating nature is also needed for scientific advancement. However, science must not be in the having mode, but rather it must be humble to avoid overconsumption and eventual catastrophe. Most of us are unwilling and, in fact, unable to reveal our ignorance by specifying a very wide range. Unlike John Maynard Keynes, most of us prefer being precisely wrong rather than vaguely right. However the way Manh frames his turn can hint at the unequal identities of speakers in this context. The teacher s power exertion seems apparent as there is a sequence of Wh question who used in the turn. Moreover the use of direct object me (line 34 36) is interesting as it signifies the dominance of teacher s agency. Instead of choosing more collective direct objects such as tell us or tell the whole class , the use of tell me can make the classroom discussion become merely the conversation between the teacher and the selected student. This can potentially create a nervous environment for the students. It is noted that although the teacher has initiated many questions, there are no answers from the students. There are also 2.5s and 4s gaps in line 36 which shows the student s unwillingness to take part. The student s unwillingness has led to Manh s power exertion, which is clearly seen in line 37. Traditional monitoring techniques are unable to solve the source estimation alone and had many spatial and temporal limits, but sediment source fingerprinting method has emerged as a potentially valuable supplement to address these issues. Quantitative information on the sources of sediment is key to developing effective erosion control measures to maximize sediment reduction. However, such information is extremely limited due to difficulties in direct measurement of sediment source contributions from various sources within a watershed (Zhang and Liu 2016). Generally, there are two ways in determining the source of sediment. One is to use traditional techniques such as erosion pins or unit source plots or small watersheds to estimate sediment provenance from a source type (e.g. gully, overland erosion source). These methods possibly meet some of these information requirements, but they have several limitations such as the representativeness of the obtained data, their spatial and temporal resolution, associated spatial patterns over extended areas, and costs as well. Moreover, traditional monitoring and modelling methods for soil erosion dynamics involved many parameters and long term measurement. For example, to obtain long term erosion data in agroecosystems, experimental plots must be carried out over decades to integrate the inter annual variability of climate and cropping practices (Mabit et al. 1999). Another way to estimate sediment source contributions is to use sediment source fingerprinting. A Restraint Of Trade Clause A restraint of trade clause is a provision inserted into an employment contract to regulate the conduct and activities of an employer and employee once the employment relationship has ended. Often, a restraint of trade provision prohibits a former employee from competing against the business of the employer for a defined period of time after the termination of employment, or within a certain geographical location. Where a restraint of trade is found to be valid but unjust, an employee may seek recourse in equity for relief. Although, there is no one significant equitable remedyfor resisting the enforcement of restraint of trade clauses in employment contracts, certain authorities tend to indicate that the most effective equitable remedy is an injunction, paired with declaratory relief. An injunction is an equitable remedy commonly used to prevent interference with equitable rights (in its exclusive jurisdiction) or to assist in the enforcement of legal obligations (in its auxiliary jurisdiction). The remedy will only be available where the applicant s right has been infringed and there is no adequate remedy at law to correct the wrong (although it may be awarded in conjunction with other remedies). (J.DeLong Bas, 2001) Defining Religion: In the 1950s and 1960s, many social scientists and historians in the United States argued that Western societies were becoming secularized and that religion was fading out as an important part of public and even private life. But they were wrong. Religion has not only retained its importance for most people in the United States, it has become the subject of current public debate about national culture and political practice. In most Western traditions are two very common definitions of religion. One emphasizes in an individual s beliefs and the other one is people emptions. The first defines religion as a set of shared beliefs in sprits or gods. The second identifies religion in terms of a sentiments of awe and wonder toward the unknown. I propose to define religion as idea and practice that postulate reality away from that which is instantly available to the senses. This board definition lets us to look at a very wide range of context of religion. In each society people construct their world. • 24. A Documentary On Tattoos And How They Affect Human... I conducted a survey and three interviews to create a documentary on tattoos and how they affect human relationships and interactions. This paper is an analysis of what it takes to make a documentary. Documentary originates from the word document which means a film or article that records factual information. Documentary means to present facts objectively without editing and adding fictional information (Stott 6). Some of the first documents are from Benjamin Glassberg in 1938 and Saunders Redding 1951 before the word documentary was even created (Stott 6). At first, a documentary was known as a humandocument because it had emotional ties to the information though it was factual information (Stott 7). Emotion itself is completely subjective because not every person in the world will have the same emotion to the same event. Thus giving birth to two different kinds of documentaries official and human. In 1938, photography was introduced into the world of documentaries by providing photographic proof of factual information. This brought about a bigger war between objective and subjective documentaries because along with photos came more emotion (Stott 11). How could an author of an official documentary choose photos without any bias? All this information made me want to challenge myself and make an objective documentary on tattoos. I personally have tattoos and plan on obtaining more so the challenge here is to take information attained and record it without any of my own ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 25. Children Should Be Mandatory For Children In 1998 Andrew Wakefield released a paper linking the MMR vaccine to autism. This article caused panic among parents, leaving a trail of unvaccinated children. This trail eventually lead to a nationwide outbreak of the measles virus. This is the worst outbreak the US has seen since 1994. Even though Wakefield s publication has been discredited, there are still parents that choose not to protect their children because of his study. These children not being vaccinated is hurting our nation by lowering our herd immunity. It should be mandatory for children to receive vaccines. Children should be vaccinated because the research is conclusive that vaccines do not cause autism, children benefit from the vaccines, and help protect others who cannot be medically vaccinated. According to Tafuri, Martinelli , Prato and Germinario (2011) the anti vaccinationmovement was started by Andrew Wakefield in 1998. Wakefield published a paper in the Lancetof a study he conducted of twenty patients. This published study determined that autism and some forms of colitis were caused by the MMR vaccine(pg.1). Despite the fact the study has been discredited by medical professionals, and retracted by the Lancet, parents are still choosing not to vaccinate their children based on these falsified reports. Newer research reported by CNN as published by the British medical journal determines Wakefield, misrepresented or altered the medical histories of all 12 of the patients whose cases ... Childhood and Socialisation in Australia Essay Socialization is the human process of learning to become a member of our society, and how each individual learns to fit into a group (Jureidini amp; Poole, 2003, p123). The cruel actions of German Nazi s during that time continued to impact people for generations after. The German Nazi s believed that they were of supreme race and that everybody else was below them. They strived to get rid of any non German blood within families as they believed this would ruin their race. Their attitude contributed to their work, as it helped soldiers continuously think and support the ideas that came up during the holocaust. Anti Semitism, concentration camps and the Final Solution were all factors that had a heavy influence on the treatment and view of Jews throughout this time. Anti Semitism is the word given to the prejudice and hate held by many towards people of Jewish background. The cause of Anti Semitism may be because of religious teachings or political teachings and is now considered a form of racism. Anti Semitism was highly visible during the Holocaust and was a driving force in Hitler s plan to eliminate all Jews. The Nazi s believed that they were a supreme race and also believed that the Jews, whom they saw as destructive and instigators of trouble, would ruin that ideal. An example of Anti Semitism is Hitler s heartless treatment of the Jews. He believed Jews had caused most of the severe issues in Germany, like the failing economics and many people believed him. Rather, Jung sought a balance in which unconscious elements were given an equal role, complementary to that of consciousness Jung s description of personality types is one of the more straightforward aspects of his theory. One of the most important themes of the novel is the great significance of land and its role in the lives of the tenant farmers. If this is true then you do not have people of higher social status eating at a fast food establishment, and people of lower social status do not eat at the more expensive establishments. But just as in the reading by Davidson, people of lower social status can afford fish occasionally, and so can people of the lower social status eat at a more expensive restaurant.
