The Resource Of Tap Water
Water is a seemingly abundant source that is vital for basic life on Earth. This element not only
acts as a catalyst for human survival but is constitutional for certain entities of architecture such as
passive water cooling or permeable paving. Water is a renewable natural resource, but society s
uneconomical uses of this depleting resource may lead to a future of drought. Generally speaking,
one of the main types of water is tap water, which is water that undergoes through of series of
treatments that maintains a governmentally accepted water quality. In this paper, the resource of
tap water will be analysed through its process of its development, social expectations and inevitable
consequences that underlie in this resource.
Two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom are the basic components which fundamentally make up
a water molecule. However with the process of water treatment, chemicals such as chlorine (Cl) or
ozone (O3) are added to improve the safety and quality of the water (Water, 2014). Before the
system of water treatment was adopted, drinking water was often contaminated with bacteria which
led to water borne illnesses such as cholera and typhoid. The concept of treating water was adopted
in India using the technique of sunlight to destroy bacteria, charcoal filtering and storage of
drinking water in copper compartments (Water, 2013). The city of Toronto receives their tap water
from Lake Ontario and is filtered through Toronto s four Treatment Plants as

The Cheesecake Factory
I am recommending a short of The Cheesecake Factory ( CAKE or the Company ).
According to the Company, The Cheesecake Factory created the upscale casual dining segment in
1978 with the introduction of its namesake concept. For the namesake brand, the Company s
identity and reputation for offering high quality desserts results in a substantially higher dessert
mix, at ~16%, which consequently generated a higher average check at over $20 in the past two
years. The Company is among the most differentiated casual dining concepts and CAKE s per
unit sales, at over $10.5 M, is a leading metric among its peers. The short thesis is partially
predicated on an assertion that CAKE s consecutive 26 quarter streak of positive same store sales is

Intellect By Ralph Waldo Emerson Poem
Often regarded as the leader of the Transcendentalist literary movement, Ralph Waldo Emerson
believed that the individual must look inward to find truth and knowledge. He emphatically
stressed that one must practice self reliance: the ability to trust one s intuition and not conform
to societal standards. Through the use of strict form, powerful imagery, and a wise tone,
Emerson s poem Intellect urges us to stay true to ourselves by refusing the practice of blind
obedience. The form of Intellect is comprised of just six lines which suggests a call to action for
the reader to listen to his wise words. The short form produces a riddle like tone; it follows a
strict rhyme scheme and a very strong rhythm. The lines are end rhymed this, coupled with the
length of the poem produces an almost child like simplicity. The morals hidden in Intellect aren t
simple per se, nevertheless we are reminded of the riddles of our primary school days; we
remember the catchy rhythm and traditional morals we learned from these riddles. The rhythm and
meter are also vital aspects of this poem s structure: each line contains seven syllables and begins
with a stressed syllable. This didactic rhythm jumps out of the page at the reader, causing us to
pay attention. The stressed and unstressed syllable pattern produces a sing song effect; the poem
beckons us to listen to the wise counsel of Emerson with a child like openness and implores the
reader to find the moral that Emerson is trying to get across. The imagery of Intellect is
challenging: the poem features a fountain, a wave, the shore, and wings all in just six lines. This
abstract imagery allows us to tap into our own intellect and it leaves room for the reader to
interpret its meaning. Let us contemplate the fountain first. A fountain is often used to symbolise
the source for something desirable: whether it be a drinking fountain, a fountain of youth, or the
fountain of life we come across in Christian doctrine. Often times we crave rules; or we might just
crave direction or someone to tell us what to do. Unfortunately, the source of these rules is often
society. We choose to listen to the voice of society for direction, instead of turning inward. Perhaps

Abstract
Temperature and environment plays a key role on the effects of an ectothermic organism s
metabolism. The specific ectothermic organism used in this study was the Gromphadorhina
portentosa also known as the Madagascar Hissing Cockroach. In this study we measured CO2
production (%) and temperature (МЉC) every three minutes for a total of 15 minutes in three
different temperature environments. The three temperature environments conducted in the
experiment included room temperature, a cold environment (ice bath), and a hot environment (how

What Is The Primary Purpose Of Dangerous Liaisons
Dangerous Liaisons : Pierre Choderlos de Laclos
Dangerous Liaisons is an epistolary novel written in 1982 by Choderlos de Laclos. It is part of the
eighteenth century society, where former libertine lovers, the Marquise de Merteuil and the
Vicomte de Valmont, engage in a story of power, seduction, manipulation, and appearance. Through
this intrigue, the two sexes throw themselves into a battle without any mercy for their victims, the
young prudish CГ©cile de Volanges and the chaste and pious The President de Tourvel. The novel
consists of 175 letters reflecting all the thoughts and intimate desires. The narrative focuses on the
perverse duel of these two aristocrats manipulators. The primary purpose of Choderlos de Laclos, in
writing Dangerous Liaisons, was to describe the environment that allowed the appearance of
libertinage. I first questioned myself on what representation of the libertinism proposes Dangerous
Liaisons. Is it a condemnation of this current of thought and way of life or, on the contrary, a
sublimation?
It is, therefore, necessary to ask, first of all, why Laclos has created a somewhat tragic and
paradoxical plot around the condition of libertines, passing from greatness to misery. Then... Show

was characterized by five major aspects: the romantic illusion, moral intention, realism,
psychological analysis and a formal work on the genre and structure of fiction. The novel of
Laclos got these five traits which made Dangerous Liaison a success. This is the reason why I
found this novel very interesting for my Research Paper. Moreover, this literary work is classified

Transportation In The Jetson
Meet George Jetson! Those were the first few words heard on analog televisions across the
globe when viewers watched one of the first shows in color (O Reilly). Fittingly, The Jetsons
was a futuristic TV sitcom that ran from 1962 1963 and was rebooted in 1985 1987. The setting
resided in a utopian world, where cities floated in mid air and flying cars were the mode of
transportation. Moving sidewalks helped individuals move around the house, jobs contained the
labor of pushing a button for three hours a week, and jetpacks eased the hassle of personal travel.
Even though the lifestyle of the Jetson family seems to be unattainable with today s technology, the
similarities of today and Orbit City (the city the Jetsons reside in) are startling.... Show more content

Surprisingly, many devices depicted in The Jetsons actually have real life counterparts.
Roombas (vacuuming robots with commercial success), smartwatches, and even dog treadmills
were all created after the series displayed them. Arguably the prediction that was fulfilled the
quickest after the series aired was the tanning bed (Moira). Back in the 1920s and 1930s, lights
that produced artificial suntans were in existence; however, the lights were not produced in a
way to attract the average consumer. Fast forward to an episode of The Jetsons, where Cosmo
Spacely (George s boss) is found resting on a bed under a lampshade. The settings of light
intensity are Miami, Honolulu, and Riviera ( 10 Out Of This World Facts About The Jetsons ).
This was the closest product to a personal tanning bed in the 1960s. Fast forward again to 1978,
where Friedrich Wolff, a man who favored tan skin, had a realization: there was not a product or
business that capitalized on the luxury of tanning. He pounced on the personal tanning industry and
founded the first modern tanning bed, thus giving him the father of indoor tanning title. Finally, the
last important technological parallel from The Jetsons is the face cam. The Jetson family utilizes
this tool on almost every episode, whether they are speaking to each other in different rooms of the
house or making a business call. Today, video chatting is one of the most common

How Social Media Could Rule Banking And Insurance Essay
How Social Media Could Rule Banking and Insurance When the internet first came into being,
there was no way that the finance of a country could depend on it. But it was quite evident that
internet was heavily dependent on the financial stature of a republic. However, times have
changed now. The financial condition of a country is heavily dependent on the prevalent social
media like Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter which could not only back gear but also completely
stop an upcoming financial crisis. This has rendered them as some of the biggest financial
organizations available in the current market. It is also stated that the likes of Facebook, LinkedIn
and Twitter will rule banking and insurance in the near future. Similarities: When we say the
Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter will be the kings and queens of banking and insurance, we must
first look into the similarities that these two sectors share. This understanding will lead us to get an
idea of how these social media are controlling the financial section. A superficial outlook will
provide us with absolutely no similarities between the two sectors. But a little thought will show us
how these two are completely entwined. Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter have completely changed
the way we used to internet say about a decade ago. Banks and insurance companies are now
utilizing these social media to reach out to new customers i.e. advertising and to maintain their
communication with the already available one. Let s look into the

Piaget
Jean Piaget Intelligence Piaget was opposed to defining intelligence in terms of the number of
items answered correctly on a so called intelligence test. (Olson amp; Hergenhahn, 20090 To him
intelligence is what allows an organism to deal effectively with its environment. Intelligence
changes constantly because both the environment and the organism change constantly. Intelligence
is a dynamic trait because what is available as an intelligent act will change as the organism
matures biologically and it gains experience. (Olson amp; Hergenhahn, 2009) It is an important
part of all living organisms because they seek those conditions for survival. How intelligence
manifests will vary as conditions vary. This theory is often referred to as... Show more content on

The restoration of balance in the cognitive structure also creates the ability to attain new and
different interactions with the environment. This accommodation causes a change in the cognitive
structure and if these situations are encountered again it does not cause an imbalance because the
cognitive structure has changed and that assimilation is no longer and issue. The dual mechanisms
of assimilation and accommodation, along with the driving force of equilibration, provide for a
slow but steady intellectual growth. Interiorization Children s early interactions with the
environment are strictly sensorimotor. With increasing experience, children expand their cognitive
structure, enabling them to better adapt to the increasing number of situations they encounter. The
gradual decreasing dependence on the physical environment and the increased utilization of
cognitive structures is called interiorization. (Olson amp; Hergenhahn, 2009) As the cognitive
structure grows and develops it makes more complex problem solving possible. As the process of
interiorization continues, the child s adaptive response becomes more covert; Piaget called these
actions operations (thinking). The most important characteristic of operations is it is reversible.
Once something has been thought it can be undone or unthought . As a child s cognitive structure
develops, thinking becomes more important. In early childhood, the use of operations depends on

the field since the 1970s by considering the careers and works of the three prominent major IPE

Essay on Exploring Death in Death in Venice
Exploring Death in Death in Venice
Death in Venice by Thomas Mann, is a story that deals with mortality on many different levels.
There is the obvious physical death by cholera, and the cyclical death in nature: in the beginning it
is spring and in the end, autumn. We see a kind of death of the ego in Gustav Aschenbach s
dreams. Venice itself is a personificationof death, and death is seen as the leitmotif in musical
terms. It is also reflected in the idea of the traveler coming to the end of a long fatiguing journey.
It must also be noted there are no women in the story with prominent roles. The hero s wife is long
dead and his daughter has been married and gone for many years. Any women in the story are

9, 14). It is ironic that Aschenbach, who had written his book The Abject as a rebuke to the
excess of a psychology ridden age (13) succumbs to an egoless state, not only in the last grotesque
dream, but directly after it in his conscious mind as well. From this point on, Gustav becomes
totally shameless. (We have seen this theme of loss of shame as being a kind of death, and actually
leading to literal death as well, in Salman Rushdie s Shame.)
Mann s use of Venice as a backdrop is critical. Venice, an ancient city, inexorably sinking beneath
the water, a forbidden spot (38) with stagnant lagoons (28) the fallen queen of the sea (36).
Venice, with a faintly rotten scent (37) half fairy tale, half snare (55) that hid sickness for love of
gain . . . (56). The city that had a disreputable secret [like] his own (57).
In musical terms, death is the leitmotif, the theme keeps reappearing: heard in the overture (the first
stranger Aschenbach sees in Munich), continually sounded in the Venetian passages (more odd
men), swelling to a crescendo of hysterical laughter and swirling pipes of Pan, and, in the

Everyone in the world has certain things that call their attention, something they may be good at

I have been a cheerleader for four years (not consecutively), but the part I really enjoy is building

so many different stunts, and lately they have gotten a lot more smooth and they hit every time.
We have done Straight up Extensions, Liberties, Basket Tosses, Shoulder Sits, Pyramids, Full

first try is the best feeling in the world because it makes you feel like you can accomplish
anything if you just practice and strongly believe you can do it. Although stunting is fun, it is
considered a contact sport, and for a very good reason. A lot of the time a stunt does not hit or it
just does not go up. This sometimes means the top girl (flyer) fell, but thankfully my stunt group
never lets her hit the floor. My stunt group, as well as myself, always catch our flyer, but this
leads us to get either bruises, hit in the face, hit in the chest, and maybe even fell on. Even though
stunting can be painful at times, it is very fun being able to throw a girl high up in the air and

Compare And Contrast Two Ten Gilded Bronze Statues Of...
In this paper I will be analyzing the two seven feet ten gilded bronze statues of Hercules (from
greek Herakles) created in the 2nd century BCE in dedication to demigod s many
accomplishments. While the two sculptures are extremely similar, they yield minor differences
that distinct them from one another. Hercules was regarded as the strongest greek hero there has
been, but despite his unparalleled strength he appeared and lived like a regular human. While
both statues remained in Rome, one statue was found at the Forum Boarium, the other was buried
under tiles at the Theatre of Pompey with the inscriptions FCS short for fulgor conditum
summanium, meaning it had been struck by lightning. Despite being a product of Roman Art,
the statues were based around Greek models from the 4th century BCE. After its creation it was
displayed at the Forum Boarium in Rome for most of its existence, remains of Roman life point
to the fact that it is was where the cattle market took place. In his right hand he yields a club, his
distinctive symbol alongside the Nemean Lion skin. It is also worth noting that the statue found at
the Forum he does not have a lion skin hanging from his forearm, whereas the one found at the
Theatre of Pompey does. The Nemean Lion skin was the fruit of his first labour composed of three
complicated tasks. First he had to shoot an arrow at the beast and determine the speed at which it

Beauvoir notes in her second volume, When I wrote that one is not born, but rather becomes a
woman I meant just this that women become feminine through the process of social brainwashing
and stereotyping. She states key points of womanhood that are notably unseen or foreign in man:
pregnancy, lactation, and menstruation. Thus, this type of phenomena contributes to the marked
difference in women all together. Furthermore, what society seems to overlook when they take
these types of differences are the existential importance s that each carry on. Thus, woman may
fail to lay claim to the status of subject because she lacks definite resources, because she feels the
necessary bond that ties her to man regardless of reciprocity, and because she is often very well
pleased with her role as the Other.
Women overall are raised believe that the only way to achieve happiness and gain success is
through the acceptance of denying her true identity. Women all over are being deprived of their
possibilities for fulfillment and opportunity because they are shaped based on their childhood
where they learn to accept the dissatisfying life of work around the house, nurturing and raising
children, and the sexual slavishness. While living the kind of adulthood, Beauvoir addresses the

Stereotypes And Stereotypes Of The Irish Essay
Have you ever heard someone say that the Irish are all drunks, or African Americans are always
late, or women are bad drivers? These are types of stereotypes: commonly held ideas about
specific groups of people. Have you ever wondered why we stereotype others this way? What
makes up these stereotypes? And where does it come from? All these questions formulate into one
main idea and that is a prejudice opinions, which I have wondered for a long time. These opinions
greatly affect the image of others such as African Americanpeople. As you could see in our history
class that they were slaves. Because of that we considered them as the lowest class in our
society. As you could see the story by BRENT STAPLES, Black man in public space which the
author was stereotype as a scary black man. Nowadays we see that people were stereotype
African American in a negative way, as lowest and scariest class. According to Brent Staple,
most Black man are usually considered as muggers, and are treated differently compare to those
who are white. The author said that in one instance he didn t do anything, he was just walking on
the street at night and had his hands in his pockets, and that scared the white woman who was
walking along the same street. It s obvious to say she categorized the black man as a dangerous
person. Because she considered him as a scary and finicky person. That explain why she decided to

Designing A More Productive Manner During Construction...
In order to perform any task in a more productive manner during construction, equipment must be
used. Depending on the scope of work and the size of the job more than one piece of machinery
may be used; the model, size, and people operating the equipment will differ too. The equipment,
personnel, area, and project factors may be different for every job but they all share a common
factor, risk. This factor aids contractors to determine the type of equipment to choose and the
supplier to provide the equipment for the project as well.
Choosing the right equipment for the project is a major risk the contractor must be able to handle.
They must analysis and completely understand the project; such as understanding the type of soil to

Each specific area in construction uses various types of equipment, every piece of equipment has a
different purpose. The contractor must determine for each project and the scope of work assign
what equipment to use, and whether to buy or rent the equipment. For example, if a contractor
specializes in concrete work and it is a job that they perform regularly, it would benefit them
owning the necessary equipment; such as mixer and pump. This allows them to have the
availability of the equipment when it is required. However they are responsible for all the
maintenance on the equipment and inspecting it frequently, in order to keep it operating
properly (pg90). If these services are not performed regularly the contractor risk the equipment
being damaged or not performing to the norm. They also must be aware of the operating cost and
depreciation value of the vehicle; in order to receive funds from some of the equipments retained
market value (pg 92) . Now in a job that requires a special type of equipment, one not familiar
with the contractor, renting may be the best option. In renting the risk factor is also there, the
supplier may not have the equipment available for the time being requested or may be too far of a
distance from the job site.
Thus location of the project site also has some effects to the project, it can determine the delivery
and mobilization risk factors. Not only can location affect the time of the availability of the

A Brief Note On Poverty And Its Effects On The United States
2.Poverty
In 2013 more than half of the Honduran population lived below the poverty line, with six out of
ten rural families living in extreme poverty. Honduras also ranked among the most unequal
countries in the region, and its middle class was among the smallest in LAC. Low levels of
economic inclusion, limited social mobility, and the extreme vulnerability of lower income
households to a wide range of shocks have made poverty in Honduras especially deep and
intractable. Over the past 15 years more and more Hondurans have left the country to seek
opportunities abroad, particularly in the US, and due to years of large scale migration Honduras
now has one of the world s highest levels of remittances as a share of GDP. Although remittances
have enormous potential to reduce poverty and increase incomes among households in the lower 40
percent of the income distribution, emerging evidence suggests that they may also be causing
Dutch Disease effects, as well as draining the country s human capital stock and potentially
discouraging labor force participation among domestic workers. These dynamics have had
significant effects on poverty trends. Remittances, together with labor income and employment,
have been the main drivers of shifting poverty levels over the last decade. Cash transfers have had
a positive impact on extreme poverty and social indicators, but their scope is very limited compared
with similar programs elsewhere in the region. While structural reforms and

Analysis Of Iwo Jima
The Iwo Jima photograph was such an iconic photograph that it went on winning the Pulitzer
Award. Important details that can be seen by looking at the picture is that there are six men.
These six men are raising the American flag on top of debris. This image was taken on February
23, 1945 by photographer, Joe Rosenthal. A battle took place in Iwo Jima against the Japanese
and Americans with the Americans winning. The snap shows the second flag raising. The first flag
was raised but then taken down being replaced by a the larger flag shown in the picture. Joe
Rosenthal was able to capture the photo in the right time. Once, the picture went viral in all
newspapers, controversy sparked when Rosenthal accidentally said yes that the picture was

The Nature Of The Gods
Cartoons often depict a character with a subconscious angel and devil on each shoulder hyping up
the personality trait the character should act on. These subconscious beings influence the characters
to act on their impulse thoughts and reveal their true character. In the Iliad, the gods acted as these
subconscious beings and were portrayed with humanistic qualities. They intervened or refused to
intervene based on their emotional attachments and were the final push of the humans actions
throughout the poem. The gods and humans similar qualities allowed the humans to exercise free
will instead of being puppets to the gods. The comparative personalities allowed Homer to use the
gods and divinity to explain certain characters behaviors.
The subconscious angel and devil in cartoons contain the same personality traits of the cartoon
character the same way the gods in the Iliad reflect the mortals. The gods human like characteristics
compare well to a subconscious being internally molding thoughts and desires into actions. This
little push of encouragement is seen in Book Two when Zeus sent a dream to Agamemnon
suggesting he should attack the Trojans immediately. This arrogant idea of attacking the Trojans
immediately with little preparation isn t too far fetched from Agamemnon s normal behavior. In
Book One, Agamemnon went against warrior code of returning Chryseis, his war prize, after her
father offered up a ransom for her return. This refusal results in Apollo

Using Renewable Energy Systems ( Ac )
Summary: At present, most distributed renewable energy systems produce direct current (DC)
electricity which is then inverted to alternating current (AC) and fed into the electric grid.
Simultaneously, many modern building loads and storage systems use rectifiers to convert AC
grid electricity to DC for use at the load or battery. Onsite use of renewable energy production
therefore requires two energy conversions: DC/AC at the point of generation and AC/DC at the
load. The Bosch DC Building Scale Microgrid Platform (DCBMP) offers significant benefits
relative to conventional AC grid systems by distributing as much solar power as possible to DC
loads/storage, and then inverting only the excess power to AC for AC loads and export to the grid.
The DCBMP maximizes the utilization of solar energyon site, smooths the volatility of the PV
output, increases the load and storage efficiencies and minimizes dependence on grid based
electricity. The proposal incorporates long life (20 25 years), commercially ready technology,
increasing energy efficiency and improving energy security. These features are provided at a low
up front investment when compared to conventional AC based systems, enabling a levelized cost
of electricity (LCOE) less than $0.14/kWh by 2020 for behind the meter PV and storage systems
and a lower total cost of ownership for the DC loads and DC resources as compared to other
approaches, while providing export power to the utility grid through smart inverter

The Blind Side Vs Night Analysis
One of they ways The Blind Side and Night are similar is that they share a common theme. The
theme is people make it threw obsetcles more easily when other people help them with it. One
main excample of this in both of the storys is that both of the characters face major obstcles
throught the story. An excample in The Blind Side, if that the main character Micheal Oher has to
face a diffulect situtation when he is a black kid and he has to go to a all white school.
Another excample from the book night is when Elie and all of the jews get everything taken away
from them when the holocaust starts. Some text evdience from the book is the same day, the
hungarian police burst into every Jewish home in the town. ( Wiesel 10 ). Elie and the ... Show more

In The Blind Side it takes place in Memphis and the 20th century. Some evdience is his wandering
out of black memphis into rich white memphis... ( lewis 334). It says he moved from poor to
rich because he got adopted by a rich white family and he wa poor before he got adopted by
them. My excample from the book Night is that it takes places in 1941 1945 in Germany and
Translyvania, and in concentration camps. Evdience to prve that this is true is, The jews of
Sighet the little town in Translyvana where i spent my childhood. (Wiesal 34). It says he grew
up in Translyvania. Which he still lived during the start of the holocaust. Another main point is
that the characters are different in the story. In The Blind Side it says Micheal Oher is a Black
student that is big and he is older then Elie. To support that, He s the biggest player anyone ever
seen. (Lewis 131). When Micheal walked into the all white school everyone looked at him
differently even the teacher. The teacher described him as big and black. In the book Night Elie
is different from MIcheal. In the book Night it said that Elie was 15 years old which is younger
then Micheal. I also came to a conclusion that Elie in not as big as Micheal and that he is white.

The Effects Of Deafness On Deaf Children
Deafness has been viewed as a negative label regarding someone with a hearing loss. The term
Deaf is considered to be a disability solely on the fact that an individual who is Deaf is not normal
due to their hearing loss. Most individuals do not believe that there are any benefits or positives
from being Deaf, nor do they believe that a Deaf individual will ever be able to live a happy and
fulfilled life. Deaf individuals do not view themselves as disabled nor do they view their lives as a
loss, rather they view their Deafnessas a Gain. This is called Deaf Gain, meaning there are many
positives that Deafness brings to the world. According to H Dirksen Bauman and Joseph Murray,
Deaf Gain is defined as a reframing of deaf as a form of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Deaf Studies scholar Ben Bahan, Deaf people are visually oriented to the world
around them (Deaf Studies Digital Journal, 2009). Therefore, Deaf individuals are more aware of
their surroundings in comparison to a hearing individual who uses an oral language to communicate.
Using a visual based language has a Gain to the Deaf individuals perception of understanding the
world, but hearing individuals can also benefit from learning a visual language, such as American
Sign Language.
Learning American Sign Language as a second language and becoming bilingual can help brain
development as well as academic success. According to Laura Ann Petitto who is a cognitive
neuroscientist explains that, being exposed to two languages from birth and in particular, being
exposed to a signed and spoken language from birth does not cause a child to be language delayed
and confused (Petitto, 2001), rather the brain can handle dual languages. Being bilingual can
enhance cognitive development and particularly learning sign language can increase reading and
spelling scores. Petitto found from her research that children who ve had early exposure to sign
language are actually stronger readers in English than children who are deaf and who have not had
access to sign language as well as monolingual hearing English children (Petitto, 2001). Sign
language also helps individuals master spelling by fingerspelling words. Although there are many

How To Write A Narrative Essay About Moving To Chicago
When we lived in Chicago, we settled in with my dad s side of the family. His older sister, Ana

It was a sudden transition for both my brother and I. New school, new people, and a new
environment. We missed living in Chicago, including my parents. Since we had moved in south
of Austin there was nothing but open fields and agricultural roads, it took us about a year to get
used to our new home. Over time we had gotten more acquainted with a few of our neighbors
here. My dad was trying to convince my aunt Ana to move down here with us because of the
peaceful and quiet environment; especially since it was closer to travel to Mexico. Finally, after

Crime And Poverty And Struggles Of The Sioux Tribe
A history of struggle and isolation from the rest of society has led to the deterioration of Native
American cultures and customs and to their rising levels of unemployment, poverty, and crime
on reservations. The United States government has had a major role in the coming about of the
struggles that persist for Native Americans to this day. As crime and poverty grip the Sioux
tribe, they will continue to lose their traditional culture and move farther from who they once
were as a people. I will first review how European explorers introduced alcohol to Native
American tribes and how this lead to a strong prevalence of alcoholism in the Sioux tribe. Next I
will discuss the U.S. government s use of forced assimilation and boarding schools led to the
loss of Native American culture and customs. This led to more anger of the Sioux tribe towards
the U.S. government and to outer society as a whole. Third I will analyze the living conditions
and complacency felt by the Sioux tribe as seen through the photographs and interviews conducted
by journalist Aaron Huey. Lastly, I will assess the efforts taken by the elders and leaders of the
Sioux tribe to combat the prevalence of crime on their reservation. The people of the United States
and their government have caused many struggles for the Sioux tribe since their existence in
America. For these problems to be resolved, the United States needs to take an active role in

Charles Darwin s The Things They Carried Some Of The...
The central idea around Charles Darwin s theory is that species must evolve to be more effective
while those that do not are left behind. One such human evolution is that of making certain tasks
easier. While either from a physical standpoint such as lifting a heavy weight with one s legs or
back as oppose to just using their less powerful arms, or from a mental standpoint like making a
smaller deal out of something that should mean more. While the first example is a generally
healthy one, the latter is a dangerous way of coping with hard truths. In Tim O Brien s The Things
They Carried some of the soldiers constantly try to quantify items brought from war to make the
brutality of it less heinous in their minds. O Brien illustrates this image to make readers aware of
their own taking the easy way out of situations that sometimes would be better faced head on in
reality. To protect against the literal destruction of war, LieutenantCross uses numbers to
disassociate himself from the barbarities he is committing and witnessing. O Brien exhibits the
image of Lieutenant Cross counting the literal weights of items in the first short story, The Things
They Carried . Cross says, The weapon weighed 7.5 pounds unloaded, 8.2 pounds with its full 20
round magazine. Depending on numerous factors, such as topography and psychology, the riflemen
carried anywhere from 12 to 20 magazines, usually in cloth bandoliers, adding on another 8.4

Animal Cruelty And Impurities In Upton Sinclair s The Jungle

writer whose work often uncovered the social injustices occurring during his time. At the age of
14 Sinclair proved to be a force to recon with when he started attending City College of New York.
After graduating Sinclair began grad work at Columbia University supporting himself by writing

working in the meatpackingindustry. After spending weeks undercover researching, Sinclair wrote a

Advanced demand planning technology surpasses spreadsheet based efforts by calculating the best
possible demand prediction based on several inputs, including past performance of related products
or unrelated products that share key attributes in addition to any data generated by pre launch
market testing. According to Gartner, New product launch forecasting is overly reliant on sales and
marketing for demand inputs. Opportunities exist to remove forecast bias by utilizing attribute
modeling techniques and solutions that use similar product introductions to understand consumer
/ customer trial and repeat, as well as volume build assumptions, to improve the forecast. Sell In,
Sell Through, and Maturation The demand profile ramps up as introductory promotions,
advertising support, and word ofmouth combine to create an initial strong demand, then dips as the
sell through period gives way to the maturation phase, with its own promotions and marketing
programs attempting to shape demand over time. As the product life cycle unfolds, the demand
planning solution compares actual demand versus the forecast. Statistical matching algorithms can
be used to determine just how significantly actual demand has deviated from the prediction. The
predictive accuracy of other demand profiles can be compared, and when a different profile
provides a better match to the actual demand signal, it is swapped into play.

John Bowlby s Theory Of Attachment
This report will be about John Bowlby and his theory of attachment plus criticisms and how
these come into effect in practice and legislation. Edward John Mostyn Bowlby was born
February 27th 1907 and died September 2nd 1990. He was born in London to a middle class
family. He was mostly taken care of by his nanny because his parents believed that spending too
much time with him could lead to him becoming a spoilt child. At age 7 he was sent to boarding
school by his parents. After finishing boarding school Bowlby went on to study psychology at
Trinity College in Cambridge and worked with delinquent children. Once he graduated from
Trinity he volunteered at a school and worked with two unstable children which inspired him to
become a child psychiatrist. After this he went on to study medicine at University College
Hospital then psychiatry at Maudsley Hospital. Bowlby also studied at the British Psychoanalytic
Institute and was initially influenced by Melanie Klein but later became dissatisfied with her
work. He became a psychoanalyst in 1937, after this he joined the army and served in World War
2(WW2) in the Royal Army Medical Corps. Once WW2 was over Bowlby became the director of
the Havistock Clinic and then in 1950 after one of his papers was published he become a mental
health consultant for the World Health Organisation. Bowlby s Theory of Attachment was based on
the notion that the baby mother attachment was different from any other relationship the child

Astronomy Impact
Astronomical impact of the Moon on Earth
By: Peter Wehrfritz (500405367) CPCS 181
The moon has had a profound impact on the earth s evolution as well as life on Earth. Our moon
is believed to have been created about 4.5 billion years ago, when a large planetoid crashed into
the Earth, spraying space debris which was gradually captured by gravity 2. Eventually, this
material solidified into a body which we know as our moon. 3. This process is unique in our solar
system as the other planet s moons were formed by capturing free floating bodies with their gravity
3.
Physical Characteristics of the Moon
Earth s moon is the brightest object in our night sky. It has an elliptical orbit around the earth every
27.322 days and it also takes approximately ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The gravitational force of the moon is strong enough to exert a pulling force on the Earth, but
the Earth is able to hold on to everything except the water 7. As the water is in constant motion
the moon gravity is able to create a pull on the water, causing it to bulge resulting in high tide 7.
As the Moon and the earth are moving with respect to each other, the force creating high tide
also moves over different parts of the earth. Each day, there are two high tides and two low tides,
with about 12 hours and 25 minutes between the two high tides 7. However, these periods do not
happen at the same time each day because the moon takes about 50 minutes more than earth s 24
hour day to exactly align again with the same point on the Earth. Therefore, the timing of high
tides is staggered throughout the month, with each tide occurring approximately 24 hours and 50
minutes later than the previous one 6. It is also observed that the water on the opposite side of
Earth which faces away from the Moon also experiences high tide 6. The reason is that the
stronger centrifugal force pulls in the opposite direction to negate the moon s gravitational pull on
the earth to keep them apart and thus causes the ocean water on the opposite side of the Earth to
bulge and experience high tide

The Debate Over the Morality of the Death Penalty Essay
Senator for Utah Orrin Hatch once said, Capital punishment is our society s recognition of the
sanctity of human life, (Brainy Quote). While the arguments for both sides of the debate over the
morality of the death penalty are vast, the bottom line is that the death penalty does not disregard
human life, but rather it reveres it, as Hatch said. Morality is defined as, The quality of being in
accord with standards of right or good conduct, (The Free Dictionary). One who seeks to protect a
person who has committed a heinous crime such as murderis arguably not in accords with what is
right and wrong. Therefore, although killing is generally accepted as being wrong, the death

Though electrocution, hanging, and being shot at by a firing squad would seem to have instant
results, it is possible for the person to suffer immensely if they are initially done wrong, for
example, if the shocks are not strong enough the first time, if the noose is not placed correctly,
or if the heart is not struck in the first round of shooting. As a result, the person may have to
endure multiple jolts of shock, suffocate gradually, or slowly bleed to death (DPIC). As for the
gas chamber, unconsciousness does not occur immediately and, According to former San
Quentin, California, Penitentiary warden, Clifton Duffy, At first there is evidence of extreme
horror, pain, and strangling, (DPIC). Another argument is that taking another life will not
avenge the victim s family, as it will not bring their loved one back, and Gandhi s famous saying,
An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind, applies as well. Finally, anti death penalty
advocates may say that it is wrong to kill a mentally ill person, as it is widely believed that
anyone who would commit a crime worthy of the death penalty must have some kind of disorder,
because they are not fully in control of what they are doing and they are suffering too. At the end of
the day, adversaries of capital punishment believe that all life is sacred, including that of severe
criminals, and it should be preserved regardless of the circumstance.

Complications Of Social Disorganization
Criminal justice professionals utilize social disorganization to predict future trends in criminal
behavior. Many factors influence and control social disorganization; this paper will explain
exactly what social disorganization is, as well as its relationship or connection to organized crime
and criminal behavior. Today s corrupt political groups can have a direct and immediate effect on
social disorganization, as well as organized criminal activity ( Social Disorganization and Rural
Communities , 2003).
What is Social Disorganization? According to Bursik, (1988), the definition of social
disorganization is an inability of community members to achieve shared values or to solve jointly
experienced problems . Both theoretical and empirical research has focused on urban settings when
studying influencers on crime and delinquencies. Current versions of social disorganization theory
assume that strong social relationships will prevent crime and delinquency ( Social
Disorganization and Rural Communities , 2003). Crime can become more prevalent spawned
from neighborhoods with close living conditions such as apartment complexes or duplexes. Crime
rates can also be higher in areas that have a breakdown in the family unit. An example of family
unit breakdown could be a single parent family and divorce. Children that have a lack of social
control, order, and often turn to criminal activity many times come from these affected
neighborhoods ( Crime Social

(Boeing, 2016). The commercial airplanes range from small 50 person planes that travel
between relatively close cities, to large 600 passenger planes that travel across the globe. The
freight section of Boeing aircraft focuses on planes capable of carrying goods to be delivered to
and from different areas or regions (Boeing, 2016). These freight versions of the Boeing aircraft
family do not come equipped with any of their commercial aircraft such as cabin seating,
overhead storage, lights, air vents, or any cabin service features. These are planes intended to
hold a very small crew and are basically hollowed out in order to store as much as possible.
Lastly, Boeing also offers a wide range of BBJs from each of its families of aircraft (Boeing,
2016). BBJs are much more luxurious than a commercial version of an airplane. They are intended
for business executives and to be used by companies or corporations. The BBJs come equipped

Characteristics Of Becoming A Man
What does becoming a man mean? When would you say someone has become a man? Becoming
a man means, according to Merriam Webster, one possessing in high degree the qualities
considered distinctive of manhood; such as courage, strength, and vigor. To me becoming a man
doesn t happen at a certain age, but I think it happens at a time when you possess manhood traits.
In the Wake Tech Reader, Rodriguez talks about the independence children want when they grow
up in his essay Family Values. From what I ve learned growing up, becoming a manmeans having
responsibility, being self dependent, being financially stable to support yourself and possibly others,
and having the toughnessand grit to get through anything that gets in your way. If you asked me
what the most important qualities of becoming a man was, I d probably easily come back and
say that responsibility is. When you become a man you have a lot of things your responsible to
take care and do every so often. You have to be responsible enough to pay your bills and dues on
time. You can t just forget things anymore, so you got to be on top of your game and have a
schedule to get all your tasks done every day. As Winston Churchill once said, The price for
greatness is responsibility. To be a successful man you need to be responsible for your actions
and everything you do. You shouldn t have to be told to do something and that s a part of the
new responsibilities that you have. Responsibility is one of the main qualities of being a man
and without it some men may not be able to handle what happens in life. As I stated earlier,
Rodriguez says kids these days are independent from their parents when they leave home. What
immigrants know, what my parents certainly know, is that when you come to this country, you
risk losing your children. Rodriguez is saying that it s a known fact that some kids grow up and
come very independent with their family and in some cases don t come back and stay dependent
of themselves. He also states that America encourages you to Become your own man. Becoming
independent is probably the first step in becoming a man. You don t have your parents doing things
for you so you need to start relying on yourself for everything you need.

Essay On Linear Regression
From Table 8 and Table 3, we were quickly able to identify that the regression assumptions were
not going to be satisfied and that our dependent variable needed transforming. Looking at the
plot in figure 8, we could see that the residuals of the predictions were not following a straight
line. This indicated that linear regression was not suitable for the data. This led us to
transforming the worldwide box office revenue variable as shown in Table 9. Figures 4 7 showed
that the transformed variable made a huge difference. The linear regression assumptions were
satisfied and the residual plots indicated the residuals followed a linear pattern. Considering
Tables 10 13, we were able to find the best variables for the regression model at... Show more

Accuracies of around 80% 81% were obtained and this showed that the linear regression model
was strong. It is clear that transforming the dependent variable has a key role in why the linear
regression prediction accuracies are quite high. Considering that only pre release data was used
to predict the worldwide box office revenue and the best model had three independent variables,
it is a very high accuracy and shows how effective linear regression can be. Table 16 and 17
displays the results of the SVM prediction models. The same three variables that were used to
predict the worldwide box office revenue was used again in the SVM algorithm. The results
obtained from the models were slightly better than the linear regression models. SVM is more
advanced then linear regression so it is not unexpected that SVM has given us a higher accuracy.
The SVM models did not exceed the accuracy of the regression by much. The accuracies of the
SVM models ranged from 81% 83%. Nevertheless the accuracies of the models predicting the
worldwide box office revenues are impressive and shows movie studios how effective pre release
data is. From Table 18, we have a good idea as to how Random Forest performs when predicting
the success of movies. The accuracies of the various regression models indicate that the accuracies
range form 82 85.71%. As there are 2 categories of success, Hit and Flop, the

Conformity And Rebellion Essay
The idea of conforming or rebelling to or against, respectively, a person, group, or thing is
subconsciously occurring at all times whether it is known or not. Is the teenage boy going to
conform to the idea of underage drinking once his friend hands him the warm beer? Or perhaps he
will push the beer away in an act of rebelling against the action. Such a simple demonstration creates
the realization that conformityand rebellion constantly occur. Conformity and rebellion play a
very active role in daily life and decision making that all individuals make. The idea of
conformity is a social influence involving a change in belief or behavior in order to fit in with a
group. ( What is Conformity? ) People see conformity as being a demonstration... Show more

Rebellion is known as the opposition to one in authority or dominance ( Rebellion ). Often when
the term rebellion is mentioned, one may first imagine a group of unwelcoming individuals
raising arms against a group in higher power such as those during the Revolutionary War. The
Revolutionary War saw the colonists fighting back against the British who the colonists thought
ruled unfairly. The Revolutionary War is an example of violent and confrontational rebellion
but rebellion is not limited to loud and outlandish actions. Rebellion can also apply to subtle,
almost unnoticed actions. Such can be said about those opposed to wearing animal products
such as leather and furs. An individual that is opposed to animal cruelty may rebel against the
action of wearing animal products by avoiding them altogether. As for personal demonstration, I
recall being in middle school when a plethora of kids were playing with the Nintendo Wii, a
newly released gaming console. Almost every friend of mine had the Wii and played it
extensively. However, I was not amused by the system and decided that I didn t want to take part.
I then began to rebel by not partaking in playing the game. This example of mine demonstrates a
non aggressive take on rebellion, as I did not raise arms against my friends in an effort to show my
opposition to the actions they

horse, and set out for the king was not dead and the only one who could kill him was knocked out.
Po insists that they leave him behind to save the child because he was slowing them down. Sad
as Katsa was, they left him in a cabin and set off for Po s castle on the other side of the Seven
Kingdoms in Lienid, an island to the southwest. Katsa supposes that Leck s men will be at the
mountain pass, and Monport by the sea.
She decides to take the suicidal path through the mountains and the two end up in Sunder where
they head to the water to take a boat to Lienid. Disguising themselves as boys, they attempt to
board a Lienid ship where they pay a boy for passage.
He accuses them of stealing and takes them to Captain Faun for approval. The lady captain

Personality Testing
Summary
This essay identifies some critical reasons for why personality testing is still a key part of research
today. It started by introducing a middle aged lady who was struggling with the loss of her unborn
child and provided a test that could help identify her challenges and assist with a treatment.
Subsequently, this essay provided commentary on four separate articles, which discussed the uses
of personality testing within an organizational setting and the United States military. In addition,
this essay discussed legislation concerning psychological tests throughout different states in the
United States and the impact of not having the correct title and license in order to administer the
tests and assessments to those in need. This essay also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 2. The Resource Of Tap Water Water is a seemingly abundant source that is vital for basic life on Earth. This element not only acts as a catalyst for human survival but is constitutional for certain entities of architecture such as passive water cooling or permeable paving. Water is a renewable natural resource, but society s uneconomical uses of this depleting resource may lead to a future of drought. Generally speaking, one of the main types of water is tap water, which is water that undergoes through of series of treatments that maintains a governmentally accepted water quality. In this paper, the resource of tap water will be analysed through its process of its development, social expectations and inevitable consequences that underlie in this resource. Two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom are the basic components which fundamentally make up a water molecule. However with the process of water treatment, chemicals such as chlorine (Cl) or ozone (O3) are added to improve the safety and quality of the water (Water, 2014). Before the system of water treatment was adopted, drinking water was often contaminated with bacteria which led to water borne illnesses such as cholera and typhoid. The concept of treating water was adopted in India using the technique of sunlight to destroy bacteria, charcoal filtering and storage of drinking water in copper compartments (Water, 2013). • 6. Intellect By Ralph Waldo Emerson Poem Often regarded as the leader of the Transcendentalist literary movement, Ralph Waldo Emerson believed that the individual must look inward to find truth and knowledge. He emphatically stressed that one must practice self reliance: the ability to trust one s intuition and not conform to societal standards. Through the use of strict form, powerful imagery, and a wise tone, Emerson s poem Intellect urges us to stay true to ourselves by refusing the practice of blind obedience. The form of Intellect is comprised of just six lines which suggests a call to action for the reader to listen to his wise words. The short form produces a riddle like tone; it follows a strict rhyme scheme and a very strong rhythm. The lines are end rhymed this, coupled with the length of the poem produces an almost child like simplicity. The morals hidden in Intellect aren t simple per se, nevertheless we are reminded of the riddles of our primary school days; we remember the catchy rhythm and traditional morals we learned from these riddles. The rhythm and meter are also vital aspects of this poem s structure: each line contains seven syllables and begins with a stressed syllable. This didactic rhythm jumps out of the page at the reader, causing us to pay attention. The stressed and unstressed syllable pattern produces a sing song effect; the poem beckons us to listen to the wise counsel of Emerson with a child like openness and implores the reader to find the moral that Emerson is trying to get across. The imagery of Intellect is challenging: the poem features a fountain, a wave, the shore, and wings all in just six lines. This abstract imagery allows us to tap into our own intellect and it leaves room for the reader to interpret its meaning. Let us contemplate the fountain first. A fountain is often used to symbolise the source for something desirable: whether it be a drinking fountain, a fountain of youth, or the fountain of life we come across in Christian doctrine. Often times we crave rules; or we might just crave direction or someone to tell us what to do. Unfortunately, the source of these rules is often society. We choose to listen to the voice of society for direction, instead of turning inward. Perhaps by writing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. What Is The Primary Purpose Of Dangerous Liaisons Dangerous Liaisons : Pierre Choderlos de Laclos Dangerous Liaisons is an epistolary novel written in 1982 by Choderlos de Laclos. It is part of the eighteenth century society, where former libertine lovers, the Marquise de Merteuil and the Vicomte de Valmont, engage in a story of power, seduction, manipulation, and appearance. Through this intrigue, the two sexes throw themselves into a battle without any mercy for their victims, the young prudish CГ©cile de Volanges and the chaste and pious The President de Tourvel. The novel consists of 175 letters reflecting all the thoughts and intimate desires. The narrative focuses on the perverse duel of these two aristocrats manipulators. The primary purpose of Choderlos de Laclos, in writing Dangerous Liaisons, was to describe the environment that allowed the appearance of libertinage. I first questioned myself on what representation of the libertinism proposes Dangerous Liaisons. Is it a condemnation of this current of thought and way of life or, on the contrary, a sublimation? It is, therefore, necessary to ask, first of all, why Laclos has created a somewhat tragic and paradoxical plot around the condition of libertines, passing from greatness to misery. Then... The setting resided in a utopian world, where cities floated in mid air and flying cars were the mode of transportation. Moving sidewalks helped individuals move around the house, jobs contained the labor of pushing a button for three hours a week, and jetpacks eased the hassle of personal travel. Back in the 1920s and 1930s, lights that produced artificial suntans were in existence; however, the lights were not produced in a way to attract the average consumer. But it was quite evident that internet was heavily dependent on the financial stature of a republic. However, times have changed now. The financial condition of a country is heavily dependent on the prevalent social media like Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter which could not only back gear but also completely stop an upcoming financial crisis. This has rendered them as some of the biggest financial organizations available in the current market. It is also stated that the likes of Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter will rule banking and insurance in the near future. There is the obvious physical death by cholera, and the cyclical death in nature: in the beginning it is spring and in the end, autumn. We see a kind of death of the ego in Gustav Aschenbach s dreams. Venice itself is a personificationof death, and death is seen as the leitmotif in musical terms. It is also reflected in the idea of the traveler coming to the end of a long fatiguing journey. It must also be noted there are no women in the story with prominent roles. From this point on, Gustav becomes totally shameless. (We have seen this theme of loss of shame as being a kind of death, and actually leading to literal death as well, in Salman Rushdie s Shame.) Mann s use of Venice as a backdrop is critical. Venice, an ancient city, inexorably sinking beneath the water, a forbidden spot (38) with stagnant lagoons (28) the fallen queen of the sea (36). A Brief Note On Poverty And Its Effects On The United States 2.Poverty In 2013 more than half of the Honduran population lived below the poverty line, with six out of ten rural families living in extreme poverty. Honduras also ranked among the most unequal countries in the region, and its middle class was among the smallest in LAC. Low levels of economic inclusion, limited social mobility, and the extreme vulnerability of lower income households to a wide range of shocks have made poverty in Honduras especially deep and intractable. Over the past 15 years more and more Hondurans have left the country to seek opportunities abroad, particularly in the US, and due to years of large scale migration Honduras now has one of the world s highest levels of remittances as a share of GDP. Although remittances have enormous potential to reduce poverty and increase incomes among households in the lower 40 percent of the income distribution, emerging evidence suggests that they may also be causing Dutch Disease effects, as well as draining the country s human capital stock and potentially discouraging labor force participation among domestic workers. These dynamics have had significant effects on poverty trends. Remittances, together with labor income and employment, have been the main drivers of shifting poverty levels over the last decade. Using Renewable Energy Systems ( Ac ) Summary: At present, most distributed renewable energy systems produce direct current (DC) electricity which is then inverted to alternating current (AC) and fed into the electric grid. Simultaneously, many modern building loads and storage systems use rectifiers to convert AC grid electricity to DC for use at the load or battery. Onsite use of renewable energy production therefore requires two energy conversions: DC/AC at the point of generation and AC/DC at the load. The Bosch DC Building Scale Microgrid Platform (DCBMP) offers significant benefits relative to conventional AC grid systems by distributing as much solar power as possible to DC loads/storage, and then inverting only the excess power to AC for AC loads and export to the grid. The DCBMP maximizes the utilization of solar energyon site, smooths the volatility of the PV output, increases the load and storage efficiencies and minimizes dependence on grid based electricity. The proposal incorporates long life (20 25 years), commercially ready technology, increasing energy efficiency and improving energy security. These features are provided at a low up front investment when compared to conventional AC based systems, enabling a levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) less than $0.14/kWh by 2020 for behind the meter PV and storage systems and a lower total cost of ownership for the DC loads and DC resources as compared to other approaches, while providing export power to the utility grid through smart inverter ... When Micheal walked into the all white school everyone looked at him differently even the teacher. The teacher described him as big and black. In the book Night Elie is different from MIcheal. Most individuals do not believe that there are any benefits or positives from being Deaf, nor do they believe that a Deaf individual will ever be able to live a happy and fulfilled life. Using a visual based language has a Gain to the Deaf individuals perception of understanding the world, but hearing individuals can also benefit from learning a visual language, such as American Sign Language. Learning American Sign Language as a second language and becoming bilingual can help brain development as well as academic success. According to Laura Ann Petitto who is a cognitive neuroscientist explains that, being exposed to two languages from birth and in particular, being exposed to a signed and spoken language from birth does not cause a child to be language delayed and confused (Petitto, 2001), rather the brain can handle dual languages. Being bilingual can enhance cognitive development and particularly learning sign language can increase reading and spelling scores. Petitto found from her research that children who ve had early exposure to sign language are actually stronger readers in English than children who are deaf and who have not had access to sign language as well as monolingual hearing English children (Petitto, 2001). Crime And Poverty And Struggles Of The Sioux Tribe A history of struggle and isolation from the rest of society has led to the deterioration of Native American cultures and customs and to their rising levels of unemployment, poverty, and crime on reservations. The United States government has had a major role in the coming about of the struggles that persist for Native Americans to this day. As crime and poverty grip the Sioux tribe, they will continue to lose their traditional culture and move farther from who they once were as a people. I will first review how European explorers introduced alcohol to Native American tribes and how this lead to a strong prevalence of alcoholism in the Sioux tribe. Next I will discuss the U.S. government s use of forced assimilation and boarding schools led to the loss of Native American culture and customs. This led to more anger of the Sioux tribe towards the U.S. government and to outer society as a whole. Third I will analyze the living conditions and complacency felt by the Sioux tribe as seen through the photographs and interviews conducted by journalist Aaron Huey. Lastly, I will assess the efforts taken by the elders and leaders of the Sioux tribe to combat the prevalence of crime on their reservation. Advanced demand planning technology surpasses spreadsheet based efforts by calculating the best possible demand prediction based on several inputs, including past performance of related products or unrelated products that share key attributes in addition to any data generated by pre launch market testing. According to Gartner, New product launch forecasting is overly reliant on sales and marketing for demand inputs. Opportunities exist to remove forecast bias by utilizing attribute modeling techniques and solutions that use similar product introductions to understand consumer / customer trial and repeat, as well as volume build assumptions, to improve the forecast. Sell In, Sell Through, and Maturation The demand profile ramps up as introductory promotions, advertising support, and word ofmouth combine to create an initial strong demand, then dips as the sell through period gives way to the maturation phase, with its own promotions and marketing programs attempting to shape demand over time. As the product life cycle unfolds, the demand planning solution compares actual demand versus the forecast. Statistical matching algorithms can be used to determine just how significantly actual demand has deviated from the prediction. The predictive accuracy of other demand profiles can be compared, and when a different profile provides a better match to the actual demand signal, it is swapped into play. At age 7 he was sent to boarding school by his parents. After finishing boarding school Bowlby went on to study psychology at Trinity College in Cambridge and worked with delinquent children. Once he graduated from Trinity he volunteered at a school and worked with two unstable children which inspired him to become a child psychiatrist. After this he went on to study medicine at University College Hospital then psychiatry at Maudsley Hospital. Our moon is believed to have been created about 4.5 billion years ago, when a large planetoid crashed into the Earth, spraying space debris which was gradually captured by gravity 2. Eventually, this material solidified into a body which we know as our moon. 3. This process is unique in our solar system as the other planet s moons were formed by capturing free floating bodies with their gravity 3. Physical Characteristics of the Moon Earth s moon is the brightest object in our night sky. It has an elliptical orbit around the earth every 27.322 days and it also takes approximately ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The gravitational force of the moon is strong enough to exert a pulling force on the Earth, but the Earth is able to hold on to everything except the water 7. As the water is in constant motion the moon gravity is able to create a pull on the water, causing it to bulge resulting in high tide 7. As the Moon and the earth are moving with respect to each other, the force creating high tide also moves over different parts of the earth. Each day, there are two high tides and two low tides, with about 12 hours and 25 minutes between the two high tides 7. However, these periods do not happen at the same time each day because the moon takes about 50 minutes more than earth s 24 hour day to exactly align again with the same point on the Earth. Therefore, the timing of high tides is staggered throughout the month, with each tide occurring approximately 24 hours and 50 minutes later than the previous one 6. It is also observed that the water on the opposite side of Earth which faces away from the Moon also experiences high tide 6. The reason is that the stronger centrifugal force pulls in the opposite direction to negate the moon s gravitational pull on the earth to keep them apart and thus causes the ocean water on the opposite side of the Earth to bulge and experience high tide ... Many factors influence and control social disorganization; this paper will explain exactly what social disorganization is, as well as its relationship or connection to organized crime and criminal behavior. Today s corrupt political groups can have a direct and immediate effect on social disorganization, as well as organized criminal activity ( Social Disorganization and Rural Communities , 2003). What is Social Disorganization? According to Bursik, (1988), the definition of social disorganization is an inability of community members to achieve shared values or to solve jointly experienced problems . Both theoretical and empirical research has focused on urban settings when studying influencers on crime and delinquencies. Current versions of social disorganization theory assume that strong social relationships will prevent crime and delinquency ( Social Disorganization and Rural Communities , 2003). Crime can become more prevalent spawned from neighborhoods with close living conditions such as apartment complexes or duplexes. Becoming a man means, according to Merriam Webster, one possessing in high degree the qualities considered distinctive of manhood; such as courage, strength, and vigor. To me becoming a man doesn t happen at a certain age, but I think it happens at a time when you possess manhood traits. In the Wake Tech Reader, Rodriguez talks about the independence children want when they grow up in his essay Family Values. From what I ve learned growing up, becoming a manmeans having responsibility, being self dependent, being financially stable to support yourself and possibly others, and having the toughnessand grit to get through anything that gets in your way. If you asked me what the most important qualities of becoming a man was, I d probably easily come back and say that responsibility is. When you become a man you have a lot of things your responsible to take care and do every so often. You have to be responsible enough to pay your bills and dues on time. You can t just forget things anymore, so you got to be on top of your game and have a schedule to get all your tasks done every day. As Winston Churchill once said, The price for greatness is responsibility. To be a successful man you need to be responsible for your actions and everything you do. You shouldn t have to be told to do something and that s a part of the new responsibilities that you have. Responsibility is one of the main qualities of being a man and without it some men may not be able to handle what happens in life. As I stated earlier, Rodriguez says kids these days are independent from their parents when they leave home. What immigrants know, what my parents certainly know, is that when you come to this country, you risk losing your children. Rodriguez is saying that it s a known fact that some kids grow up and come very independent with their family and in some cases don t come back and stay dependent of themselves. He also states that America encourages you to Become your own man. Becoming independent is probably the first step in becoming a man. Table 16 and 17 displays the results of the SVM prediction models. The same three variables that were used to predict the worldwide box office revenue was used again in the SVM algorithm. The results obtained from the models were slightly better than the linear regression models. SVM is more advanced then linear regression so it is not unexpected that SVM has given us a higher accuracy. The SVM models did not exceed the accuracy of the regression by much. The accuracies of the SVM models ranged from 81% 83%. Nevertheless the accuracies of the models predicting the worldwide box office revenues are impressive and shows movie studios how effective pre release data is. From Table 18, we have a good idea as to how Random Forest performs when predicting the success of movies. The accuracies of the various regression models indicate that the accuracies range form 82 85.71%. As there are 2 categories of success, Hit and Flop, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rebellion is known as the opposition to one in authority or dominance ( Rebellion ). Often when the term rebellion is mentioned, one may first imagine a group of unwelcoming individuals raising arms against a group in higher power such as those during the Revolutionary War. The Revolutionary War saw the colonists fighting back against the British who the colonists thought ruled unfairly. The Revolutionary War is an example of violent and confrontational rebellion but rebellion is not limited to loud and outlandish actions. Rebellion can also apply to subtle, almost unnoticed actions. Such can be said about those opposed to wearing animal products such as leather and furs. An individual that is opposed to animal cruelty may rebel against the action of wearing animal products by avoiding them altogether. As for personal demonstration, I recall being in middle school when a plethora of kids were playing with the Nintendo Wii, a newly released gaming console. Almost every friend of mine had the Wii and played it extensively. However, I was not amused by the system and decided that I didn t want to take part. I then began to rebel by not partaking in playing the game. This example of mine demonstrates a non aggressive take on rebellion, as I did not raise arms against my friends in an effort to show my opposition to the actions they ...
