Practice theories shape and form nursing interventions and patient education. Practice theories are formed from grand or middle range theories, research, and/or clinical practice (McEwen & Wills, 2018).
As a nurse practitioner, I plan to specialize in obstetrics and gynecology. Doering and Dufor created a practice-level theory that focuses on fatigue and sleep in women during the 6 months of post-partum. Doering and Dufor studied the women’s perseverance towards normalcy. It was found that in the early weeks of post-partum, women should be taught about social support to prevent severe fatigue and to promote sleep. Post-partum women need to establish a routine with their newborn infant to maximize sleep opportunities (McEwen & Wills, 2018).About one in five women will experience postpartum depression. It is important for healthcare professionals to recognize the signs and symptoms and risk factors of postpartum depression. It is also important to educate patients on the range of emotions and how to seek help. Beck’s Postpartum depression is a middle range theory (Marsh, 2013).By using Beck’s middle range theory and Deoring and Dufor’s practice theory, I can educate my patients on how to adjust to a new life and routine after having a baby. As a nurse practitioner, I will emphasize the importance of attending scheduled appointments. I can assess my patient’s mental and physical well-being. I can help the patient identify people in the patient’s life who can support the patient during their transition as a new parent. I can also refer them to local support groups.

After I graduate, I would like to be in a hospital setting. I would see myself applying the Synergy Model Theory together with the Madeline Leininger’s Cultural Care Diversity.
The Leininger’s theory is to provide care measures that are in harmony with a person’s cultural beliefs, practices, and values (Leininger, 2002). The patients and I would create management in which according to the patient’s culture (or the prevailing culture in my setting), their treatment of care would take into consideration their culture, practices, and values as well as their beliefs. This would make the patients feel valued and appreciated as well at feel “at home”.
I would also include the Synergy model as it relates to the patient, the nurse, and the system (McEwen, 2019). In the hospital, patients have specific characteristics, while nurses have specific competencies. The desired patient outcomes would be reached by matching the.

On a daily basis, healthcare providers are faced with an array of clinical decisions to be made in an efficient and timely manner. Translating evidence into best practices is one way to achieve this. Without current best evidence, practice is rapidly outdated, often to the detriment of the patient. Evidence based practice is the conscientious use of current best practice in making decisions about patient care (Sackett, Richardson, Rosenberg, & Hayes, 2000). It is important for health care professionals to ask questions about their current clinical practice. In this week’s threaded discussion you will ask that burning question that you ask in your daily care of your patients.
You’ll need to focus on asking the right questions, narrowing the questions to one that is nurse driven and the need for change is evident. The question that you formulate will be the question for your Capstone Project.
The process of reviewing scholarly articles for a change in practice is an important part of the development of any type of research project that can lead to a change in practice. As health informatics continues to grow at a rapid pace the question as to what the most effective way is to train its users has been considered. The patient is now expected to utilize technology to communicate with providers and evaluate their health through equipment and data portals. Healthcare workers must understand health informatics to both teach the patient and do their job effectively. It is important to note that health informatics is ever evolving and the learning, teaching for those involved in healthcare is never ending. Through research of different learning theories and styles this paper seeks to identify how the adult can most effectively be taught to utilize health informatics whether as a patient or healthcare provider

Health informatics can be defined as the practice of studying, acquiring, and controlling health data and the application of various medical concepts together with health information technology systems to enable healthcare professionals to provide patients with the best healthcare, it can also mean the application of informatics and information technology to deliver better healthcare to clients (Nelson & Staggers, 2016). Technology has been growing very fast in the past years and it has changed the way things are done in many fields and so is the healthcare system. Health informatics therefore has changed the way things are done in healthcare system hence ensuring that patients receive safe and effective healthcare services. This field of study makes use of theories that are used in other fields of study such as computer science, information science, and the science of the specific discipline such as nursing, medicine, or pharmacy. People who work as health informatics specialists make use of learning theories to guide them in their roles which include; designing and implementing online health records, offering training to other medical stuff on the use of the electronic health records (EHR), give the right information to those who consult them, come up with policies in the health institutions where they work, and also manage and analyze the impacts of those policies. The concept of a knowledge worker
The term “knowledge worker” was first coined by Peter Drucker. Ducker defined knowledge workers as high-level workers who apply theoretical and analytical knowledge, acquired through formal training, to develop products and services (CFI, 2019). He emphasized that due to the high level of productivity and creativity of knowledge worker, that they would be the most valuable assets in the 21st century organization. Professionals that can be referred to as knowledge worker includes engineers, pharmacists, architects, financial analysts, public accountants, physicians, scientists, design thinkers, and lawyers. Furthermore, knowledge workers have a high degree of expertise, experience, education and the primary purpose of their jobs involve the distribution, creation and application of knowledge.

Nursing Informatics is a subset of informatics, specific to the nursing field and the role of the nurse in the healthcare setting. There has been several interpretation of nursing informatics. The American Nurses Association (ANA), identified nursing informatics as a specialty that integrates nursing, science, computer science, and information science to manage and communicate data, information, and knowledge in nursing practice (ANA, 2001, pg.17).

Nurse leader as a knowledge worker.
A nurse leader is one who inspire others to work together to achieve a common goal, for instance enhanced patient care or satisfaction. All nurses are called to nurse leadership, however there are different levels of nurse leadership. Nurse leaders are expected to help the organization to fulfill the organization’s mission, vision, values, and strategies to achieve long-range plans. Unit Lesson
In Unit V, we addressed how theories and models such as the social cognitive theory, the health behavior
model, and the theory of planned behavior play a role in intervention planning. This unit, we will build on the
foundation of theories and models and look at how to be strategic in determining interventions. The reading
highlights the concerns that health educators should have as it relates to the design and evaluation process to
determine the successfulness of interventions for a given health behavior.
Intervention Strategizing
When a health educator is developing an intervention strategy to help with a particular health behavior, there
are a few key factors to consider: identifying the target population, selecting a setting, setting goals and
objectives, and identifying resources and a timeline. Each of these factors are a concern for health educators
when developing interventions (Powell et al., 2017).
Target population: Who are you planning the intervention for? Are there any special needs? For instance,
adolescents have special needs because they are in school during the day, so an intervention for them would
need to be after school, on the weekend, or through the school. An intervention for seniors should be held
during the day because seniors normally shy away from being out at dusk or dark. If the intervention were for
the working population, there would be better attendance in the evenings or weekends. The goal with
determining the population for the intervention is to think of alleviating any barriers that may affect most of the
population (Powell et al., 2017).
Setting: Where will the intervention be held? Is there handicap access for seniors or elevator accessibility? Is
the location easily accessible? Is there public parking? What is the room reservation process? Is the setting
outdoors, and if so, are there backup plans in case of bad weather? As the health educator, you should take
into account the best setting to meet the needs of the population that has been identified (Nilsen, 2015).

Improving practice through evidence not only helps lower healthcare costs, improve healthcare outcomes and patient safety, but it also helps to increase job satisfaction for medical professionals (Kim, et al, 2016). Disseminating information about widely cited evidence-based practices is an important part of moving our healthcare system forward. According to Melnyk (2012), it often takes several years for the results of research to be put into practice and actually affect patient care.
The first strategy that I would utilize to disseminate EBP information would be unit-level education. I would initially provide an in-service to provide education about the EBP that would be beneficial to our unit. I would also utilize a second strategy of unit posters as well as a unit-based champion to help reinforce the positive results of the EBP. Barriers to this types of information being learned and then used in practice would be each persons willingness to learn something new and change the way they may be used to doing something. I would combat this by starting out the presentation with information about evidence-based practice as well as provide a fact-sheet about the evidence in the research that is being presented. Another way I would combat this would be to lead by example and try to demonstrate the EBP in every day practice. Melnyk et al (2011) stated that in order “for clinicians to change their practices to be evidence based, both their beliefs about the value of EBP and their confid.

At the center of it all, I believe that this is achieved by utilizing a nursing concept targeting provision of the best quality of care possible that compels or mandates nurses to maximize the use of their advanced skills.
In this case, in articulating the high-quality nursing concept, I utilize the the nurse practitioner care model, which is designed to enhance the provision of high-quality care through a system that recognizes and enhances the contribution of the nurse practitioner into the healthcare system

Family Knowledge about Palliative Care
In the United States, the vast majority of palliative care is performed in the home. It is obvious that in this scenario the members of the family play a leading role. Most research related to palliative care in the United States does not describe the level of commitment of the patient and caregivers with such care. (Dillon, 2016).
In a study presented about "How home hospice facilitates patient and family engagement", his author, Dillon, describes how some caregivers cheered for instruction on how to manage their relatives palliative care in relation to the use of the comfort kit, including the management of morphine in relationship to be better prepared to relieve the pain of the patient (Dillon, 2016, pp.595). Another wife described how the education and holistic instruction provided was helpful in dealing with and understanding the care that would be provided to her husband. (Dillon, 2016).
The author concludes that offering instruction and education in relation to such difficult issues as helping to face death, has an important implication in the participation of the patient and the family in palliative care, and is the first necessary step to train patients and the family to make informed decisions (Dillon, 2016).

The concept of a knowledge worker
The term “knowledge worker” was first coined by Peter Drucker. Ducker defined knowledge workers as high-level workers who apply theoretical and analytical knowledge, acquired through formal training, to develop products and services (CFI, 2019). He emphasized that due to the high level of productivity and creativity of knowledge worker, that they would be the most valuable assets in the 21st century organization. Professionals that can be referred to as knowledge worker includes engineers, pharmacists, architects, financial analysts, public accountants, physicians, scientists, design thinkers, and lawyers. Furthermore, knowledge workers have a high degree of expertise, experience, education and the primary purpose of their jobs involve the distribution, creation and application of knowledge.

The American Nurses Association (ANA), identified nursing informatics as a specialty that integrates nursing, science, computer science, and information science to manage and communicate data, information, and knowledge in nursing practice (ANA, 2001, pg.17).

A nurse leader is one who inspire others to work together to achieve a common goal, for instance enhanced patient care or satisfaction. All nurses are called to nurse leadership, however there are different levels of nurse leadership. Nurse leaders are expected to help the organization to fulfill the organization’s mission, vision, values, and strategies to achieve long-range plans. Unit Lesson
In Unit V, we addressed how theories and models such as the social cognitive theory, the health behavior
model, and the theory of planned behavior play a role in intervention planning. This unit, we will build on the
foundation of theories and models and look at how to be strategic in determining interventions. The reading
highlights the concerns that health educators should have as it relates to the design and evaluation process to
determine the successfulness of interventions for a given health behavior.
Intervention Strategizing
When a health educator is developing an intervention strategy to help with a particular health behavior, there
are a few key factors to consider: identifying the target population, selecting a setting, setting goals and
objectives, and identifying resources and a timeline. Each of these factors are a concern for health educators
when developing interventions (Powell et al., 2017).
Target population: Who are you planning the intervention for? Are there any special needs? For instance,
adolescents have special needs because they are in school during the day, so an intervention for them would
need to be after school, on the weekend, or through the school. An intervention for seniors should be held
during the day because seniors normally shy away from being out at dusk or dark. If the intervention were for
the working population, there would be better attendance in the evenings or weekends. The goal with
determining the population for the intervention is to think of alleviating any barriers that may affect most of the
population (Powell et al., 2017).
Setting: Where will the intervention be held? Is there handicap access for seniors or elevator accessibility? Is
the location easily accessible? Is there public parking? What is the room reservation process? Is the setting
outdoors, and if so, are there backup plans in case of bad weather? As the health educator, you should take
into account the best setting to meet the needs of the population that has been identified (Nilsen, 2015).

Improving practice through evidence not only helps lower healthcare costs, improve healthcare outcomes and patient safety, but it also helps to increase job satisfaction for medical professionals (Kim, et al, 2016). Disseminating information about widely cited evidence-based practices is an important part of moving our healthcare system forward. According to Melnyk (2012), it often takes several years for the results of research to be put into practice and actually affect patient care.
The first strategy that I would utilize to disseminate EBP information would be unit-level education. I would initially provide an in-service to provide education about the EBP that would be beneficial to our unit. I would also utilize a second strategy of unit posters as well as a unit-based champion to help reinforce the positive results of the EBP. Barriers to this types of information being learned and then used in practice would be each persons willingness to learn something new and change the way they may be used to doing something. I would combat this by starting out the presentation with information about evidence-based practice as well as provide a fact-sheet about the evidence in the research that is being presented. Another way I would combat this would be to lead by example and try to demonstrate the EBP in every day practice. Melnyk et al (2011) stated that in order “for clinicians to change their practices to be evidence based, both their beliefs about the value of EBP and their confid.

In this case, in articulating the high-quality nursing concept, I utilize the the nurse practitioner care model, which is designed to enhance the provision of high-quality care through a system that recognizes and enhances the contribution of the nurse practitioner into the healthcare system

Family Knowledge about Palliative Care
In the United States, the vast majority of palliative care is performed in the home. It is obvious that in this scenario the members of the family play a leading role. Most research related to palliative care in the United States does not describe the level of commitment of the patient and caregivers with such care. (Dillon, 2016).
In a study presented about "How home hospice facilitates patient and family engagement", his author, Dillon, describes how some caregivers cheered for instruction on how to manage their relatives palliative care in relation to the use of the comfort kit, including the management of morphine in relationship to be better prepared to relieve the pain of the patient (Dillon, 2016, pp.595). Another wife described how the education and holistic instruction provided was helpful in dealing with and understanding the care that would be provided to her husband. (Dillon, 2016).
The author concludes that offering instruction and education in relation to such difficult issues as helping to face death, has an important implication in the participation of the patient and the family in palliative care, and is the first necessary step to train patients and the family to make informed decisions (Dillon, 2016).

BY THE 1970s, psychologists had done a series of studies establishing the social power of groups. They showed, for example, that groups of strangers could persuade people to believe statements that were obviously false. Psychologists had also found that research participants were often willing to obey authority figures even when doing so violated their personal beliefs. The Yale studies by Stanley Milgram in 1963 demonstrated that a majority of ordinary citizens would continually shock an innocent man, even up to near-lethal levels, if commanded to do so by someone acting as an authority. The "authority" figure in this case was merely a high-school biology teacher who wore a lab coat and acted in an official manner. The majority of people shocked their victims over and over again despite increasingly desperate pleas to stop.
In my own work, I wanted to explore the fictional notion from William Golding's Lord of the Flies about the power of anonymity to unleash violent behavior. In one experiment from 1969, female students who were made to feel anonymous and given permission for aggression became significantly more hostile than students with their identities intact. Those and a host of other social-psychological studies were showing that human nature was more pliable than previously imagined and more responsive to situational pressures than we cared to acknowledge. In sum, these studies challenged the sacrosanct view that inner determinants of behavior--personality traits, morality, and religious upbringing--directed good people down righteous paths.
Missing from the body of social-science research at the time was the direct confrontation of good versus evil, of good people pitted against the forces inherent in bad situations. It was evident from everyday life that smart people made dumb decisions when they were engaged in mindless groupthink, as in the disastrous Bay of Pigs invasion by the smart guys in President John F. Kennedy's cabinet. It was also clear that smart people surrounding President Richard M. Nixon, like Henry A. Kissinger and Robert S. McNamara, escalated the Vietnam War when they knew, and later admitted, it was not winnable. They were .

BY THE 1970s, psychologists had done a series of studies establishing the social power of groups. They showed, for example, that groups of strangers could persuade people to believe statements that were obviously false. Psychologists had also found that research participants were often willing to obey authority figures even when doing so violated their personal beliefs. The Yale studies by Stanley Milgram in 1963 demonstrated that a majority of ordinary citizens would continually shock an innocent man, even up to near-lethal levels, if commanded to do so by someone acting as an authority. The "authority" figure in this case was merely a high-school biology teacher who wore a lab coat and acted in an official manner. The majority of people shocked their victims over and over again despite increasingly desperate pleas to stop.
In my own work, I wanted to explore the fictional notion from William Golding's Lord of the Flies about the power of anonymity to unleash violent behavior. In one experiment from 1969, female students who were made to feel anonymous and given permission for aggression became significantly more hostile than students with their identities intact. Those and a host of other social-psychological studies were showing that human nature was more pliable than previously imagined and more responsive to situational pressures than we cared to acknowledge. In sum, these studies challenged the sacrosanct view that inner determinants of behavior--personality traits, morality, and religious upbringing--directed good people down righteous paths.
Missing from the body of social-science research at the time was the direct confrontation of good versus evil, of good people pitted against the forces inherent in bad situations. It was evident from everyday life that smart people made dumb decisions when they were engaged in mindless groupthink, as in the disastrous Bay of Pigs invasion by the smart guys in President John F. Kennedy's cabinet. It was also clear that smart people su.

The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Practice theories shape and form nursing interventions and
patient education. Practice theories are formed from grand or
middle range theories, research, and/or clinical practice
(McEwen & Wills, 2018).
As a nurse practitioner, I plan to specialize in obstetrics and
gynecology. Doering and Dufor created a practice-level theory
that focuses on fatigue and sleep in women during the 6 months
of post-partum. Doering and Dufor studied the women’s
perseverance towards normalcy. It was found that in the early
weeks of post-partum, women should be taught about social
support to prevent severe fatigue and to promote sleep. Post-
partum women need to establish a routine with their newborn
infant to maximize sleep opportunities (McEwen & Wills,
2018).About one in five women will experience postpartum
depression. It is important for healthcare professionals to
recognize the signs and symptoms and risk factors of
postpartum depression. It is also important to educate patients
on the range of emotions and how to seek help. Beck’s
Postpartum depression is a middle range theory (Marsh,
2013).By using Beck’s middle range theory and Deoring and
2. Dufor’s practice theory, I can educate my patients on how to
adjust to a new life and routine after having a baby. As a nurse
practitioner, I will emphasize the importance of attending
scheduled appointments. I can assess my patient’s mental and
physical well-being. I can help the patient identify people in the
patient’s life who can support the patient during their transition
as a new parent. I can also refer them to local support groups.

After I graduate, I would like to be in a hospital setting. I would
see myself applying the Synergy Model Theory together with
the Madeline Leininger’s Cultural Care Diversity.
The Leininger’s theory is to provide care measures that are in
harmony with a person’s cultural beliefs, practices, and values
(Leininger, 2002). The patients and I would create management
in which according to the patient’s culture (or the prevailing
culture in my setting), their treatment of care would take into
consideration their culture, practices, and values as well as their
beliefs. This would make the patients feel valued and
appreciated as well at feel “at home”.
I would also include the Synergy model as it relates to the
patient, the nurse, and the system (McEwen, 2019). In the
hospital, patients have specific characteristics, while nurses
have specific competencies. The desired patient outcomes
would be reached by matching the patient's needs and
characteristics with appropriate nurse competencies, working
towards common goals in a way that benefits both the patient
and the nurse.
