This document discusses how Naviance Alumni Tracker can help schools track post-secondary outcomes of alumni. It allows schools to obtain data on where alumni enrolled in college, degrees completed, and other outcomes directly from the National Student Clearinghouse within Naviance. This helps schools measure effectiveness, make data-driven decisions, and meet reporting requirements. The document provides examples of how schools can use reports in Naviance to analyze outcomes by student characteristics and groups. It also discusses how schools can use the data to set goals, motivate staff and students, and share progress with stakeholders.
Dual Enrollment: A Strategy for Career Readiness WebinarHobsons
AASA, The School Superintendents Association, has partnered with Hobsons to explore ways to support better educational decision-making at each point in the learning lifecycle. Recently, Hobsons conducted a survey with AASA to assess the current state of dual enrollment in US high schools to develop a better understanding on the perceived benefits of such programs and whether they can be an effective indicator for diagnosing student readiness for college.

As colleges grapple with enrollment, retention, and completion difficulties, it’s clear that students need a better understanding of just how a college education can help them on the path to a solid career. Community colleges play a key role in solving this problem. When colleges use data to clearly demonstrate the connection between education and the labor market, students have the information they need to choose smart careers, select the education that is right for them, and then stick with that education to the end. In this webinar, Noah Brown, CEO of ACCT, and EMSI’s Gabriel Rench discuss how community colleges impact the economy, how they can demonstrate the ways they serve their students and communities, and how they can engage young people about career and education decisions before they hit college.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.
This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

3. What is The National Student
Clearinghouse?
The National Student Clearinghouse® is a non-
profit organization providing education
verification for higher education institutions.
More than 3,400 colleges and universities,
enrolling 96% of all students in public and
private U.S. institutions, participate in the
Clearinghouse.
4. What is Naviance Alumni Tracker?
Naviance Alumni Tracker allows schools to obtain
alumni post-secondary outcome data from the
Clearinghouse directly within Naviance. Schools
submit alumni information to the Clearinghouse from
Naviance, and the Clearinghouse populates post-
secondary outcome data.
The data includes where alumni have enrolled in
college, the terms they completed, and degrees
earned.
5. Current Situation for Many Schools
1. Inability to measure a high school’s effectiveness in placing
students in degree programs
1. Current / future state and federal requirements for reporting
post-secondary outcomes
1. Inability to make data-driven decisions based on student
performance after high school (i.e. where to invest resources in
high school based on post-secondary outcomes)
2. No systematic way to connect current students to graduates
attending specific colleges
1. No data available to set goals for college enrollment and
completion (i.e., using data to motivate staff and students)
6. How Can Alumni Tracker Help?
1. Systematically receive data on graduate’s outcomes, populated
directly in Naviance. Report to your community, your school, or
prospective students about your school’s success in placing
students in college.
1. Meet or get ahead of requirements for reporting post-secondary
outcomes
1. Run reports to make data-driven decisions based on student
performance after high school
2. Easily track where students attend college to connect current
students who are interested in those schools
1. Share data on the school’s post-secondary outcomes with school
staff and students. Set goals to motivate the school community
7. With Alumni Tracker, You Can Also…
1. Compare your college enrollment and completion rates to state
averages.*
1. Break down the data to understand outcomes based on the
following characteristics:
Race
Ethnicity
Gender
High school GPA
Standardized test scores

16. Using the Data
Report Title Specific Value
Degree Earned by
Time Frame
Know how many years it took for graduates to earn
a degree. This report helps answer the questions:
-Are students taking a long time to complete
degrees?
-How do our students compare to their peers across
the state?
You can see state averages for time to completion in
the report Time is the Enemy.
18. Using the Data
With Alumni Tracker, you can determine post-secondary outcomes
for any student group within Naviance. Some schools track
outcomes for the following groups:
1.Students receiving free or reduced
2.English language learners
3.Student athletes
4.Students in a pre-engineering program
5.Students in after school programs or club
6.First Generation college-going students
7.AVID, College Summit, or Upward Bound students
8.Students with learning disabilities
9.Any other student group in Naviance
For each group, you can ask, is there a correlation between students
participating in these activities and college attendance and completion?
How should we allocate resources based on these results?
19. Using the Data
Naviance reports also allow you to combine different student
characteristics and run reports on those combinations. For
example:
1.How many African-American students with GPAs between 2.0-3.0
graduated from a 4-year college within 5 years?
2.How many Latino students with GPAs between 3.0 – 4.0 enrolled
in a post-secondary degree program?
3.How many ELL students with SAT scores below 1600 attended 2-
year or 4-year degree programs.
21. Using the Data
Several additional ways to use the data:
1.Share improvements in college enrollment and completion with
the press and local community. Showcase students’ achievements
and the progress you have made.
2.For private schools, share statistics about your school with
prospective students and their families.
3.Share post-secondary enrollment data with school staff during a
kick-off meeting at the start of school. Use the data to set goals and
rally school staff to help students make a successful transition after
high school.
22. Q+A / Sharing Your Experience
• Questions?
• How have you used post-
secondary outcome data in your
school?
