Norfolk Island is an external territory of Australia located in the South Pacific Ocean. It has a population of around 2,000 residents and was originally settled by the descendants of the Bounty mutineers in 1856. Today, most residents are of either solely European or mixed European and Tahitian ancestry, with many young people having moved away from the island. English is the main language spoken on Norfolk Island.
