This document provides an overview of neurological emergencies related to seizures, status epilepticus, and neuromuscular weakness. It reviews the pathophysiology of seizures and status epilepticus and approaches to treatment. Common causes of neuromuscular weakness are categorized as upper motor neuron, lower motor neuron, neuromuscular junction, muscle, or non-neuromuscular. Key diagnoses that must not be missed like Guillain-Barré syndrome, botulism, and myasthenia gravis are discussed in detail with regards to presentation, diagnosis, and management. Management of weakness focuses on localization of the lesion and treatment of underlying etiologies.
