2. Introduction
Tech : SlideShare is a hosting service for professional content including
presentations, infographics, documents, and videos.
Origin : SlideShare was officially launched on October 4, 2006. Jonathan Boutelle
is the CTO of SlideShare and came up with the initial idea behind the website. He
wrote the first version of the site.
Creator : Rashmi Sinha is the CEO and co-founder of SlideShare. SlideShare
was acquired by LinkedIn in 2012

3. Source : There are multiple ways to get it i.e. website(“www.slideshare.net”),
android application, iOS application etc.
Cost : This is an Open Source slide sharing platform that means it is free.
Features : SlideShare includes features called view, like, share, download as well
as rate the presentations and uploaded content.
In February 2011 SlideShare added a feature called Zipcasts. A Zipcast is a social
web conferencing system that allows presenters to broadcast an audio/video feed
while driving the presentation through the Internet.

4. Relevancy to TESL
● Currently, SlideShare holds more than 1600 presentations related to TESL.
● SlideShare also provides users the ability to rate, comment on, and share the
uploaded content.
● Great language scholars and experienced teachers can review different works
and rate them.
● A specific institution can create groups on SlideShare and students can share
unique informations and data in the groups.
● TESL teachers as well as students can find lesson plans and activities related
to CLB levels for reference purpose.
