Credit Recovery Courses accepted:
 Course must be comparable in length, content, and rigor to original course.
 Course requires regular instruction and ongoing student/teacher interaction.
 Course requires teacher to be certified and qualified.
 Course uses assessments such as quizzes, exams, or assignments.
Credit Recovery Courses that may not be accepted:
 Instruction is not teacher based.
 No evidence of ongoing interaction between the student and teacher.
 Course only requires students to do part of the class (ex: test out modules).
 Course allows students to complete course in a shorter period of time than original
course.
 Courses are taken at the same time.
 Course lacks formal assessments.
What to do if your student-athlete is behind academically?
 Talk to your child’s school counselor for guidance.
 Obtain tutoring from a teacher or an outside tutoring source.
 Consider district approved summer school.
 Do not try a “quick fix” through credit recovery or short cuts.

Recommendation:
 Stay on track academically.
 Sign up for 4-yr College prep course and take required courses early.
 All courses should meet the high school graduation requirements.
