Recommendations
The following recommendations are based on
the feedback from the 3 Saskatoon Public
schools who participated in the B.Y.O.D.
pilot, 2012-2013.
Leadership
Recommendations:
• Create a leadership team of 4-6 committed members
• Leadership team members must have sound understanding of the goals, and a sound
pedagogical understanding of transformative technology Support
pioneers/champions within your staff who are willing to experiment.
• Provide opportunities for your staff to demonstrate leadership through sharing
• Administrators need to support the initiative and keep it on the staff radar at all times
• If applicable, choose a S.I.T.L. who has the capacity to work well with staff- provide
them with at least one period per day in their timetable.
• Align the initiative with school and division priorities /Embed within the school goal.

Principal, Vice-Principal, Teacher Librarian, teacher representative and SPS consultant.
• Secondary Leadership team members:

Staff Supports
General Recommendations:
• Provide regular scheduled differentiated P.D. opportunities
• Build in opportunities to gather feedback from staff – this will guide your
leadership team in their future actions and allow them to be responsive to
their learners needs.
• Enlist the help of expert facilitators whenever possible
• Provide samples of what transformative technology looks like in the
classroom.
• Develop a plan to assess where students and staff are at as you move
forward so that you can reteach, adjust and suit to your staff needs
• Provide P.D. in specific subject areas/grade levels.
• Develop a communication plan to include weekly memos, staff virtual
space
• C.I.T./T.L.G: provide time for your staff to create an effective question that
integrates technology in a meaningful way.
