This document describes 5 types of forests in India: 1) Tropical Rain Forests (Evergreen forests) which are found in mountain ranges of Northeast India, Western Ghats, Himalayas and Andaman/Nicobar Islands where rainfall is over 200 cm annually. Trees remain green year-round. 2) Tropical Deciduous Forests. 3) Thorn and Scrub Forests. 4) Tidal Forests (Mangrove Forests). 5) Mountain Forests which have tall trees forming a dense canopy.
