3. WHAT IS NATIONAL SAFETY WEEK?
National safety week is celebrated
from 4th March to 10th March in
every year since 1972.
This day and week is celebrated to
raise awareness to reduce the
number of accidents/ incidents at
the work place and in our day to
day life.
4. HISTORY
National Safety Council was established by The
Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of
India on 4th March 1966 as a non profit, self
financing body.
In 1970 first national conference was conducted in
Mumbai on ‘Industrial Safety’.
In 1972 started celebrating National Safety Day to
mark foundation day.
In 1985 National Safety Council became the
founder member of Asia-Pacific Occupational safety
and Health Organization (APOSHO).

5. OBJECTIVE OF NATIONA SAFETY
WEEK CELEBRATION
The main objective of National Safety Week
celebration is to highlight safety measures and ensure
that people are aware of them and follow them to
avoid workplace accidents/incidents.
Another objective is to raise awareness about the
importance of safety at workplace, home and
communities etc.
To encourage people to be more aware of common
safety protocols.
7. Theme for the year is ‘Focus on Safety
Leadership for ESG(Environment, Social
and Governance) Excellence.
This underscores the strategic integration
of safety practices with Environmental,
Social and Governance principles.
‘Safety for a Sustainable future’
It highlights the necessity of a strategy that
incorporates safety into every facet of our
lives to attain longevity.
8. HOW TO IMPLEMENT
Make policies, rules and SOPs etc. Implement and
follow these rules honestly and transparently.
These rules shall be followed in such a way to
reduce any impact on Environment.
Every level of society (Employee, customer, vendor,
nearby community etc.) should feel happy.
The Governance of organization shall work as per
ethics, honesty and transparency.
Leadership shall show right path to their peers to
develop trust and positivity.
