Health is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the
absence of disease or infirmity.
Health agencies are public agencies or private organisations that are primarily engaged in
providing skilled or paraprofessional health care to individuals in out-of-hospital settings.
National Health Agencies are organisations that have its own administrative body or
committee that raises funds through its members or from private sources. It has paid or
voluntary staff. Works for health promotion, health education and health legislation, etc.

Services - Children
Indian Council For Child Welfare aims to secure
Indian children and those opportunities and
facilities which are necessary to develop them
physically mentally,spiritually and socially in a
healthy and normal manner.
-It is connected with the international children
welfare council. It is voluntarily engaged in
promoting development services for children.
ACTIVITES
Day care centre
These centres provide services to small children (0-3 years) by giving
food, care and protection. The scheme has been found very fruitful
and essential for working mothers.
Pre-school
These centres cater to children ageing between 3 and 6 years. Non
Formal education is implemented and nutrition is also given to them.
Orphanages
The department provides grant-in-aid to voluntary organisations
properly registered under Society Registration Act and who are
engaged in the welfare of orphans.

ACTIVITES
Recreational centre cum children's library
Recreational centre cum children's library has been opened at
different places to enable the children to spend their leisure time in a
beneficial manner and to guide them in their future lives. Selected
books and material have been supplied to these centres for this
purpose.
State council for child welfare
It was constituted to provide services to the children in need of care
and protection and to promote child development in line with the
aims and objectives of the Indian council of child welfare.

FAMILY PLANNING ASSOCIATION OF INDIA
● FPAI has been recognized as India’s Leading and
Largest Reproduction and Sexual Health Organization.
● FPAI strengthens a voluntary and non government
commitment to promote sexual and reproductive health
and rights including family planning. It supports the
right of individuals to reproductive choices including
legal and safe abortion, works toward reducing spread
of HIV/AIDS and increasing access to education and
services to all specialties of the young and eliminating
violence,discrimination and abuse.

ASSOCIATION OF INDIA

TAI basically encourages prevention,control,treatment and relief of
tuberculosis.
It is a voluntary organisation and is a registered society. Some of
the institution run by this association are:
1. Lady Linlithgow Tuberculosis Sanatorium,Kasauli
2. King Edward vii Sanatorium, Dharampur
3. Tuberculosis hospital, Mehrauli
4. New Delhi tuberculosis centre
1. To prevention, control, treatment and relief from tuberculosis.
2. To undertake the research work and investigation on subjects
concerning tuberculosis and allied chest diseases.

★ Publication of the prestigious Indian Journals of Tuberculosis quarterly since 1953.

❏ Maintaining a house called "Shanti Illam" at Vellore (Tamil Nadu) where
leprosy patients who come for surgical treatment at the Christian Medical
College and Hospital, Vellore are provided free boarding and lodging
facilities.
❏ Providing assistance to voluntary organisations and leprosy patients.
❏ Running of two mobile leprosy treatment units in two districts of Delhi
(Northeast and West) with funds provided by the Government of India .

The central social welfare board is an
autonomous organisation under the
general administrative control of the
Ministry of education. It is also known as
‘Kendriya Samaj Kalyan Board.’They carry
out welfare activities for promoting
voluntarism, providing technical and
financial assistance to the voluntary
organisations for the general welfare of
family, women and children

● Surveying the needs and requirements of voluntary welfare
organisations in the country.
● Promoting and setting up social welfare organisations in the country.
● Condensed courses of education and vocational training.
● Awareness generation programme for rural and poor women.
● To help lower middle class women in urban areas to supplement their
family income by doing paid work.
● The activities of project comprise teaching of craft,social
education,literacy classes,distribution of milk,supplementary food to
pregnant women,
● To provide rehabilitative services to women and children who are
victim of family maladjustments .
Bharat Sevak Samaj was formed in
1952. It is non political , non

for voluntary work and to enlist
people’s participation in National
reconstruction programmes.

KASTURBA MEMORIAL FUND
Kasturba Memorial Fund was created in
commemoration of Kasturba Gandhi after her
death in 1944. The fund was raised for the
improvement of women’s status.

To raise the standard of Indian women.
FUNCTION
This fund is utilised for the programmes and
activities which benefit the women especially in
villages through gram sevikas.
