It is registered, secular, apolitical, nonprofit And a non
governmental organization.
3. OBJECTIVES
To ensure for children their basic human right to survival,
physical, mental and social development and opportunities
to grow to their full potential.
To work for the protection of children against neglect,
abuse and exploitation.
To initiate, support or undertake any activity for
betterment of families and communities, which will
ultimately enhance the quality of life for children.
4. To promote dissemination of knowledge and information.
To educate public opinion on Child Welfare /
Development programmes on a scientific basis.
To promote enactments of legislation relating to matters
concerning children and their welfare and to work
towards the implementation of the provisions of the
Acts.

them to develop physically, mentally, morally, spiritually and society in health
and normal manner.

leading to well being and happiness both.
6. The Indian Council for Child Welfare is one of the pioneer
voluntary organizations providing early childhood care
through the crèche programme across the country for
over three decades.
7. OUR VISION
A society which cares for its children by giving first
priority to their needs, rights and protection thereby
ensuring their capacity for self-help.
8. OUR METHODS
The current activities of the Council can be viewed as falling
in three broad categories:-

9. RAJIV GANDHI NATIONAL CRECHE SCHEME
The programme was recast by the Government of India
in 2006 as the Rajiv Gandhi National Creche Scheme for
Children of Working Mothers.
At present, ICCW runs 5303 crèches across 31 States and
Union Territories in the country.Through this programme
ICCW covers tribal, rural and urban children across 449
districts.
10. SCHEME
Provides day care services to children (0-6 years) of working
mothers.
Holistic care for the physical, mental and emotional development
of these children, and delivers the following services:
Every crèche cares for approximately 25 children.
Each crèche is managed by a crèche worker and a helper.

Non formal pre-education school for children.

15. RIGHTS OF CHILDREN
The ten basic rights of the child are:
1. Right to develop in an atmosphere of affection and security and protection
against all forms of neglect, cruelty, exploitation and traffic.
2. Right to enjoy the benefits of social security, including nutrition, housing and
medical care.
3. Right to a name and nationality.
4.Right to free education.
5.Right to full opportunity for play and recreation.

7.Right to be among the first to receive protection and relief in times of
disaster.
8.Right to learn to be a useful member of society and to develop in a healthy
