What Are The Main Features Of The News System
To design a system with good usability, it is necessary to analyse and grasp the users needs or
requirements. Different users or audiences might have different needs for the news system so it is very
difficult for a system to catch up all the needs. With the help of locating the target user group for the
news system, the scope of audience could be decreased, which could allow designers to discover
specific users needs easily. In addition, through finding the target user group, people could integrate
the users need into the core values of the system better, which could help the whole system to enhance
the usability and become more competitive than other news systems or applications in the market. Due
to this, this section is going to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, the fourth feature of the target user for this system is that the target users would want a constant
stream of new information and they would want some short news or some highlighted interesting
information as well in order to read through a large amount of news in a short time.
Furthermore, the target user group of this news system would have different news related behaviours.
To catch up the target users needs and enhance the usability of the whole system, the news system
would support some specific new related behaviours. One of specific news related behaviours
supported by the system is that the target users would look through some popular or hot news listed on
the homepage of the system in order to spend less time on searching for the news or information
which they want because many target users would want to catch up the trend and collect a large
amount of information in a short time. As a result of this, many target users would through viewing
the news listed on homepage to grasp some latest news or events happened in their countries or in the
worldwide. Another news related behaviour is that while the target users use the news system to
encounter different news or information, they would share the links of news or information to other
people on different social media platforms. Because of

The Life Of Eleanor Roosevelt Essay
The Life of Eleanor Roosevelt Compared to Jill Petrasek Eleanor Roosevelt was a remarkable woman
who was incomparable because of how much she had wanted to change the world. She had helped
society take action by fighting for equality between all women and men, blacks and white, and many
more things that she had believed in. Eleanor Roosevelt had a hard life when growing up due to the
fact that his mom had died when Eleanor was at young age (Ellwood 6). This had made her have to
move in with her grandparents, which meant that it would be harder to keep in contact with her father
because he was not with her (Ellwood 6). Eleanor and her father were still able to keep in contact due
to the fact that they wrote letters to each other frequently (Ellwood 6). This in fact had helped Eleaner
to grow due to the fact that her dad had told her to work hard, and be instructable to the outside world.
The letters had halted at the age of ten because her father had passed away (Ellwood 6). The fact that
her dad had passed away made her feel like she had no one to talk to which made her feel lonely
(Ellwood 6). After Eleanor s father s passing she became sheepish and reserved to the outside world
until she had meet a teacher by the name of Ms. Souvestre who showed her to be confident and how
smart she really was (Ellwood 9). Souvestre had also advised Eleanor to always say what was on her
mind and stand up for what was right and what she believed even if there were extreme

Flybe Group PLC is a low cost airline with head office in Exeter, England. It is the largest European
regional airline, which carried 7.7 million passengers to 65 airports in more than 200 routes in Europe
in 2014.The Group operates 98 aircrafts, operating in 10 countries. Now the Group competes with
European giants, such as British Airways, Air France, Lufthansa, KLM, to name but four.
Jersey European Airways was founded on 1 November 1979 by John Habin, the major investor in
Intra Airways, after the merger of Intra Airways with Bournemouth Express. By 1983 the new

At first, I understood the basic principles of what accountants do and how they work. Secondly I took
another step toward my profession by learning some key terms in accounting and improving my way
of thinking about how businesses work. I was amazed by how meticulous accountants should be,
because even the slightest mistake may get a person or even a company in a lot of troubles.
I believe that my experience during the course helped me improve not only my knowledge and
perception about accounting and the world in general, but also group assignments were a good
practice in communication and teambuilding. In both groups, where I have participated during this
semester, everyone worked on equal conditions. We were trying to assign duties among ourselves by
mutual consent and personal abilities. We were learning from our mistakes, and I believe that this
experience was a worthy investment in our future lives.
Finally, BUS 220 was the most exciting and enjoyable course in this semester for me among other
business courses that I ve taken. Now I do not doubt that Business Administration is a right major for

Comparing The American Dream And Bennett s Poly
Behind any reality lies a dream. The American Dream is an ever evolving concept, that every person
has an equivalent chance at being successful and content. It has become a conflicting idea with people
disagreeing over the possibility of actually attaining it. There are those who take a pessimistic outlook
and refuse to believe that there s more to life than what they set out to accomplish. They live in a
negative dream like state where there own cynicism prevents them from reaching and achieving their
dream. Those who attain their dream are the go getters who wake up from this illusion and take an
optimistic view towards seeking their dream. We as a people pursuing the dream, must change with it
to achieve it. It still remains a reality today ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the poem America by Claude Mckay, the speaker s feelings towards America are discussed. This
quote shows how with perseverance The American Dream is possible and how when it is finally
reached its worth all the hardships that were faced. The speaker says, I love this cultured hell that tests
my youth: her vigor flows like tides into my blood. Giving me strength erect against her hate. (14 ).
The speaker in the poem focuses on the big picture. He knows that the struggles that are being thrust
upon him will be worthwhile once his dream is accomplished. It will mean so much more since there
was work that was put into achieving his dream. From the same poem, America , by Claude Mckay the
preceding quote explains how with hard work, motivation and determination any of your most
astounding dreams can become a reality. The quote says, Yet as a rebel fronts a king in state i stand
within her walls with not a shred of fear, or malice, not a word of jeer. Darkly i gaze into the days
ahead, and see her might and granite wonders there, Beneath the touch of Time s unerring hand, like
priceless treasures sinking in the sand. (14). The speakers perceives that he must overcome all
adversities to achieve the grandeur that is his dream. Although through all the obstacles that lie ahead,
his dream may appear to be a hazy mirage. He knows that once his dream is achieved

Friedrich Von Hayek Essay
John Maynard Keynes first reached success during 1919 (Marron). His theory for economic success
involved government use of fiscal policy. He believed that during times of downturn, the government
should spend money into new projects, public spending, tax cuts, and transfer payment; which would
lead to money once again circulating. But during times of success booms , the government should
spend less and concentrate on saving for the next crash. He also argued that aggregate demand was the
key to the business cycle. When aggregate demand was low the business cycle would crash, leading to
high unemployment.
Friedrich von Hayek ideas became popular starting around the 1970s (Marron). His argument for
economic success contradicted those of Keynes. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If we don t try to steer them they won t go berserk. (Ransom)
http://hayekcenter.org/?p=4804
This stanza explains Hayek s beliefs on less government involvement and more freedom to the people
to make decisions. Government spending creates inflation troubles . He wants government to stop
giving money to people that aren t employed because they should be independent. This approach is
laissez faire because he wants people to do what they want by letting the market synchronize with the
people s demands without government intervening let prices work . Prices wont go berserk if their is
no Socialism. All socialism does is lead to sloppy performances if the government plans to steer the
economy. The article explains that the economy might be headed towards a downturn because the
economy growth rate has not increased. Corporations sales and profits are decreasing spending
leading to a drop in aggregate demand. Although employment is high personal savings have gone up
.2% which means consumers are spending less and more cautiously. Consumer spending has been
negative or flat showing signs of a possible recession to come. This reflects Keynes idea that
aggregate demand is correlated with the business

Health and Social Care- Public Health P1, P2
P2: Describe the Origins of Public Health Policy in the UK from the 19th Century to the Present Day.
1837 The law started registering births, marriages and deaths and began to notice differences in areas.
This was because of diseases going round and many people were dying. They wanted to figure out
where about the illnesses were most common.
1848 The Liberal government brought the Public Health Act into law.
1849 Unfortunately, a massive amount of 10,000 people died from the disease cholera.
1853 Vaccination for smallpox was made compulsory and started by Edward Jenner; this was because
a great amount of people were getting ill and dying from it.

For example, pregnancy is a target where the nation wants to reduce how many young girls get
pregnant. To reduce this contraception is purchasable in every supermarket, pharmacy s etc... In
addition, there are companies that give away free contraception to reduce teenage pregnancy. Not only
does contraception help prevent pregnancy but prevents people catching sexually transmitted diseases
like HIV, Chlamydia and syphilis.
M1: compare historical and current features of public health.
Things that happened years ago have all changed to nowadays; either by a few changes but still very
similar or dramatically changed in a positive way.
Firstly, access to medical care. Years ago medical care in the 19th century was not very good. The
hospitals were very basic, many beds in a large room (ward) there were very rarely curtains around the
beds for privacy because in those days clothes were short and extra material would be made into
clothing. Also, they may not have been very clean, they were hygienic to work in but for people that
were very ill they may of made that person more poorly. Clinics were similar; they had the basic bed
to check patients on and the small amount of medicines. Not all the time did they have the correct
suitable medication for patients. So some patients may have had to suffer for longer than what they
should off because it was hard to get medication that was going to cure

Margaret Cavendish s Use Of Imagery
To hunt or be hunted
Imagery of the hunt traces back to Francesco Petrarch s sonnets, and perhaps further. This imagery has
been predominantly used by male writers, and consequently the trope is framed through the male
voice. It generally features a male lover in the position of the huntsman, and his female object of
desire in the position of the hunted, often represented as a deer or a bird. As a result, the metaphor of
the hunt is often romanticized and huntsmans are disarmed and portrayed as lovers. Margaret
Cavendish responds to this trope with her poem The Hunting of the Hare, in which she provides a
much different understanding of the interaction by writing from the point of view of the hunted.
Cavendish flips the narrative to expose ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Beginning with sympathy: Cavendish sets up the hunted, rather than the huntsmen, as the object of
sympathy. In order to do so, she first personifies the hare. She gives him a name: Wat, which already
humanizes the creature and directs the reader s sympathy towards the hare rather than the huntsmen,
who have yet to be introduced. The hare is also depicted using his forefeet [to rub] his face from dust,
and sweat (40), an action similar to a person using their hands to wipe their face. Furthermore,
Cavendish describes the hare s weeping eyes (81), and since most animals cannot weep it further
personifies the hare by ascribing to him a human expression of deep emotion. In personifying the hare,
Cavendish diminishes the distance between the creature and her readers, making it easier to relate to
and sympathize with the hare. Secondly, Cavendish sets Wat up to be an intelligent and rational
creature. She opens the poem by presenting him lying in a calculated and well thought out position to
stay warm and fend off the wind. She further claims that he is wise (7), and references His thoughts
(24). Lastly, Wat s intelligence is exemplified by his clever use of a strategy: he decides to try Winding
about, for to deceive [the dog s] scent (36). By establishing that the hare is a thinking being,
Cavendish elevates him to somewhere between man and the beast. In doing so, she allows her readers
to relate to him better, and it helps demonize the hunters who do not treat him as a thinking

Recent estimates show that almost 215 million individuals worldwide suffer from diabetes and 80
90% of them suffer from type 2 diabetes (Narender et al., 2006). The sedentary lifestyle of increased
intake of high calorie food along with decreased energy usage contributes to the present growing
prevalence of type 2 diabetes and obesity (Aude et al., 2004). According to recent epidemiological
studies, approximately 90% of all the people with type 2 diabetes are or have been overweight, and
signified that obesity is a major cause and risk factor of type 2 diabetes and related metabolic
disturbances (Bray and Bellanger, 2006; Kahn et al., 2006). To decrease complications and negative
consequence of metabolic syndrome, the control of blood glucose and lipids is necessary (Moller,
2001). The currently existing therapeutic choices such as dietary modification or a combination of
synthetic hypolipidaemic, antidiabetic drugs have their own limits and undesirable side effects
(Lender, D. and S.K. Sysko, 2006). Because of this, new medicinal agents with properties on
monitoring both lipids and blood glucose are in excessive demand (Nammi et al., 2009).
High fat diet (HFD) in combination with low dose Streptozotocin (STZ) model proves to be better
choice to induce type 2 diabetes (Zhang et al., 2008). The HFD fed rats show significant increase in

Architecture Of Glusterfs As A Scalable File System
GlusterFS is scalable file system which is implemented in C language. Since it is an open source its
features can be extended [8]. Architecture of GlusterFS is a powerful network written in user space
which uses FUSE to connect itself with virtual file system layer [9].
Features in GlusterFS can be easily added or removed [8]. GlusterFS has following components:
GlusterFs server storage pool it is created of storage nodes to make a single global namespace.
Members can be dynamically added and removed from the pool.

2.4. HDFS File System
Hadoop distributed file system is written in Java for Hadoop framework, it is scalable and portable FS.
HDFS provide shell commands and Java application programming interface (API). [12] Data in a
Hadoop cluster is broken down into smaller pieces (called blocks) and distributed throughout the
cluster. In this way, the map and reduce functions can be executed on smaller subsets of larger data
sets, and this provides the scalability that is needed for big data processing. [12] A Hadoop cluster has
nominally a single namenode plus a cluster of datanodes, although redundancy options are available
for the namenode due to its criticality. Each datanode serves up blocks of data over the network using
a block protocol specific to HDFS. The file system uses TCP/IP sockets for communication. Clients
use remote procedure calls (RPC) to communicate with each other.
Fig 5. HDFS Architecture [19]
HDFS stores large files across multiple machines. It achieves reliability by replicating the data across
multiple hosts, and hence theoretically does not require redundant array of independent disks (RAID)

Richard Wright s Short Stories Richard was born, raised, and grew up in a difficult period of life.
However, when Wright was sixteen, a short story of his was published in a Southern African American
newspaper. After leaving high school, Wright worded a few odd jobs, but still showed his true love for
writing. In 1927, Wright decided to pack up his belongings and head to Chicago. A short ten years
later, Richard moved to New York City, where he was told it would be easier getting published. One
year later, Wright s first book was published. Since then, Wright has wrote a number of books, series
and short stories until he died in 1960. With that being said, Richard Wright s short stories, The Man
Who Was Almost A Man and Big Boy Leaves Home were both written to show what coming with age
and responsibility truly mean.

Important Parts Of A Cell
Introduction
The body is made up of billions and billions of cells that make up tissues that make up organs, which
make up organ systems. Within those cells are organelles including but not limited to a nucleus,
organelles, and cytosol. Cells are one of the most basic units of our bodies. With that being said, it is
safe to say that cells are extremely important. There are many parts of a cell and many ways that a cell
works. One of the most important parts of a cell is the plasma membrane. The plasma membrane is the
outer surface of a cell, which is made up of things called phospholipids, which form a phospholipid
bilayer. This bilayer is made up of phospholipids (75%), cholesterol (20%), and glycoproteins (5%).
This bilayer is only possible due to the phospholipids being amphipathic (polar and non polar parts).
Phospholipids are composed of a hydrophilic (water loving) head and 2 hydrophobic (water fearing)
tails. The Plasma membrane separates the cell s internal environment from its external environment. It
also plays a key role in communication among cells and between cells and their external environment,
(Tortora 60).
Many different proteins are located all throughout the plasma membrane. Some float around freely
and others are stationary in specific locations. For example, integral proteins extend all the way
through the lipid bilayer and go further into the interior of the cell. This makes them transmembrane
proteins due to the fact that they go all the way

Analysis Of The Book The Great Gatsby By F. Scott...
Part two begins slowly and adds more confusion. The story is overly convoluted with new characters
and new events. Instead of Chris working on figuring out who s after him and finding the chip, the
story changes directions and it turns into stopping a major explosion and about a new world order.
Also, James dominates part two, not Chris. In fact, characters well established in part one, are not
active in part two, such as Kurt Slowensky.
Part two spends too much time on the hypnosis scene, the political unrest, Big Mike (Mike Berg),
dreams about James and Chris, and flashbacks about James time in Somalia, and other series of
events.
The concern is that the first parts of the story (part 1) setup a strong expectation that this story would
be about retrieving information from James memory regarding the location of the chip.
However, part two feels like an entirely different script. Thus, it would benefit the script to focus on
the main storyline set up in the first script.
However, part 2 offers more action, which is absent in part one. Both part 1 and part 2 need to be
combined, but it needs to focus on ONE main goal. Too many flashbacks confuse the audience. The
only flashbacks should be relevant to Chris finding the chip or putting pieces together about who
might be after him. Granted, he may stumble upon a bigger conspiracy, but it has to be fluidly
connected to part one.
The timeline in part two remains unclear. Also, at times, it s unclear if James is truly

Etruscan Influence Of Roman Architecture
With Etruscan influence, the Romans began building with enthusiasm, combining columns, arches and
various styles of vaults into their homes, temples and Colosseum. Although the Romans impact on
architecture spread throughout Europe and the United States, nothing is as magnificent as the Romans
development of concrete and its use for constructing walls, theaters and those beautifully graceful
bridges.
Poor and middle class society occupied 3 4 storey, rundown apartments called insulae, which had
extremely close living quarters and were unsafe due to their unsanitary conditions and haphazard
construction. Decimus Iunius Iuvenalis, known to us as Juvenal , was a satirical poet who eloquently
described the life in an insula as follows: We live in a city supported mostly by slender props, which is
how the bailiff patches cracks in old walls, telling the resident to sleep peacefully under roofs ready to
fall down around them . (Bird, 2016) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The African-American Odyssey Essay
The African American Odyssey
The Promise of Reconstruction, 1865 1868
The emancipation of the African slave who was now disconnected from their traditions and way of life
after nearly 300 years, is seemingly a great gush from the dam to the ebbs and flows of the struggle.
The end of slavery as we know it, presented a ball of mixed emotions among the nation; North and
SOUTH. Some slaves were grossly ecstatic to be free. For example, when a slave girl named Caddy,
from Goodman, Mississippi found she was free, went to her mistress, flipped up her dress and told her

Sharecropping became a sort of ebb in the river of the African American progression as far as freedom
was concerned. Presented as labor contracts by white land owners, the institution of slavery was
extended under a cloud of debt. In which, the black family, oft times became debtors due to the lack of
honesty on the account of their white lender. Aside from family, among African Americans, the black
church became the most important institution. Not only did it fill deep spiritual and inspirational
needs, it offered enriching music, provided charity and compassion to those in need, developed
community and political leaders, and was free of white supervision. With the end of slavery, blacks
who then had to attend services with white parishioners who treated them as second class Christians,
could now organize and attend their own churches. The advent of the black church definitely brought
about a flow in the river of struggle for African Americans. Education was another flow in the river of
struggle and a critical means of survival amongst people of color. It coincided alongside freedom. All
who were versed in education of all sorts were summoned to teach the freedmen and their children.
Teachers from all walks showed. Classes were held in churches, old slave markets, stables, taverns,
homes, and former slave cabins. Funding came from various religious and political organizations and

Disadvantages Of E-Commerce
As described by Reynolds, E commerce takes several forms, including business to business (B2B),
business to consumer (B2C), consumer to consumer (C2C), and e government (e gov). It s any type of
organization, or that includes the transfer of information across the Internet. It covers a range of
different types of businesses, from consumer based retail sites, through auction or music sites, to
business exchanges trading goods and services between corporations. It is currently one of the most
important aspects of the Internet to emerge (Reynolds, 2016). While there are multiple factors of e
commerce operation for retail interacting with its customers the three primary benefits are effective
customer service, convenience, easy and timely efficient orders.
As technology has evolved it has transformed society for many people around the world. Within the

What relevant historical evidence can you find in the chapter to support your position? The Columbian
exchange transferred slaves, animals, disease, and crops in the cycle of the New World, Old World,
and Africa. As the Old World received gold and silver from the New World, the Spanish increasingly
relied on silver and with the increased supply of it, created inflation throughout Europe. New foods
allowed for a population boom, especially the potato, which provided nutrients at a low cost. Disease
brought from the old world devastated the Indian populations, while horses allowed for more tribes to
have hunting lifestyles. Africa became more reliant on selling slaves for monetary gain.
Skill: Appropriate Use of Relevant Historical Evidence The authors contend that 1492 was a fateful
year in North American history when the land and the native peoples alike felt the full shock of the
European discovery. As you read this chapter, what relevant historical evidence can you find to
support, modify, or refute this assertion? 1492 was the year which set the seeds of change in North
America. Columbus discovery was what prompted nations, like Spain and Portugal, to begin sailing

which nation would receive certain parts of the New World with the Treaty of Tordesillas in 1494. The

To save money on dining out, purchase groceries to last you for the week. You can buy things to make
sandwiches so that you do not have to spend a lot of your vacation in the kitchen. Also, purchase
things for several home cooked meals so that you will not be tempted to eat out often.
The final step will be packing for your trip. Make a list of things that you will need while on vacation.
Be sure to pack all clothing and toiletries that you will need for a week. Also be sure to pack any
medications that you will need for the length of your stay. As you pack, take the time to mark things
off your list. Did you remember all of the kids swimsuits, floats, water toys and sunblock? Did you
pack snacks for the ride to your destination and games for the kids to play while riding to keep them
from getting bored?
Planning in advance and thoroughly for your vacation is the best way to enjoy your vacation when the

The Outcasts Of Poker Flat Analysis
In Bret Harte s The Outcasts of Poker Flat (1869), the mining camp of Poker Flat believes the only
way to become a town is to banish a group of people called the ¨outcasts¨. However, many of the steps
taken to get rid of this group are just as wicked as the crimes committed by the outcasts . Through
conflicts between different groups of people, the story conveys the theme that hypocrisy leads to the
realization of truth. Some of the main hypocritical events in The Outcasts of Poker Flat are when the
townsfolk want to rob Oakhurst, when Oakhurst helps Tom Simson, and when the Duchess and Piney
are thought of as equal when found dead. One of the main conflicts in the beginning of the story is
between the townsfolk and the outcasts. Before ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tim Simson, a man that Oakhurst took money from in gambling, showed up with his fiance Piney at
the outcasts camp. Oakhurst won the entire fortune . . . then handed [Tim] his money back (3). This
represents Oakhurst as a hypocrite himself because a gambler s purpose is typically to earn as much
money as possible, and instead he gives the money back. This transaction of money between a good
gambler and a careless gambler reveal John Oakhurst s true identity as a kind, caring man. The third
conflict in the story is between lustful women and innocent women. The Duchess, who represents the
lustful woman, and Piney, who represents the innocent woman, are found dead in each other s arms at
the end of the story. Harte writes, when pitying fingers brushed the snow from their wan faces, you
could scarcely have told them from the equal peace that dwelt upon them (8). This event is extremely
hypocritical in that a prostitute and a virginal woman, who would not typically be associated with each
other, cannot be told apart from one another. This exposes the truth about death; that all are equal. The
main hypocritical events in The Outcasts of Poker Flat reveal identities as well as ideas about death.
From this analysis, it is shown that not everything is at it appears. These actions reinforce the theme in
that hypocrisy leads to the realization of

This is because, having passed the age where children learn things in a simple way, Genie would not

their environment in a simple way like when they were in the childhood. Therefore it requires time
more time for them learn and effectively interact with the environment. I would handle Irene s with
more special care and at the same time being more observant to identify any possible development.
This is because, having experience untold harm, Genie s rehabilitation and care to a normal person
would require extra attention and a step by step evaluation.
Since Genie, demonstrated no sense of personality, leave alone that of sexuality, I would apply the
slow approach to get Genie learn the environment. This would enable her effectively discover things
by herself through experience. When Genie was eighteen years old, she still had a lot of difficulty in
learning basic aspects of life. As a researcher, I would have located her to an appropriate environment,
probably a rehabilitation center where she would start to learn by discovering things by her own. The
handling of the Genie s case was subjected into three big mistakes. Firstly, the psychologist who
developed as attention to study her case placed her in an appropriate position and condition. As she
was already a severe victim, Genie would have

Polarized Bamboo Sunglasses Research Paper
Polarized Bamboo Sunglasses
Sunglasses are usually worn as a protective eyewear. They protect your eyes from the strong
ultraviolet rays of the sun; any other bright and harsh lights which can be dangerous for your eyes
when exposed to for a long duration. Injuries can be caused to different parts of the eyes like the
retina, iris and the cornea and constant injuries can leave a long lasting and permanent damage. If you
thought sunglasses are only for the summer season, think again. Of course, to dodge the staunch
sunlight, you have to wear sunglasses but they are also worn during driving. People with contact lens
have to rely on sunglasses to protect them from debris and dust particles entering their eyes as it can
be painful and leads to scratching of the cornea.
Sunglasses are also worn by sportsman indulging in activities and sports like scuba diving, ice

Polarized lenses work well for joggers, bikers, golfers, skiers, fishermen and boaters. These sunglasses
when used for driving can reduce the glare that comes off the surface of the road or car. This can also
be used indoors by light sensitive people. While ordinary tinted lenses reduce brightness, only
polarized lenses eliminate glare. With the help of polarized bamboo sunglasses, you can add style and
at the same time eliminate glare.
When looking to buy new sunglasses, you want to make sure you are looking for the best glasses, not
only to protect your eyes from UV rays, but also that allow you to see things the best. Even though
they may cost a little more, polarized sunglasses are the way to go. You simply cannot beat polarized
sunglasses when it comes to combining protection and style. For more information about the stated

The One Who Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest Literary Analysis
Undeniably, Ken Kesey s intention throughout the novel of The One Who Flew Over The Cuckoo s
Nest was to enlighten us to a new world of understanding about the complexities of human nature.
From observations on the internal and external conflicts between a rebel and a follower within a
suppressive microcosm of society, we are elevated to the understanding of how through human nature,
both conflicting figures are inevitably destroyed and further reinforces the social order. Thus, Kesey
resolves this complication by inspiring us to be neither a rebel nor a follower, but convinces us
throughout the text to take a third option in being a spectator that learns from the mistakes made by
others in order to truly escape the repressing order of society. ... Show more content on

Because of this Kesey warns us about the consequences of rebellion through the emphasis on the
symbolic feature of the electroshock therapy table. This image of the table symbolises the
consequences as well as the Nurse s power which is used to plant fear within individuals preventing
them from stepping out of line and becoming disobedient to the system. As a consequence to
McMurphy s effort in teaching about the importance of individualism and the impudence of
conformity, he was given several ruthless electric shocks. The ruthless, abusive treatments that are
given to patients who opposes the system, portrays the tactics used by the authorities as a way of
maintaining this social order. Thus we are informed about the harsh consequences of disobedience.
Additionally, Kesey also takes advantage over the diction combine . Chief mentions how the Combine
which is a huge organisation that aims to adjust the Outside as well as she has the Inside , the diction
fully represents the idea of a mechanical force on society that represses individuals, manipulating and
controlling their movement. The significance of the combine which is a machine that harvests wheat,
symbolises the mechanical nature of the hospital and the way in which individuals are cut down and
controlled. McMurphy who embodies spontaneity, individuality and freedom opposed too big of a
threat to the system and thus through the authority of the combine was eventually lobotomised.
Concurrently this idea of rebels being stood down is once again proposed when the nurse states how
the patients are all under the jurisdiction and control of hers, this example shows the dominance and
control she has on the patients and the way she waits on the sidelines with a needle expresses the
violence and power used to suppress rebels from opposing the system that

Global Health Agendas And Domestic Government s Health...
This is where I examine the intersection of global health agendas and domestic government s health
policies. Recipient countries are encouraged to claim ownership for development strategies, and one
way is through Poverty Reduction Strategy Papers (PRSP). These papers would be published and
submitted to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) or World Bank every few years detailing where a
country has come from and its strategy in the short or medium term to reach poverty reduction goals.
The PRSP goals for both countries are aligned with the MDGs. However, although Liberia and Sierra
Leone had similar health objectives in their PRSPs, the outcomes for both countries are different.
Internationally, Liberia was heralded as making the greatest progress in its health status as it had the
highest increase of life expectancy in the world (19.7 years) from 1990 to 2012 (WHO 2013).
According to Nkwanga (2015), international donors used Liberia s achievement as proof of success of
the aid programs. Sierra Leone on the other hand did not garner the same achievements with these
performance based measures. According to Health Poverty Action s report (Sharples 2015), Sierra
Leone ranks very low on the Human Development Index at 183 out of 187 countries. It had a high
infant mortality rate of 107 deaths per 1,000 live births and 1165 maternal deaths for every 100,000
live births, one of the highest maternal mortality rates in the world (Sharples 2015 p. 4). However, the

Historical Fiction Book Report of The Hope by Herman Wouk
Historical Fiction Book Report:
The Hope by: Herman Wouk
The book The Hope is the story of Zev Barak, Benny Luria, Sam Pasternak, Kishote, four of Israel s
army officers during the major battles and struggles of Israel from 1948 until 1967. The War of
Independence, The Six Day War, and the 1956 Sinai Campaigns were all major events that had major
effects on Israel.
The book starts out with the war of independence in the town of Latrun with the Haganah 7th brigade.
The battle of Latrun was a battle that took place in beginning phases of the war. This battle was a
failure to the Haganah 7th brigade, which was newer formed unit. The main road between Tel Aviv
and Jerusalem which was commanded by the Latrun fortress. Arab forces were trying to take over the
fortress and deny jews from entering into Jerusalem. This particular battle and the events depicted
around and about the battle in the book are events and occurrences of actual history but it is a
simplified version of the events, of course. But the things that are not actual or real things in history
are the characters. Sam Pasternak is the fictional character used to illustrate the tasks of Colonel
Chaim Herzog which was a Israeli army officer who became an army general, later a popular historian
of the military, and then took on Israel s envoy to the UN, he even took on two terms as President of
Israel. The story of Burma Road in the book, like the battle of Latrun, is simplified. All though, in the

Christina Rossetti focuses on is feminism. The story starts off as introducing the two girls, Laura and

ugly. Also in the poem, the two girls appearance is never mentioned which can make the reader think

both have husbands, it never says anything else about the two husbands in the rest of the poem.

Scott Fitzgerald reveals in the short story An Alcoholic Case that some challenges are remarkably
difficult to overcome. For example, the nurse becomes fed up with the cartoonist because she feels it
is hopeless to help him if he does not want to help himself. It was so utterly senseless as she put a
bandage on her finger where she had cut it while picking up the glass she made up her mind she would
never take an alcoholic case again (Fitzgerald). When the cartoonist felt he would never get better, he
came to the decision that he wanted to die and there was nothing the nurse could have done to stop
him. She knew death she had heard it, smelt its unmistakable odour, but she had never seen it before it
entered into anyone, and she knew this man saw it in the corner of his bedroom; that it was standing
there looking at him while he spat from a feeble cough and rubbed the result into the braid of his
trousers. It shone there crackling for a moment as evidence of the last gesture he ever made
(Fitzgerald). These quotes show that the nurse had a hard time taking care of the cartoonist as he had

Located in the province of Alberta, the cities of Calgary and Edmonton have reached a high level of
urban development based on the extraction of natural materials. In fact, Burleton (2003) states that the
presence of a strong economy, highly educated workforce, and important reserves of natural gas and
oil have positioned the cities as desirable areas to live. Although Edmonton and Calgary share similar
characteristics such as a high level of total income, their differences may show how social factors such
as immigrant population, family characteristics, employed labour, marital status, and age can affect the
type of family that will reside in each of these cities. Through looking to their statistical data, both
Edmonton and Calgary present their median total income above the Canadian average. (Statistics

Female Infanticide and Foeticide Essay
Female Infanticide and Foeticide
It is regrettable that female infanticide and foeticide are rapidly decreasing the female population
throughout India. The main factors that is responsible for the increase in the incidence of female
infanticide and foeticide is the low status of women, son preference, and the practice of dowry across
all casts groups.
The low status of women and girls is due to cultural beliefs and the material cost they represent to
their families. Vanaja Dhruvarajan says that there is a belief regarding the nature of men and women:
Men are ritually pure, physically strong, and emotionally mature; women, on the other hand, are
ritually pollutable, physically weak, and lack strong willpower (30). Because of these ... Show more

Overall, girls get poorer education than boys, and become less aware of the world around them.
Therefore, they become dependent on men, whether it is the father, the husband or the son.
The preference for male children is due to three major reasons. One is the economic value of having
sons. Sons are more likely than daughters to provide family labour on the farm or in a family business,
earn wages, and support their parents during old age. Upon marriage, a son brings a daughter in law
into his family, and she provides additional help around the house as well as she brings riches in the
form of dowry payments. Another important advantage of having sons is their social cultural utility. In
India patriarchal family system, having one son is essential for the continuation of the family line, and
many sons provide high status to the family. Vanaja Dhruvarajan says, When a women becomes a
mother, especially the mother of a son, her status goes up in her new home for having helped
perpetuate the family (87) Finally, the utility of having sons comes from the important religious
functions that only sons can provide. In Hindu tradition, sons are needed to do the funeral of their
deceased parents and to help in the salvation of their souls.
Daughters are considered to be an economic problem to her parents mainly because of the heavy
dowry payment demanded by the groom s family, as well as the high cost of the wedding,

They also face competition at their hub airports in Atlanta, Cincinnati, Detroit, Memphis,
Minneapolis/St. Paul, New York JFK, Salt Lake City, Amsterdam and Tokyo Narita. The airline also
has competition in smaller to medium sized markets from regional jet operators. They faces problem
with foreign carriers, both on interior U.S. routes and international markets. The company fares and
rates vary by significant price competition. They set ticket prices in most domestic and international
city pairs without governmental regulation. Prices and rates are subject to the jurisdiction of the DOT
and the government of the foreign countries involved. Most of their tickets are sold by travel agents
therefore fares are subject to commissions, overrides and discounts paid to travel agents, brokers and
wholesalers. Delta is considered to be one of the largest airlines in the United States, capturing
approximately 17.5% of domestic commercial airline market. The market shared is measured in terms

White Shark Research Paper
Fishing I feel my heart thump as I stand on the shaky ladder. I look down at the sea and a dark figure
moves toward me. A great white shark jumps out of the water and lurches toward me. I swish to the
side as the shark s jaws barely miss me. The ladder sways and the shark dives back into the water. I
hear someone scream. The shark jumps out of the water again. The ladder is torn and I begin to slip.
The shark keeps coming back and I try to climb up the remaining bit of the ladder. I feel pain from my
foot. I look down and I see I no longer have a foot or even a leg. The shark s jaws swells with blood
and my leg hangs out of its jaws. The shark dives into the water and I don t see it resurface. I feel

The Arts and Crafts Movement Essay
The Arts and Craft movement was a social and artistic movement, which began in Britain in the
second half of the nineteenth century and continued into the twentieth spreading to continental Europe
and the USA. Its adherents artists, architects, designers and Craftsmen sought to reassert the
importance of and craftsmanship in all arts in the face of increasing industrialization, which they felt
was sacrificing quality in the pursuit of quantity. Its supporters and practioners were united not so
much by a style rather than the common goal a desire to break down the hierarchy of the arts and to
revive traditional handicrafts and make art that could be affordable to all.
The leading exponent and propagandist of the movement was the ... Show more content on

This satisfaction, the proponents of this movement felt, was totally denied in the industrialised
processes inherent in compartmentalised machine production.
In the United States, the Arts and Crafts Movement took on a distinctively more bourgeois flavor.
While the European movement tried to recreate the virtuous world of craft labor that was being
destroyed by industrialization, Americans tried to establish a new source of virtue to replace heroic
craft production: the tasteful middle class home. They thought that the simple but refined aesthetics of
Arts and Crafts decorative arts would ennoble the new experience of industrial consumerism, making
individuals more rational and society more harmonious. In short, the American Arts and Crafts
Movement was the aesthetic counterpart of its contemporary political movement: Progressivism.
Art Nouveau, 1890 1914, explores a new style in the visual arts and architecture that developed in
Europe and North America at the end of the nineteenth century. The exhibition is divided into three
sections: the first focuses on the 1900 World s Fair in Paris, where Art Nouveau was established as the
first new decorative style of the twentieth century; the second examines the sources that influenced the
style; and the third looks at its development and fruition in major cities in Europe and North

Pallas s Cats
The non fiction article Little Cats with Big Attitude was written by Fiona Sunquist. The main idea of
the article is how these tiny Pallas s cats are actually vicious wild animals. The Pallas s cats are named
after Peter Pallas, a German naturalist. They live in China and parts of Mongolia. These cats have a
bulky body and a thick layer of fur. The fur coat is especially heavy in the belly and tail area, this
helps the body to keep warm during cold seasons. Their appearance gives off a cute vibe, but they re
actually violent wild cats. Pallas s cats favorite foods are pikas and small rodents. Its round ears are
the same level as its head, making it unnoticeable when it peers over rocks. Plus, their pale fur makes
them blend in perfectly with rocks. Pallas s cats can be invincible to its prey with such hiding ability.
They are incredible hunters, too. They would creep up closely on its prey and bounce on ... Show

because the Pallas s cat photo is the main focus of the text, and parts of the photos have labels, that is
a very big feature of a Labeled Diagram. Furthermore, this is different from the rest of the text features
because it has a very different color scheme than the rest of the text features. Rather than a green
background, it has a light blue background accompanied with bright yellow labels. The Labeled

and the purpose of that body part. This is absolutely necessary for me to understand more about Pallas

The Downsides to Globalization
Does your friend that lives across the globe have the same branded shirt as you? Does she drink
Starbucks every morning like you? Does she watch the same videos on YouTube like you? How does
your friend have the same things as you but she is halfway across Earth? This is happening because
the world has aided in the homogenization of people and culture. Through internet and other
advancing technology and social media interaction among people has become easier. This process is
known as cultural globalization because the whole world is leading to a single culture. Globalization
should be stopped since it is making cultures lose their identity and significance in this world, and
allows technology todays manufacture and global media to gain control over small business and many
different aspects of people s life.
Cultural globalization has its own pros and cons. Cultures and societies can be brought together
through globalization. Because of the Revolution in Information Technology it has become easier to
communicate and connect with people of different cultures across the global. Through this cultural
diffusion societies are feeling similar and will become united. People from all of these different
nations will feel together rather than an outcast and eventually eradicate racism and discrimination
(Sofree). Globalization can lead to freedom from custom and have exposure to alternative ways of life
and thought will help increase global awareness and appreciate to humankind in

  • 2. What Are The Main Features Of The News System To design a system with good usability, it is necessary to analyse and grasp the users needs or requirements. Different users or audiences might have different needs for the news system so it is very difficult for a system to catch up all the needs. With the help of locating the target user group for the news system, the scope of audience could be decreased, which could allow designers to discover specific users needs easily. In addition, through finding the target user group, people could integrate the users need into the core values of the system better, which could help the whole system to enhance the usability and become more competitive than other news systems or applications in the market. Due to this, this section is going to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also, the fourth feature of the target user for this system is that the target users would want a constant stream of new information and they would want some short news or some highlighted interesting information as well in order to read through a large amount of news in a short time. Furthermore, the target user group of this news system would have different news related behaviours. To catch up the target users needs and enhance the usability of the whole system, the news system would support some specific new related behaviours. One of specific news related behaviours supported by the system is that the target users would look through some popular or hot news listed on the homepage of the system in order to spend less time on searching for the news or information which they want because many target users would want to catch up the trend and collect a large amount of information in a short time. As a result of this, many target users would through viewing the news listed on homepage to grasp some latest news or events happened in their countries or in the worldwide. Another news related behaviour is that while the target users use the news system to encounter different news or information, they would share the links of news or information to other people on different social media platforms. • 3. The Life Of Eleanor Roosevelt Essay The Life of Eleanor Roosevelt Compared to Jill Petrasek Eleanor Roosevelt was a remarkable woman who was incomparable because of how much she had wanted to change the world. She had helped society take action by fighting for equality between all women and men, blacks and white, and many more things that she had believed in. Eleanor Roosevelt had a hard life when growing up due to the fact that his mom had died when Eleanor was at young age (Ellwood 6). This had made her have to move in with her grandparents, which meant that it would be harder to keep in contact with her father because he was not with her (Ellwood 6). Eleanor and her father were still able to keep in contact due to the fact that they wrote letters to each other frequently (Ellwood 6). This in fact had helped Eleaner to grow due to the fact that her dad had told her to work hard, and be instructable to the outside world. The letters had halted at the age of ten because her father had passed away (Ellwood 6). The fact that her dad had passed away made her feel like she had no one to talk to which made her feel lonely (Ellwood 6). After Eleanor s father s passing she became sheepish and reserved to the outside world until she had meet a teacher by the name of Ms. Souvestre who showed her to be confident and how smart she really was (Ellwood 9). Souvestre had also advised Eleanor to always say what was on her mind and stand up for what was right and what she believed even if there were extreme ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is the largest European regional airline, which carried 7.7 million passengers to 65 airports in more than 200 routes in Europe in 2014.The Group operates 98 aircrafts, operating in 10 countries. Now the Group competes with European giants, such as British Airways, Air France, Lufthansa, KLM, to name but four. Jersey European Airways was founded on 1 November 1979 by John Habin, the major investor in Intra Airways, after the merger of Intra Airways with Bournemouth Express. By 1983 the new company operating between UK and Jersey appealed to Jack Walker from Walker s Steel Group, owner of a charter airline, who purchased the company and moved its headquarters to Exeter. • 5. Comparing The American Dream And Bennett s Poly Behind any reality lies a dream. The American Dream is an ever evolving concept, that every person has an equivalent chance at being successful and content. It has become a conflicting idea with people disagreeing over the possibility of actually attaining it. There are those who take a pessimistic outlook and refuse to believe that there s more to life than what they set out to accomplish. They live in a negative dream like state where there own cynicism prevents them from reaching and achieving their dream. Those who attain their dream are the go getters who wake up from this illusion and take an optimistic view towards seeking their dream. We as a people pursuing the dream, must change with it to achieve it. It still remains a reality today ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the poem America by Claude Mckay, the speaker s feelings towards America are discussed. This quote shows how with perseverance The American Dream is possible and how when it is finally reached its worth all the hardships that were faced. The speaker says, I love this cultured hell that tests my youth: her vigor flows like tides into my blood. Giving me strength erect against her hate. (14 ). The speaker in the poem focuses on the big picture. He knows that the struggles that are being thrust upon him will be worthwhile once his dream is accomplished. It will mean so much more since there was work that was put into achieving his dream. From the same poem, America , by Claude Mckay the preceding quote explains how with hard work, motivation and determination any of your most astounding dreams can become a reality. The quote says, Yet as a rebel fronts a king in state i stand within her walls with not a shred of fear, or malice, not a word of jeer. Darkly i gaze into the days ahead, and see her might and granite wonders there, Beneath the touch of Time s unerring hand, like priceless treasures sinking in the sand. (14). • 6. Friedrich Von Hayek Essay John Maynard Keynes first reached success during 1919 (Marron). His theory for economic success involved government use of fiscal policy. He believed that during times of downturn, the government should spend money into new projects, public spending, tax cuts, and transfer payment; which would lead to money once again circulating. But during times of success booms , the government should spend less and concentrate on saving for the next crash. He also argued that aggregate demand was the key to the business cycle. When aggregate demand was low the business cycle would crash, leading to high unemployment. Friedrich von Hayek ideas became popular starting around the 1970s (Marron). His argument for economic success contradicted those of Keynes. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If we don t try to steer them they won t go berserk. (Ransom) http://hayekcenter.org/?p=4804 This stanza explains Hayek s beliefs on less government involvement and more freedom to the people to make decisions. Government spending creates inflation troubles . He wants government to stop giving money to people that aren t employed because they should be independent. This approach is laissez faire because he wants people to do what they want by letting the market synchronize with the people s demands without government intervening let prices work . Prices wont go berserk if their is no Socialism. All socialism does is lead to sloppy performances if the government plans to steer the economy. The article explains that the economy might be headed towards a downturn because the economy growth rate has not increased. Corporations sales and profits are decreasing spending leading to a drop in aggregate demand. Although employment is high personal savings have gone up .2% which means consumers are spending less and more cautiously. Consumer spending has been negative or flat showing signs of a possible recession to come. This reflects Keynes idea that aggregate demand is correlated with the business ... Not only does contraception help prevent pregnancy but prevents people catching sexually transmitted diseases like HIV, Chlamydia and syphilis. M1: compare historical and current features of public health. Things that happened years ago have all changed to nowadays; either by a few changes but still very similar or dramatically changed in a positive way. Firstly, access to medical care. Years ago medical care in the 19th century was not very good. The hospitals were very basic, many beds in a large room (ward) there were very rarely curtains around the beds for privacy because in those days clothes were short and extra material would be made into clothing. Also, they may not have been very clean, they were hygienic to work in but for people that were very ill they may of made that person more poorly. Clinics were similar; they had the basic bed to check patients on and the small amount of medicines. Not all the time did they have the correct suitable medication for patients. • 8. Margaret Cavendish s Use Of Imagery To hunt or be hunted Imagery of the hunt traces back to Francesco Petrarch s sonnets, and perhaps further. This imagery has been predominantly used by male writers, and consequently the trope is framed through the male voice. It generally features a male lover in the position of the huntsman, and his female object of desire in the position of the hunted, often represented as a deer or a bird. As a result, the metaphor of the hunt is often romanticized and huntsmans are disarmed and portrayed as lovers. Margaret Cavendish responds to this trope with her poem The Hunting of the Hare, in which she provides a much different understanding of the interaction by writing from the point of view of the hunted. Cavendish flips the narrative to expose ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Beginning with sympathy: Cavendish sets up the hunted, rather than the huntsmen, as the object of sympathy. In order to do so, she first personifies the hare. She gives him a name: Wat, which already humanizes the creature and directs the reader s sympathy towards the hare rather than the huntsmen, who have yet to be introduced. The hare is also depicted using his forefeet [to rub] his face from dust, and sweat (40), an action similar to a person using their hands to wipe their face. Furthermore, Cavendish describes the hare s weeping eyes (81), and since most animals cannot weep it further personifies the hare by ascribing to him a human expression of deep emotion. In personifying the hare, Cavendish diminishes the distance between the creature and her readers, making it easier to relate to and sympathize with the hare. Secondly, Cavendish sets Wat up to be an intelligent and rational creature. She opens the poem by presenting him lying in a calculated and well thought out position to stay warm and fend off the wind. She further claims that he is wise (7), and references His thoughts (24). Lastly, Wat s intelligence is exemplified by his clever use of a strategy: he decides to try Winding about, for to deceive [the dog s] scent (36). By establishing that the hare is a thinking being, Cavendish elevates him to somewhere between man and the beast. In doing so, she allows her readers to relate to him better, and it helps demonize the hunters who do not treat him as a thinking ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The modern lifestyle of high intake of high calorie food associated with reduced energy expenditure plays an important role to the increasing prevalence of type 2 diabetes. Regardless of offering a multiplicity of effective treatment choices, synthetic drugs have a number of side effects. Vigna mungo has high fibre content and enhances the lipoprotein lipase activity. The present study evaluates the antihyperlipidemic and antihyperglycemic potential of Vigna Mungo in High Fat Diet (HFD) combined with low dose Streptozotocin (STZ) induced type 2 diabetes rat model. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Recent estimates show that almost 215 million individuals worldwide suffer from diabetes and 80 90% of them suffer from type 2 diabetes (Narender et al., 2006). The sedentary lifestyle of increased intake of high calorie food along with decreased energy usage contributes to the present growing prevalence of type 2 diabetes and obesity (Aude et al., 2004). According to recent epidemiological studies, approximately 90% of all the people with type 2 diabetes are or have been overweight, and signified that obesity is a major cause and risk factor of type 2 diabetes and related metabolic disturbances (Bray and Bellanger, 2006; Kahn et al., 2006). To decrease complications and negative consequence of metabolic syndrome, the control of blood glucose and lipids is necessary (Moller, 2001). The currently existing therapeutic choices such as dietary modification or a combination of synthetic hypolipidaemic, antidiabetic drugs have their own limits and undesirable side effects (Lender, D. and S.K. Sysko, 2006). Because of this, new medicinal agents with properties on monitoring both lipids and blood glucose are in excessive demand (Nammi et al., 2009). HDFS File System Hadoop distributed file system is written in Java for Hadoop framework, it is scalable and portable FS. HDFS provide shell commands and Java application programming interface (API). [12] Data in a Hadoop cluster is broken down into smaller pieces (called blocks) and distributed throughout the cluster. In this way, the map and reduce functions can be executed on smaller subsets of larger data sets, and this provides the scalability that is needed for big data processing. [12] A Hadoop cluster has nominally a single namenode plus a cluster of datanodes, although redundancy options are available for the namenode due to its criticality. Each datanode serves up blocks of data over the network using a block protocol specific to HDFS. The file system uses TCP/IP sockets for communication. Clients use remote procedure calls (RPC) to communicate with each other. Fig 5. HDFS Architecture [19] HDFS stores large files across multiple machines. It achieves reliability by replicating the data across multiple hosts, and hence theoretically does not require redundant array of independent disks (RAID) storage on ... • 11. Richard Wright s Short Stories Chase Dickens Professor Shelia Bonner English 11203 71 6 February 2016 Richard Wright s Short Stories Richard was born, raised, and grew up in a difficult period of life. However, when Wright was sixteen, a short story of his was published in a Southern African American newspaper. After leaving high school, Wright worded a few odd jobs, but still showed his true love for writing. In 1927, Wright decided to pack up his belongings and head to Chicago. A short ten years later, Richard moved to New York City, where he was told it would be easier getting published. One year later, Wright s first book was published. Since then, Wright has wrote a number of books, series and short stories until he died in 1960. With that being said, Richard Wright s short stories, The Man Who Was Almost A Man and Big Boy Leaves Home were both written to show what coming with age and responsibility truly mean. The Man Who Was Almost A Man After a hard day at work, seventeen year old Dave heads across the fields for home, still thinking about some of the problems he had been facing with some other field help that day. • 12. Important Parts Of A Cell Introduction The body is made up of billions and billions of cells that make up tissues that make up organs, which make up organ systems. Within those cells are organelles including but not limited to a nucleus, organelles, and cytosol. Cells are one of the most basic units of our bodies. With that being said, it is safe to say that cells are extremely important. There are many parts of a cell and many ways that a cell works. One of the most important parts of a cell is the plasma membrane. The plasma membrane is the outer surface of a cell, which is made up of things called phospholipids, which form a phospholipid bilayer. This bilayer is made up of phospholipids (75%), cholesterol (20%), and glycoproteins (5%). This bilayer is only possible due to the phospholipids being amphipathic (polar and non polar parts). Phospholipids are composed of a hydrophilic (water loving) head and 2 hydrophobic (water fearing) tails. The Plasma membrane separates the cell s internal environment from its external environment. It also plays a key role in communication among cells and between cells and their external environment, (Tortora 60). Many different proteins are located all throughout the plasma membrane. Some float around freely and others are stationary in specific locations. For example, integral proteins extend all the way through the lipid bilayer and go further into the interior of the cell. This makes them transmembrane proteins due to the fact that they go all the way ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Analysis Of The Book The Great Gatsby By F. Scott... Part two begins slowly and adds more confusion. The story is overly convoluted with new characters and new events. Instead of Chris working on figuring out who s after him and finding the chip, the story changes directions and it turns into stopping a major explosion and about a new world order. Also, James dominates part two, not Chris. In fact, characters well established in part one, are not active in part two, such as Kurt Slowensky. Part two spends too much time on the hypnosis scene, the political unrest, Big Mike (Mike Berg), dreams about James and Chris, and flashbacks about James time in Somalia, and other series of events. The concern is that the first parts of the story (part 1) setup a strong expectation that this story would be about retrieving information from James memory regarding the location of the chip. However, part two feels like an entirely different script. Thus, it would benefit the script to focus on the main storyline set up in the first script. However, part 2 offers more action, which is absent in part one. Both part 1 and part 2 need to be combined, but it needs to focus on ONE main goal. Too many flashbacks confuse the audience. The only flashbacks should be relevant to Chris finding the chip or putting pieces together about who might be after him. Granted, he may stumble upon a bigger conspiracy, but it has to be fluidly connected to part one. The timeline in part two remains unclear. Also, at times, it s unclear if James is truly ... Etruscan Influence Of Roman Architecture With Etruscan influence, the Romans began building with enthusiasm, combining columns, arches and various styles of vaults into their homes, temples and Colosseum. Although the Romans impact on architecture spread throughout Europe and the United States, nothing is as magnificent as the Romans development of concrete and its use for constructing walls, theaters and those beautifully graceful bridges. Poor and middle class society occupied 3 4 storey, rundown apartments called insulae, which had extremely close living quarters and were unsafe due to their unsanitary conditions and haphazard construction. Decimus Iunius Iuvenalis, known to us as Juvenal , was a satirical poet who eloquently described the life in an insula as follows: We live in a city supported mostly by slender props, which is how the bailiff patches cracks in old walls, telling the resident to sleep peacefully under roofs ready to fall down around them . Considering how active I am and how often I go to the gym, I did not consume enough calories or nutrients that could provide me with enough energy to exercise. The African-American Odyssey Essay The African American Odyssey The Promise of Reconstruction, 1865 1868 The emancipation of the African slave who was now disconnected from their traditions and way of life after nearly 300 years, is seemingly a great gush from the dam to the ebbs and flows of the struggle. The end of slavery as we know it, presented a ball of mixed emotions among the nation; North and SOUTH. Some slaves were grossly ecstatic to be free. For example, when a slave girl named Caddy, from Goodman, Mississippi found she was free, went to her mistress, flipped up her dress and told her Kiss my ass! Presented as labor contracts by white land owners, the institution of slavery was extended under a cloud of debt. In which, the black family, oft times became debtors due to the lack of honesty on the account of their white lender. Aside from family, among African Americans, the black church became the most important institution. Not only did it fill deep spiritual and inspirational needs, it offered enriching music, provided charity and compassion to those in need, developed community and political leaders, and was free of white supervision. With the end of slavery, blacks who then had to attend services with white parishioners who treated them as second class Christians, could now organize and attend their own churches. The advent of the black church definitely brought about a flow in the river of struggle for African Americans. Education was another flow in the river of struggle and a critical means of survival amongst people of color. It coincided alongside freedom. All who were versed in education of all sorts were summoned to teach the freedmen and their children. Teachers from all walks showed. • 23. The Outcasts Of Poker Flat Analysis In Bret Harte s The Outcasts of Poker Flat (1869), the mining camp of Poker Flat believes the only way to become a town is to banish a group of people called the ¨outcasts¨. However, many of the steps taken to get rid of this group are just as wicked as the crimes committed by the outcasts . Through conflicts between different groups of people, the story conveys the theme that hypocrisy leads to the realization of truth. Some of the main hypocritical events in The Outcasts of Poker Flat are when the townsfolk want to rob Oakhurst, when Oakhurst helps Tom Simson, and when the Duchess and Piney are thought of as equal when found dead. Tim Simson, a man that Oakhurst took money from in gambling, showed up with his fiance Piney at the outcasts camp. Oakhurst won the entire fortune . . . then handed [Tim] his money back (3). This represents Oakhurst as a hypocrite himself because a gambler s purpose is typically to earn as much money as possible, and instead he gives the money back. This transaction of money between a good gambler and a careless gambler reveal John Oakhurst s true identity as a kind, caring man. The third conflict in the story is between lustful women and innocent women. The Duchess, who represents the lustful woman, and Piney, who represents the innocent woman, are found dead in each other s arms at the end of the story. Harte writes, when pitying fingers brushed the snow from their wan faces, you could scarcely have told them from the equal peace that dwelt upon them (8). This event is extremely hypocritical in that a prostitute and a virginal woman, who would not typically be associated with each other, cannot be told apart from one another. This exposes the truth about death; that all are equal. The main hypocritical events in The Outcasts of Poker Flat reveal identities as well as ideas about death. From this analysis, it is shown that not everything is at it appears. These actions reinforce the theme in that hypocrisy leads to the realization of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The One Who Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest Literary Analysis Undeniably, Ken Kesey s intention throughout the novel of The One Who Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest was to enlighten us to a new world of understanding about the complexities of human nature. From observations on the internal and external conflicts between a rebel and a follower within a suppressive microcosm of society, we are elevated to the understanding of how through human nature, both conflicting figures are inevitably destroyed and further reinforces the social order. Thus, Kesey resolves this complication by inspiring us to be neither a rebel nor a follower, but convinces us throughout the text to take a third option in being a spectator that learns from the mistakes made by others in order to truly escape the repressing order of society. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because of this Kesey warns us about the consequences of rebellion through the emphasis on the symbolic feature of the electroshock therapy table. This image of the table symbolises the consequences as well as the Nurse s power which is used to plant fear within individuals preventing them from stepping out of line and becoming disobedient to the system. As a consequence to McMurphy s effort in teaching about the importance of individualism and the impudence of conformity, he was given several ruthless electric shocks. The ruthless, abusive treatments that are given to patients who opposes the system, portrays the tactics used by the authorities as a way of maintaining this social order. Thus we are informed about the harsh consequences of disobedience. Additionally, Kesey also takes advantage over the diction combine . Chief mentions how the Combine which is a huge organisation that aims to adjust the Outside as well as she has the Inside , the diction fully represents the idea of a mechanical force on society that represses individuals, manipulating and controlling their movement. The significance of the combine which is a machine that harvests wheat, symbolises the mechanical nature of the hospital and the way in which individuals are cut down and controlled. McMurphy who embodies spontaneity, individuality and freedom opposed too big of a threat to the system and thus through the authority of the combine was eventually lobotomised. Concurrently this idea of rebels being stood down is once again proposed when the nurse states how the patients are all under the jurisdiction and control of hers, this example shows the dominance and control she has on the patients and the way she waits on the sidelines with a needle expresses the violence and power used to suppress rebels from opposing the system that ... The PRSP goals for both countries are aligned with the MDGs. However, although Liberia and Sierra Leone had similar health objectives in their PRSPs, the outcomes for both countries are different. She knew death she had heard it, smelt its unmistakable odour, but she had never seen it before it entered into anyone, and she knew this man saw it in the corner of his bedroom; that it was standing there looking at him while he spat from a feeble cough and rubbed the result into the braid of his trousers. Therefore, they become dependent on men, whether it is the father, the husband or the son. The preference for male children is due to three major reasons. One is the economic value of having sons. Sons are more likely than daughters to provide family labour on the farm or in a family business, earn wages, and support their parents during old age. Upon marriage, a son brings a daughter in law into his family, and she provides additional help around the house as well as she brings riches in the form of dowry payments. Another important advantage of having sons is their social cultural utility. In India patriarchal family system, having one son is essential for the continuation of the family line, and many sons provide high status to the family. Vanaja Dhruvarajan says, When a women becomes a mother, especially the mother of a son, her status goes up in her new home for having helped perpetuate the family (87) Finally, the utility of having sons comes from the important religious functions that only sons can provide. In Hindu tradition, sons are needed to do the funeral of their deceased parents and to help in the salvation of their souls.
