 Narrative paradigm; a theory
    proposed by Walter Fisher;
 Fisher believe that all form of human
    communication are to be seen
    fundamentally as STORIES.
 That all meaningful communication
is a form of story telling or giving a
report of events and so human being
experience and comprehend life as a
    series of ongoing narratives each
    with their own
1. conflict
 2. characters
 3. beginning
 4. middle and
 5. end
The way people communicate their
deeds, behavior whether in past or
future has more to do with telling
 stories that produce evidence or
 construct a LOGICAL argument.
 Traditional paradigm of the rational
    world that seems scientific or
    philosophical approach to
    knowledge assumes that are Logical
and make decision on the basis of
    evidence and line of argument.
 Rationality is determined by how
much we know and how well we
argue in making decision and it
    depends on judgment about “GOOD
    REASON”
   Good reason include;
    history, culture, and perception
about the status and characters of
    the other people involved

THE PSYCHOLOGY OF FISHERS
Pillars of Walter Fishers
  . People are story tellers
. People interpret stories by using
  good reasons.
 According to Fishers theory good reasons are
events of histories or past events in one’s own
  life culture, and character involved.
                SITUATION MODE
When people experience a story what follows is
the mental representation of the text. This
mental representation is called a SITUATION
  MODE.
This support Fishes mode because people
describe the text by determining good reasons.
PROBABILITY AND FIDELITY
People have inherent skill in determining
  probability
Example, Tuntu is a very bright student majoring
English, he likes politics because of this he is a
  representative of his department.

. Which of the two statements is more probable:-
Statement 1. Tuntu is a farmer
Statement 2. Tuntu is a farmer engaging in issues
of developing his village he is also a chairman
   in his village
 Probably statement 2. will be more probable

Narrative fidelity is defined as whether or not the
story that people experience relate to what they
know to be true in their own life.

            NARRATIVE RATIONALITY
Shows the way we relate to the story
   . It contain two criteria
1. Narrative Coherence- story sticks together
parts make a whole, characters are consistent
that makes us trust the story
2. Narrative Fidelity;- the story match up with our
life and correlate with our ideas, values, and
   experiences
