An Analysis Of Auden s Ulysses By Alfred Lord Tennyson
For thousands of years humanity has grappled with understanding the mystery of our existence;
questions what our purpose in life is. Some become consumed with the idea of not wasting a
second of the time they ve been given, while others tend towards a more reserved, neutral lifestyle.
Alfred Lord Tennyson s poem, Ulysses, directly attacks the idleness of a mundane lifestyle while
promoting the idea of not letting life waste away through exploration of the life of Ulysses, the
mythical greek hero. Comparatively, W.H. Auden s, The Unknown Citizen, emphasizes the
pointlessness and monotony of day to day living through satirisation of the life of an archetypal,
modern individual. Upon analysis it becomes evident that Tennyson and Auden have... Show more

This was shown through analysis of the literary devices both poets appropriated for their pieces,
including their use of voice, language choice and poetic techniques. Ultimately, Auden s
monotonous voice and language choice, coupled with his deliberate avoidance of poetic techniques
complimented Tennyson s colourful language, agreeable voice and extravagant associations to
assert that it is better to not let life dwindle and fade, but to take it by the balls and never let

Ordo Virtutum By Hildegard Von Bingen
Hildegard von Bingen s Ordo Virtutum was one of the most profound liturgical dramas ahead of its
time. It is the only musical dramas to survive that include the texts and music. The play was written
in Latin text, for entertainment purposes of Hildegard s community of noblewomen. This musical
play is a morality play with allegorical characters, which includes prophets, virtues, and an innocent
soul. The play is a symbolic interpretation between good and evil, a battle between the deviland
virtues for the innocent soul. The play uses sixteen virtues in order to fight off satan and guide the
soul into a righteous path into heaven.
Hildegard uses various musical techniques to distinguish the virtues, patriarchs, and the devil. The

Persuasive Essay About Thanksgiving Food
nimals, I think it s kind of gross, but I don t have the commitment to say I m a vegetarian.
Anyway, I don t enjoy eating animals that much, it s just not for me but that s a personal
problem. But that s the main focus of Thanksgiving! People just call is Turkey Day, sometimes!
So, there s one holiday food, OUT! Next in line, we have stuffing. Mmm don t you just love good
old fashioned wet bread to fill your genetically modified turkey s carcass? Ew! What? Why is that
a thing? I don t need to argue this further, I think you get it. The only other key player in the
Thanksgivingmeal that comes to mind is pumpkinpie. Pumpkin spice is a fan favorite, starting
early September people go wild over everything flavored to taste like that festive squash. That s
another one of those foods that I just don t like, I m a picky eater, it s fine. So, I ll let everyone
have that, but that does not make Thanksgiving more enjoyable to me. The only Thanksgiving
food that I can thoroughly enjoy, are mashed potatoes. Those are glorious, I m not mad at them
but my family gets a little upset at me when that s all I eat for Thanksgiving dinner so it doesn t
even count. Major portion of Thanksgiving celebration is the food, and I m not into it. Boom!
Holiday ruined! I mean, if I m going to overeat, it might as well be foods I enjoy! But, it gets worse.
Starting in like Kindergarten, we re taught that the first Thanksgiving was celebrated by the
pilgrims and WampanoagIndians. That s cute and

Activity of Gastrointestinal Smooth Muscle Essay
INTRODUCTION
Give a brief description in your own words of the objectives and aims of this practical.
The aim of this practical is to investigate how the autonomic nervous system (ANS) affects the
motility in the gastrointestinal tract, by experimenting with the release of neurotransmitters.
A. RESPONSES TO NERVESTIMULATION
пЂґ Attach a copy of your experimental recordings showing a period of spontaneous contractions
and the response to stimulating the nerves at 20 Hz with both a voltage that produced only a
modest response and the voltage that produced the maximal response.

Effect of phentolamine on the responses to nerve stimulation and added transmitter substances
пЂґ Attach copies of your experimental recordings showing the response of the ileum to nerve
stimulation and to the direct addition of noradrenaline and acetylcholine, in the presence of
phentolamine.
1)What was phentolamine s main effect? How does it produce this effect?
2)What two explanations could account for the fact that the test concentration of phentolamine only
partly blocked the inhibitory responses to noradrenaline and nerve stimulation?
3)How would you design an experiment to distinguish between these two possibilities?
4)In some tissues there may be a reversal of the response to nerve stimulation in the presence of
phentolamine (i.e. excitation instead of inhibition). Explain how this could occur.
5)Sometimes phentolamine also reduces the effect of acetylcholine. What important drawback to
the use of drugs as tools for investigating physiological mechanisms does this illustrate?

Human Development Theories Paper
When it comes to the different development theories there is a significant amount that contribute to
the helping and aiding of the human development process. Chapter 1 gives readers a clear and
concise diagnostic of theories such as Behaviorism and Social Learning theory focusing on just the
behaviorism and the Ecological Systems of theory. These two theories have played a role in many
different instances throughout my friend Aliyah s life. Aliyah has continuously moved back from
Jamaica to the United States throughout her younger years. She participated in first, fourth, fifth,
sixth, seventh, and eighth grade in Jamaica with her grandmother and two aunts. Aliyah s second
grade year was spent in Orlando, but third grade happened in Georgia. She came back her ninth
grade year to Orlando and has been in Florida ever since, currently a sophomore at the University

but in the US it is free which made her want to be more grateful and not take for granted the free

a new mesosystem of immediate family and schooling she probably wouldn t care that education is
free here in the United States. Furthermore, her microsystem through family interaction and the
affect it had on her with her mother not being her in the US. Aliyah seems to rely on her family

Five Values Conceptual Framework Of Purchasin
3.CUSTOMER PERCEIVED VALUE OF PURCHASING PC
3.1.Model (Sheth et al, 1991): Five Values Conceptual Framework
According to Sheth et al (1991), the customer perceived value has five dimensions including
functional, conditional, social, emotional, and epistemic values. This value derived from the
behaviour of the customer and overall purchasing criteria. Furthermore, this dimension clearly
illustrates the ability of the customer to choose whether to continue buying the product or vice versa.
In the purchase of PCs and electronic equipment, the model Sheth et all (1991) is highly
compatible and this is supported by the dimensions as well description of the model. It is clearly

Target Market And Retail Policies Of Completely Different...
Before I start to talk about target market and retail policies of completely different fashion retailers,
I would like you to answer these following questions:
1. How old are you?
2. What part of the country are you from?
3. What is your monthly income, and your monthly outgoings?
4. What jobs do you parents hold?
5. What type of school did you go to?
6. How often do you buy a new outfit?
7. How much do you spend on new clothes?
8. Would you say ethical and environmental concerns are a priority to you?
These constitute only a very few of the questions that marketing executives are trying to discern
about you, in order to create the type of fashion retail brand that gets you hot under the collar and
itching to go shopping. Of course, you instinctively know that fashion retailers like Primark and
Gucci are a world apart (not counting the ironic title of Primani that has now been applied to our
most ubiquitous of high street retailers...). But do you know precisely who these companies are
targeting in an attempt to increase footfall through their doors? Are YOU a marketing goldmine for
fashion retailers?
Perhaps your answer to that last question is of course I am! More people means more money,
right? Not always. You might be surprised to find that many companies simply don t want you.
Take Gucci for example. Very early on in the game, Gucci decided that more people didn t mean
more money and engaged in a strong exercise in market segmentation. If all

The Case For Decentralized Generation Of Electricity
In the article The Case for Decentralized Generation of Electricity , energy policy analyst Thomas
R. Casten and project engineer Brennan Downes frame the consequences of meeting up with the
demands of power energy with central generation or letting go of decentralized generation that
recycles waste energy. They go on to summarize how a new power generation has been built
over the past 30 years under given circumstances of technology that was available at the time, the
cost of technology and fuel prices, and conclusion of their ideas. From 1910 to 1960, electricity
was originally produced by either using hydroelectric dams or burning fossil fuels in order to
deliver power to cities and buildings. But those methods proved to be... Show more content on

Having these turbines and machines located directly within large populations rather than many
miles away was an advantage. Although, they found that using multiple engines and turbines was
more cost effective and less harmful in transmission, electric industries weren t being fair because
they began to charge consumers at very high rates. To regulate the situation in 1978, Congress
stepped in and wanted to create competition within the industry in the year. Independent power
companies began to advance and develop on site generation in areas made able to regulate the
monopoly. Today, most power companies think that centralized electrical energy gives the most
favorable results for all. To support this belief, the International Energy Agency predicted a
significant increase in numbers for the next thirty years as our world s need for electrical power
continues to grow every second. According to Figure 1 in the article, the electricity generation
capacity for the world will increase by almost 4,500 GW to reach 8,000 GW total. With the
demand for burning fossil fuels to increase by 90% and great amount of carbon dioxide emission,
we will negatively affect our environments with this huge contribution to global warming. To meet
our increasing reliance and demand for this resource, central generation of electricity will also
critically affect the tax market, fossil fuel market, and our world s environment as a whole.

Essay on Racism and the Enslavement of African Americans
Racism and the Enslavement of African Americans
Did Racism cause enslavement of African Americans? To answer this question you have to
determine what a slave is? And what Racism is? By my views and believes, slavery is any type of
duty somebody does for you. You own them so they work for you otherwise they will get punished.
Now Racism is a negative attitude towards another race. After these to words are cleared up you
come to a conclusion that racism in the 17th century caused enslavement of African Americans. To
believe this you have to look at the history left for us to read. The court papers, and journals of
people back in the 17th century.

John Punch was one the three servants working for a farmer and ran away to Maryland. Two
were white; one was black. They were captured in Maryland and returned to Jamestown, where
the court sentenced all three to thirty lashes. This was considered a severe punishment even by
the standards of 17th century. The two white men were sentenced to an additional four years of
servitude. The strong punishment for whites, but in addition to the whipping, the black man
John Punch was ordered to serve his master or his assigns for the time of his natural Life here or
elsewhere. (C Degler pg 65) Because he was a different color John Punch no longer had hope for
freedom. Why, because he was African and was braking the law of the land at the time. The
grounds for this harsh sentence presumably lay in the fact that he was non Christian rather than in
the fact that he was physically dark. But religious beliefs could change, while skin color could not.
Within a generation race, religion was not being made the defining characteristic of enslaved
Africans. Because the defining characteristics of Africans it lead to the terrible transformation to
racial slavery.
What were needed in Jamestown were laborers. Or what we call slaves to clear fields, to plant
and harvest crops. During the 1620s and 1630s, when the price of tobacco was high and English
workers had too few jobs available at home, Jamestown offered jobs to the few English workers

The Detrimental Effects of Teenage Drug Abuse in the UK
The use of drugs by teenagers today has caused a concern in the UK. Teenagers are unknown to
the effects that drugs can cause physically and mentally. It is very important that there is
awareness on drug abuse among young people. Since the usage of drugs not only affects the body,
it also affects many aspects of a person s daily life. Firstly, it affects the social life, causing
isolation, which is one of the most common effects that happen due to drug usage. Secondly, it
affects family and relationships. Due to the addiction of drugs, sometimes families abandon their

When taking amphetamine, users start to get anxious, tense and if they take a heavy dose over a
long period of time, they get linked to the mental illness, psychosis. Some drugs, like cannabis,
cause the user to become paranoid. Cocaine can cause extreme alertness, impaired judgment,
impulsiveness, and compulsively repeated acts. Even though, cocaine is used to enhance the sex
drive, the effect that it has on the receptors in the brain reduces the ability to feel pleasure, which
eventually causes the dependency on the drug. Another drug that has a powerful effect on the
body is Ritalin. Ritalin causes severe headaches, anxiety, paranoia and delusions. These are some
of the psychological effects that drugs cause to the human body. Following the usage of drugs,
young people s social lives and relationships get affected harshly. Most teens find refuge from
current problems by taking drugs. Once a person starts using drugs, they gradually start drifting
apart from family and friends. For them, drugs are their only life lines, and the reason to live. The
most common effect that drugs have on social lives is isolation. This eventually starts effecting
family, as the family starts getting dysfunctional. The family bond starts dissolving, as the user
gives importance to the drugs only. This causes trust to be shattered, and soon families too. Another
factor that gets affected the most after the use of drugs is

The Pros And Cons Of Prison Incarceration
Regardless of what you might see on TV the verdict of not guilty by the reason of insanity is an
immensely rare plea for anyone. A majority of offenders with a mental illness still end up
incarcerated. Even though the United States only makes up 5% of the world s population we
account for 25% of the world s prisoners. Which converts to 2.2 million prisoners and about 1.2
million of those people have a mental illness (Fellner). Mental illness within our jails and prisons
has become very prevalent within our correctional systems over the last 10 years. The number of
men and women who have a mental illness that end up in jail or prisongrows day by day. For those
who do not go into the prison with a mental illness, will very likely develop some form of mental
illness after being released from incarceration. The mentally ill do not belong in prison, the purpose
for incarceration is retribution, incapacitation, deterrence and rehabilitation, and though it is
originally meant for all of these purposes, it has lost its meaning. Correctional facilities are not
built to provide treatment for the mentally ill, and the people who have been diagnosed with a
mental illness cannot get the long term treatment they need inside of a prison cell. A significant
number of people who come into prison have a variety of mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia,
major depression, and manic depression. Approximately 5 6% of prison inmates have been

The Reactions to the Death of Addie Bundren through William Faulkner s
As I Lay Dying. The author of As I Lay Dying, William Faulkner, really contributes to the aspects of
literature through his ability to tell a seemingly incredible story through only the stream of
consciousness technique. Faulkner takes his insight beyond the piece, through other s views and
thoughts. Although the characters might be acting differently upon each subject or handling each
action in opposite ways, the tone and theme that he uses really brings the whole piece to a perfect
balance. In As I Lay Dying, Faulkner displays contradicting elements through the reactions of the
family members towards the mother s death with the use of dialogue, tone, imagery, and internal
conflict. When speculating about the only female character, in regards to the mother, it is
evident that a predictable aspect will be found in Dewey Dell for she carries the female qualities
in the story. This statement in As I Lay Dying, Ma, Dewey Dell says; ma! (Faulkner 48) was the
first reaction made by any of the characters towards the death of the mother, and it came from
Dewey Dell. Reasons for this could be the sexist factor that she is a girl, so her reaction will be
more emotionally projected than that of the male characters. However, the aspect of Dewey Dell
not being able to let go of her mother can also play a role in her reaction. This idea is expressed

History overlooked and neglected the issue. Child labor was abusive and damaging but nothing
was done to help these children. They weren t able to stand up for themselves. The government
did not step in to help. The public did not recognize the inhuman nature of it. It is because of all of
this that child labor became such a big part of the United States that is, until he stepped in and fixed
what history had never stood up for.
What Lewis Hine did
In 1908 Hine took a bold risk, quitting his teaching job to pursue what he believe deserved much
more attention and recognition. He joined forces with the National Child Labor Committee in the
hopes of revealing the truth behind child labor. Hines showed his commitment as he traveled
across America for the next decade publishing photos of factories, mines, mills, etc. Hines made
sure he used a camera that made it impossible to edit the photos. He wanted to show the public
the life that these children has live through every day. He exposed the photos he took on
newspapers while he himself spoke to the public on the wide spread issue. In the end he led the
nation towards the better because he took a step for these children. He took a step for a brighter
future for them. If it wasn t for Lewis Hine s courage and dedication America might still have a

The Use of Biometrics
There have been use of Biometrics which can be traced as far back to 500 BC, but where does its
future lay in the 21st century and beyond? Exactly what is Biometrics and its proposed
applications; will it truly be as useful or will it be a hindrance? Currently, which nations along with
the international corporations are in the market for such a medium and who are the pioneers, trying
to advance Biometrics; into something more streamlined? Will Biometrics truly have as much of
an impact on the digital industry as predicted? Or is it all hype? Lastly, what are the advantages
and disadvantages when applying Biometrics in today s world?
What do we define as biometrics, is it something which can be emulated by another being or is it
absolutely unique to one s self that it can never be copied and disturbed for others to use? By
definition, Biometrics is derived from the Greek words bio meaning life and metrics meaning to
measure. By today s standards, Biometrics uses cutting edge technologies to identify terrorists and
criminals. (Nadeau) Many revolutionary ideas regarding Biometrics have been based on ideas
which were originally conceived hundreds, maybe even thousands of years ago. Since the early
days of man, we have been practicing to distinguish other humans based on intrinsic physical or
behavioral traits. Early Babylonian and Chinese merchants kept records of: fingerprints, palm

How One Stupid Tweet Blew Up Justine Sacco s Life
Public shaming is a form of bullying. It humiliates a person who makes a heinous comment or
actions towards a certain group of people. Citizens use public shaming to get revenge from the
people who offend them since the government/law enforces does not come into effect. Furthermore,
public shaming continues to spread around the world and does not end until the people who are
offended feel that they have justice. With the constant bullying, those who are bullied begin to

The Battle Of The Second Punic War
Carthage and the Roman Republic fought the second Punic War for control of the lands bordering
the Mediterranean Sea, considered the entire civilized world at the time. The battles of the second
Punic War show Hannibal Barca to be not only the greatest military leader of his age, but perhaps
one of the greatest generals of all time. By examining one of Hannibal s most spectacular victories,
the paradigm for a battle of annihilation, military professionals can learn how the Roman
commanders might have defeated Carthage s General. In conducting an analysis of the Battle of
Cannae, I will postulate an alternate outcome by introducing intelligence utilization that would have
turned this battle into a victory for Rome.
Battle Analysis
Definition of the Subject
From audacious gambits to canny tactics, leaders scrutinize Hannibal s legacy of strategy even
now, almost 2200 years after his death. Dwight D. Eisenhower wrote (1948) that, every ground
commander seeks the battle of annihilation; so far as conditions permit, he tries to duplicate in
modern war the classic example of Cannae. (p. 325) The Battle of Cannae is eponymous for the
village of the same name, part of Apulia in a region of southern Italy. The generals for the Roman
forces were the consuls Gaius Terentius Varro and Lucius Aemilius Paullus, while Hannibal and
his brother Mago Barcid led the armies of Carthage. On the morning of the August 2, 216 BC, the
armies of Rome took the field, in order to finally remove

Seventy one percent of our planet is covered by water, so it would seem that we could never run
out of drinking water. But of that seventy one percent, ninety seven percent is salt water extremely
expensive to convert into drinking water. The other three percent is fresh water, which is contained
in: glaciers, polar caps, lakes, rivers, and ground water. Out of this three percent, only one percent is

As population of this planet has grown, we have increasingly tapped deeper into our planets fresh
water resources and are now finding less available when and where it is needed. Our available
fresh water is static, there is essentially no more fresh water on the planet today than there was
2,000 years ago when the earth s human population was less than three percent its current size. The
trend of population growth is quite obvious.
According to the U.S. Bureau of the Census, the population of the world in 1955 was 2.8 billion;
in the year 2014, the world s population increased to 7.207 billion. According to World Watch, the
population is expected to reach 8.1 billion people by the year 2025. As population increases, so
does demand for pure drinking water, but changes in social attitudes and behaviors could redirect
our present course and possibly curb the global population growth.
Social and economic trends in population growth appear to be changing. Our past can provide
substantial insight into our future. Family planning services have had great success and produced
dramatic results in reducing global population, thus reducing fresh water consumption. According
the John Bongaarts, population has been reduced by an estimated 400 million people through the
use of family planning programs. In many parts of the world, water problems are today more

Compare And Contrast China And Japan
During the 19th century, after a long period of isolation, both China and Japan underwent social
and political changes to open up to foreign trade and interaction with European forces. Both
countries eventually signed treaties with Western provinces such as the United States and Great
Britain in order to establish a trade relationship to induce and increase commercial trade networks.
Even though culture and civilization in Chinaand Japan were fairly similar, both countries had
distinct reactions to Western influences in their societies which impacted the way that the two
empires developed socially, culturally, politically and intellectually over time.
Whereas Japan accepted Western ideals and even went so far as to emulate them by implementing
them into their society, China succumbed to European power because of its reluctance to follow
Western influences. Since Chinese officials and rulers in the empire... Show more content on

Since the West did not infiltrate Japan until the 1850s, around ten years after the first opium war, the
Europeans did not focus on westernizing Japan because of its lack of natural resources, small

focus on China because of their extensive amount of resources and their vast trading network
which made them a target for European colonization and imperial rule. During the opium war in
the mid 1800s, there were many Anglo Chinese disputes over British trade in China, the East India
Company, and China s sovereignty and judicial equality because it destabilized its Canton system
of trading and made a new way for a rise in free trade imperialism to ensue. These wars between
China and the European powers further weakened the Qing Dynasty and decreased China s

A pediatrician is a medical practitioner specializing in children and their diseases. Generally,
pediatricians focus on babies, children, adolescents, and young adults. Pediatricians don t just focus
on physical illness, they are also concerned about behavior difficulties, development disorders,
functional problems, and social stress, depression or anxiety disorders.
Pediatricians typically have a full schedule of patients throughout a day, seeing them back to back

medicine as needed between patients and will also perform some of this preparation before and
after their office hours. But it will all be worth it when you see a patient healthy.

The Service Sector Management Class
Interactive, collaborative conversations with customers are essential for gaining critical
information and insight about customers situations and enable salespeople to offer unique, added
value solutions for customers needs. (SELL4, Cengage Learning, 82) Communication skills, to me,
is the main topic within the Service Sector Management class. The reason I believe this is because
in order to build trust, sale, understand the buyer, etc. you must be able to talk to the customers.
Trust based salescommunicationis when you must talk with the customer rather than at them. It is a
collaborative and two way form of communication that allows buyers and sellers to better
understand the need of situations and working together to create the best responses for resolving
the customer s needs. Trust based communication is the sharing of importance between buying and
sellingindividuals that result from the interactive process of exchanging information and ideas.
With this emphasis on establishing understanding, communication is essential throughout each
stage of the selling process. Effective communication skills are needed to classify buying needs and
to demonstrate to buyers how a salesperson s planned solution can satisfy those needs better than
competitors. The critical capabilities for effective selling include questioning, listening, giving
information, nonverbal communication, and written communication skills. Although each of these
skills are needed in everyday life, they

Essay about The Digital Millennium Copyright Act
The Digital Millennium Copyright Act
Signed into law by President Clinton on October 28, 1998, the Digital Millennium Copyright Act
(DMCA) was the foundation of an effort by Congress to implement United States treaty obligations
and to move the nation s copyright law into the digital age. ( Executive Summary DMCA Report )
While this seems a valid description of the law, perhaps a more accurate interpretation lies in the
following statement: The DMCA is a piece of legislation rushed through Congress by the
entertainment industry lobbyists to protect its monopoly on commercially developed digital
content, cartels, price fixing, and to maintain its status quo as the single entity that can direct what
should be popular or used by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the DMCA is often used by copyright holders to successfully fight Napster like
services and protect their anticopying technology . (Thibodeau 41) While it may seem logical that
copyright holders want to protect their technology and interests, the truth is that the law impinges
on the right of consumers to copy content. (Thibodeau 41) Obviously there is a conflict of interests
at issue and a consensus is needed to protect both consumers as well as copyright holders.
However, violating the founding principles of the nation, and citizen s rights to freedom of speech
is not the answer.
Further, in court rulings related to the DMCA, the courts have imposed liability and enjoined
conduct for what in other contexts would be considered fair use or freedom of the press. In addition,
the DMCA has been used to stifle academic research, and to arrest and indict a Russian programmer
who had come to the United States to present a paper at a conference. These cases and actions raise
questions as to whether Congress has changed the established rules, rather than just modernizing
them, for the digital era. (Ottaviani C1) This conduct demonstrates the great abuse of the DMCA in
relation to the First Amendment; freedom of speech is the most important freedom granted to
United States citizens and it must be protected.
Before the DMCA was enacted, manufacturers of devices that permitted one to copy works
generally considered themselves protected by the fair use

The Impact Of Media On Body Dysmorphic Disorder Essay
Introduction In a generation filled with entertainment and technology, there are many
advertisements that exist. Advertisements, such as clothing advertisements, involve lots of touch
ups on the model, making what the world sees, a fake reality of what human body look like. For
some of the North American population, these advertisements do not affect them; they will look
at the body of the model and not think much of it. But for those who suffer from Body
Dysmorphic Disorder, this will affect them in a completely different way. Body Dysmorphic
Disorder is a body image disorder characterized by persistent and intrusive preoccupations with
an imagined or slight defect in one s appearance (ADAA, 2014). The impact that advertisements
can have on those suffering from Body Dysmorphic Disorder, can be crucial to their mental
health. These individuals will begin to obsess over changing something about themselves that
may not even be an imperfection about them. But since a model or someone else looks a certain
way and they do not, they will do anything they can to change it, which can be very unhealthy.
Those with Body Dysmorphic Disorder will perform different behaviours to attempt at hiding or
improving their flaws (ADAA, 2014). Some of those who are suffering may even develop an
eating disorder. Upon reflection, I have decided to go into more research on this topic through the
question of: What is Body Dysmorphic Disorder and how have print and television advertisements

My Position on Eternal Life, Rabbi Maimonides

understand that you did comprehensive examination of the cognitive in approval of the world s

with my own ideas and reasons to try to persuade that you could accept it. Even though it can t

that because he has no convincing or superseding reason to reject it. Maimonides you define
God as the mere eternal thing and beforehand conception, he had existed alone. Conception ex

nonpartisan, she gives the pursuer a decent opportunity to see where both sides are originating
from additionally giving many motivations to reject the other so that no inclination is affecting the
pursuer s sentiment. Implied for any one, mindful of this level headed discussion or not, she clears
the reality this issue has been overstated and is undoubtedly influencing our day by day lives
regular. This book has a fundamental motivation behind giving the pursuer some data about what is
going on with the goal that they can choose for themselves which side in this warmed debate to
take. This two sided pugnacious source gives an alternate bend and draws in the pursuer to an
unceasing fight while alternate sources are exceptionally uneven and straightforwardly tending to
the solid contradiction toward creature testing. Before perusing this book I would quickly blame
the creature experimenters for such superfluous savagery and abuse yet after some exhaustive

Luquattica And The Investor Of Luxottica
How I feel about Luxottica and the owner of Luxottica is that he very smart alecky and he doesn

Nikola Tesla Research Paper
Nikola Tesla was an inventor and engineer who made many things we us now. Tesla was born on
July 10, 1856 in Smiljan, Croatia. And died in New York at the age of 86 on January 7, 1943.
He was a tall man at the height of 6 feet and 2 inches. He contributed to the discovery of the AC
system and also made the Tesla Coil which are both still used today around the world. Some
would even call him a mad scientist . He was one of five children his siblings were Marica, Dane,
Milka, and Angelina Tesla. His his father was Milutin Tesla mother was Djuka Mandic. His father
was an orthodox priest and writer, he was pushing for Nikola to follow in his footsteps and go into
priesthood. But Nikola wanted to go a different route. His mother invented many... Show more

He studied at the Polytechnic Institute, the University of Prague, Austria, Karlstadt, and Realschule.
Then Nikola moved to Budapest, while he was there he worked at the Central Telephone Exchange.
Eventually he removed himself from polytechnic school and started working for the Continental
Edison Company. Hoping to meet Edison himself he came to America in 1884 and eventually did
work with Edison.
He then briefly worked with Thomas Edison, helping him with his DC based electrical works. The
only records they have for Tesla working for Edison is his employment list and his salary
documents as an Electrical Engineer. His salary was $100 while working for Edison. Months
later the two parted ways. Along his way to being a famed inventor he had many obstacles, for
example some of his projects and laboratories have been in devastating fires or blown out from
power outages.
He s said that he has photographic memory which helped him with memorizing his plans, diagrams,
inventions, etc. This also helped him memorize and be fluent in eight different languages. These

Scientific Method Lab Report
(INTRODUCTION) The scientific method is the procedure used to either ask or answer questions,
the components of the scientific method include: observation; which is watching something that
peaks your interest, then you must develop a hypothesis; this means that an individual has to make
an educated guess for the observation, afterwards an individual must define a question; meaning
answering the who, what, when, where and how, ( Simms). The reason for doing the experiment
was to figure out through deviation and the class average from the data gathered if the pipette or
the graduated cylinder would be able more accurate in measuring the volume of water. Before
beginning the experiment my hypotheses was that if I weigh the water in the two different... Show

The controlled variables in this particular case were the boats, the amount of water needed, and the
way we weighed the water by starting from zero to not include the boat weight. Another variable
that was considered was the independent variable, this is the one factor that was manipulated
during the experiment, this time it was the instrument that we used to measure the water, the
graduated cylinder and the pipette. The last variable was the dependent variable, or the variable
that was changed based on the changes made in the independent variable, the weight of the water
was what changed in this case because the water levels looked different based on the The meniscus
curve seen at the top of a liquid in response to its container. The meniscus can be either concave or
convex, depending on the surface tension of the liquid and adhesion to the wall of the container, (
Helmenstine). Each instrument displayed this differently because of the size of the measuring
instrument and so the 10 mL mark was seen differently based on the container housing the

The Odyssey and Its Themes
The Odyssey and Its Themes
Homer #8217;s great literary classic, The Odyssey, represents and illustrates many emotional and
mental values. All of these values can be classified under three different main themes that are
constant throughout the epic tale. These themes are: A boy #8217;s struggle to be a man, a king
#8217;s struggle to reclaim his kingdom, and a man #8217;s struggle to return home. As one reads
this book it will become more and more evident to them that a man #8217;s struggle to get home is
the most important theme throughout Homer #8217;s adventure. In The Odyssey, Odysseus
#8217;s longing for his home and family is what drives the story. That is his one goal in the entire
book, and that really states something ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
#8220;Neither reply nor pity came from him, but in one stride he clutched at my companions
and caught two in his hands like squirming puppies to beat their brains out, spattering the floor.
Then he dismembered them and made his meal #8230; #8221; This descriptive brutality shows
you just how much a gigantic, intimidating obstacle Polyphemus was. Another one of these
obstacles was Scylla. Scylla #8217;s attack was described in lines 1338 1343. #8220; Then
Scylla made her strike, whisking six of my best men from the ship. I happened to glance aft at
ship and oarsmen and caught sight of their arms and legs dangling high overhead. #8221; This is
yet another grim reminder of just how determined Odysseus is to get to his home and family.
Throughout The Odyssey, Odysseus is warned many times of the perils and difficulty of his
journey. All through these times it seems that Odysseus will never get home, but he never loses
hope. In Book 11, Odysseus ventures into hell to meet with the great prophet, Teiresias. Teiresias
prophesizes, #8220;But anguish lies ahead: the god who thunders on the land prepares it #8230;
#8221; As terrible as this sounds, Odysseus just accepts his fate and continues on with his journey.
Just as he did earlier in the story, after his encounter with Polyphemus, the Cyclops puts a curse on
his head. #8220; #8230;and thou art father: grant that Odysseus, raider of cities, never see his

The Reality of Freedom During World War I
World War I a conflict within Europe impacted American society unimaginably. The changes that
occur have an impact on the individual and their freedom. During the war, freedom became
restricted; the effects remained reminiscent and lingered soon after. WWI restricted freedoms that
are the foundation of the United States. The United States showed contradictory actions; in which,
the freedom of speech is strictly limited. Even groups of individuals like German Americans were ...

In Foner 592). Words like Hamburger were changed to liberty sandwich and even classical music
from German origin became obsolete in American society (qtd. In Foner 592). German Americans
faced attacks on their culture from the United States and abroad in their homeland. Even with the
war over German Americans expected many things to back to normal. They expected the attack on
their culture to come to an end. However, that was not the case, in states like Nebraska it was
prohibited to teach the German language. This Nebraska state law impeached Americans from the
acquisition of knowledge just because they thought that learning German is regarded as harmful
(Meyer v. Nebraska 629). The fact that it was prohibited teaching in a language other than English
even after the war, showed how German Americans still experienced repression of freedom and their

The School Age Child Is Kept On The Heart Of A Child
The Young Child is constantly withheld from many of his desires by physical restrictions. We
use baby gates, fences, locks on doors and cabinets (restricted areas), cribs, playpens, leashes,
and brief commands ( NO! YES! ). We carefully watch the young child; monitoring what he sees,
where he goes, and with whom he associates. These barriers are primarily for the purpose of
protecting the child from himself from his own desire to seek his own will prior to an age when
he has knowledge, self discipline, a fear of the Lord, or help from the Holy Spirit to resist that
which is harmful to him. The School Age Child is still in bondage under the elements of the
world. Gal. 4:3 Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child. Prov. 22:15a Having foolishness in
his heart, he is likely to act the part of a fool a fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his
heart may discover itself. Prov. 18:2 He constantly desires to venture into the department store of
the flesh. Nothing is more dangerous than allowing a child to discover himself at this age. The
heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? Jer. 17:9 Being at the
beginning of his formal training in self discipline, he is relatively helpless at controlling his own
desires; and the fleshly nature is thought to be a fascinating friend rather than seen to contain no
good thing. Rom. 7:18 As a parent, you must protect him from his own worst enemy his flesh, and

  • 2. An Analysis Of Auden s Ulysses By Alfred Lord Tennyson For thousands of years humanity has grappled with understanding the mystery of our existence; questions what our purpose in life is. Some become consumed with the idea of not wasting a second of the time they ve been given, while others tend towards a more reserved, neutral lifestyle. Alfred Lord Tennyson s poem, Ulysses, directly attacks the idleness of a mundane lifestyle while promoting the idea of not letting life waste away through exploration of the life of Ulysses, the mythical greek hero. Comparatively, W.H. Auden s, The Unknown Citizen, emphasizes the pointlessness and monotony of day to day living through satirisation of the life of an archetypal, modern individual. Upon analysis it becomes evident that Tennyson and Auden have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Anyway, I don t enjoy eating animals that much, it s just not for me but that s a personal problem. But that s the main focus of Thanksgiving! People just call is Turkey Day, sometimes! So, there s one holiday food, OUT! Next in line, we have stuffing. Mmm don t you just love good old fashioned wet bread to fill your genetically modified turkey s carcass? Ew! What? Why is that a thing? I don t need to argue this further, I think you get it. The only other key player in the Thanksgivingmeal that comes to mind is pumpkinpie. Pumpkin spice is a fan favorite, starting early September people go wild over everything flavored to taste like that festive squash. That s another one of those foods that I just don t like, I m a picky eater, it s fine. So, I ll let everyone have that, but that does not make Thanksgiving more enjoyable to me. The only Thanksgiving food that I can thoroughly enjoy, are mashed potatoes. Those are glorious, I m not mad at them but my family gets a little upset at me when that s all I eat for Thanksgiving dinner so it doesn t even count. Major portion of Thanksgiving celebration is the food, and I m not into it. Boom! Holiday ruined! I mean, if I m going to overeat, it might as well be foods I enjoy! But, it gets worse. Starting in like Kindergarten, we re taught that the first Thanksgiving was celebrated by the pilgrims and WampanoagIndians. That s cute and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Chapter 1 gives readers a clear and concise diagnostic of theories such as Behaviorism and Social Learning theory focusing on just the behaviorism and the Ecological Systems of theory. These two theories have played a role in many different instances throughout my friend Aliyah s life. Before I start to talk about target market and retail policies of completely different fashion retailers, I would like you to answer these following questions: 1. These constitute only a very few of the questions that marketing executives are trying to discern about you, in order to create the type of fashion retail brand that gets you hot under the collar and itching to go shopping. Of course, you instinctively know that fashion retailers like Primark and Gucci are a world apart (not counting the ironic title of Primani that has now been applied to our most ubiquitous of high street retailers...). But do you know precisely who these companies are targeting in an attempt to increase footfall through their doors? Are YOU a marketing goldmine for fashion retailers? Perhaps your answer to that last question is of course I am! More people means more money, right? Not always. You might be surprised to find that many companies simply don t want you. When speculating about the only female character, in regards to the mother, it is evident that a predictable aspect will be found in Dewey Dell for she carries the female qualities in the story. This statement in As I Lay Dying, Ma, Dewey Dell says; ma! (Faulkner 48) was the first reaction made by any of the characters towards the death of the mother, and it came from Dewey Dell. During the opium war in the mid 1800s, there were many Anglo Chinese disputes over British trade in China, the East India Company, and China s sovereignty and judicial equality because it destabilized its Canton system of trading and made a new way for a rise in free trade imperialism to ensue. (SELL4, Cengage Learning, 82) Communication skills, to me, is the main topic within the Service Sector Management class. The reason I believe this is because in order to build trust, sale, understand the buyer, etc. you must be able to talk to the customers. Trust based salescommunicationis when you must talk with the customer rather than at them. It is a collaborative and two way form of communication that allows buyers and sellers to better understand the need of situations and working together to create the best responses for resolving the customer s needs. Trust based communication is the sharing of importance between buying and sellingindividuals that result from the interactive process of exchanging information and ideas. Essay about The Digital Millennium Copyright Act The Digital Millennium Copyright Act Signed into law by President Clinton on October 28, 1998, the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) was the foundation of an effort by Congress to implement United States treaty obligations and to move the nation s copyright law into the digital age. ( Executive Summary DMCA Report ) While this seems a valid description of the law, perhaps a more accurate interpretation lies in the following statement: The DMCA is a piece of legislation rushed through Congress by the entertainment industry lobbyists to protect its monopoly on commercially developed digital content, cartels, price fixing, and to maintain its status quo as the single entity that can direct what should be popular or used by ... (Thibodeau 41) While it may seem logical that copyright holders want to protect their technology and interests, the truth is that the law impinges on the right of consumers to copy content. (Thibodeau 41) Obviously there is a conflict of interests at issue and a consensus is needed to protect both consumers as well as copyright holders. However, violating the founding principles of the nation, and citizen s rights to freedom of speech is not the answer. Further, in court rulings related to the DMCA, the courts have imposed liability and enjoined conduct for what in other contexts would be considered fair use or freedom of the press. In addition, the DMCA has been used to stifle academic research, and to arrest and indict a Russian programmer who had come to the United States to present a paper at a conference. These cases and actions raise questions as to whether Congress has changed the established rules, rather than just modernizing them, for the digital era. (Ottaviani C1) This conduct demonstrates the great abuse of the DMCA in relation to the First Amendment; freedom of speech is the most important freedom granted to United States citizens and it must be protected. For some of the North American population, these advertisements do not affect them; they will look at the body of the model and not think much of it. But for those who suffer from Body Dysmorphic Disorder, this will affect them in a completely different way. Body Dysmorphic Disorder is a body image disorder characterized by persistent and intrusive preoccupations with an imagined or slight defect in one s appearance (ADAA, 2014). The impact that advertisements can have on those suffering from Body Dysmorphic Disorder, can be crucial to their mental health.
