Chronic Bronchitis Research Papers
Cause of Bronchitis Bronchitis is the inflammation of the lining of your bronchial tubes. The
bronchial tubes tubes are responsible for carrying air to the lungs. Acute bronchitis last from one to
three weeks. Chronic bronchitis goes at least three months. According to healthline, Both the common
cold and influenza can lead to acute bronchitis. In rare cases, Bordetella Pertussis, which causes
whooping cough can also cause acute bronchitis. (Healthline). The inflammation occurs as a result of
of an airway infection or environmental trigger such as dust, pollution, fumes. Smoking irritates the
bronchial tubes and causes them to produce excess mucus. According to webmd, every cigarette
damage the cilia which are responsible for brushing out debris, irritants, and excess mucus. The more
you smoke, the more you re increasing your chances of developing chronic bronchitis. ... Show more

Dr. Rene Laennec discovered the relationship between emphysema and chronic bronchitis and first to
connect it to the shortness of breath(1821). In 1846, John Hutchinson invented the spirometer which is

rare and described as a disease among the elderly. By 1870, emphysema and chronic bronchitis were
related diseases that result in the inflammation of the lungs.(lungs

The Importance Of Antisocial Behavior
The prefrontal cortex is responsible for higher mental functions such as personality, attention, arousal,
behaviour control etc., as well as being closely linked with structures involved in emotion and
memory development (e.g. the amygdala). Damage to the PFC may disrupt normal behaviour
functioning and cause some individuals to engage in negative, antisocial behaviours, or even have an
extremely negative personality change. However, arguments suggest the behaviour may be a result of
poor childhood upbringing with negative social surroundings.
S.2.1a of the Anti Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 defines antisocial behaviour as
conduct that has caused, or is likely to cause, harassment, alarm or distress to any person . Individuals
who are antisocial tend to be very impulsive, inconsiderate of others, lack motivation in personal
progression and disregard social norms.
It is argued that the trait is caused by social influences, such as strict disciplinary enforcements by
parents, bullying behaviours within families and ignorance of prosocial acts, causing an operant
conditioning of negative and abusive behaviour to be forced upon the child (Patterson Debaryshe,
Ramsey, 1990).
Further arguments suggest antisocial behaviour is a result of poor welfare, by the mother, during
prenatal stages such as smoking. (Liu Wuerker, 2005). Exposure to nicotine in the womb has been
associated with altering the brain s chemical levels, such as reducing levels of dopamine and

Improper Reinforcement Research Paper
Improper Reinforcement What is improper reinforcement? Improper reinforcement is simply defined,
as reinforcing behaviors under certain circumstances and not reinforcing them under other
circumstances. When teaching a child to follow certain behaviors you have to have a method of
reinforcement whether it be positive or negative. It is always good to have a discipline method. The
proper thing to do is the proper thing to do, so to speak. Just because a child can talk doesn t mean she
s able to problem solve or attach the right words to what she s feeling, so she may try to get what she
wants by other means. Like hitting, kicking another child or pushing.
You have to properly reinforce this behavior. Detour the child from the situation

Professional Sports And The Civil Era
Professional sports were segregated in the United States, just like the rest of the country was during
the 1940s, but between the cooperation of two men the color barrier was broken in professional sports.
The unwritten rule of not allowing blacks to play professional baseball had been standing since the
1880s. No professional sport in America at the time had any participating African Americans, yet
many African Americans were participating in the Olympics. Famous African American olympians,
such as Jesse Owens and John Taylor, were highly celebrated for their accomplishments, yet no
change was made within the professional sports world. Robinson was not the first attempt at breaking
the color barrier in professional sports but Branch Rickey, the President and GM of the Dodgers, felt
he was the one to complete the transformation. The African Americans in the United States were still
playing baseball beyond college at this time, but in their own collection of leagues called the Negro
Major Leagues. African Americans were able to play in some of the integrated colleges around the
country but the integration ended there. They were allowed to play in Major League Baseball but it
just did not happen, the MLB commissioner of the time Judge Landis said, there was no rule on the
books prohibiting a black man from joining a major league team. It was up to the owners to hire
whom they pleased (Golenbock). Judge Landis had no problem stating the fact that they were allowed

Mercedes Benz is a German automobile manufacturer that is known for luxury automobiles, buses,
and trucks. The German luxury car manufacturer has been around for more than a century and has
outlasted the rough bumps in automobile history. The brand, represented by the three pointed star,
stands for the aspiration to deliver the best in terms of products, technology and services. Mercedes
Benz cars are seen as some of the best cars in the world, standing as symbols of beautiful quality and
innovative engineering.
Analysis of Mercedes Benz Written Communication
On the Mercedes Benz homepage, if you scroll through it you will see the word innovation being
tossed about constantly. This is because, I believe, Mercedes Benz wants the consumer to know that
they are always innovating their products and they are the leaders of the automobile industry today,
tomorrow and in the future. On their homepage, the company points to their many achievements over
the century since their conception. More specifically the many firsts they have been pioneers in. For
example, the first motor car was made by Carl Benz, the founder, which forever changed the way
people moved and how that car sparked the legacy of innovation. By utilizing their history, Mercedes
set themselves apart from other automobile makers as always remaining the first. Continuing forward
with their first theme, on their website they also mention how Bertha Benz, Carl s wife, was the first
female driver in history as

There Is An Ancient Chinese Proverb, That Goes By “Give
There is an ancient Chinese proverb, that goes by Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach
a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime . Today, I would like to discuss my cousin, Stephanie
Lam, who went to Taiwan one summer to teach English in a two week enrichment program. Her
students, ranging from 12 to 17 year olds, came from low income families around Taiwan, seeking
help in learning English, as they do not normally have the proper resources to do so. Though the
language barrier was a formidable obstacle, Stephanie bonded with her students and other teachers,
and greatly improved their English proficiency. Now, thanks to her, they understand a new language
even better than they did before, and therefore have access to ... Show more content on

There was a time she didn t know how to describe a white board marker in Chinese, so she asked her
class how to say it. One girl, who went by the name of Tracy, eagerly told [Stephanie the word], and
had a huge smile on her face (Lam). Even though the language barrier was difficult, she and her
students overcame it together with pointing and various other universal gestures and facial
expressions. This way, the students were encouraged to understand English better to communicate
with their teacher, and my cousin refined her own oral Chinese skills. The students were kind and
willing to help despite [her] poor Chinese, and didn t judge [her] either (Lam). The students were
happy enough that she came all the way to Taiwan to teach them English. They respected this, and
were eager to help her discover a new culture and improve on her Chinese abilities. The barrier was
still tough for Stephanie, but thanks to the kindness of her students, it was much easier to bear through
and succeed. It was a new and unknown world for my cousin, but she still made the most of her
experience and discovered so much more about East Asian culture. The program itself was quite
informal, and its students were there on a voluntary basis. However, they still showed a great amount
of respect towards [the teachers] (Lam). The students still followed rules and appropriate classroom

String Quartet No. 4
The setting of this performance was just in the classroom. It was very informal, which was nice. The
audience was mostly students from our class as well as being students from a theory class. The first
piece String Quartet No. 5, Op. 18, by Beethoven, was very upbeat. It felt like I was in at formal dance
or almost like a ballroom at a fancy party. It was very interesting to listen to as it had a very brisk
pace, but then went to a tone that was a little darker and then followed with some happy again. The
second song was String Quartet No. 4 by Leon Kirchner was quite interesting. The song had many
notes that contrasted with one another. It was out of harmony at first, but then as the song progressed,
it slowly became more cohesive. This song made me ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The third song String Quartet No. 4 by Henry Cowell was very interesting as well. This song gave a
presence of a song that was influenced by Asian music. This song, unlike the last one, was more
upbeat and lively. When I heard this song, at first I thought of someone a shot of Chinese people
working in a rice patty from a movie. This song gave a very strong Asian influence and I quite
enjoyed this song as well. The fourth song Rondo in F major by Anton Webern gave the appearance of
a waltz. One can hear the smoothness in the transitions between each notes, unless the prior song. One
can tell that this song is of an older production. The song itself, gave a very somber mood behind it as
the song sounded as if it was played in a minor key. It was quite harsh and gave me the impression
that something bad was happening. The final song was Four, tango by Astor Piazolla gave a sense of a
very fast pace, mixed with dramatic pauses. This song was based off a tango and originated in Buenas
Aries. It is quite deep in tone, but at the same time very lively. There were sharp accents at the end of
some measures. It kind of gives the impression of another dramatic

Persuasive Essay On Underage Drinking
The law does not stop underage drinking. In the United States, the minimum drinking age is 21, while
in many other countries it ranges from 16 18. In Germany, minors who are as young as fourteen can
drink alcoholic beverages including wine and beer within the supervison of a parent or legal guardian.
There has been much controversy over alcohol for numerous years, the most recent argument is
whether the legal drinking age should be twenty one or lowered to eighteen. Minimizing the legal
drinking age from twenty one to eighteen would be a successful step in reshaping the binge drinking
culture in this country, encouraging young adults to safely participate in the activity of drinking
alcohol, and permitting those of legal age the chance to entirely and responsibly make adult decisions.
College students across the nation are engaging in the illegal activity of drinking alcohol every
weekend. M. B. Esser M. Siegel, who are both medical doctors, say A systematic literature review
found that as youth are exposed to a greater volume of alcohol marketing, they are more likely to
drink or for those who already drink, to drink more. (Esser, and Siegel 426) This concept makes me
think of how much alcohol is consumed on college campuses making others feel forced or cool if they
do so. The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism determined that there are presently
10.8 million American underage drinkers. Many argue that 18 year olds are too reckless and impulsive

.: I. INTRO :.
[ =] About [= ]
This is a quick rundown on how to encrypt files, containers, and drives under
Linux. The use of loopback encrypted filesystems and openssl is explained and examples are given.
This paper should have you encrypting in no time. The following commands were done running
kernel 2.6.9.
.: ENCRYPTING :.
I ll outline how to create encrypted containers and drives using the loopback filesystem support and
file encryption via openssl.

mkfs t ext2 /dev/loop0
The first parameter t ext2 instructs mkfs to format the file with the ext2 filesystem. This is
recommended as it allows you to resize the file if need be.
The last parameter points toward the /dev/loop0 device on which the file was bound.
losetup d /dev/loop0
This command detaches and frees the /dev/loop0 device.
Fourth, mounting your encrypted filesystem.
mount o encryption=aes256 crypto.img crypto_home
Using the mount the command the first parameter to be entered is encryption=aes256 which will tell
the mount command which cipher to use.
The value must be the cipher which you used to encrypt the file.
The second parameter specifies location of file to mount.
The third parameter designates the folder on which to mount the file.
Once mounted you can move files into the mount point and create files within it and when you are
done simply unmount the file.
[ =] Drives [= ]
First, assuming you formated your drive bind the drive to a loopback device.
losetup e aes256 /dev/loop0 /dev/sda1
The parameter e aes256 at the beginning instructs losetup on which cipher to use. The cipher type is
dependent on what your kernel supports.
In this example the AES 256 bit cipher is used but you can use other cipher types such as blowfish
interchangeably.
The second parameter /dev/loop0 is the device to which we bind the drive too. Binding the drive will
allow us to format the file with filesystem.

Biodiesel As A Vehicle Fuel Source
Biodiesel as a vehicle fuel source is the way of the future for America, because it gives citizens
freedom. Biodiesel is a fuel similar to diesel derived from a plant source, like corn, used vegetable oil,
or even algae. This biofuel is created from renewable resources to replace the low source of fossil
fuels that is unfortunately nonrenewable. American society was basically coerced into finding a
substitute for depleting fossil fuel reserves. Rising conflict between the United States (U.S.) and Third
World Countries has caused the prices of crude oil to go up. Due to these situations society had to
come up with a cheaper, renewable source of fuel. Biodiesel is the key to releasing the chains of
restraint that have been placed upon citizens by those third world countries. Scientists can take crops,
oil, or pond scum to make a biodiesel that will help save the environment and economy. Biodiesel fuel
is the key to less price restrictions, as well as society s future and fresh air. Biodiesel will also help
with the noise pollution because industries will be using less of the oil well boom to extract the crude
oil from the ground. Another bonus is that there would be less fracking meaning less harmful
chemicals and natural gas getting into people s water supply. This also means that there would be less
flammable water coming out of a household faucet. When companies frack, they use water with a
thickening agent of some kind to help create pressure for drilling. The pressure

How Did St. Petersburg Change Industrially
During the 1800s St Petersburg, the second largest city in Russia went through dramatic change. A
country that was led by autocrats and czars felt pressure to make changes because its western
european neighbors were already modernizing. Alexander I was the first czar in the early 1800s. He
succeeded his father s reign after he was murdered. Russians were excited for Alexander to take over
and pull Russians out of their darkness. St Petersburg in the era of Alexander I political reform was
brought to life, grand construction projects on buildings, streets, and squares were developed. Saint
Petersburg s is the second largest city in Russia. St. Petersburg lies on the Gulf of Finland. During the
19th century St Petersburg changed industrially. Changes in further improving communications and
trade led to industrial changes. Also, a huge change during this time was navigation and the
improvement of their canals. This lead to the first steamship being built and allowing St. Petersburg to
grow and flourish economically because now the people were able to import and export so much
easier. This city in the 1800s was a time of change and creating new things to make this city thrive.

Why We Shouldn T Have Homework
Why Students Shouldn t Have Homework I believe, as a student, that homework is just a tool that
teachers use to keep us busy. Being a student who has received homework for various years, I have
found that homework causes me a lot of stress (Ethos). Homework causes kids to get very stressed
out, it causes stress in their families, and studies show that it does not improve test scores. Harris
Cooper, a worker at Duke University (Ethos), found out that, doing more than 60 to 90 minute of
homework in middle school and more than 2 hours in high school is associated with much lower
scores (Logos). This just shows that homework is a useless item that students are forced to do. Firstly,
students have to wake up from seven until two o clock everyday, ... Show more content on

By not giving out homework, students will work harder in class and have better grades. Teachers have
to understand that if students are tired from late nights, they wouldn t be able to work efficiently
during the day. In addition, students would be much more excited to come to school because they
know they wouldn t have to worry about getting any homework. In 2010, a survey was taken and it
showed that about 70% of teen ages 11 to 17 get less than 8 hours of sleep per day due to the amount
of homework they have to do (Logos). According to Alfie Kohen, students feel forced to do their
homework, therefore they aren t learning as much as they should (Ethos). Students lose interest in the
topic and do not benefit from what they re learning. In China, a cry for change by a mother who lost
her thirteen year old daughter who committed suicide due to her inability to achieve in math, the
mother considers homework is a huge negative factor toward her deceased daughter s tragic ending
along with the pressure of society (Pathos). Such a story should leave us wondering, how many more
children need to suffer the silent epidemic of school stress. Statistics prove the leading cause for the

Blood Ph Test Lab Report
Why am I having this test?
Arterial blood gases testing is performed to determine if you have enough oxygen in your blood.
These tests also show whether or not your blood pH is balanced. Blood pH balance means that your
blood is not too acidic (acidosis) and not too alkaline (alkalosis). A blood pH imbalance may indicate
a lung (respiratory), metabolic, or kidney disorder.
What is being tested?
The tests may include measurements of the following: pH. This is a measure of hydrogen ion
concentration. The pH level indicates the acid base balance of your blood. With increased amounts of
carbon dioxide and other acids, the pH of your blood decreases. This means that your blood becomes
more acidic.
Partial pressure of carbon dioxide. This is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can be calculated from the pH and the partial pressure of carbon dioxide. It is a measurement of
the metabolic component of the acid base balance.
Partial pressure of oxygen. This is the amount of oxygen gas that is dissolved in the blood.
Oxygen saturation. This is the percentage of hemoglobin oxygen saturation. This refers to how much
oxygen is bound to hemoglobin in the red blood cells and available to be carried through the arteries
to nourish the body s cells.
Oxygen content. This is a calculated value that indicates the amount of oxygen in the blood.
Base excess or deficit. This is a calculated number that represents a sum total of the metabolic
buffering agents (anions) in the blood.
What kind of sample is taken?
A blood sample is required for this test. It is usually collected by inserting a needle into an artery.
How do I prepare for this test?
There is no preparation or fasting required for this test.
What are the reference ranges?
Reference ranges are considered healthy ranges established after testing a large group of healthy
people. Reference ranges may vary among different people, labs, and hospitals. It is your
responsibility to obtain your test results. Ask the lab or department performing the test when and how
you will get your results.

My religion does not control me. The authors E.L. Doctorow, Rushdie, and Paul who wrote in part of
Corinthian all have written that debate against one another. Doctorow is an American author is well
known for historical writing and wrote about how America is not full of infidels. Rushdie is an atheist
who had a bounty on his head from the Islamic state for years; he is known for his writing against
religion. Paul wrote the first epistle of Corinthian, which was directed towards the, the church of God,
in Corinth, Greece; he wrote about how love has do with the individual not God. These authors

Doctorow claims the people of the United States want religion because it is an escape from society s
issues. In addition, the word infidels means one who doubts or rejects central trends of one s religion,
but this word is used more towards Christianity and Islam. However, the United States is made of
many different religions that people look over, such as: The Shakers, Swendenborgians, and
Adventists. Due to the religious freedom in America the nation is filled with a variety of praying,
singing and studying that are practiced by millions. Because of these varieties, many religions
developed in the U.S such as: Mormonism, Christian Science and Native American
Anthropomorphism. It s not about the United States being full of infidels it s about how the United
States decided to keep religion and politics separate. A lot of what Doctorow mentions goes against
what Rushdie ideas of religion are. Rushdie mentions in a sarcastic way that victors of war can t be
close minded because they have God on their side. Basically, saying that those who believe in God
tend to be close minded. In addition, Rushdie things freedom is restricted by religious rule. Doctorow
argues that a country that has freedom of religion gives people the freedom to believe and not believe
in anything they want; without the pressure of religious control. On the other hand, having freedom of
religion in a country allows people to have an open mind by accepting

Social Learning And Teaching Play Essay
There is a part in the handbook, learning and teaching play. Play involves the holistic child, from the
physical, psychological, intellectual, social, and emotional. Either by working independently or group
work. Play is now a big part of the curriculum as doesn t just help with the teaching side, but it also
gives the children a way to relax and be themselves, and to express their feelings or what is going on
in their life through play. (http://ccea.org.uk accessed on 29th November 2016)
Tina Bruce would also be a big influence on play, creativity. She is a social learning theorist . Tina
identified ten principles of early childhood education. Some of these principles where, that a child
needs to be a child. Focus on what children can do taking that as the starting point and lastly the
essential interaction between child, context, and curriculum context if education is to be successful.
(How children learn 3, L. Pound, pg.12 13) Tina Bruce correlates with some of Vygotsky s theory,
with the Zone of Proximal Development. The ZPD is the distance between and student s ability to
perform tasks under guidance from teachers or teaching assistants and being able to solve problems
independently. This was seen in the observation when child A was taking child B s sand. However,
when child B confronted child A he panicked and walked away from the sand table.

organizations working for this sole purpose diligently every day. Periodically we meet or hear
individuals struggling with this devastating category of cancer which is particularly prevalent in
women. According to the recent facts and figures from American Cancer Society about the number of
deaths from breast cancer in US in 2013, among all ages, has gone up to 39,620. This portrays a
massive number, nevertheless analyzing the mortality trend from 1990 2010, one can grasp the death
rate has been decreased to 34%. Consequently, the known reason behind this decline is attributable to
the improvements in our health care system in terms of treatment, in conjunction with the early
detection of breast cancer. Discussing about the risks of having breast cancer, we all know that there
are certain factors which can t be modified that comprise sex, family history, age, early menarche, and
late menopause; however, there are several factors which can be taken care of for instance abstinence
from smoking and alcohol consumption, use of combination oral contraceptives, avoiding obesity, and

the chemical s mind altering effects (National Institute on Drug Abuse [NIDA], 2010). The trend in
inhalant abuse is growing among the young community throughout the country. Surveys have shown
in 2008 2 million Americans of 12 or over reported using inhalants (NIDA, 2010). Young children

Nitrites are a group of chemicals including cyclohexyl nitrite, amyl nitrite, and butyl nitrite. Instead of
acting on the central nervous system for the euphoric effect, nitrites dilate blood vessels, relax the
muscles, and are used for sexual enhancement (NDIC, 2001). Amyl nitrite consists of a clear,
yellowish liquid that is sold in a cloth, covered sealed bulb. This type of nitrite is also known as a
snapper or popper because the bulb makes a snapping sound when it is broken (Missouri Department
of Mental Health, n.d.). On the other hand, butyl nitrite comes in small bottles sold as video head

worse than the other, but in reality they are all equally harmful and all cause short term and long term
effects to a person s health.
All effects of inhalants are harmful to the body. However, the short term effects on a person can be

How to Calculate Beta
How to Calculate Beta Beta refers to the volatility of a particular stock compared against the volatility
of the entire stock market or, in practice, a representative index of that market, such as the Standard
and Poor s (S amp;P) 500. Beta is an indicator of how risky a particular stock is and is used to
evaluate its expected rate of return. Beta is one of the fundamentals stock analysts consider when
choosing stocks for their portfolios, along with price to earnings ratio, shareholder s equity, debt to
equity ratio and other factors. Here s how to calculate beta and use beta to figure an expected rate of
return. Steps Calculating Beta for a Stock 1. 1 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the stock s rate of return is 7 percent and the risk free rate is 2 percent, the difference would be 5
percent. 4. 4 Subtract the risk free rate from the market (or index) rate of return. If the market or index
rate of return is 8 percent and the risk free rate is again 2 percent, the difference would be 6 percent. 5.
5 Divide the difference in the stock s return rate minus the risk free rate by the market (or index) rate
of return minus the risk free rate. This is the beta, which is typically expressed as a decimal value. In
the example above, the beta would be 5 divided by 6, or 0.833. * The beta of the market itself, or its
representative index, is by definition 1.0, as the market is being compared against itself and any
nonzero number divided by itself equals 1. A beta less than 1 means that the stock is less volatile than
the market as a whole, while a beta greater than 1 means the stock is more volatile than the market as
a whole. The beta value can be less than zero, meaning either that the stock is losing money while the
market as a whole is gaining (more likely) or that the stock is gaining while the market as a whole is
losing money (less likely). * When figuring beta, it is common, though not required, to

Racial Disparities Of African Americans
Over the past few decades, there have been a series of African Americans killed by law enforcement
officers. Trayvon Martin, Mike Brown, John Crawford III, Eric Garner and countless others. The
aftermath: the officers who murdered the unarmed men have either been acquitted or there was no
indictment. What happened in Ferguson is years, if not decades in the making. African Americans are
simply tired of having to bury friends and family and discovering the officers, meant to protect the law
and serve the people, are killing black lives and are almost always found not guilty.
The racial disparities against African Americans lies is shameful, but not surprising. Race matters in
the United States. People of color do not receive the same benefits and equality as white people;
whether it be in education, the workplace and in the judicial system. The purpose of this paper is to
analyze the racial disparities to African Americans in what subsequently led to the Black lives Matter
movement. I have chosen a series of photos that capture historical events of protests and movements
including an analysis of one of my images.
Racial disparities and inequality dates all the way back to slavery: when whites abused, raped, tortured
and killed black people. Slavery transformed America into an economic power; the exploitation of
black people made the south the richest and most politically powerful region in the country (ABS).
Black people did not have any rights, instead they were forced

Theme Of The Wife Of His Youth
The Wife of His Youth is an 1898 historical fiction short story by author Charles W. Chesnutt. Charles
Chestnutt is the first African American writer to use folklore in series literature. He was born in
Cleveland, Ohio on June 20, 1858, but spent most of his childhood in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
Growing up in the south had a lasting impact on him, in that it furnished rich material for his fiction.
Therefore, it is not surprising that Chestnutt s characters, settings, scenes and institutions reflect North
Carolina s culture. As a creative writer blossoming in the 1880s, Chesnutt believed that he could use
folklore to stem the tide of racist thinking depicted by the plantation school writers, such as Thomas
Nelson Page and others, who wrote of slavery as a benevolent system. However, by 1905, Chestnutt
realized that fiction was not the route to bring America around to treating African Americans with the
same respect as whites. Consequently, with this realization Chestnutt became a fighter against
discrimination with his voice. He made speeches and wrote essays against all kinds of discrimination
(Young). In his short story The Wife of His Youth , Chesnutt combines the themes of racial identity
and colorism to create the conflict at the center of the story. The prose introduces the readers to a man

Macro Lens
Ever see a spectacular photo of a flower online and wonder the process behind that picture? Well,
professional photographers buy expensive equipment like, lenses, tripods and extension tubes to take
clear crisp photos that have a blurred background. They use composition techniques like the angle of
attack to change the look of their photo. Finally, professionals edit their photos to make colors pop,
brighten shadows and darken highlights. Using good equipment, skill and editing, professional
photographers can create spectacular close up photos. Professional photographers use expensive
equipment to take beautiful pictures. Nice lenses make photos with bokeh (a Japanese word for blur)
in the background, but these are usually pricy. Evin Oke, a professional photographer, says his $700

The human eye finds things of three appealing; this is why many photographers such as Bryan
Peterson use the Rule of Thirds. Shapes, curves, and patterns make a photo more interesting because
they create dimension in a photo. An example of this is if a photographer goes to the market and takes
an apple and places it on top of the pile of oranges. The apple stands out against the oranges patterns,
shapes and curves. A way to create a more dynamic image is to change the angle from which you

change the look of a photo dramatically. Shooting many pictures of flowers may get boring and
repetitive after time, but if a photographer changes his shooting angle, he can create a completely

Colonialism And Postcolonialism
Postcolonialism and Feminism
Abstract
Colonialism/Postcolonialism is a remarkably comprehensive yet accessible guide to the historical and
theoretical dimensions of colonial and postcolonial studies. National fantasies, be they colonial, anti
colonial or postcolonial also play upon the connection between woman, land or nation. Feminist
theory and postcolonial theory are occupied with similar questions of representation, voice,
marginalization, and the relation between politics and literature. Given that both critical projections
employ multidisciplinary perspectives, they are each attentive, at least in principle, to historical
context and the geopolitical co ordinates the subject in question. The identification of women as
national mother stems from a wider association of nation with the family. The topic of feminism and
postcolonialism is integrally tied to the project of literary postcoloniality and its concerns with the
critical reading and interpretation of colonial and postcolonial texts.

The Interior Of The Schroder House
The Schröder House
When looking at the interior of The Schröder House I thought it was best to begin by analysing the
history behind it. The Schroder House was designed by the architect Gerrit Thomas Rietveld. It was
commissioned by Ms Truus Schröder Schräder, and built in 1924 in Utrecht. The Designer Gerrit
Thomas Rietveld lived in Utrecht, the Netherlands and was qualified as a cabinet maker. In 1917
Rietveld set up his own furniture store, this gave him the opportunity to create furniture to his very
own design. He was part of an early 1920 s movement called De Stijl (Dutch for Style.) From 1930
Rietveld worked on his own as an independent Architect. He remained part of the De Stijl movement
until 1931. There he worked alongside Piet Mondriaan and Theo van Doesberg and many others. The
De Stijl movement was formed by a group of architects and artists who were greatly influenced by the
ideals of DaDa. De Stijl was founded by Theo van Doesburg. The term Neo Plasticism, meaning a
new plastic art was adopted by Mondrian to describe the types of work the movement members
created. De Stijl was based around the principals of fundamental geometry. On commissioning the
building of the The Schröder House Mrs. Schroder had three particular criteria; she wished her
children s bedrooms should be able to fit their bed in two different positions, all should have a door to
access the outdoors directly and each room should have access to the

In theory, it has been proved that futures and swaps can be equal to the combination of forwards. (Hull
J C, 1997)Generally, a foreign exchange settlement contract will be signed by banks and their
customers, which stipulates the type of foreign currency to be used, the sum, the exchange rates and
duration. On the due date when income or expenditure of foreign exchange occurs, currency exchange
settlement will be operated in accordance with the contract. In order to improve efficiency, it s
necessary to adjust the hedging when using forward contracts. (Brealey R, Kaplanis E. 1995)When the
interest rate fluctuates randomly, the forwards strategy can be divided into three smaller parts: the
Minimum Variance Hedging, Merton / Breeden Hedging and speculation. (Briys E, Solnik B.

Its recreational use became widespread throughout the white upper middle class. In the 1970 s Richard
Nixon and Congress instituted a War on Drugs . (Shectman, M., 2012). Marijuana, however, was
categorized separately from other narcotics, which eliminated mandatory sentences for small amounts.
In 1986, President Reagan signed the Anti Drug Abuse Act, which instituted mandatory sentences for
drug related crimes. Possession of 100 marijuana plants now carried the same penalty as possession of
100 grams of heroin. This act was later amended to include the, three strikes, you re out policy,
requiring life sentences for repeat drug offenders. In 1989, President Bush reinforced this policy by
declaring a new War on Drugs . ( Marijuana Timeline ).
Effects on Justice System Cannabis or marijuana prohibition has a grossly negative effect on the
economy. This impact continues to weigh heavily on the justice system. Not only does the prohibition
require enforcement, processing and incarcerations which generates millions in costs to the
government, it also causes millions of missed revenues because of its illegal status. In 2006, a study
was performed by King and Mauer regarding the War on Drugs, focusing on the effects of the war on
marijuana. Their study included some startling statistics and conclusions. The results of this study

Personification Of Autumn Summary
Whether it was fate, an act of the gods, or just a coincidence of nature, the earth was tilted on its axis
at creation, resulting in the phenomenon of seasons as it endlessly orbits the sun. Winter, spring,
summer, and fall. The seasons come and go as do the unique features that each one holds. But is each
season treasured equally to its individual worth? Or do they all blend together as time slips through the
world s fingers? The beauty of life found within Autumn can t be fully appreciated until the limit of
time and inability to avoid death is accepted.
In the first stanza, Keats develops his ode to Autumn through vivid imagery detailing his appreciation
for the season s life as well as his acknowledgement of the death that succeeds it. Although fall is a
transition to death, the season itself symbolizes a harvest of life, shown through the personification of
Autumn as a Close bosom friend of the maturing sun; Conspiring with him how to load and bless With
fruit the vines that round the thatch eves run. The detailed imagery of the sun and Autumn working
together to bring about the life of the season reveals the speaker s respect for the natural beauty and
life created by the season. However, death is not entirely absent from the first stanza, as the diction of
the maturing sun reveals that the speaker is aware that fall will not last forever, and the death of winter
will eventually take over. The speaker s internal conflict over the inevitable loss of Autumn is shown

understand the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is actually essential for life on earth to exist
as it allows the planet to remain warm enough to sustain life. For example if we consider for moment
a simplistic comparison of a car parked in the sun. The rays of the sun enter the car through the
windows and some of the heat is absorbed by items inside the car (seats, dashboard etc). These objects
will in turn begin to release heat and some of this heat escapes back through the windows but some of
the heat is reflected back into the car. The result is that more heat enters the car than is able to escape
it and the interior of the car warms up. So if you think of the earth s atmosphere as the car s interior.
The landscape and structures on earth can be seen as the cars seats and dashboard. The role of the cars
windows is played by certain things within the earth s atmosphere such as carbon dioxide, methane
gas and water vapour which absorb the heat reflected by the earth below. These are known as
greenhouse gasses.
When there are more greenhouse gasses present in the atmosphere, more heat can be retained leading
to a rise in the temperature of our planet. This is what I

The Old Testament Prophets
Introduction: Haggai is the prophet that tethers the Old Testament Prophets to second temple Judiasm
and New Testament Christianity. The man himself is covered in mystery and intrigue. Who is this
prophet that comes on the scene and vanishes as fast as he appears? The context is in a time when the
Israelites are back in the land YWHW promised, yet things feel much different. The temple is not yet
in construction and the Judeans are having trouble with the indigenous Samaritans. Haggai has a
challenge, but he is just the man for the job, and YWH has called him for just the time as this. Haggai
The person: Little is known of the prophet Haggai. The name Haggai means feast of Yahweh or by
contraction, Hagariah means Yahweh hath girded. This leads scholars to believe that he was born on a
feast day. Another theory is that the writer of the book recorded Haggai s prophecies later, and like
Malachi, gave him a nickname because he prophesied on feast days. He prophesied for a very short
time. Haggai 1:15 record the dates of Haggai s prophetic ministry. He prophesied in the Second year
of King Darius (521 486), in the year 520 from August 29th to December 18th. These 15 short weeks
make up one of the smallest prophetic ministries in the prophetic books. We also know Haggai existed
through other biblical and extra biblical sources. The book of Ezra contains passages mentioning
Haggai initiating the reconstruction of the temple (Ezra 5:1, Ezra 6:14 15). He is documented in

Action Area that links with Join The Drive is Developing Personal Skills and the Social Justice
Principle is Supportive Environments. The stakeholders that are affected include the driver, the

Research Paper On Pericardiitis
Two cardiovascular conditions that are rare is Pericarditis and acute/ subacute bacterial endocarditis.
Pericarditis is the inflammation of the pericardium (two thin layers of the sac like that encloses the
heart or the myocardium). Within this sac, there is small amount of fluid, that keeps the layers apart,
therefore no friction occurs between them, as the heart pumps blood to body. This condition can occur
secondary to a heart attack (MI), a condition name Dressler s syndrome, or following a coronary
artery surgery. Furthermore, it is also commonly seen in patients with connective tissue disorders such
as Rheumatoid arthritis(RA), Systemic Lupus Erythematosus(SLE), scleroderma, and sarcoidosis.

  • 3. The Importance Of Antisocial Behavior The prefrontal cortex is responsible for higher mental functions such as personality, attention, arousal, behaviour control etc., as well as being closely linked with structures involved in emotion and memory development (e.g. the amygdala). Damage to the PFC may disrupt normal behaviour functioning and cause some individuals to engage in negative, antisocial behaviours, or even have an extremely negative personality change. However, arguments suggest the behaviour may be a result of poor childhood upbringing with negative social surroundings. S.2.1a of the Anti Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 defines antisocial behaviour as conduct that has caused, or is likely to cause, harassment, alarm or distress to any person . Individuals who are antisocial tend to be very impulsive, inconsiderate of others, lack motivation in personal progression and disregard social norms. It is argued that the trait is caused by social influences, such as strict disciplinary enforcements by parents, bullying behaviours within families and ignorance of prosocial acts, causing an operant conditioning of negative and abusive behaviour to be forced upon the child (Patterson Debaryshe, Ramsey, 1990). Further arguments suggest antisocial behaviour is a result of poor welfare, by the mother, during prenatal stages such as smoking. (Liu Wuerker, 2005). Exposure to nicotine in the womb has been associated with altering the brain s chemical levels, such as reducing levels of dopamine and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Improper reinforcement is simply defined, as reinforcing behaviors under certain circumstances and not reinforcing them under other circumstances. When teaching a child to follow certain behaviors you have to have a method of reinforcement whether it be positive or negative. It is always good to have a discipline method. The proper thing to do is the proper thing to do, so to speak. Just because a child can talk doesn t mean she s able to problem solve or attach the right words to what she s feeling, so she may try to get what she wants by other means. Like hitting, kicking another child or pushing. You have to properly reinforce this behavior. Detour the child from the situation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Professional Sports And The Civil Era Professional sports were segregated in the United States, just like the rest of the country was during the 1940s, but between the cooperation of two men the color barrier was broken in professional sports. The unwritten rule of not allowing blacks to play professional baseball had been standing since the 1880s. No professional sport in America at the time had any participating African Americans, yet many African Americans were participating in the Olympics. Famous African American olympians, such as Jesse Owens and John Taylor, were highly celebrated for their accomplishments, yet no change was made within the professional sports world. Robinson was not the first attempt at breaking the color barrier in professional sports but Branch Rickey, the President and GM of the Dodgers, felt he was the one to complete the transformation. The African Americans in the United States were still playing baseball beyond college at this time, but in their own collection of leagues called the Negro Major Leagues. African Americans were able to play in some of the integrated colleges around the country but the integration ended there. They were allowed to play in Major League Baseball but it just did not happen, the MLB commissioner of the time Judge Landis said, there was no rule on the books prohibiting a black man from joining a major league team. It was up to the owners to hire whom they pleased (Golenbock). Judge Landis had no problem stating the fact that they were allowed to play ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. String Quartet No. 4 The setting of this performance was just in the classroom. It was very informal, which was nice. The audience was mostly students from our class as well as being students from a theory class. The first piece String Quartet No. 5, Op. 18, by Beethoven, was very upbeat. It felt like I was in at formal dance or almost like a ballroom at a fancy party. It was very interesting to listen to as it had a very brisk pace, but then went to a tone that was a little darker and then followed with some happy again. The second song was String Quartet No. 4 by Leon Kirchner was quite interesting. The song had many notes that contrasted with one another. The third song String Quartet No. 4 by Henry Cowell was very interesting as well. This song gave a presence of a song that was influenced by Asian music. This song, unlike the last one, was more upbeat and lively. When I heard this song, at first I thought of someone a shot of Chinese people working in a rice patty from a movie. This song gave a very strong Asian influence and I quite enjoyed this song as well. The fourth song Rondo in F major by Anton Webern gave the appearance of a waltz. One can hear the smoothness in the transitions between each notes, unless the prior song. One can tell that this song is of an older production. The song itself, gave a very somber mood behind it as the song sounded as if it was played in a minor key. It was quite harsh and gave me the impression that something bad was happening. The final song was Four, tango by Astor Piazolla gave a sense of a very fast pace, mixed with dramatic pauses. This song was based off a tango and originated in Buenas Aries. • 9. Persuasive Essay On Underage Drinking The law does not stop underage drinking. In the United States, the minimum drinking age is 21, while in many other countries it ranges from 16 18. In Germany, minors who are as young as fourteen can drink alcoholic beverages including wine and beer within the supervison of a parent or legal guardian. There has been much controversy over alcohol for numerous years, the most recent argument is whether the legal drinking age should be twenty one or lowered to eighteen. Minimizing the legal drinking age from twenty one to eighteen would be a successful step in reshaping the binge drinking culture in this country, encouraging young adults to safely participate in the activity of drinking alcohol, and permitting those of legal age the chance to entirely and responsibly make adult decisions. College students across the nation are engaging in the illegal activity of drinking alcohol every weekend. M. B. Esser M. Siegel, who are both medical doctors, say A systematic literature review found that as youth are exposed to a greater volume of alcohol marketing, they are more likely to drink or for those who already drink, to drink more. (Esser, and Siegel 426) This concept makes me think of how much alcohol is consumed on college campuses making others feel forced or cool if they do so. The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism determined that there are presently 10.8 million American underage drinkers. Many argue that 18 year olds are too reckless and impulsive to ... • 13. Biodiesel As A Vehicle Fuel Source Biodiesel as a vehicle fuel source is the way of the future for America, because it gives citizens freedom. Biodiesel is a fuel similar to diesel derived from a plant source, like corn, used vegetable oil, or even algae. This biofuel is created from renewable resources to replace the low source of fossil fuels that is unfortunately nonrenewable. American society was basically coerced into finding a substitute for depleting fossil fuel reserves. Rising conflict between the United States (U.S.) and Third World Countries has caused the prices of crude oil to go up. Due to these situations society had to come up with a cheaper, renewable source of fuel. Biodiesel is the key to releasing the chains of restraint that have been placed upon citizens by those third world countries. Scientists can take crops, oil, or pond scum to make a biodiesel that will help save the environment and economy. Biodiesel fuel is the key to less price restrictions, as well as society s future and fresh air. Biodiesel will also help with the noise pollution because industries will be using less of the oil well boom to extract the crude oil from the ground. Another bonus is that there would be less fracking meaning less harmful chemicals and natural gas getting into people s water supply. This also means that there would be less flammable water coming out of a household faucet. Beta is one of the fundamentals stock analysts consider when choosing stocks for their portfolios, along with price to earnings ratio, shareholder s equity, debt to equity ratio and other factors. Charles Chestnutt is the first African American writer to use folklore in series literature. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on June 20, 1858, but spent most of his childhood in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Growing up in the south had a lasting impact on him, in that it furnished rich material for his fiction. Therefore, it is not surprising that Chestnutt s characters, settings, scenes and institutions reflect North Carolina s culture. As a creative writer blossoming in the 1880s, Chesnutt believed that he could use folklore to stem the tide of racist thinking depicted by the plantation school writers, such as Thomas Nelson Page and others, who wrote of slavery as a benevolent system. However, by 1905, Chestnutt realized that fiction was not the route to bring America around to treating African Americans with the same respect as whites. Consequently, with this realization Chestnutt became a fighter against discrimination with his voice. He made speeches and wrote essays against all kinds of discrimination (Young). The Designer Gerrit Thomas Rietveld lived in Utrecht, the Netherlands and was qualified as a cabinet maker. In 1917 Rietveld set up his own furniture store, this gave him the opportunity to create furniture to his very own design. He was part of an early 1920 s movement called De Stijl (Dutch for Style.) • 42. Personification Of Autumn Summary Whether it was fate, an act of the gods, or just a coincidence of nature, the earth was tilted on its axis at creation, resulting in the phenomenon of seasons as it endlessly orbits the sun. Winter, spring, summer, and fall. The seasons come and go as do the unique features that each one holds. But is each season treasured equally to its individual worth? Or do they all blend together as time slips through the world s fingers? The beauty of life found within Autumn can t be fully appreciated until the limit of time and inability to avoid death is accepted. In the first stanza, Keats develops his ode to Autumn through vivid imagery detailing his appreciation for the season s life as well as his acknowledgement of the death that succeeds it. Although fall is a transition to death, the season itself symbolizes a harvest of life, shown through the personification of Autumn as a Close bosom friend of the maturing sun; Conspiring with him how to load and bless With fruit the vines that round the thatch eves run. The detailed imagery of the sun and Autumn working together to bring about the life of the season reveals the speaker s respect for the natural beauty and life created by the season. However, death is not entirely absent from the first stanza, as the diction of the maturing sun reveals that the speaker is aware that fall will not last forever, and the death of winter will eventually take over. The speaker s internal conflict over the inevitable loss of Autumn is shown ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Global Warming And The Greenhouse Effect Global warming is the increase in the average surface temperature of the Earth due to the effect of the buildup of greenhouse gases, due to deforestation and burning fossil fuels which causes the heat to be trapped that would otherwise escape from the earth. To understand global warming, you need to understand the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is actually essential for life on earth to exist as it allows the planet to remain warm enough to sustain life. For example if we consider for moment a simplistic comparison of a car parked in the sun. The rays of the sun enter the car through the windows and some of the heat is absorbed by items inside the car (seats, dashboard etc). These objects will in turn begin to release heat and some of this heat escapes back through the windows but some of the heat is reflected back into the car. The result is that more heat enters the car than is able to escape it and the interior of the car warms up. So if you think of the earth s atmosphere as the car s interior. The landscape and structures on earth can be seen as the cars seats and dashboard. The role of the cars windows is played by certain things within the earth s atmosphere such as carbon dioxide, methane gas and water vapour which absorb the heat reflected by the earth below. These are known as greenhouse gasses. When there are more greenhouse gasses present in the atmosphere, more heat can be retained leading to a rise in the temperature of our planet. This is what I ... The name Haggai means feast of Yahweh or by contraction, Hagariah means Yahweh hath girded. This leads scholars to believe that he was born on a feast day. Another theory is that the writer of the book recorded Haggai s prophecies later, and like Malachi, gave him a nickname because he prophesied on feast days. He prophesied for a very short time. Haggai 1:15 record the dates of Haggai s prophetic ministry. He prophesied in the Second year of King Darius (521 486), in the year 520 from August 29th to December 18th.
