2. Analysis Of Canadian Politician Ron Johnson
Pricing is actually a pretty simple and straight forward thing. Customers will not pay
literally a penny more than the true value of the product (Johnson, R. n.d.). The
introductory citation by Canadian Politician Ron Johnson lays the foundation for this
case assignment. A case assignment composed of proposals to numerous companies
pertaining to their pricingstrategy. For products created by their individual
organizations. Let s kickoff this case assignment by exploring possible strategies, for
a company that recently developed a new 3D television.
3D television:
A company has produced a state of the art 3D television that contains unique
features, that is different from other 3D televisions currently in the market. This
company acquired a patent on a new technology that doesn t involve the end user to
put on 3D glasses to enjoy the effect and display of this contemporary television.
Due, to the patent and superior technology this company will revel in the advantage
it will gain over other companies for at least a year or two. So, it would be prudent
that this company heeds the following advice, in protecting their interest concerning
the pricing strategy for this advanced 3D television.
Consider your overall marketing goals, such as penetrating new markets with new
products, or maintaining a higher market share with existing products compared to
your closest competitors (Paley, N. 2006). Since, technology is constantly developing
and manufacturers are always

From having no claims to power, to being mayor of two palaces. Charles Martel
unified France. In 732 he fought off the Muslim invasion into Gaul.
Charles was born in 688 in Herstal, which is in modern day Belgium. He was an
illegitimate son of Pepin of Herstal and his mistress, Alpaida. He had a brother
named Childebrand. He married twice, first to Rotrude of Treves and had five
children before her death in 724. They were: Hiltrud Carloman, Landrade, Auda, and
Pepin the Short. After Rotrude s death, he married Swanhild, and had Grifo. Charles
also had an affair with his mistress, Ruodhaid. They had four children, and they were:
Bernard, Hieronymus, Regimigius, and Ian. He also started the trend of using heavy

Some Historians claim that if Charles had failed, Islam would have conquered Gaul
and the rest of Europe, and Islam would be the dominant religion, and wipe out

continued to push the Muslims out of Gaul, and back into Spain, then they were
pushed back into Asia by his descendants. Before Charles Martel died in 741, he split
his kingdom between his legitimate sons. Carloman received Austrasia, Pepin the
Short received Neustria, and Grifo got a few lands throughout the
4. LF Disease Pathogenesis Paper
Pathogenesis of LF disease:
There are several important progress have been achieved in understanding of
pathogenesis of LF disease, which primarily based on animal experiments and biopsy
from the patients.
Figure: Pathogenesis of LF disease (lymphedema, hydrocele, elephantiasis).
Adapted from Nutman, 2013.
The Filarial worm and their products have direct effect on lymphatic endothelial cells,
and cells of adaptive and innate immune system. The interaction of inflammatory
/immune mediators, molecules of parasite, Wolbachia and other factors contribute to
pathogenesis and development of LF disease. The secondary bacterial infections
further complicate the pathology.

Worms produces small reaction when they are alive. However, after death of adult
worm, a granulomatous reaction started (Dreyer et al., 2000; Figueredo Silva et al.,
2002)
The host adaptive immune response produces an inflammatory reaction to the death
or dying parasites. The subsequent release of parasite molecules and inflammatory
mediators results an irreversible lymphatics dysfunction. (Figueredo Silva et al.,
2002; Nutman, 2013). The lymphatic dysfunction predispose a suitable environment
for secondary bacterial or fungal infection, initiate inflammatory reaction in the skin
and subcutaneous tissue, and enhance progression of lymphedema and precipitate the
development of elephantiasis (Nutman, 2013)
The role of inflammatory cytokines of innate origin have been shown to have vital
role in pathogenesis of lymphedema. Individuals having chronic LF disease, contain
elevated level of pro inflammatory cytokines and C reactive protein.
An important factor associated with the inflammatory response and increase release
of C reactive protein plus vascular endothelial growth factor might be the Wolbachia,
an endosymbiotic, intracellular bacteria live in the most filarial nematodes (Pfarr et

5. Prejudice-Reduction Techniques
Prejudice Reduction Techniques could be referring to a collection of techniques
designed to break down these destructive stereotypes. Most often prejudice reduction
programs take place on a small scale in workshops, for example, which bring together
people from different groups to help them develop a better mutual understanding. At
times, efforts are made to reduce prejudiceamong the general population. This can be
done with widespread media efforts and/or public education programs, often
implemented during the grade school years.
Prejudices are present for a reason. It simplifies the world and makes it easier to
understand. That being said, sometimes, prejudices are taken way too far and

I have automatically assumed that all Asian people don t speak English well.
Maybe this is enforced by the movies that I have watched, but even now I still find
it quite surprising when I anticipate an Asian woman speaking broken English only
to have her speak English better than me. Even my son who was raised in America,
speaks no Tagalog like I was raised with, and it amazes me sometimes. In order to
get rid of this prejudice, categorization (as described by the textbook) should allow
me to only assign this prejudice in scenarios where it is acceptable. For example, I
shouldn t automatically assume broken English until I hear a word first, and only
then should I change my speech patterns if someone doesn t speak proper
6. Symbolism In Stranger Than Fiction By Marc Forster
In the contemporary film Stranger Than Fiction by Marc Forster, Harold Crick, the
main character is being written about in a book without him knowing that the voice
in his head was the narrator. To make things worse the author does not even know
that her main character is real and that everything she writes down happens to him
in real life. Symbolism is vital and it adds depth and emotion to the film by making
the film more relatable to the audience, makes a greater impact, instead of just being
a scene that is straight through, it is more flexible, and it is also a crucial part of the
plotas one symbolcan drive the characters to be more dynamic and last the length of
the whole plot.
The audience can make a much better connection with the film when symbolism is
used, better than relating to an action or object alone. For the audience, a story that
you can not read into is extremely boring but, when symbolism is used, it makes the
audience connect to the story and develop their own ideas about the story or scene.
For example, when Mrs. Pascal gives Harold cookies, it symbolises the spreading of
happiness. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If there was not symbolism, the story or scene would not have much detail or be
flexible within different audience members. Without symbolism, the story will
just seem like the author put no thought into it but, when symbolism is added to it,
the story seems more detailed. When Harold tells Kay, the author of the book that
is being written about Harold, to finish her book and to kill him in the book which
will actually kill him in real life, this symbolises acceptance of fate. If there was
not this sort of symbolism in this scene it would seem like this story had no
emotion or detail. Symbolism is a necessary element to having a story with emotion
and detail, everybody has a different perspective on what a certain things symbolises,
so it creates the story to be more flexible as

Black Nationalism is still around in the minds of many blacks. Today it leans more
towards cultural nationalism. Cultural nationalism, then and now, does not affect the

Today it takes the form of cultural nationalism. This can be seen with the many black
men and women reverting back to natural hair styles. Clothes from past eras that
show pride in African heritage or include an image that remembers a piece of African

nationalism appear when people are tired of being wronged. This can be seen in
Ferguson, Missouri when in response to the death an unarmed black youth, people
began to protest. The people are demanding: justice, a thorough investigation of the
police department, and if the investigation turns up wrongdoing then a new police
department. (Horwitz Kindy). These tired people have all of the making of a black

Whenever someone is told that they need a transplant, typically they start to have
feeling such as anxiety and aren t sure about the procedure. They then may want to
know if the procedure would really be worth it and if it is going to work and they
also may want to know when they will get the organ. The issue with this is that it
takes a while to get an organfrom a deceased individual and transplant teams are
trying to do whatever they can to increase the amount of live donors. With the proper
medications and therapies along with proper thinking, successful matches can be
found a lot more quickly. There are several components that must match between the
donor and the recipient. They both must have the exact same bloodtype, antigens, and

What this process does is removes antibodies naturally found within the recipient s
body so that way the new kidney won t be rejected. What happens is blood gets
extracted from the body and then plasma cells get separated and them albumin or
fresh frozen plasma is exchanged with the extracted plasma. After the exchange is
finished, the blood is put back into the body. Once this is conducted, the recipient s
titer cross match will continuously be monitored. The purpose for this is to see if the
titer levels drop and if they do, then the transplant can occur. If they are still too high
however, the transplant will be postponed and medical therapies will continue to be
conducted until the levels drop low
9. Character Sketch Of Jane Eyre

AP Lang, Period 5

Jane Eyre
Biographical Sketch Charlotte Bronte was born in Thornton, Yorkshire in 1816, to
Patrick and Maria Bronte. Maria died five years later and left the care of her six
children to her unpleasant aunt, Elizabeth Branwell. Within a few years, Charlotte s
older sisters, Maria and Elizabeth, died from tuberculosis due to a typhoid outbreak
at the Cowan Bridge School. The school also largely represented the Lowood
Institution in Bronte s novel, Jane Eyre. Charlotte completely despised Cowan
Bridge School, and she bashed the academy for its harsh religious doctrine and
unsanitary conditions (Shuttleworth). Bronte expresses her dreadful experience at
Cowan Bridge School in Jane Eyre, where Jane also endures harsh treatment at the
Lowood Institution. However, Bronte mitigated the dreadfulness in her novel since
pamphlets were published defending the school and its proprietors. Charlotte s
father rarely communicated with her and her siblings, and they also had little
contact with the outside world. As a result, the children would spend their time
creating imaginary stories on tiny sheets of paper. Charlotte created a fantasy realm
called Angria, which was ruled by the Duke of Zamorna. He was supposed to be an
evil man who was ruled by strength of will and feeling and easily conquered women,
yet women could not resist their uncontrollable attraction towards him (Encyclopedia
of World Biography). In fact, Jane Eyre s Rochester
10. Peter And The Starcatcher Analysis
Peter and the Starcatcher , written by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, is a prequel
to the Broadway hit, Peter and Wendy. This comedic play reveals to the audience the
origins of Peter Pan. This story tells how Peter Pan went from being an orphan in
England without a name, to Peter Pan, the flying boy on the island of Never Land.
The design of this allows the audience to reach their imaginative capacity while
watching while highlighting and emphasizing key plot points throughout the story.
The two design areas I will be describing and evaluating is the lighting and the scenic
design. However, this play exemplifies all four aspects of design flawlessly; the
lighting, sound, scenic and costume designs are said to be more sensible to the
design than any other Broadway show. This is an extraordinary and excellent play
because of the amazing design, the lighting designer and scenic designer used many
ways to produce a variety of effects on the audience. The first category of design I
will be evaluating is the lighting. Many different tactics are used by the lights to
illustrate different effects on the audience. One thing done is the color of the lights
changed frequently. This was used to change the scene from day to night, change the
weather, change the mood of the characters, and more. For example, the sunset and
sunrise was often shown when the characters were aboard and on the beach of
Neverland. Another tactic used by the lighting crew was changing the angle of the

Violence in the Media
It has been a long day and you decide to sit down to relax while watching some
television. You turn on the TV and begin flipping through channels. On one channel,
you see some random news report on a tragic school shooting that occurred across the
country. Changing to another, you might catch the last 30 minutes of a slasher,
horror flick. The last channel you come across, before turning off the TV, features a
popular television show where the main cast fights a new villain.
The common theme that anybody would see here, between the latest movie and local
news report, would be violence. Some violence might be animated or meant to be
comical in some way whereas other forms are highly graphic, containing a large
amount of blood and detail. It is not unheard of for most members of society to have
been exposed to violence through the media. Children, teenagers, or young adults
may witness it in the latest most popular video game. Adults may watch it in their
favorite scary movies or sci fi television show. Are children more prone to violent

1. Introduction
Additive layer manufacturing, also known as Three Dimensional (3D) printing,
provides a unique fabrication process that allows users to produce structurally
complex components by the successive fusion of layers [1]. This technique offers
businesses and consumers the ability to quickly develop custom components on
demand and at a lower economical cost [2]. In 2016, a PriceWaterhouseCoopers
(PWC) report indicates that, out of 71% of US manufactures implementing 3D
printing and 42% believe the volume of 3D printer use will increase in the next three
to five years [3].
The impact of 3D printing can already be seen in both industrial and consumer
markets [2]. The 2015 Wohlers Associates report stated that 32.5% of all Additive
manufactured objects were used for functional components. Additionally, the report
detailed the 3D printing industry accounted for $5.165 billion of revenue [4]. The
aviation, medical, automotive, and manufacturing industries are currently utilizing
3D printing [4 9]. Airbus, within the aviation industry, recently produced the world
s largest 3D printed cabin component. The component produced is a dividing wall
that sits between the passenger seating and galley. General Electric is currently 3D
printing jet engine fuel nozzles and forecast that 100,000 parts will be created by
their Aviation division using 3D printers by 2020 [10]. Since 2014 NASA has been
researching the ability to print on demand components in space utilizing a 3D

15. Essay on Nuclear Terrorism Not Likely
Abstract: Now that the Cold War is over, both the United States and the former Soviet
Republics are dismantling their nuclear arsenals. Because of a less than reliable
system of nuclear security in Russia, the chances of terrorists group obtaining
uranium or plutonium from Russia have increased. However, in order to assemble the
nuclear weapon, the group would need both knowledge and all the necessary
materials. Thus, a nuclear threatby a terrorist is possible but not very likely.

and the former Soviet republics. This is because the nuclear weapons are dismantled
into the basic components, the most potentially dangerous piece being the uranium or
plutonium center that fuels the nuclear explosion. These materials are now more
readily available to terrorist groups than ever before because of lax security in Russia
and the other former Soviet republics.
To understand the problem these nuclear fuels present, certain clarifications need to
made. There are many different grades of plutonium and uranium. Most grades,
(known as reactor grades) are usable in nuclear reactors. However, in order for
plutonium or uranium to be used in a nuclear weapon, they need to be in a very
high grade (often referred to as bomb grade). In its high grade form, uranium is
known as uranium 235 or highly enriched uranium (HEU). Plutonium is known as
plutonium 239 when it is bomb grade. Both elements rarely occur in the bomb grade
form. In fact, only 0.7% of uranium that is formed naturally is bomb grade. The other
99.3% can be changed into bomb grade plutonium using expensive nuclear reactors.
During the Cold War, these bomb grade supplies of uranium and plutonium were
protected because they were in nuclear warheads under the control of the super
powers armed forces. However, now in Russia, the control of these weapons is being
transferred from the

Boer War: The Boer war began in 1899 and ended in 1902. It took place in South
Africa and was initially a conflict between the British army and the Dutch settlers
however, the Canadian government also agreed to send some of their troops to help
support the British (the English Canadians were eager to join the French Canadians
were not.).
This event was significant for Canada because, it was the first time they had fought in
a big battle that counted, even if it was under the control of Britain, it was also the
first time they participated in a war overseas, and it put Canada in the worlds
spotlight because it brought attention to them.
Alaskan Boundary Dispute: The Alaskan boundary dispute commenced in 1898
because of the Yukon gold rush the borders needed to be more clear between Yukon
and Alaska. The negotiations began in 1899 with the Americans wishing to extend
into Canadian territory. A tribunal was set up in 1903 with one American
representative and one Canadian representative.
The British sided with the Americans to give them the more popular vote and this
decision was one of the first times when Canadians realized that they wouldn t
always be able to rely on or trust the British and because of this it also made future
prime ministers draw further and further away from the British government.

Winston (2004) stated that one of the essential components to recognize universities
is the distinctions in revenue accessible to help student subsidize their education.
Initially, he called attention to the fact that both public and private institutions are
similar in their subsidies but one uses them to finance items to support their
utilization, while the last depends on charitable gifts to get a similar thing and with
similar magnitudes. Nonetheless, the comparative appropriations in both open and
private sector institutions are created through various cost and price approaches,
which prompts diverse measure of student subsidy accessible at every organization.

Heller Nelson s examinations demonstrate that schools and colleges are moving their
concentration to making a class of selective students and climbing up on the
distinction stepping stool. At the end of the day, however, the chain of importance of
advanced education considered by these two authors is construct more in light of the
establishments scholastic importance than on the span of student sponsorships
accessible at the schools.
Subsidizing Public Higher Education Customarily, open or public, advanced
education is intensely sponsored and bolstered by the federal government.
Comprehensively, resources that help student subsidies in the public colleges and
universities principally originate from the general public as a result of the conviction
that advanced education is something worth being thankful for and that society all in
all will profit by having all the more knowledgeable individuals (Winston, 2004).
Therefore, the government, in type of the general public, relies upon income to create
public appropriations to help advanced education.
Initially, the government is the biggest contributor of outside awards and money
related funding to students. Government money is mostly need based, which implies
students need to exhibit that they have budgetary needs to be qualified for the grants
(Archibald and Feldman, 2011). The essential initial step that most students need
18. Explain Why Is Australia Unique
Being occupied by humans for over 40 000 years, Australia is seen as one of the
oldest continents in the world. Australia is viewed as one of the most physically
unique places in the world. The ways in which that Australia is perceived as unique is
through her size, location, fauna, flora and landforms.
Firstly a factor making Australia physically unique is it s size and how it compares
to the other countries and continents in the world. Australia is one of the world s
smallest continents in the world. A way that shows Australia as one of the smallest
continents is that it has a land mass of only 7682 square kilometres and is slightly
smaller than the USA. Another reason why Australia is one of the smallest
continents is because it 33% the size of Russia meaning that approximately three
Australians can fit into Russia. Therefore, it is evidently clear that Australia is
physically unique because of it s small size as it is almost the size of the United States
and is three times smaller than Russia.

The Tragic Flaws of Oedipus Rex
At one time in our lives there is a moment that we may think of ourselves as better
than someone or something else. There may also be a point when making a decision
leads to a great error in judgment. In the play Oedipus Rex, written by Sophocles,
both of these characteristics can be seen in the main character. These characteristics
are known as tragic flaws. These flaws are known as hubris meaning excess pride,
leading to overconfidence, and hamartia meaning errors and weakness in judgment.
Both of these characteristics are the main reason of destruction and downfall in
mankind and the tragic hero in this play. The tragic hero is unable to escape his

It ends sorrowfully and disastrously, and this outcome seems inevitable. In a
tragedy, the main character can also be seen as the tragic hero. The tragic hero in
this play is Oedipus. He is neither good nor bad. Due to the flaws in his actions and
behaviors, he will fall from the good graces of everyone surrounding him.
The first incident where Oedipus shows an error in judgment, is when he
disregards Teiresias s warning. He is too hardheaded to even listen to what Teiresias
has to say to him. In doing this, he creates his own downfall. He disregards all the
information given to him because he believes he knows his own destiny, he believes
he has done everything in his power to change his misfortune.
Another incident where there is an error in judgment, is when Oedipus runs from
his own homeland including his mother and father. He is trying to escape of fate.
He was told by the gods above that he would, in his future, kill his father and marry
his mother. By moving somewhere else, he believes the gods will be unable to touch

23. The London Plan And Environmentally Sustainable
How is the London Plan both demographically and environmentally sustainable?
The London Plan, is a complex, yet vital part of the UK s capital cities roots as it
contributes to the efficient day to day running of the city, whilst also aiming to aid
sustainable development. The most recent update to the London Plan was released in
2015 which covered multiple topical issues ranging from strategic housing,
transport, dealing with the pressures of climate change, economic development,
quality of life and managing demographics. The plan is often referred to as a
Spatial Development Strategy (SDS) and is produced by the mayor and his
councillors for all 33 London boroughs. According to National Planning Policy

In modern day society, especially amongst geographers and planners, the concept of
sustainability and sustainable development is vital when making decisions that effects
both people and the environment, as it involves using today s resources in a way that
ensures they are still available for future generations to come. Sustainable
development is an important concept for the future of the world, and for
developments in geography. The idea of sustainable development is a bridge between
geography and compatible disciplines. Beyond that, it is a conduit through which
geographers can contribute to a positive future for life on earth . With that in mind, it
is essential that if the London Plan wishes to be successful, it must consider how they
are going to integrate the aspect of sustainability into their development, especially
with the increasing pressures of changing demographics, (e.g. overpopulation, green
belt development and housing crisis s) and climate change heightening the risk of
flooding, increased temperatures, energy issues and drought across not

So in my research I will test girls from the ages of 13 19 from high school and
college. I will give them surveys that will ask how much media they are exposed
to. With questions that see if they are watching TV shows like 90210, or Melrose
Place and magazines such as Seventeen, and Cosmopolitan. Then the girls can then
be split into two groups; Group 1 with the girls that are exposed to little forms of
media, and Group 2 with girls that are exposed to many forms of media. They then
will be given another survey that will ask how much they weigh, how they see
themselves, and what type of body image they desire. Body image is being
measured by the conceptualized as a multidimensional construct that represents how
individuals think, feel, and behave with regard to their own physical attributes
(Morrison , Kalin) If Group1, the group with little exposure to media, has a normal
body perception and doesn t desire a skinnier body image in contrast to Group 2.
Where Group 2, the group an immense exposure to media, has poor body perceptions
and desires a skinner body. The conclusion then can be made that the amount of
media exposure has an influence on body image and perception.
There are many challenges that can come up during research on the perfect body

27. We Must Reform Our Criminal Justice System Essay
Hillary Clinton said, We can do better. We can not ignore the inequalities that persist
in our justice system that undermine our most deeply held values of fairness and
equality. She was correct in her statement, we need to reform our criminal justice
system because it is highly lacking in fairness and equality. 2.38 million Americans
are in prison, with another five million on probation or parole. 1 in 31 adults in the
United States are in jail, prison, or on probation or parole. (Ferner) The populations
of our prison are increasing, while trust in law enforcers is declining, and if we want
to solve the inequalities we must reform parts of our criminal justice system. We
should reform our criminal justice system to fix the inequalities of mandatory
sentences, bail, and we should create reentry programs to help released inmates stay
crimefree.
In the past years we have seen many riots and debates over the racism and
inequalities in our criminal justice system. We have heard story after story, and
watched video after video of police brutality and racism in America. We saw the
unfair outcome of the Zimmerman and Treyvon Martin case. When George
Zimmerman followed Treyvon Martin, a seventeen year old African American boy
who was walking around the neighborhood, just because he looked suspicious to him.
Even after notifying the police, Zimmerman followed Martin and ended up shooting
him, after Zimmerman had hung up with the dispatcher who told him they did not

Uniqueness is a feat all on its own. Oftentimes, many feel as though they will be
judged or ostracized from society for being different from others. In Antigone, a play
written by Sophocles, the main protagonist encounters opposing forces that try to
cease her chances of morally accomplishing an honest and just deed. Antigone, the
main protagonist, is left to essentially fend for herself against the woes of society
and their beliefs. As Antigone refuses to comply, revelations are made about herself
and others that contribute to the morals and ethics of the conflicts made. Morality
plays a significant part in the play; it is emphasized greatly by Antigone as she
attempts to bury the body of her brother, Polyneices. She emphasizes her reasons

A mental illness is described as the alteration in one s behaviour or actions according
to their mental stability. For many people around the world, this so called illness, has

illness throughout the play. While portraying confused mindset and thoughts,

To continue, Hamlet s constant obsession to avenge his father allowed him to

These acts of aggression became evident when he killed Polonius. After performing
his play, Hamlet desires to speak the truth to the queen. As he attempts to explain, the

Oxides of non metals which act as acids
Non metals burn in air or oxygen to produce acidic oxides. The addition of water to

The oxides of nitrogen form naturally when lightning strikes cause nitrogen and

34. Big Brother Is Watching, And The Ministry Of Truth
While society today may be far from the controlling, deceitful, and corrupt atmosphere
described in 1984, many different inventions and innovations show that it could be
headed in that direction, or that it already contains concepts of it. The book describes
different familiar components such as a predominant Big Brother who is always
watching, newspeak , and the Ministry of Truth. These can be closely related to what
is seen in society today, with a controlling government, shortened words, and the
deceptive nature of the media through different radio and TV stations. A phrase very
often seen throughout the book is BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING . Through the
repetition of the statement, the audience is shown its importance and relevance in the
civilization that Winston lives in. Posters are found just about everywhere in Oceania
bearing this slogan. Big Brother s reach extends through the thought police, the
control over the disappearance of certain citizens, Telescreens, and the different
ministries present in their society. Big Brother is the most prominent influence in this
novel, controlling just about everything. This overseeing force of government
sounds strikingly familiar to the government of today s world. Everyday there are
new inventions surfacing that sacrifice privacy in exchange for a safer environment.
Similar to the Telescreens used by the thought police to watch citizens, facial

decades later, he liked to talk about coming back from the war, like other veterans,

Reagan s postwar acting career never regained the momentum it had enjoyed in the
early 1940s. He had some occasional successes (among them The Hasty Heart in

involvement grew with his marriage to Wyman, who was also an important figure in

39. Transcendentalism And Its Impact On Society
Margaret Fuller once said, Men for the sake of getting a living forget to live. In
today s society, a strong emphasis on material wealth exists, while the importance
of happiness is underrated. America as a whole is twice as wealthy as it was fifty
years ago, while the overall level of happiness has remained stagnant (Belic). Point in
case, society must remove this focus on wealth, which is causing many to lead
unfulfilled lives of quiet desperation. One can achieve a life of contentment by
applying the ideology of Transcendentalism. Concepts of Transcendentalism, such as
nonconformity, immersing oneself in nature, and spirituality, can guide an individual
to self fulfillment. Because of the prevalence of quiet desperation in industrialized
societies, Transcendentalism is a much needed movement.
In the early nineteenth century, the Transcendentalist movement blossomed.
Centered on Ralph Waldo Emerson, the movement was essentially a critique of what
their society had become. Through the industrial revolution, society moved its focus
to industries, material possessions and profit, ultimately distancing itself from nature.
Transcendentalists believed society was too quick to conform, and individuals did not
think as individuals. Transcendentalism encouraged people to find an original
relation to the universe. (Emerson 3), or their purpose in life, particularly through
nature. With the intention of finding a sense of belonging, Transcendentalists Henry

41. The Roman Empire And Republic
Since the Roman Empire and Republic and the Christian Roman Empire were set in
prolific time periods, they were powerful and cultured in their own standing. Society
between these two, conclusively was supported by each community. Respectably, the
following idea of society is comprised of religion, women, government, and rule. As
religion is at the center of every community, the Christian Roman Empireand Roman
Republic and Empire held fast to their beliefs. To be part of the Christian religion,
in the Christian Roman Empire, citizens simply were required to accept that Jesus
was God s son and that he died for our sins and rose from the dead. Yet, in the
Roman Empire, they believed in the several gods. Some, even from lands they
conquered, then changed the names of the god to fit into the Roman norm.
Regrettably, Christians were often accused of causing hardships to the Roman
Empire. The Emperor Decius enforced the rule that everyone must sacrifice to him,
but the Christians would not. Since, the Christians denied the Emperor Decius the
pleasure of having everyone sacrifice to him, hundreds of Christians were massacred.
Once Emperor Decius passed, the brutal killings subsided. Eventually, Constantine
allowed the free worship of Christianity. While the Christians believe that fate is
already decided, the pontiffs (priests) of the Roman Empire performed religious
rituals to make the gods do what they desired, such as: ensure victory in war, safe
childbirths, and bountiful

The ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle once identified the key ingredients of the
tragedies that his culture is so famous for. These ingredients include a character
with a fatal flaw, the realization of the fault for a particular problem and the final

excessive pride, which usually serves as the driving force of the play s action. It is
common, even beneficial, to have pride in oneself, but when it becomes expressed

severe wound to his pride, Oedipus stabbed out his eyes with broaches and walked
away from Thebes forever, thereby sealing his doom through further prideful actions.
The sudden reversal of fortune has Oedipus walking away from Thebes a blind,
homeless beggar rather than the respected king he should have been based upon his
more noble qualities. While this is a surprise, it is nevertheless a logical possible
conclusion to the events that have taken place. This concept is brought out to greater
extent in the film through the change in setting. Pasolini begins and ends the film in
a contemporary setting to when the film was made. While the play suggests that
Oedipus went wandering into the desert a self blinded beggar man, the film indicates
that he has been wandering a tortured individual for much longer than a normal
lifespan.
Thus, the elements of classic tragedy are carried throughout both play and film to
slightly different interpretations. In both, a fatal flaw within the character of Oedipus
drives his actions that eventually seal his own doom. Seen as it is throughout the
various elements of the classic tragedian format of first
43. The Musgrave Ritual Analysis
For Sherlock Holmes, solving mysteries is more than just a mindless hobby; to
Holmes, solving mysteries is a necessity to survive. In The Musgrave Ritual,
Watson describes that during stagnant periods of no mysteries, Holmes shoots
bullets into the walls to pass time, Holmes in one of his queer humours would sit in
an arm chair, with his hair trigger and a hundred Boxer cartridges, and proceed to
adorn the opposite wall with a patriotic V.R. done in bullet pocks (Doyle 227).
Holmes brain requires exercise and attention, without mysteries, he is overwhelmed
with anxiety and practically driven to the brink of insanity. Deduction and the
proficiency of his mind is second nature, in the first few seconds when Holmes lays
eyes on a person, he has compiled an intense investigative collection of assorted facts
about that said person. For... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead, he appears to seek the rewarding feeling that comes to him from simply
solving a mystery. In the Scandal in Bohemia, Holmes was not upset that he had
not brought Irene Adler to justice in the respect originally planned, but he was
upset at the fact that she had outsmarted him (Doyle 122). For Holmes, defeat had
been unheard of. Moreover, in The Speckled Band, Helen Stoner offers Holmes
money for his labors but he replies, as to reward, my profession is its reward
(Doyle 205) implying that he is not looking for money, but instead his next puzzle to
solve. Therefore, although he has the ability to collect monetary compensation, he is
simply in it for the puzzle. Furthermore, upon the death of Dr. Grimesby Roylott,
Holmes states, I am no doubt indirectly responsible for [his] death, and I cannot say
that it is likely to weigh very heavily upon my conscience (226). Although Holmes
had seemed fearful for Helen Stoner, the lack of emotion for Dr. Roylott shows he
was not interested in justice but the puzzle
44. Persuasive Essay On Aerophobia
Aggravating Aerophobia
Huge fires burning up the runway, thousands of people screaming and running for
their lives, but most of all the fear that you could have been one of them. Why
would you not be afraid of flying, also known as aerophobia, when 583 people died
in a single plane crash? On March 27,1977, plenty of us changed our minds about
flying in planes and helicopters when the biggest plane crash in history occurred on
the Los Rodeos Airport runway. Aerophobia affects umpteem people and could hold
you back from life s many adventures. If you are one of the millions of sufferers of
aerophobia, it may be helpful to know the origin, the causes of it, symptoms, and how
to overcome it.
Not the entire population knows what causes aerophobia, or even the origin of it,
which could be terribly unhelpful if you are trying to overcome it. Actually,
aerophobia could be from a countless number of other fears, either all combined
together or just a single one. These can include the fears of combined spaces and
heights. It can also be connected to any crashes, havoc, and other experiences you
have heard of or been involved in. One other cause may be if you have a certain
sickness, which would probably just embarrass you. Even if we can agree on what
causes it, the origin is not very clear. According to sources, the actual word was
first recorded from about 1765 1775. Later in time, near 1911, came the first known
use of aerophobia. All in all, the causes of aerophobia vary
45. Modest Mussorgsky
During the first half of the 19th century, opera was in it s golden age. Composers
sought to capture drama, emotion, and personalities, creating a closer connection
with their audience. With this, they also began to reflect on the concerns of a broad
audience; love and loyalty to family and/or nation, women s desire for independence,
struggle for freedom, fear of evil. This want to appeal to the population sparked the
theme of national identity, which came to be known as Nationalism. The French
Revolution and Napoleonic Wars helped spread the concept of a nation as a group of
citizens with a common heritage, rather than as subjects of a ruler. Influence of this
idea grew throughout the 19th century. Nationalism unified the people through...

Immigrants from Europe, Latin America, Asia, and former African American slaves
and their descendants, brought their own musical traditions from folk to classical.
Ethnic divisions were the distinctions between classical, popular, and folk music.
These three categories represented different attitudes toward notation, composition,
and performance. Classical tradition centered on the composer and the work, and
required intricate notation of the score. Popular music was written down and sold
as a commodity, but centered on the performer and the performance, allowing for
leeway in the notated music. Folk music was independent of musical notation,
being passed on through oral tradition. Overall, these three categories often
overlapped. Folk tunes were written down and sold as popular music, arranged for
concert performance, or incorporated into classical pieces; classical works were
transcribed and altered for performance in popular venues; and some popular songs
became so well known that they were then passed down orally, like folk
46. The Union And Its Impact On The United States
The Zollverein was a, customs union that abolished tariffs between all of the German
states with the exception of Austria. The roots for such a union began in 1818 when
a variety of smaller customs unions were created amongst the German states. These
smaller customs ultimately led to the Zollverein treaties of 1833, which in turn led to
the creation of the Zollverein on January 1, 1834. This union improved the
economies of the member states by stimulating the trade of those involved, as well as
the unification of one single currency. This also made Prussiastronger because as the
Zollverein gained more and more support, the middle class was able to gain the
majority power in the seats of Parliament, and were in position to assert... Show more

Yet, both sides decided to better prepare themselves for the war. Napoleon III,
nephew of Napoleon I, chose to take the time to improve their army in preparation.
As Bismarck; having the back loading, rifled, long range weaponry depicted in the
recorded lessons, chose to take this time to persuade the southern German states into
a fully unified Germany against the French. All each side needed was an excuse or
a reason to go to war with one another. Such a pretext seemed to present itself in a
decision made by a third party, Spain. In 1869, the Spanish parliament offered the
nephew of the King that appointed Otto von Bismarck, Prince Leopold, the Spanish
throne. Bismarck saw this as the opportunity he needed in order to go to war with
France because with Spain being the country that borders France on the Western side
of Europe, there would be a Prussian Monarchy on either side of France. Although, at
the request of France, Wilhelm I rescinded the decision to send his nephew to the
Spanish throne. Bismarck was not pleased by the decision as he saw that as his
opportunity to defeat France and unify the Germanic states into one full entity. France
however took this modest victory to the head and soon demanded in 1870 that King
Wilhelm I issue a document that renounce any and all future claims to the Spanish
throne, stating as well that any attempt to do so would result
47. Inheritance Of Loss By Kiran Desai
Inheritance of loss, is a moving novel by Indian writer Kiran Desai, whereby we see
the effect of colonialism and post colonialism and the consequence that comes with
it. Many critical themes are explored, Leach lists them as colonialism, a revolution,
multi ethnic nationhood and illegal immigration in the US, where political
allegiance impacts on love affairs, and where the reality of life in a grubby New
York basement reshapes the American Dream (2007). Desai mentions many of these
historical events in her novel that give us and insight view as to what was happening
on the inside, within the people of India, as opposed to only seeing the surface and
elections going on. Desai looks at the younger generation as being mainly affected by

The most unusual thing I ve learnt about the culture I studied were the
miscellaneous outdoor challenges that Boy Scouts participate in across the country.
One such example of this is the 50 Foot Rescue Relay. For this challenge, each
Scout must be able to coil and throw a rope and tie a bowline around their waist, in

49. The Difference Between Sex and Gender
In today s society sex and gender seem to have two separate connotative meanings.
Sex is a more scientific term that explains physical traits and sexual preferences.
Gender carries a more social tone. Meaning that it refers to the different clothing,
activities, career choices, and positions people hold in society. A person s social
status helps separate or classify the two sexes. br br Sex is the total sum of physical
characteristics that distinguish males and females from each other. The most
distinctive difference in characteristics is that man and women have different
reproductive organs. This is pretty obvious and so are other traits like facial hair,

With the rapid changes in gender equality it is not as easy to separate sex by what a
person does for a living. What position they hold in society or a household is not a
good indication either. Years ago I could have said that if a person is a police
officer, a soldier, a fireman, a politician, a lawyer, a doctor or any type of highly
paid professional than that person must be a man. Back then this would have been a
pretty good hypothesis. The father was the man of the house. The minister was
always male and there was no such thing as women in sports. br br I could have
probably also said that if a person was a secretary, a grade school teacher, a
receptionist, a nurse, a maid, or a homemaker then that person must be a woman.
People in the female group or gender worked lower paying less demanding jobs
because It was believed that a woman could not handle the pressures that a man s
job required. br br With the absence of the father figure in many American homes
women have taken over as head of the house. They juggle home life and work to
keep their families together so that they can properly raise their children. br br
Women have broken the gender barrier in almost every sport except for football and
hockey. Some women s sports are pretty interesting to watch. I like to look at women

S. C. Verma, (2000), explained about the linkage of talent acquisition management
and engagement with business strategy of the organization. In this context author has
stated that, historically, organizations have not treated the recruitment process as one
of strategic significance, but latterly many are now waking up to the reality that,
world has changed; and no more can the organization pick and choose between
several great candidates for one position. Author has observed that, several changes in
connected world have tipped the scales in favor of the highly talented individual
looking of a new opportunity. In the opinion of author, talent acquisition is part of a
broader strategic approach in the quest to gain and sustain a competitive advantage.
Other aspects include talent development and retention which are primarily inward
facing, whilst the former is outward looking. Author has concluded that, the
organizations are taking talent acquisition management and engagement as their
significant business strategy and even the employees are satisfied with the policies
and measures adopted by the organizations.

In the book The Housekeeper and the Professor by Yoko Ogawa is about a new
housekeeper who works for an ex mathematics Professor whose memory last only
eighty minutes due to a car accident in his past. In the book, one quote that speaks
to me about math is I realized that he talked about numbers whenever he was
unsure of what to say or do. Numbers were also his way of reaching out to the
world. They were safe, a source of comfort (Ogawa 7). This quote changed my
perspective about numbers because according to the book the Professor repeatedly
asked the same set of question to the new housekeeper, the narrator. Every morning
he would ask her what is her shoe size, telephone number, or perhaps zip code and
etc. With this idea, it made me realize... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How 28 changes my perspective about numbers is the recognition that there is such
thing as a perfect number. According to the book, a perfect number is when the
sum of the divisors equals itself. For example, the sum of the divisors of 28 is 28.
On the contrary, perfect numbers are rare like an amicable number because it does
not occur within most numbers. Other example of perfect numbers are 496, 8128,
33,550,336, 8,589,869,056, and etc. What makes these number mathematically
significant is that they are indeed rare as I mentioned before. Also, all perfect
numbers are even. Not only are they even but are opposite of the definition of what
is called abundant and deficient numbers. An abundant number is when the sum of
the divisors is greater like 18 whose divisors sum is equal to 21. When it is less it
is called a deficient number whose divisors sum like 14 is equal to 10. This shows
that numbers like 14 and 18 are no longer simple numbers. Directly it leads to the
uncovering of abundant and deficient numbers to the housekeeper. Not only did this
expand the knowledge of the housekeeper but formed a tighter relationship between
the housekeeper and the Professor because he was able to teach the housekeeper
different concept and terms in the field of mathematics. Abundant and deficient
numbers were terms the housekeeper never knew before she met the Professor.

The idea of critical success factors was initially presented in the 1960s by McKinsey
and Co s. D. Ronald Daniel, then further developed and promoted 10 years after, by

of Management.
Critical success factor (CSF) is an administration term for a component that is
fundamental for a project or an organization to accomplish its central goal. It is a
basic a critical factor or action required for guaranteeing the Success of an

has scaled its servers from the beginning and this has helped it keep track of the

Googleplex consisted of hundreds of servers. As of today the Googleplex is

Task 1 and task 3 have more than a few points which are mutual in which both are
reliant on each other. The most common links between the tasks lies in the similar
characteristics of the critical success factors with the connection to information
systems failure. Only if critical success factors are observed thoroughly inside an
