You have already chosen a topic and created a working thesis statement for your research paper topic. Find a non-profit organization (e.g., one that provides literacy instruction, a support group for cancer patients, a shelter that provides refuge for battered women) in your city that is connected to your topic. For example, if you are researching services for blind people, you might interview someone at the National Federation of the Blind.
Explain your assignment and request an interview with a staff member who is considered an expert in the field. Create 10 to 20 questions related to your thesis statement to ask the interviewee. For the writing assignment (Note that you should be conducting this interview yourself. You should not be summarizing an interview that someone else conducted):

The source you choose should be a credible periodical and not merely a random website. Also keep in mind that your chosen source should be research-based and non-fiction. The following assignments constitute a sequenced writing project for which you will write all five assignments on the same subject over the course of the semester. The idea of a series of assignments forming a sequenced writing project grows from the belief that students develop their writing skills best when each writing assignment they do can build quite directly on the experience and knowledge gained from completing the previous writing assignments.

The following assignments constitute a sequenced writing project for which you will write all five assignments on the same subject over the course of the semester. The idea of a series of assignments forming a sequenced writing project grows from the belief that students develop their writing skills best when each writing assignment they do can build quite directly on the experience and knowledge gained from completing the previous writing assignments.

· Make sure that when you turn in your paper, you have read through it in its final form. This may prove difficult to do after the many editing sessions that you have already enjoyed with it. It is often very helpful to have a friend read it through as well as this lends a fresh perspective.
Format
· Please double-space all your text. That way it is much easier for the instructor to annotate your work.
· Use 1” margins all round. Use 12 pt font. (or 14 font with 1.5 space).Number your pages.
· The final copy should be clean and neat.
Style
· Try to write in the third person whenever possible. For the most part you will be presenting facts. Although, for debate papers you will be arguing a certain point of view and it may therefore be appropriate to use “I” now and then, avoid repeated use of the first person.
· Avoid clichés. (“the bottom line”, “at the end of the day”, “all in all” etc.)
· Avoid slang and informal terms of expression. (“Well, …”, “It was like, we went…”)

Grammar and spelling
· Don’t rely on the spelling checker to find all your spelling errors. You must also read through you document to check that “their”, “there” and “they’re”, for example, are correctly used.
· Read and re-read your manuscript. Edit it more than once or twice. Avoid the repetitious use of the same word in a sentence or a paragraph. Edit away all redundancies. I do not want to read the same information over and over again, simply expressed in a slightly different way each time. Remove unnecessary words. Be clear and succinct.

· Cite articles by author(s) and year within your text. If there is a single author, the last name and year will suffice – e.g. (Hutchinson, 1995). If there are two authors, include both names and the year of the publication – e.g. (Hutchinson and Osborne, 1978). For more than two authors, use the first author with et al. – e.g. (Hutchinson et al., 1984).

In preparation for Essay 3 and by completing your textbook readings, you will be equipped to respond by objectively compiling information from a variety of sources to compose an essay that understands and practices reading, writing, and rhetoric within the context of a biblical worldview; applies methods of sound reasoning; produces well-structured essays; integrates sources accurately and effectively; writes with clarity; recognizes standard usage in English grammar, word choice (diction), phraseology, and sentence structure; and applies knowledge of sentence structure to basic sentence editing and revision (Syllabus MLOs: A, B, C, D, E, F, G and Module/Week 8 LOs: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5).
In Module/Week 7, you will write a thesis statement and outline for the cause and effect argument essay that you will write in the next module/week.
Develop an outline for your cause and effect argument essay that includes a clear thesis statement and a plan of support. Be sure to include all parts identified in “Structuring a Cause and Effect Argument” on pages 475–476 in your Practical Argument textbook. In addition, include at least 4 quotations, 1 summary,and 1 paraphrases into your essay from at least 3 outside sources to support your thesis statement and provide opposing argument(s). Be sure to document your sources correctly according to your documentation style (APA, MLA, or Turabian). Your outside sources can include scholarly sources and the Bible. (Note: Wikipedia is NOT an acceptable source for academic writing.)

· Make sure that when you turn in your paper, you have read through it in its final form. This may prove difficult to do after the many editing sessions that you have already enjoyed with it. It is often very helpful to have a friend read it through as well as this lends a fresh perspective.
Format
· Please double-space all your text. That way it is much easier for the instructor to annotate your work.
· Use 1” margins all round. Use 12 pt font. (or 14 font with 1.5 space).Number your pages.
· The final copy should be clean and neat.
Style
· Try to write in the third person whenever possible. For the most part you will be presenting facts. Although, for debate papers you will be arguing a certain point of view and it may therefore be appropriate to use “I” now and then, avoid repeated use of the first person.
· Avoid clichés. (“the bottom line”, “at the end of the day”, “all in all” etc.)
· Avoid slang and informal terms of expression. (“Well, …”, “It was like, we went…”)
· Avoid rhetoric. (“How should I interpret these results?”, “I asked myself - What do people think about global warming?”)
· When you use equations in your paper, make sure that every symbol in the equation is explained. Number equations sequentially for easy referencing.
Grammar and spelling
· Don’t rely on the spelling checker to find all your spelling errors. You must also read through you document to check that “their”, “there” and “they’re”, for example, are correctly used.
· Read and re-read your manuscript. Edit it more than once or twice. Avoid the repetitious use of the same word in a sentence or a paragraph. Edit away all redundancies. I do not want to read the same information over and over again, simply expressed in a slightly different way each time. Remove unnecessary words. Be clear and succinct.
References
· Cite articles by author(s) and year within your text. If there is a single author, the last name and year will suffice – e.g. (Hutchinson, 1995). If there are two authors, include both names and the year of the publication – e.g. (Hutchinson and Osborne, 1978). For more than two authors, use the first author with et al. – e.g. (Hutchinson et al., 1984).
· Include the list of references at the end of your paper. Do not include references you have read but not cited. List the references alphabetically by the first author’s last name.

literally thousands of "leadership experts" have
made careers of testing and coaching executives, all

Still, effective leadership eludes many people and

The aging process is associated with many biological, physiological, environmental, psychological, behavioral, and physical processes. These changes often result in several complex health conditions dubbed geriatric syndromes. Most cells have a short life span and are easily regenerated and replaced by new cells in the human body. On the other hand, nerve cells are generated in vivo, have a longer life span, and are usually not replaced when they die or are destroyed.
Several changes occur in the central nervous system. Firstly, nerve cells and supporting neuroglia are gradually lost with age. On the other hand, the remaining cells function less efficiently, and there is an increased concentration of harmful materials such as free radicals and iron in the remaining brain tissue (Knight & Nigam, 2017). Secondly, there is a decrease in brain mass leading to decreased function of affected areas such as the cerebral cortex, hippocampus, and motor cortex, manifesting as impairments in higher functions, memory loss, and gait. Thirdly, the ventricles increase in size and due to the loss of cells lining the ventricles. Fourthly, there is a decrease in cerebral blood flow and diminished integrity of the blood-brain barrier over time. There is also a decline in the production of neurotransmitters. Lastly, age-related changes to the vertebrae and intervertebral discs may increase pressure on the spinal cord and its branching nerve roots. This can slow down nerve impulses' conduction along motor neurons, contributing to reduced muscular strength (Manini et al., 2013).
There is a slowed nerve conduction in the peripheral nervous system attributed to decreased axonal length, loss of mitochondria, and degeneration of peripheral neurons' myelin sheath. This may result in decreased sensation, slower reflexes, and clumsiness. On top of that, damaged neurons are not repaired efficiently in older adults, and some are not repaired at all.
The decrease in brain function with aging may impair mental function seen in neurodegenerative conditions such as delirium and dementia. Delirium is defined as an acute confusional state characterized by an acute decline in attention-focus, perception, cognition, and consciousness. In contrast, dementia is an acquired global impairment of intellect, memory, and personality but without impaired consciousness.
The two conditions are similar in that they exhibit similarities in their presentation: impaired memory and judgment, confusion, disorientation, and varia.

Epicurus begins his exposition of hedonism with a particular cosmology—that is, with a comprehensive and rational account of the ultimate nature of the cosmos, or universe. The cosmology we speak of is called atomism, which comes from the ancient Greek word atomos, meaning “uncuttable” or “indivisible.” According to atomism, the universe (and everything in it) is composed of an infinite number of atoms combining and separating in the infinite void. Atoms are the most basic building blocks of reality. They are eternal—they are neither created nor can they ever be destroyed. Thus it makes no sense to ask “where did the atoms come from?” or “why does anything exist at all?” Atoms do not come from anywhere, since they have always existed and always will exist.
Epicurus believes that atomism is the most common-sense approach to understanding reality. The fact that there are only material things, or bodies, is confirmed by the experience of all men. It impossible, he says, to even conceive of anything besides bodies and the empty space (void) through which those bodies move. Now it is true that many people believe in incorporeal (i.e., non-bodily) souls, not to mention angels and gods. But Epicurus finds this belief rather silly, since our senses do not allow us to perceive anything that is not a body. In fact, even when we try to imagine angels and gods, we invest them with a human shape or form, as if they were some kind of spiritual body, which is a contradiction in terms (because to be a real, existing being, it must have the power of acting and being acted upon, and only corporeal beings are capable of this). No, says Epicurus, the only real beings are material things. (From this observation he makes the logical deduction that if you divide bodies into halves you will at some point reach a body that is so simple that it can no longer be divided into anything smaller—this is the atom.) We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Introduction to Quality Improvement Essentials
This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.
