There Are No Mountains Like The Himalaya Essay
There are no mountains like the Himalaya for in them are Kailash and Manasarovar. As the dew is
dried up by the morning sun, so are the sins of mankind by the sight of the Himachal. The Ramayana
saga
Nothing has given humankind a bigger sense of divinity than mountains and no place can make you
more aware of their power than the Himalaya. Beyond their sight, which may change your life; when
you walk the crowded city streets, get into temples or hotels throughout Asia, you are unwittingly
seeing mountains and finding hidden messages about them. Such is the influence of the Himalaya, that
they are at the very core of Asian religions and shaped Asian cosmology, ... Show more content on

I grew up surrounded by amazing mountains, but Canary Islanders belong to a culture much more
related to the sea. I was lucky to study Indology before going to Nepal and for years I longed for that
country and only when I came back I saw mine and loved them. But what happens to those who
remained insensitive to the Himalaya and blind to the hidden messages? Well, there is hope if they
traveled close to the people who have been constantly exposed to them. The ones who not only made
them into food and eat them, turned into speech and chant them or stepped into them but who also
climb and live from the mountains; the Sherpa.
The ones who burn juniper as an offering to the mountains not only before the climbing but as long as
anyone remains up there. Beyond worship, this is an exercise on caring about others. After the
earthquake in 2015 people on Everest described everybody crouching down helplessly on the
mountain while the earth was shaking. They listened not only to its roaring but also the loud mantras
the Sherpa were chanting to appease the mountain. Their beliefs and way of life are made of all these
stories and rituals, and the biggest gain for the ones who travel there is this sacramental way of

Abby Wambach s Role In Baseball
When one thinks of the face of United States Soccer, Landon Donovan always came to mind,
however, the true face of the game in the U.S., Abby Wambach, is calling it a career after her final
game in New Orleans against China Wednesday night. Over her career with the National team she
scored 184 goals. That is the most in international competition, according to USA Today. The 35 year
old has carried the U.S. Women s National Team for a long time, and until recently, was the clear
threat to score at anytime. However, she knows that it is time to move aside and let the next group of
players carry on what she has built. Just like she did after Mia Hamm retired from the sport. Wambach
has seen more success than any other U.S. soccer player, with ... Show more content on

Nike pulled her teammates together for a video goodbye and it is expected that tonights game will be
emotional and be a special send off for one of the sports most famous players. Abby Wambach is not
going to retire and call it a good life. She is already to start on the next chapter of her life. She is
focused on becoming an advocate for greater equality. Women in both sports and the workplace, and
minority groups find limited opportunities, and she wants to change that. She said U.S. soccer has
been great, one of the few leaders out there, but the fact that women in general make less money and
have fewer opportunities must change. She is going to work to male that change happen. If Wambach
has even half the success in the next part of her career as she did on the soccer pitch, the world had
better watch out, because change is coming. While this will be a great addition for equality, soccer will
likely never see another Wambach. Her final game will kick off at 8:30 p.m. Eastern on Fox Sports 1.
Soccer fans, join CDA News in thanking Abby Wambach for her contributions to soccer and wish her
luck in her next chapter. Leave your messages in the comments box

Coming Of Age In Sparta
Brayden Drury
Coming of age can mean many different things for various cultures. Coming of age is the process of
maturing or entering into adulthood. Most cultures and religions have specific events, ceremonies, or
celebrations associated with coming of age. For a boy in ancient Sparta, coming of age includes many
spiritual, physical, intellectual, and emotional elements to overcome.
Coming of age in Sparta started moments after birth. The second a Spartan child was born, they were
tested to make sure they embodied the perfect image of a Spartan soldier. They tested children by
dipping them into a bath of wine to test their strength and determination. Spartans believed that a
weak child would convulse and die. If the child passed, they were then taken to a group of elders. If
the Elders found the child deficient in any way they would be left on the sides of Mount Taygetos to
die.
Spartan boys continued to get closer to coming of age their whole life. For example, at age eighteen,
the formal education aspect of the Agoge ended. The Agoge were a set of coming of age schools that
were designed to make the children mentally perfect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

age of 30. If a man married a woman before the age of 30, they were not permitted to live together
until the man reached the age of 30. This is the age when Spartan men were permitted to live on their
own. The only way a man was able to see his wife was to sneak out at night. When a man and woman
were married before the age of 30, women would shave themself bald and dress as a man in order to
sneak into the military compound with her husband. At the age of 30, a man was finally allowed own a

Beach Erosion in Southern California
Beach erosion is a serious issue today especially with human civilization building cities near the coast
and disrupting the natural distribution of sediment deposition for our own convenience. Especially in
southern California, beach erosion has some serious social, economic and environmental impacts on
our society as a whole. Along with the rise of our sea levels due to global warming melting our polar
ice caps, this erosion is having profound effects on coastal societies and has damaging effects on
infrastructure worldwide. With human ingenuity, we have come up with various methods such as hard
and soft engineering in order to both prevent and mitigate the effects of beach erosion.
Introduction
There are 2 types of beaches. One is erosion dominant and the other is deposition dominant. The
erosion dominant one has more erosion than deposition so the beaches shrink.
In the other case, if there is more deposition than erosion, then the beaches grow due to more sand
being deposited upon it. The only reason why beaches shrink is due to erosion and this can happen for
a variety of reasons. One reason being that if a shore tends to receive more destructive waves than
constructive waves, then the beach will erode over time. This is because destructive waves erode and
constructive waves deposit sediment. A very relevant example is that the beaches in southern
California are naturally shrinking right now because they aren t receiving enough sediment from the

How To Achieve Maximum Recovery
In order to achieve maximum recovery, you have to choose your rehabilitation services carefully, and
you should choose a program that meets the needs of the individual. Second, the family should play a
vital role in helping with the rehabilitation process. Recovery is an ongoing and active process that
requires solid and informed decisions. Because of healthcare that operates on a fee for services model,
you have to understand how a plan will work. As a persons seeking treatment for brain injury, you will
have to pass through gatekeepers and accumulate referrals. If your care has been denied, you will have
to file for an appeal. An informed consumer will make the best choice, and following these principles
will guide you through the process. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

War Is Kind Meaning
One of the most ironic poems is War is Kind . The title is ironic since war is not kind. Point for them
the virtue of slaughter,/Make plain to them the excellence of killing/And a field where a thousand
corpses lie (War is kind 20 22) Virtue is suppose to be this pure, innocent thing. It s not supposed to be
slaughtering something. How is a a field where a thousand corpses lie kind nobody would ever want
that. War is Kind shows structure in the way it is written. The way it is written is it, talks about the
people who have to suffer when their loved one go to war. The maiden with her husband, the baby
with their father, and the mother whose son went in to the war. Then in between the people, he talks
about war, the field where a thousand

A Brief Note On Physician Assisted Suicide ( Pas )
Physician assisted suicide (PAS) has fueled a lot of debate ever since it was first legalized in Oregon
in 1997. PAS is when a doctor prescribes a medication that the patient can use to end their life.
Washington legalized PAS in March of 2009, but only saw 255 individuals in 2012 who acquired the
medication necessary to end their life from their doctor, resulting in only 24 of those patients using the
prescription (McBride 45). It is debatable whether or not PAS should be seen as the equivalent to the
suicide that we have labeled as immoral and have tried to prevent while others also question whether
PAS is a reasonable solution to the suffering that terminally ill patients are inevitably being put
through. I believe PAS should not be legalized in any other state and should, therefore, become illegal
in the four states which now allow it and instead train their doctors to provide better palliative care for
their patients. To begin, individuals who agree with PAS support their argument by focusing on the
suffering that the patient would no longer have to go through. Supporters have called it the right to die
movement and are concentrating on informing the public that people who are suffering due to their
terminal illness have the right to die and would have, what they have deemed as, a death with dignity
(Lachman 121). PAS has gained names which reflect it in a positive light such as right to die, good
death, rational suicide, aid in dying, and merciful release

Family Mediation And Conflict Resolution Essay
Through a series of lectures, class discussions, reading and research, the objectives of this course
included in depth examining of the family mediation and conflict resolution process and techniques.
The student endeavored on an educational journey to study mediation within the context of families as
a means of resolving conflicts without resort to adversarial means such as litigation. Focus and
attention was given to family dynamics, child development, the Texas Family Code, family violence,
and facilitating of communication and dispute resolution. The components and benefits of family
mediation and conflict resolution were introduced and thoroughly discussed. Through the reading of

As previously mentioned, unfortunately one of the many issues that one sees in life is conflict.
Conflict is an inevitable part of life. But when conflict is present and tension is high, those involved
begin to vibrate and the result, which is conflict, can be ugly and damaging with long lasting effects.
When people are anxious keeping calm, remaining friendly and using reason to tackle the issues at
hand can be a very challenging thing to do. Being anxious and trying to resolve the conflict to
everyone s satisfaction is always a task. The ultimate goal however is to achieve a win win situation
for all involved. Thus, mediation and conflict resolution is significantly important to all stakeholders.
In this reflection, the student will examine the use of system s thinking and self differentiation as a
means to successful and productive family mediation and conflict resolution.
In an anxious situation or during the time of conflict the most valuable thing one can do is remain in
control of one s own emotions. It is always important to remember that one cannot change anyone
else; the only person that one can change is self. This can be incredibly difficult, particularly if one
thinks the other party or people involved are being rude, thoughtless, unfair, and/or insensitive. But it
is vital that one keeps cool, manage anxiety, and not meet anger

Personal Statement For Traveling The World
Business. Travelling the world. My dream. As young child, I have always been passionate about
business and travelling the world. I would love to study International Business with Management at
University. By being able to study International Business at University, I will be able to manage a
business and also work in locations all across the globe. During my journey throughout high school, I
dreamed of opening my own business, managing it myself and always had a natural talent of having
great knowledge about business and business management. I display leadership skills and by doing
management with this course, I can manage my own business or even manage it for others. This
course is perfect for me as I have a hobby of travelling as I have travelled to America, Singapore,
India, Italy, Switzerland, Germany and France. All throughout my travels there, I would always see
different business types and almost the same management styles, and that made me think, what if
there is a theory behind this? During A level, I learnt the different theories such as Taylorism.
Throughout my younger years, I learnt the language of Punjabi and in year 7, I took my GCSE and
achieved a grade B. I also started to learn the language of German for 4 years but stopped before
GCSE as I chose to study my favourite subject, business studies. I am passionate about business

America s Acceptance Of Interracial Marriages
Are you tired of hearing, you should love, date, and marry within your own kind? I mean c mon
people. It s been decades even centuries and it seems like society s acceptance of interracial marriages
is still very much frown upon. Since my arrival here in the United States, in the early 80s till even
now, I have been told, by my parents, aunts, uncles, and relatives, to stay away from other ethnic
groups because they don t understand our people, our language, our tradition, and our way of life. I
would argue that we no longer live in Laos and we need to limit ourselves to old traditions or
superstitions. That there are some many benefits, in America, to marrying someone of another race
and culture. Some of the main benefits would be to break the racial barriers of discrimination, lessen
hate crimes, and create a safer environment for our children, whether of mixed cultures or not.
Firstly, it has been throughout history that interracial marriages are unacceptable or even illegal for
two people of a different race to marry. A tradition that has been around for centuries until in 1958 the
case of, Loving v. Virginia, two Virginia natives Richard Loving, a white man and Mildred Jeter, a
black woman got married in the District of Columbia and returned home soon after the wedding,
Virginia declared that they violated the state s anti miscegenation statute and was sentenced to a year
in jail or leave the state and not return for 25 years (Loving). On June 12, 1967, the United

This journal chosen is Cultural Relativist and Feminist Critiques of International Human Rights
Friends or Foes? By Oonagh Reitman (1997) discuss about the similarities between two critiques of
international human rights, Cultural Relativist and Feminist. The journal highlights comparing the
Cultural Relativist and Feminist of Human Rights. In further, we can see these critiques, the Cultural

In the cultural relativist critique, the critique is made of the claim that human rights are universal, that
human rights are those held simply by virtue of being human and whose substance, form and

Divided Attention In A Football Game
Sitting in a stadium watching a football game requires being able to focus attention on the game while
distractions interfere with your focus. Our visual surroundings typically include a multitude of objects
that differ in their location, shapes and constituent features. Specific objects may be selected for
detailed examination and perceptual enhancement by directing attention to their locations or their
identifying features (Schoenfield, Hopf, Merkel, Heinze, Hillyard, 2014). At a football game there is a
lot going on that requires divided attention which is the distribution of attention among two or more

Reconstruction Failure
The Failure of Reconstruction Reconstruction in American society after the Civil War, which claimed
many lives and displaced numerous families, was a period of integration of the Freedmen into the
society by granting them their political and civil rights. However, one may ask, did reconstruction fail
or succeed due to the high rate of racism at that period? According to Historian Steven Hahn,
Reconstruction failed when Freedmen lost their military support of the North which increased the rate
of violence towards the freedmen. Also, David Blight a Historian argues that reconstruction failed as a
result of the high rate of racism and the injustice in the American society against the African American
at that time. I agree with Hahn and Blight that, Reconstruction failed as a result of lack of injustice and
racism against the African American, because the Freedmen were still being persecuted, had no equal
rights to vote or own businesses like their white counterparts and also lacks the basic support of their
Government. The Government s support and protection for the African American was vital for the
Reconstruction movement to have succeeded, Although, the Radical Reconstruction made a
tremendous effort to see that reconstruction movement was a success. However, with the compromise
of the 1877, the withdrawal of the federal troops and high rate of racism towards

Should College Athletes Have Unrestricted Freedom
1. Should athletes have unrestricted freedom of speech on social media sites? Why or why not?
I do not believe that athletes should have unrestricted freedom of speech on social media. I understand
that as an 18 22 year old, you are considered an adult. You can make your own decisions on what you
would want to post or not post. However, these students are now not only representing themselves, but
also the university and their basketball program. If a student athlete posts something like Buck
Burnette did on Facebook about President Obama, the repercussions are headed to the university as
well as the student. Although they are adults, college students are not as matured yet so keeping some
restriction is understandable. Also, it could help ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What ethical duties should college athletes think about while they are using social media? Are these

As a college athlete, there are definitely ethical duties that must be held regarding social media that
non athletes do not have to follow by. As a student athlete, you are being watched by so many people,
and you are a key representative for the university and the city you are in. The children, adults, and
possible future recruits are following these college athletes on social media and are role models for
these individuals. As a college athlete you are under a microscope and it is their responsibility to make
sure not to do anything inappropriate. As a non athlete, you do not have those responsibilities as well

disobeying the law. The Socs were wealthier and had a higher social status. We get jumped by the

We re sophisticated cool to the point of not feeling anything. Nothing is real with us (Hinton 33). The

these subjects and more, I have decided to do my final on social inequality and minorities in the
United States. I chose this particular topic because I have seen this in almost every place have lived. I
find it appalling that minorities are still not treated 100% equal. We as Americans know what
inequality is and know how it is used in our everyday society. I want to explore this topic and show

They have had to deal with numerous inequalities throughout time. After slavery they were not given
equal rights. There were many rights rallies and according to the statistics, they are still not receiving
equal pay. There used to be restaurants that would not serve a person of color and they were even told
they could only sit in the back of buses. Though we have overcome most of this we have not
overcome hate crimes. Every group has encountered unequal or cruel treatment based on nothing more
than a characteristic about them. Though the hate crime rate had dropped in 2007 there was a rise of
anti gay crime. Now with the new election the hate crime rate has risen again. This shows the problem
is not diminishing and that we need to find a way to get this under control. Criminal justice is another
area of social inequality for minorities in the U.S. Getting a fair trial is difficult is one is accused of a
crime that is a stereotype. If a minority is accused of rape, murder, theft, assault, or many other crimes,
it may be hard to get a fair trial if the jury basis the evidence against stereotypes. Another aspect to
this is that minorities are not given as many options as others. If they are in lower income areas, have
less education or just less options general their chances of living a life of crime is high. Our human

Rogers Center Case Study
Toronto Blue Jays need to revitalize the old and outdated Rogers Centre to bring a greater positive
atmosphere for new and die hard fans. The current state for the Rogers Centre doesn t have the
baseball atmosphere it once had when it first opened. Fans criticise about the stadium, but have no
objections to the location of the stadium. The Toronto Argonauts also play at the Rogers Centre which
diminishes the Blue Jays exclusivity to the stadium. In order to attract the young demographic and
maintain current fans, the Rogers Centre needs major renovations and to be exclusive to the Toronto
Blue Jays. The revitalization of the Rogers Centre will include aspects of the field, seating, suites, and
more. Currently, the Toronto Blue Jays play on artificial grass also known as turf. This is ... Show

This simple yet complexed process will give Rogers Centre an authentic feel for a more realistic
baseball game. It will help create an atmosphere of baseball in the old days. Furthermore, the grass
won t be ruined or removed due to other events held at Rogers Centre. At times when the Blue Jays
aren t playing, there can be a protective cover or safety shield to protect the grass from any damages.
The implementation of real grass will require significant capital to change and maintain the grass. For
example, the grass itself is costly and one the main reasons many stadiums prefer turf. Moreover, the
reengineering of the stadium to handle real grass will be costly as well. Also, the cost of an irrigation
system, artificial lighting, and a retrofit (funnel humidity that comes off grass) are the additional

Contradictions in Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales Essay
Contradictions in Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales There is no question that contradictory values make
up a major component of The Canterbury Tales. Fate vs. Fortuna, knowledge vs. experience and love
vs. hate all embody Chaucer s famous work. These contrasting themes are an integral part of the
complexity and sophistication of the book, as they provide for an ironic dichotomy to the creative plot
development and undermine the superficial assumptions that might be made. The combination of
completely contradictory motifs leads to the unusual stories and outcomes that come to play out in the
tales. And these outcomes draw focus on the larger universal issues that in many cases transcend the
boundaries of vernacular periods to all of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the debate, a number of different options have emerged. Some, like medieval author Paul Ruggiers,
argue that it is impossible to determine the Prioress?s attitude and that, ?we must be satisfied with
ambiguity.? Others like writer Victoria Wickham argue the most popular belief, that the Prioress?s
bigotry is without question and readers should be more concerned about the degree rather than the fact
itself. But there is another possibility. Edwards and Spector, two prominent medieval scholars, put
aside the issue of racism temporarily and instead offer an alternative interpretation on the very nature
of Chaucer?s love hate contradiction in the Prioress?s tale. They argue that the love vs. hate
contradiction is not dependent on outside forces, but is actually an internal conflict within the Prioress
herself. Consequently, the individuals and subsequent groups in her tale are not specific characters but
culturally influenced manifestations representing separate issues. In this way her personality becomes
the allegory of her tale, making specific references within her story irrelevant to her true attitude. In
this writer?s opinion, popular attitudes on the nature of the love hate contradiction in the Prioress?s
tale are wrong; Edwards and Stevens help prove this. Rather than considering the most obvious stand
alone factors of love and hate in the story, specifically the description of the Prioress and her affinity
for Christianity vs. the evil

What Role Do Relationships Play In Shaping A Person s...
Identity is a critical aspect of the growth and development in human beings. It is defined as a
condition or character as to who a person or what a thing is; the qualities that distinguish or identify a
person. Identity influenced by relationships is when the people one associates themselves with shape
their identity. Researchers posited that it is important to recognize the process of exploring and
making commitments in interpersonal relationships is four domains: friendship, dating, sex roles, and
recreation. Relationships with friends, parents, and partners help influence an identity in a person.
They each have a specific time where one is more important than the other. Each one shapes the
person s identity, it could be for the better or for the worst. Parents are the first influence that a child
has, then peers/friends become more important, and lastly partners help finish off shaping the person s
identity. They each have a role in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Peers have a major role in shaping a person s identity. Children tend to have a similar identity as their
peers. Similarity among friends. Strong correlations were found. If a friend is doing something it
makes the child feel pressured into doing it to. Adolescents tend to rebel against their parents in their
teen years and that s when peers become a huge influence on shaping the teen s identity. For example
if a persons friends are doing drugs he or she may feel peer pressured. Peer pressure is influence from
members of one s peer group. If his or her friends do good things, for example, pick up trash or treat
others with respect it helps the adolescent to not liter and pick up after themselves and treat people
with respect. A lot of adolescents feel peer pressure every day if they are not fitting in with the right
peer group. Peers could shape the teens identity into a good one or a bad one depending on their

Natural Selection Is The Outcome Of Inheritance, Variance,...
Natural selection is the outcome of inheritance, variance, and differential reproduction and can operate
at many if not all levels of the taxonomic hierarchy (Bergstrom Dugatkin, 2012). If the level meets the
requirements of natural selection, it may be acted upon. Natural selection can vary in the force of
selection between each level in the hierarchy and depends highly on the amount of units within the
level. The higher the taxonomic level the less units, less variation and multiplication that is found. The
levels in which natural selection operates and the strength of its force will be discussed moving down
the hierarchy of genes, cells, individuals, populations composed of closely related kin, and groups of

Most diploid species maintain a one to one sex ratio because it is evolutionarily stable (Fisher, 1930).
However, when population ratios do not fit the Fisherian sex ratio of one to one, selection will favor
the gene/allele that is in limited supply until their frequency is greater or equal to the competing gene
(Fisher, 1930). Therefore, selection works at the level of the gene in maintaining evolutionarily stable
Fisherian sex ratios. Not only does natural selection operate at the level of the gene, it has also been
found to operate at the level of the cell. Since different cell types within an individual have different
rates of division, the morphology of organisms results from selection at the level of the cell
(Lewontin, 1970). Natural selection is a strong force at the cellular level due to high levels of variation
and therefore multiplication, and heredity which favors the cell lineages that are better adapted to
leaving behind descendent cells (Smith, 1987). An example of natural selection operating at the level
of the cell is shown by clonal selection theory of immunity where normal tissue repair and neoplastic
growth are results of natural selection at the cellular level (Lewonith, 1970). Normal tissue repair
occurs as a response to destruction of tissue, where certain cell types reproduce faster than normal in
order to repair the tissue, then returns to a normal rate after repair (Lewonith, 1970).

Underage Drinking Alcohol
Drinking Alcohol Should Be Banned On Young People
Underage drinking alcohol contributes to the death of approximately 5,000 people every year the

Much Ado About Nothing Deception
In the works Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare and A Doll s House by Henrik Ibsen,
the main characters are deceived within the reliable relationships they created in society. Such
deception occurs when Claudio s trust in his friends and family interferes with his marriage to Hero.
Similarly, when Nora deceives Torvald by hiding the truth and putting too much trust in her friends.
These two events symbolize the similarities of the works and represent a connection of mistrust. The
connection between the characters within the two plays demonstrates the tragedies that occur
throughout the plot of the story. The concept of deception connects the roles of the main characters as
they face consequences as represented in both works by creating relationships and trust within their
societies. Deception plays a critical role between Nora and Torvald s society in A Doll s House. As
these two characters evolve within the work, trust starts to fade and mistrust starts to appear as seen

1960s Social Culture
There has been many times in history where social culture has changed. In fact, social culture is
always changing. In the early 1900s to the 1920s, many social changes came into play. The
automobile became more and more accessible and convenient as roads were paved. Fashion had
changed from layers upon layers and the idea of modesty for women to the bold, daring flapper girl
and men wearing suits. After World War II, another social change; furthermore, one to remember
occurred the baby boom. A new generation was born full of new ideas of fashion, diet, lifestyle, and
taste in music. This is the generation that would soon become familiar with the famous quote of
Timothy Leary, Tune out, turn on, and drop out. This is also the generation that completely
disregarded their parent s traditional beliefs and became members of an era of intense individualism
where eccentricity was popular. This eccentricity included the use of Marijuana and psychedelic
drugs, vegetarianism diets, birth control, stand out fashion, and a new taste in music. Many of ... Show

Essay on The Poor Law
The Poor Law
The Poor Law was a system established since the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, about two hundred years
before the Poor Law Amendment Act of 1834. In this system the able bodied poor should be set to
work, whilst the others had to be provided for by their parish of birth. By 1795 when the whole system
was under strain, an attempted solution was the Speenhamland system also know as the allowance
system that was devised in 1795. This was devised to relieve the acute distress of the poor by giving
money to families calculated according to the number of children and the price of bread.
As the Poor Law was becoming increasingly costly throughout the years, there had to be change in

It was obvious that the same new measures were needed primarily to save money on the rates but also
possibly to tackle the causes of poverty. No solution appeared other than the complete abolishment of
the poor allowance, which few wanted. Under the allowance system, one could work and receive
outdoor relief in the form of cash payments as long as you resided in the parish of your birth. This
system was said to encourage laziness as the poor would have no incentive to work hard or to respect
their employers as they knew that their parish would look after them. The allowance system was
regarded by the ruling class as an unmitigated evil . Payment of allowances was thought to encourage
reckless breeding and immorality and the inflated poor rates were a grievance burden on agriculture,
hindering investment and enterprises, crushing the small tenant or freeholder. Farmers no longer had
to pay their labourers decent wages when they could get relief from the parish.
The administration of the Poor relief and contracts for Poor Law work for supplying food, were
awarded to local tradesmen rather than put to open tender. Overseers were the ones who would
determine who was deserving and who was undeserving . But concerned ratepayers suggested that
these two sections were one way in which vested interests were exploiting the system. This led to
criticisms towards these as it was believed that

Family In The Family Of A Tiwa Family
Family fosters community s solidarity
Amongst the Tiwa community of Assam family plays the crucial role while constructing an
idiosyncratic social as well as cultural system. Customarily Tiwas inhabiting at hills cling to
matrilineal descent, inheritance and matrilocal residence. Since family is the basic institution of any
society, thus the real essence of that society can actually be realised through the observation of the
system followed by the families. Tiwas believe the relationship of the siblings specially between the
brother and sister is most significant, thus the bond is acknowledged through maternal line. A
traditional Tiwa family deals with huge affairs. They generally follow joint family system. A family is
not just a household under a head consisting of some countable members related to each other through

The Argentinian Economic Crisis ( 2001-2002 )
The Argentinian Economic Crisis (2001 2002)
INTRODUTION
In what is considered as one of the worst crisis for a nation, Argentina has suffered significantly over
the years and was caught yet again by a financial crisis in 2001. Over the short period of 1998 to 2001,
the Argentine economy has lost almost 20 percent of its GDP (Figure 1) while the poverty has risen to
an astonishing 42.3% percent (2001) from an already high figure of 18.2% in 1998 (Weisbrot and
Sandoval).

This financial crisis was not a sudden event; in fact this crisis has its roots dug deep into the long
history of a turbulent Argentine economy. In terms of growth, in the early twentieth centaury,
Argentina could boast of outperforming most Latin American nations. More over, as The Economist
reports, by 1913 Argentina was among the world s ten richest countries, ahead of even France and
Germany, with an annual average growth of 5% every year over the previous three decades. However,
after the First World War, the Argentine economy faced a steep decline and by 1989 the country s
inflation rate went soaring high (Figure 2)

it lies within outside influences. As the number of possible diagnosable mental disorders increases, so
does the amount of mentally ill Americans. Pathologizing the normal and increased pharmaceutical
use has led to widespread increase of incorrect mental illness diagnosis. The Diagnostic and Statistical

To this day no scientific tests have been done to support the existence of ADHD. As it stands the
diagnostic criteria for Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder are essentially reflective of normal
childhood behavior. The behaviors that someone needs to elicit in order to be categorized with
attention deficit hyperactive disorder, include behaviors such as: often has difficulties organizing tasks
and activities ; often avoids, dislikes, or is reluctant to engage in tasks that require sustained mental
effort ; often loses things necessary for tasks or activities ; is often on the go ; often talks excessively ;
and often interrupts or intrudes on others (American Psychiatric Association, 2014). These criteria for
ADHD are found in most children but not all children have Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder.
The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders has taken normal behaviors of a child and
reclassified them to be characterized into a disorder. If psychiatry was against pathologizing normal
behavior then disorders like ADHD which are essentially just descriptions of normal childhood
behavior would be eliminated. Children would therefore be put on medication less often and therefore
would lead to less serious disorders based off of the findings of Whitaker. Attention Deficit
Hyperactive Disorder is

Embryonic Stem Cell Research And Ethics
Introduction Stem cell research and engineering is a widely disputed topic that often divides people in
science, ethics, and religion. In order to fully understand the controversy surrounding this area of
scientific research and discovery, one must be informed as to what stem cells are. In the article,
Human Embryonic Stem Cells: Research, Ethics and Policy , stem cells are described as primitive
cells with the capacity to divide and give rise to more identical stem cells or to specialize and from
specific cells of somatic tissues (Wert 672). Essentially, stem cells can potentially provide an
unlimited supply of cells that could form some or all body cells. This ability to transform into different
types or all types of cells depends of the type of stem cell, which can be divided into embryonic stem
cells and adult stem cells (Bishop 1). Embryonic stem cells are extracted from preimplantation
embryos and are pluripotent, meaning they possess the ability to form cells of all tissues in the adult
human body. Adult stem cells, however, are limited to what tissues they can transform into.
Currently, our research and understanding of embryonic cells is finite, yet it is evident that the
development of this research could have a significant impact on our treatment of various diseases,
disorders, and cancers. Conflicting opinions and scrutiny surrounding the ethics of embryonic stem
cell research delay the development and expansion of embryonic stem cell research. Many who

As the dew is dried up by the morning sun, so are the sins of mankind by the sight of the Himachal. The Ramayana saga Nothing has given humankind a bigger sense of divinity than mountains and no place can make you more aware of their power than the Himalaya. Beyond their sight, which may change your life; when you walk the crowded city streets, get into temples or hotels throughout Asia, you are unwittingly seeing mountains and finding hidden messages about them. Such is the influence of the Himalaya, that they are at the very core of Asian religions and shaped Asian cosmology, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I grew up surrounded by amazing mountains, but Canary Islanders belong to a culture much more related to the sea. I was lucky to study Indology before going to Nepal and for years I longed for that country and only when I came back I saw mine and loved them. But what happens to those who remained insensitive to the Himalaya and blind to the hidden messages? Well, there is hope if they traveled close to the people who have been constantly exposed to them. The ones who not only made them into food and eat them, turned into speech and chant them or stepped into them but who also climb and live from the mountains; the Sherpa. The ones who burn juniper as an offering to the mountains not only before the climbing but as long as anyone remains up there. Beyond worship, this is an exercise on caring about others. After the earthquake in 2015 people on Everest described everybody crouching down helplessly on the mountain while the earth was shaking. They listened not only to its roaring but also the loud mantras the Sherpa were chanting to appease the mountain. Their beliefs and way of life are made of all these stories and rituals, and the biggest gain for the ones who travel there is this sacramental way of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Abby Wambach s Role In Baseball When one thinks of the face of United States Soccer, Landon Donovan always came to mind, however, the true face of the game in the U.S., Abby Wambach, is calling it a career after her final game in New Orleans against China Wednesday night. Over her career with the National team she scored 184 goals. That is the most in international competition, according to USA Today. The 35 year old has carried the U.S. Women s National Team for a long time, and until recently, was the clear threat to score at anytime. However, she knows that it is time to move aside and let the next group of players carry on what she has built. Just like she did after Mia Hamm retired from the sport. Women in both sports and the workplace, and minority groups find limited opportunities, and she wants to change that. She said U.S. soccer has been great, one of the few leaders out there, but the fact that women in general make less money and have fewer opportunities must change. She is going to work to male that change happen. If Wambach has even half the success in the next part of her career as she did on the soccer pitch, the world had better watch out, because change is coming. • 6. Coming Of Age In Sparta Brayden Drury Coming of age can mean many different things for various cultures. Coming of age is the process of maturing or entering into adulthood. Most cultures and religions have specific events, ceremonies, or celebrations associated with coming of age. For a boy in ancient Sparta, coming of age includes many spiritual, physical, intellectual, and emotional elements to overcome. Coming of age in Sparta started moments after birth. The second a Spartan child was born, they were tested to make sure they embodied the perfect image of a Spartan soldier. They tested children by dipping them into a bath of wine to test their strength and determination. Spartans believed that a weak child would convulse and die. If the child passed, they were then taken to a group of elders. If the Elders found the child deficient in any way they would be left on the sides of Mount Taygetos to die. Spartan boys continued to get closer to coming of age their whole life. For example, at age eighteen, the formal education aspect of the Agoge ended. When a man and woman were married before the age of 30, women would shave themself bald and dress as a man in order to sneak into the military compound with her husband. • 8. Beach Erosion in Southern California Beach erosion is a serious issue today especially with human civilization building cities near the coast and disrupting the natural distribution of sediment deposition for our own convenience. Especially in southern California, beach erosion has some serious social, economic and environmental impacts on our society as a whole. Along with the rise of our sea levels due to global warming melting our polar ice caps, this erosion is having profound effects on coastal societies and has damaging effects on infrastructure worldwide. With human ingenuity, we have come up with various methods such as hard and soft engineering in order to both prevent and mitigate the effects of beach erosion. Introduction There are 2 types of beaches. One is erosion dominant and the other is deposition dominant. The erosion dominant one has more erosion than deposition so the beaches shrink. In the other case, if there is more deposition than erosion, then the beaches grow due to more sand being deposited upon it. The only reason why beaches shrink is due to erosion and this can happen for a variety of reasons. One reason being that if a shore tends to receive more destructive waves than constructive waves, then the beach will erode over time. This is because destructive waves erode and constructive waves deposit sediment. A very relevant example is that the beaches in southern California are naturally shrinking right now because they aren t receiving enough sediment from the San ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It s not supposed to be slaughtering something. How is a a field where a thousand corpses lie kind nobody would ever want that. War is Kind shows structure in the way it is written. The way it is written is it, talks about the people who have to suffer when their loved one go to war. • 11. A Brief Note On Physician Assisted Suicide ( Pas ) Physician assisted suicide (PAS) has fueled a lot of debate ever since it was first legalized in Oregon in 1997. PAS is when a doctor prescribes a medication that the patient can use to end their life. Washington legalized PAS in March of 2009, but only saw 255 individuals in 2012 who acquired the medication necessary to end their life from their doctor, resulting in only 24 of those patients using the prescription (McBride 45). It is debatable whether or not PAS should be seen as the equivalent to the suicide that we have labeled as immoral and have tried to prevent while others also question whether PAS is a reasonable solution to the suffering that terminally ill patients are inevitably being put through. I believe PAS should not be legalized in any other state and should, therefore, become illegal in the four states which now allow it and instead train their doctors to provide better palliative care for their patients. To begin, individuals who agree with PAS support their argument by focusing on the suffering that the patient would no longer have to go through. Supporters have called it the right to die movement and are concentrating on informing the public that people who are suffering due to their terminal illness have the right to die and would have, what they have deemed as, a death with dignity (Lachman 121). PAS has gained names which reflect it in a positive light such as right to die, good death, rational suicide, aid in dying, and merciful release ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As previously mentioned, unfortunately one of the many issues that one sees in life is conflict. Conflict is an inevitable part of life. But when conflict is present and tension is high, those involved begin to vibrate and the result, which is conflict, can be ugly and damaging with long lasting effects. When people are anxious keeping calm, remaining friendly and using reason to tackle the issues at hand can be a very challenging thing to do. Being anxious and trying to resolve the conflict to everyone s satisfaction is always a task. The ultimate goal however is to achieve a win win situation for all involved. Thus, mediation and conflict resolution is significantly important to all stakeholders. In this reflection, the student will examine the use of system s thinking and self differentiation as a means to successful and productive family mediation and conflict resolution. In an anxious situation or during the time of conflict the most valuable thing one can do is remain in control of one s own emotions. It is always important to remember that one cannot change anyone else; the only person that one can change is self. This can be incredibly difficult, particularly if one thinks the other party or people involved are being rude, thoughtless, unfair, and/or insensitive. It s been decades even centuries and it seems like society s acceptance of interracial marriages is still very much frown upon. Since my arrival here in the United States, in the early 80s till even now, I have been told, by my parents, aunts, uncles, and relatives, to stay away from other ethnic groups because they don t understand our people, our language, our tradition, and our way of life. I would argue that we no longer live in Laos and we need to limit ourselves to old traditions or superstitions. That there are some many benefits, in America, to marrying someone of another race and culture. Some of the main benefits would be to break the racial barriers of discrimination, lessen hate crimes, and create a safer environment for our children, whether of mixed cultures or not. Firstly, it has been throughout history that interracial marriages are unacceptable or even illegal for two people of a different race to marry. A tradition that has been around for centuries until in 1958 the case of, Loving v. Virginia, two Virginia natives Richard Loving, a white man and Mildred Jeter, a black woman got married in the District of Columbia and returned home soon after the wedding, Virginia declared that they violated the state s anti miscegenation statute and was sentenced to a year in jail or leave the state and not return for 25 years (Loving). • 18. Reconstruction Failure The Failure of Reconstruction Reconstruction in American society after the Civil War, which claimed many lives and displaced numerous families, was a period of integration of the Freedmen into the society by granting them their political and civil rights. However, one may ask, did reconstruction fail or succeed due to the high rate of racism at that period? According to Historian Steven Hahn, Reconstruction failed when Freedmen lost their military support of the North which increased the rate of violence towards the freedmen. Also, David Blight a Historian argues that reconstruction failed as a result of the high rate of racism and the injustice in the American society against the African American at that time. I agree with Hahn and Blight that, Reconstruction failed as a result of lack of injustice and racism against the African American, because the Freedmen were still being persecuted, had no equal rights to vote or own businesses like their white counterparts and also lacks the basic support of their Government. The Government s support and protection for the African American was vital for the Reconstruction movement to have succeeded, Although, the Radical Reconstruction made a tremendous effort to see that reconstruction movement was a success. Others like writer Victoria Wickham argue the most popular belief, that the Prioress?s bigotry is without question and readers should be more concerned about the degree rather than the fact itself. But there is another possibility. Edwards and Spector, two prominent medieval scholars, put aside the issue of racism temporarily and instead offer an alternative interpretation on the very nature of Chaucer?s love hate contradiction in the Prioress?s tale. They argue that the love vs. hate contradiction is not dependent on outside forces, but is actually an internal conflict within the Prioress herself. Consequently, the individuals and subsequent groups in her tale are not specific characters but culturally influenced manifestations representing separate issues. In this way her personality becomes the allegory of her tale, making specific references within her story irrelevant to her true attitude. In this writer?s opinion, popular attitudes on the nature of the love hate contradiction in the Prioress?s tale are wrong; Edwards and Stevens help prove this. Natural selection is the outcome of inheritance, variance, and differential reproduction and can operate at many if not all levels of the taxonomic hierarchy (Bergstrom Dugatkin, 2012). If the level meets the requirements of natural selection, it may be acted upon. Natural selection can vary in the force of selection between each level in the hierarchy and depends highly on the amount of units within the level. The higher the taxonomic level the less units, less variation and multiplication that is found. The levels in which natural selection operates and the strength of its force will be discussed moving down the hierarchy of genes, cells, individuals, populations composed of closely related kin, and groups of distantly related ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most diploid species maintain a one to one sex ratio because it is evolutionarily stable (Fisher, 1930). However, when population ratios do not fit the Fisherian sex ratio of one to one, selection will favor the gene/allele that is in limited supply until their frequency is greater or equal to the competing gene (Fisher, 1930). Therefore, selection works at the level of the gene in maintaining evolutionarily stable Fisherian sex ratios. Not only does natural selection operate at the level of the gene, it has also been found to operate at the level of the cell. Since different cell types within an individual have different rates of division, the morphology of organisms results from selection at the level of the cell (Lewontin, 1970). Natural selection is a strong force at the cellular level due to high levels of variation and therefore multiplication, and heredity which favors the cell lineages that are better adapted to leaving behind descendent cells (Smith, 1987). An example of natural selection operating at the level of the cell is shown by clonal selection theory of immunity where normal tissue repair and neoplastic growth are results of natural selection at the cellular level (Lewonith, 1970). Normal tissue repair occurs as a response to destruction of tissue, where certain cell types reproduce faster than normal in order to repair the tissue, then returns to a normal rate after repair (Lewonith, 1970). ... The allowance system was regarded by the ruling class as an unmitigated evil . Payment of allowances was thought to encourage reckless breeding and immorality and the inflated poor rates were a grievance burden on agriculture, hindering investment and enterprises, crushing the small tenant or freeholder. Farmers no longer had to pay their labourers decent wages when they could get relief from the parish. In order to fully understand the controversy surrounding this area of scientific research and discovery, one must be informed as to what stem cells are. In the article, Human Embryonic Stem Cells: Research, Ethics and Policy , stem cells are described as primitive cells with the capacity to divide and give rise to more identical stem cells or to specialize and from specific cells of somatic tissues (Wert 672). Essentially, stem cells can potentially provide an unlimited supply of cells that could form some or all body cells. This ability to transform into different types or all types of cells depends of the type of stem cell, which can be divided into embryonic stem cells and adult stem cells (Bishop 1). Embryonic stem cells are extracted from preimplantation embryos and are pluripotent, meaning they possess the ability to form cells of all tissues in the adult human body. Adult stem cells, however, are limited to what tissues they can transform into. Currently, our research and understanding of embryonic cells is finite, yet it is evident that the development of this research could have a significant impact on our treatment of various diseases, disorders, and cancers.
