Isolcell Italia Spa
FIRE PREVENTION DIVISION
The past 60 years have made Isolcell Italia JSC an 60 YEARS EXPERIENCE
unquestionable world leader in the field of controlled and generated atmospheres.
This has come from
continuous innovation in research and in technological development that has led to
high quality solutions and manufactured products offered to the world and is combined with a
great capacity to provide application consultancy.
This leadership is further strengthened by the award of certificate of accreditation as a research
laboratory by the Ministry of University and Scientific Research and by the
ISO 9001:2001 quality system, which corroborates and guarantees the company’s commitment
and the importance given to a process of continuous improvement of products and production
processes.

A NEW SAFETY STANDARD IN FIRE PREVENTION
Isolcell has 60 years of experiences in research and development of new technologies
related to the production of machines and systems to treat and modify gaseous
mixtures.
Using this controlled atmosphere experience we took the opportunity to develop
a new and innovative PREVENTION system with the aim of EXCLUDING THE RISK OF FIRE
in designated areas
Fire prevention system :
FIRE PREVENTION WITH OXYGEN REDUCTION SYSTEM ( ORS )
The atmosphere we breathe consists mainly of a mixture of nitrogen (78%) and oxygen (21%).
Nitrogen is the predominant gas in the atmosphere, is: NON TOXIC, NON POLLUTING and LEAVES NO
RESIDUES ON PROTECTED OBJECTS.
Nitrogen is an inert gas. Oxygen is the natural substance aiding every combustion process, including
human respiration. A fire will exist only if sufficient oxygen continuously reaches it to support the
speed of the reaction.
PRINCIPLE:
CONCEPT – THE FIRE TRIANGLE
The 3 elements: fuel, oxygen and heat comprise
the “fire triangle” describing every combustion
process.
The basis of fire-fighting techniques is to break at
least one side of the fire triangle.
prevents the problem even occurring by actively removing
the possibility of combustion.
BRENNSTOFFFUEL
OUR MODEL: NATURE
The principle of the N2 FireFighter® method is to create an atmosphere in the areas
to be protected with a reduced oxygen content compared to normal conditions and
maintain it.
This modified atmosphere consists completely of natural gas and is therefore:
absolutely environment friendly and tolerable for the human organism.
to prevent a fire from breaking out,
the oxygen content of the air merely
has to be lowered by 15%
Here in the test room, the air is very thin, but
not dangerous for human beings. This is not
the place, however, for a fire to take hold!
The effect of N2 FIREFIGHTER on humans is the
same as the air we find on the mountains at
about 3.300 m elevation; the partial pressure of
oxygen at that height is equal to the partial
pressure of oxygen in the methodology of N2

AUTO-EXTINGUISH ATMOSPHERE :
GENERATE-MODIFY:
The N2 FIREFIGHTER® fire prevention system foresees the use of electrical
appliances which are based on the principle of molecular separation, to reduce
the level of oxygen;
It is a NATURAL PROCESS, as we change only the atmospheric parameters.
IMMISSIONS:
Filling of the space to be protected with the auto-extinguish
atmosphere to achieve the specified parameters
MAINTENANCE:
Maintaining the auto-extinguish atmosphere by check, analyze and possible
modification.
ISOLCELL TECHNOLOGY
ADOX® system
PLUG & PLAY
Isolcell Italia offers a new range of nitrogen
generators. ADOX® VSA nitrogen generators is a
molecular sieves (CMS) nitrogen generator
operating at low pressure.
Its particular vacuum-regeneration helps in
lowering the energy consumption.
Nimos VSA nitrogen generators uses the storage
atmosphere to produce nitrogen and therefore
improve the performance up to 50%.
The functioning of the generator is controlled by an
oxygen analyzer and a microprocessor.
PRODUCTION OF AUTO-EXTINGUISH ATMOSPHERE
COMPARISON BETWEEN
TRADITIONAL SYSTEM and ADOX® METHODOLOGIES
Energy costs for generating a self-
extinguishing atmosphere can reach
approximately 75% of total compressed air-
related costs
As shown in the diagram, other costs, are
minor in comparison.
It is therefore apparent that any energy
savings obtained through an adequate
technology can lead to substantial benefits
to the overall system economy.
Accordingly, it is important to assess,
among the various options, the one
that ensures minimum energy
consumption in the amortisation
period established.

ADVANTAGES OF THE N2 FIREFIGHTER ® METHOD
●
It completely eliminates every fire risk in protected areas;
●
The auto-extinguish atmosphere is non-toxic, non polluting and leaves no residues on protected
objects;
●
This fire-fighting technology is preferred by insurance companies;
●
With N2 FireFighter there is little to no aesthetic impact on the space to be protected;
●
Installation is easy, even in situations which are particularly complicated or are subject to tight regulations;
● The system can easily be fitted as part of main fire monitoring systems already available on the
market;
●
Lower maintenance costs than "traditional emergency" systems
●
Delayed the decay and the wear of the objects;
●
Great versatility: from small rooms up to large environments;
●
The plant can be customised and easily expandible;
SUITABLE FOR:
● Large warehouses, store rooms
● Libraries and bookshops
● Museums and archives
● Finance institutions, banks, insurance
companies
● Data processing centres
● Petrochemical and pharmaceutical industries
