Spišská Nová Ves is an urban conservation area with many historically valuable buildings located on its historic Town Hall Square, the longest lenticular square in Europe. The town's church has the highest tower in Slovakia at 87 meters tall with 7 clock faces. The Town Hall was built in 1779 and was the center of town life, with its most important space being the two-story Assembly Hall. The town also has a theatre dating back to 1844. The Province House, formerly the town hall from the Middle Ages until 1777, has a front facade with 6 paintings depicting mayoral characteristics. Nearby is the largest castle in central Europe, Spis Castle, registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site
