Craiova is the capital of Dolj County in Romania. Some notable landmarks in Craiova include the former Administrative Palace building from 1912-1913, now the headquarters of Dolj Prefecture and County Council. The National Theatre "Marin Sorescu" founded in 1850 occupies a special place in the history of Romanian theatre.
