Craiova is the capital of Dolj County in Romania. Some notable landmarks in Craiova include the former Administrative Palace building from 1912-1913, now the headquarters of Dolj Prefecture and County Council. The National Theatre "Marin Sorescu" founded in 1850 occupies a special place in the history of Romanian theatre. The Philharmonic "Oltenia" Craiova was founded in 1904 and is a prestigious musical institution. Restored by Constantin Brancoveanu in the architectural style carrying his name, Banie House has two floors, with rooms with brick vaults downstairs, with bedroom and balcony upstairs. This is the place where the Divan of Craiova used to meet.
