My Teaching Philosophy
Education is the bridge between student and world. It is a system that is always
changing, growing, and developing to meet the needs of the community. To inspire the
desire to learn and to advance students with knowledge and skills fit for these societal
needs is its purpose.
I believe that the human being is naturally inquisitive, therefore, the goal of education
should be to guide students to answers by critical thought, creativity, and rationality.
My goal as an educator is to foster this valuable inquisition by encouraging students to
wonder about their world, explore their environment, seek understanding of their
culture, and confidently ask questions about what is unknown. In order to do this, I
openly welcome questions. I address them by facilitating my students’ journey toward
reaching the answers.
I bring originality to my classroom! My experience with the Spanish language and
culture is unique. It is my valuable tool for expressing myself and successfully
communicating cross-culturally. Learning how to speak, write, read, and listen in a
second language is fruitful and exciting! I believe the most effective way to share these
communication skills is by the primary way of language acquisition: naturally. Not only
will my students learn the language, they will use it regularly, for fluency comes with
practice.
A number of things I strive to accomplish for my students:
 A Fair Playing Field. Every student has the potential to learn and be the best
version of themselves.
 A Safe Learning Environment. My classroom atmosphere will be positive,
respectful, and welcoming. Students are called to be open, honest, loving, and
kind. We will be able to serve each other’s academic needs and build each other
up as a team. Students will be empowered and in charge of their learning.
 Allowing Struggle. In reality, we do not succeed every time we face a challenge.
Mistakes will be treated as an opportunity for personal growth. I will meet my
students wherever they are at, lead them through complex areas, and allow
them to experience hard work, some frustration, and rewarding success. A major
factor in this process is always modeling the desired outcome, as students can
only meet my expectations if they are clear.
 Access to a Caring and Compassionate Individual. I believe that all human beings
seek affirmation. While maintaining a professional relationship with my students,
I will be accessible. They will know that I care about their learning and
achievements because I will take the time to individually acknowledge and
support them.
 An Open Door. In the end, I aim to open a door to the world. I hope to feed
students the information they need and to provide the tools they can use to
begin to recognize what role they play in the world. I wish to inspire them to
reach for their highest potential and receive endless opportunities.
