For today s analysis, I chose the poem Sonnet by Billy Collins. The author begins by stating all we
need is fourteen lines causing the reader to believe the poem is, in fact, a sonnet ( Sonnet 1). After
reading through, however, the conclusion can be made that the author does not follow many of the
various rules associated with writing a sonnet. For instance, the rhyme scheme of this poem is not
that of a sonnet at all. Normally, a Petrarchan sonnet would follow an a b b a, a b b a, and so on;
however, the author instead strays from the expected and has very little, if any, rhyming throughout
the entire piece. The only time any rhyme is seen is for the few slant rhymes the author includes
and even those do not contribute to making it a true sonnet. Another missing aspect of sonnet
writing is iambic pentameter. All of the lines, except the last, do not meet the guidelines of ten

The main antagonist, Bob Ewell, for example is a very racist white man who in the story is the
main reason that Tom Robinson was unfairly convicted of rape. He told the court that Tom
Robinson raped his daughter, Mayella Ewell, and when Atticus defended Tom Robinson in this

In the article, Anatoli Boukreev (Responds to Krakauer), Boukreev addresses his viewpoint and
response to Krakauer s letter. He argues that the tragedy that happened on Mount Everest was
not how Krakauer described and Krakauer s lack of experience was what got in the way of his
ability to evaluate correctly of the situation. To begin with, he declares that his decisions and
actions were based upon his experience of climbing mountains so he had a reason for why he did

My Goals For College
Walt Disney once said, All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.
According to CBS News, he was fired from a Missouri newspaper company for not being
creative enough at the age of twenty two. However, he eventually became the owner of a multi
billion dollar company. Despite the hardships, Mr. Disney refused to give up on his dreams and
was determined to accomplish his goals. This is exactly how I see myself fulfilling my ambitions
because I always push myself to give 110% in everything I do. My goals include graduating high
school with the highest academic honors possible, attending Indiana University Southeast and
majoring in marketing with a minor in human resources, and obtaining a job in the field that I have
studied. Throughout my high school career, I have pushed myself to do the best that I can in
everything I do. I have maintained a 4.0 GPA while actively participating in several clubs and
athletics. My goals for the remained of the school year include continuing my excellence in
academics, staying involved in both school and community activities, and graduating from high

In the many occasions that I have visited IUS, I felt extremely welcome. The students and staff
were willing to answer any and all questions that I had. The staff told me that I would not a
number at this campus, but rather a person who they will get to know because of small class sizes.
While attending one of the classes in the business field, the teacher made sure that every single
person knew exactly what he was trying to tell them. He did not want to move on until the students

It was Martin Luther King, Jr. who said, Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere
ignorance. Many people in the Western world either do not know or choose to ignore the fact that a
massive amount of products that come into North America from faraway lands are produced in
sweatshops, including shoes, clothing, and toys. This ignorance over the inhumane and unjust
labour conditions happening in factories on other sides of the globe is precisely what keeps these
horrifying practices alive. China is home to one of the most enormous and concentrated sweatshop
systems in the world. There are approximately 150 million people in China working in ghastly
conditions, having to live off nearly unsustainable pay, and being refused benefits... Show more
In present China, forced and unpaid prison labor is widespread and common. Characteristics of
Chinese sweatshops include overcrowding, lack of sanitary conditions, no worker breaks,
demands to complete a task within a limited period of time, and a total lack of job security.
Government negligence is what allows such abuses to persist. Some plants force employees into
working extraordinary amounts of hours, for example, a Price Waterhouse audit of Nike
factories in China found that some require seven days of work per week. Many workers who
supposedly have the choice to work overtime must do so in order to survive on their low wage
rates. The people working in Chinese sweatshops only get a small amount of payment for their
work and nothing more. The locals do not benefit at all, but instead suffer from the presence of
foreign businesses in their country. As for the foreigners, one telling statistic is that the United States
imports an estimated $100 million per year in goods produced by Chinese migrant workers. The
outside companies gain millions as the developing countries struggle to survive. Presently,
foreigners gain massively from the resource of migrant workers in China. The locals that can
benefit from their presence benefit very, very little, that is, if a small amount of money for their
