Neural Networks Are Used For Forecasting
Abstract Neural networks are used for forecasting. The purpose of any learning algorithm is to find
a function such that it maps a set of inputs to its correct output. Some input and output patterns can
be easily learned by this neural networks. However, in the learning phase single layer neural
networks cannot learn patterns that are not linearly separable. Back propagation is a common
method of training the neural networks. We are trying to develope the back propagation (BP)
neural networkto form a predictionmodel for prediction of various shares in stock market.
I. PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The stock market is predictable or not predictable is still a question without an answer. Most
scientists and economists believe in stock is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This paper has deep study of the BP neural network in
MATLAB, including how to create a neural network, how to initialize the network, training and
simulation, and using
MATLAB programming function and achieve the designed BP neural network. The last but not the
least, it is proved that the research method and the established model are practical and effective by
empirical analysis of several stocks. It not only simplifies the network structure, but also improves
the prediction accuracy as well, owning good predictive capability and generalization.
Deliverables for Stage1 are as follows:
A general description of the system:
With the help of the prediction model, we are predicting the future price of different stocks over a
future period of time. To achieve this, we need to train our model using the previous stock prices
over a previous period of time, so that our model will predict the future price of the respective
stocks. We are using the yahoo financial data set for training our data. The Back Propagation (BP)
algorithm is used to train the model that we are building using neural networks. We are modelling
our prediction using the MATLAB.

Un Peacekeeping Has Become An Important Component Of Conflict
UN peacekeeping has become an important component of conflict management across the globe,
involving complex multi dimensional missions with mandates to help establish long and lasting
peace. Peacekeepers represent and help implement the values of international community in their
activities in conflict areas. Unfortunately, some peacekeepers have engaged in exploitative and
abusive sexual relations with the beneficiary population that they serve. Often these transgressions
followed by impunity for a myriad of institutional and cultural reasons. The efforts of the UN to
address sexual misconduct are either curtailed by their competences as an organization or deficient.
This study argues that the UN would benefit from a new approach... Show more content on

A conclusion and discussion follows.
II. Sexual Misconduct In Peace Operations
The record of peacekeeper sexual misconduct has a long history stretching back as far as the UN
mission in Cambodia (UNTAC) in 1992 (Simic, 2009, p. 396; Hebert, 2011, p. 124). The UN
was ill prepared for this behavior in peace operations. The UN Special Representative to
Cambodia, Yasushi Akashi infamously said in 1993 in response to peacekeeper sexual abuse of
the local population: boys will be boys (Neudorfer, 2014, p. 13). In 2000, the UN Security Council
(UNSC) adopted Resolution 1325 to begin integrating more women into the peacekeeping process
and mainstreaming a gendered perspective in the organization (1325 ####). In 2002, the
UNHCR and Save the Children UK issued a report naming more than 40 humanitarian agencies
exploiting refugees in West Africa, which served as catalyst for the UN and other agencies to
make more effective policies to combat sexual misconduct (Spencer, 2005, p. 172). In 2002, the
UN established the Inter Agency Standing Committee Task Force on Protection from Sexual
Exploitation and Abuse in Humanitarian Crises (Hebert, 2011, p. 125). The UN Secretary
General (UNSG) issued a bulletin in 2003 to establish a zero tolerance policy for sexual
misconduct (Odello Burke, 2016, p. 840; Spencer, 2005, p. 172). Additionally, an advisor was
appointed to the UNSG concerning sexual misconduct by UN peacekeepers

U.s Law On Public Sector
A REVISION OF THE CURRENT IMPACT OF US LAW ON PUBLIC SECTOR (May focus on
CRA, ADEA, FLSA, ADAA, IDEA, FMLA) Laws are basically rules that bind all people and
help protect general safety in a community, organization, association, team etc. Laws also help to
enforce all individual rights as citizens. One important thing to know is that laws are different
across different regions, states and countries. The most important thing to know about any
place, organization, community and country is the laws that govern it. State law for driving at a
safe speed in Pennsylvania is 65m/hr when driving in highway. If someone drive above 65m/hr
and his caught, he will be found guilty of the law and he will be charge. In essence, laws help to
maintain orderliness and protection of human rights. U.S law helps to impact positively the
right of citizens in public sector and also helps promote equality among its citizens
(Publications.Usa.gov, 2016). The high rate of discrimination and favoritism in the past has
seriously been tackled and reduced to minimum. Law has helped all individuals to be given fair
hearing to employment. Law helps protect all citizens from discrimination due to their race, age,
gender or even disability. The law has no respect for any individual, all is subject to act under the
law without any preference or favoritism. All citizens are governed by law no matter his or her
position in the society. Law governs all, and no one is above the law. Former

The Plan Of An Old French Word Budget Essay
The word budget is derived from an old French word bougette , which has the meaning of that of
purse (The Guardian, 2004). It is also defined as the quantitative expression of a plan of action and
an aid to the coordination and implementation of the plan (Bhimani et al., 2013). These days,
budget is essentially used in almost every organization as an aid of measurements when setting the
organization s objectives and targets. Its use has allowed managers to bring about the objectives of
the business in quantitative terms, usually on an annual basis, with a financial means of expression.
Budgetary control on the other hand, is narrated as a system of managementcontrol in which actual
income and spending are compared with planned income and spending, so that you can see if
plans are being followed and if those plans need to be changed in order to make a profit (Financial
Times Lexicon, 2015) and has in recent times played a greater role in performance management. At
the same time, relationship between corporations and the capital market is on a rise, and has since
resulted in many complications. This essay aims to identify and describe the merits of budgetary
control, and at the same time, analyses the shortcomings in relation to the capital market.
An organization is a combination of many divisions covering a wide range of functions and
activities. Budget helps to translate an organization s strategic plan into operations by providing

Pathology Between China And The West
Pathology Between China and the West and the Crisis of the Chinese Identity
So the book I decided to do for my book review is The Afterlife of Images: Translating the
Pathological Body Between China and the West. In the introduction of the book the author finds it
important to state how she came to the point on writing the book. As the author was working in the
National Palace Museum researching representations of pathology in modern art, a colleague
pointed out a picture in showed a boy with smallpox. The picture was part of an exhibition at the
time called Comparison of Chinese and World Cultures . In this exhibit there were two timelines; a
Chinese and Western one. The aim of both timelines was to form a visual comparison of... Show

In other words an image that was used in order to be able to properly diagnose and contain the
disease through inoculation and that was a symbol of technological prowess in the eyes of the
Chinese had become a symbol for underdevelopment, as the Chinese came to be identified with a
vulnerability to disease. The goal of this book is to trace the development and the origins of the
various medical iconographies that ended up connecting the Chinese identity with illness
subjugation at the dawn of modernity. By doing so, it tries to point the various outlines of the
varied contexts in which the meanings of medical representations were created and transformed in
the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century. It focuses on the medical rhetoric, the study
and application of persuasive language and symbols in medicine, and the iconography of
missionaries in China that brought back to the West this perception of a sick China or otherwise
known as Sick Man of Asia (Heinrich, pg 4). Furthermore, it also studies how these ideas found
their way back to China through missionaries, early translations of Western medical texts to
Chinese, and through Chinese literature itself. Ultimately, it not only tries to point out the

The Crystal Structure of Sphingosine
In the PDBID 3V2Y, the crystal structure of the sphingosine 1 phosphate receptor subtype 1 is
fused to T4 lysozyme. Fusion of the third intracellular loop to the T4 lysozyme rendered soluble
crystal junctions (Rosen H et al, 2013) for the rapidly disintegrating microcrystals (Hanson MA et
al, 2012).
Structure elements of S1PR1
The structural observations gained from antagonist preserved structures of Rhodopsin like GPCRs
show that the typical orientation of the seven transmembrane domains have significant overlap. The
minute overlap is produced depending on the helix bundle, tilt and the specific interactions
(hydrophobic and electrostatic). This specific overlap is important for co ordinated signaling by
the different GPCRs (Rosen H et al, 2013).
GPCRs possess an extracellular domain consisting of the N terminus and three extracellular loops.
However, a number of prominent features are associated with the Ligand Binding Pocket in the
S1P1 receptor. The extracellular region of S1PR1 is significantly ordered. This is due to the N
terminus comprising a well ordered О± helix that projects the top of the receptor. This
contributes to binding interactions and forms a helix cap, which occludes access to the
amphipathic binding pocket (Hanson MA et al, 2012). The three loops, namely, ECL1 amidst
helices II and III, ECL2 formed between helices IV and V and ECL3 in helices VI and VII, also
make up the extracellular region. Both ECL1 and ECL2 are tightly packed against the

financial institutions such as the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) in the sub

Nevertheless, some political economists have argued that the continents underdevelopment is due
to how the states were created with their political and economic link with industrialised nations.
This as a result has led to industrialised countries experimenting ill designed development concepts
in developing countries. Rodney (2012) argued that every nation has developed, however not on
even economic grounds. He further stated that underdevelopment is used by industrialised countries
to exploit other countries.
Background Body (1600 1800 words)
The word bank and IMF are the two main global financial institutions that lend money to various
developed and developing countries. According to Wolff (2013) these institutions came into being
in 1944 after the Bretton woods conference to establish a firm global economy after the world war
two. The purpose of these institutions was to stimulate a stable development and offer
unconditional loans to nations in economic crisis so as to achieve their developmental needs
(Wolff, 2013). However, these never saw the daylight, due to pressure experienced from the US
legislatures, also known as the Washington Consensus which as a result led the IMF and World
Bank to lend money with harsh conditions.
Kingston et al. (2011) suggests that the Structural Adjustment Policies (SAP) programs in most
cases have led to poverty in developing countries

Witch Testing Dbq
Some of the witch tests were inhumane and cruel, sometimes resulting in death before they even
came to a conclusion that they were witches or not. Bordering on torture and execution. They were
unfair and biased, and could be brought on by little as an accusation and a neighbor.
The water trials were that the convicted were thrown into a running body of water, since it was
believed that their evil deeds would reject the water, so they would float. They had a rope tied
around their waste for those who sank, so they were able to be pulled out. In the case they floated,
they were occasionally executed. Even if they did sink and were seen as innocent, it was not
uncommon for accidental drowning s to occur.

Witch cakes is a bizarre trial where they used the urine of the victim, and fed it to the familiar of

People believed that when people made a pact with Satan to gain their witch powers, the were
given a witch mark so those accused of being a witch were searched, and if a witch mark was

Another test is the prick, or scratch test. If a witch mark is not found, people used a specially

Analysis Of Jerry Sandusky Scandal
In 2011 head coach Joe Paterno of Pennsylvania State University was fired after a scandal
involving Jerry Sandusky brought to light allegations of child sexual abuse that had been in the
shadows for as many as 30 plus years without any discipline. After Sandusky was found guilty
and sentenced to 30 60 years, some question whether this incident could have been prevented and
why it was kept secret for so many years. The Sandusky scandal is a good example of a concept
called Groupthink proposed by Irvan Janis (1982) that describes a dysfunctional group process
that can occur when group members focus on being cohesive, do not express disagreement or think
critically, and as a result, make bad decisions . In my paper I will highlight the concepts... Show

I do believe that had college football leadership been less uniform and remembered the fact that
the lives affected by these scandals were more important than the game of football, there may
have been less victims, and the resulting consequences would have been far less severe. The
majority of historical scandals involving college football involve paying football players,
cheating, and in some cases more severe allegations of sexual misconduct like those of Penn
State and Nebraska. Nebraska had allegations of multiple players playing watch out while another
player raped multiple victims. Many colleges have been caught in scandal only to repeat the same
scandal over and over until the NCAA drops the ball on them. Coaches are known to have the
attitude that wins are more important than anything else. Perhaps this culture comes from the high
turnover level of coaches who fail to present a winning team. It is not only the coaches but
teammates as well who feel they need to keep quiet in difficult situations. In the NFL, other
examples like Tom Brady s deflate gate, Adrian Peterson s child abuse case, and Ray Rice s
domestic violence case, are all examples of teammates and team staff knowing about certain
situations and either not caring or pushing things under the rug only to win games. It only takes one
whistleblower to report incidents that are criminal in nature and protect innocent victims from

What Are Residential Schools In Canada
Aboriginal men and women who lived through residential schools brought the concern of residential
schools onto the public agenda.[2] Their work resulted in the Indian Residential School Settlement
Agreement, which stipulated a residential school Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada
be conducted.[2] The commission concluded that the Canadian residential school system was
established for the purpose of separating children from their families.[2] According to the
commission, this was done with the intention to minimize the familys ability to pass along their
cultural heritage to their children.[2][3] The commission spent six years traveling to different parts
of Canada to hear the testimony of approximately six thousand Aboriginal people who were taken

The Benefits Of Technology In Education
According to Pathways, if a child can t read at grade level by the fourth grade he or she is
unlikely to ever catch up. However, growing up in a world full of technology in high tech
classrooms, children are able to have an advantage in learning. Schools and teachers are involving
technology in their student s school work and everyday tasks. As they grow older, the effects in
learningvary for each individual, especially in their adult years. Some adult jobs involve
technology which affects adults in their learning especially if they grew up without it. Living in
the 21st century, there are pros and cons of how technology can help you or someone not only
learn, but also use it for literary reasons. According to our survey, 95.2% individuals grew up with
television in which helped them have a basis on learning such as Dora the Explorer, Blue s Clues,
and Sesame Street. Kids basically learned colors, alphabets, and numbers in a fun way watching
their favorite characters on screen. Also in our first source, a man named K. Ciampa did a study to
prove the fact that developing comprehension skills, vocabulary, and complex thinking is an
essential starting factor for elementary kids. Teachers are then challenged to find ways to encourage
their students to not only continue reading but to become stronger readers. He states that
incorporating reading within technology engages the students more and affects their progress in
their reading (Ciampa). Nowadays, teachers are using and

Persuasive Essay On Online Classes
Most people think highly of online classes; get to work from home, get to work on a flexible
schedule, and anyone can do it. Though no one has heard the cons of taking one. I personally
took three semesters of online classes in high school and had a horrible experience. Because of
loose scheduling, poor communication, and the focus needed, online classes are not suitable for
procrastinators. To give a better understanding, I will summarize my experience with the class.
Me, being a procrastinator, thought to myself: I ll just work on the weekends and if I don t finish
the class by the end of the school year, I can finish within the first few weeks of summer. This was
a god awful plan. Unsurprisingly, close to nothing was accomplished on the weekends. Friends
would ask me to hang out every weekend, and I did every time. Why would I want to work on my
class on the weekend when I could be having fun? I would later regret this decision. On the days
I stayed home and could have worked on the class, I completed nothing. On these days, I would
tell myself: I ll just complete what I didn t do this weekend next weekend. This rarely happened.
Thus, the cycle of getting nothing accomplished started. I disregarded my class for most of the
first semester of junior year. With only nine assignments out of eighty finished after the first
semester of the school year, I was immensely behind. I told myself to get my act together during
second semester and grind out these two semesters

Breastfeeding is one of the best methods for providing infants with a healthy start to life. Breast

Target Description
This law is a federal law, so I would want to reach out to the federal legislator Joe Donnelley.
Defining the Problem/ Assemble the Evidence
This law was intended to help new mothers, but there are still gaps in this law. Some issues come
from accessibility, coverage, and support. The Affordable Care Act requires employers to provide
mothers that are breastfeeding with a reasonable time and a space to express their milk.
Unfortunately, only forty percent of women returned to work with these accommodations. I believe
this is an issue because forty percent is an extremely small number and if this is a law, then that
mean that various employers are not giving nursing mothers the accommodation that they are
supposed to have. Women are also facing challenges with getting lactation support for no expense,
which is supposed to be covered under their insurance. Why pass a law to help nursing mothers if
there are no records of mothers having access to it? It is important for most mothers that their child
is healthy and it is not fair to tell them they have access to something that employers aren t giving
them. Only six states have passed laws expanding workplace breastfeeding accommodations to
additional employees or extending requirements for employers. I believe that extending the
requirements for employers to make sure nursing mothers are getting the time and the place is
extremely important because it makes

What new insights I have gained is that it is important to look at the factors that may cause
sundowning in each person because factors that may be a part of sundowning could be different
for each resident and it must not be looked at the same for everyone. For example, if a resident
has a urinary tract infection or some other medical condition that contributes to sundowning that
would need to be addressed. If another resident has different factors that aggravate late day
confusion different methods might need to be used to help them that are not the same. Of
course, sundowning can affect people differently such as types of behaviors that might occur
and it would be important to know what those behaviors are especially if it is aggression. The
social worker, nurses, CNA s and others that work with the resident would need to be careful if
someone gets aggressive and know what to do for safety reasons. In addition, by knowing to look
for the factors that could be causing it measures can be taken to try to address it or prevent it
beforehand that would be the best practice.
Tips for reducing sundowning:
Try to maintain a predictable routine for bedtime, waking, meals and activities.
Plan for activities and exposure to light during the day to encourage nighttime sleepiness.
Limit daytime napping.
Limit caffeine and sugar to morning hours.
Keep a night light on to reduce agitation that occurs when surroundings are dark or unfamiliar.

The short story Her first ball is written by Katherine Mansfield, a prominent modernist writer from
New Zealand. The short story was first published in the Weekly Westminster Gazette, then later
included in her third collection of short stories, The Garden Party and Other Stories. Her first ball
centers on young Leila who has moved from the countryside to the city and is attending her first
ball along with her cousins.
Considering Mansfield wrote the short story in the early 1920s, and also bearing in mind that
dances such as the one included in Her first ball were common among the bourgeois youth at this
time, it is fair to assume Mansfield meant for the short story to be set in the then contemporary time.
The plot of the short story unfolds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Leila moves from up country to the city, meets new people and takes on a new role as a ball
participant. She has likely turned 18 recently and is transitioning into adulthood.
The old man, a sore reminder of Leila s future, attends dances without shame. When Leila
remarks that it is inspiring for him to still be going on, he tells her that she has no chance of
lasting as long. ( [...] long before that you ll be sitting up there on the stage, looking on, in your
nice black velvet. And these pretty arms will have turned into little short fat ones, and you ll beat
time with such a different kind of fan a black bony one. . This introduces a fourth theme: gender
roles. Though it is possible for him, as a man, to continue dancing for as long as he would like to,
she cannot make that choice.
Her first ball is a short story that deals with coming of age, new beginnings, facades in the upper
class, and gender roles in the 1920s. Katherine Mansfield uses many symbols to get her message
through: it is not necessarily wrong to see the world through the eyes of a child every once in a
while, and you should enjoy the moment even though there will inevitably be an end to it.

Analysis Of Mccloskey s On Being An Atheist
In McCloskey s (1968) article On Being an Atheist , the arguments for the existence of God are
rebutted and some compelling reasons are given in order to enlighten some other atheists who
might be struggling to defend their beliefs. Firstly, McCloskey (1968) opens his discussion by
asserting that the three main proofs (teleological, cosmological, and argument from design) of God
s existenceare not the basic nor the right proofs with which to arrive at a vague (p.51) conclusion
that states the existence of a necessary being. These proofs have not been considered by the
serious theologians, but instead, they have been the excuse of the parson (McCloskey, 1968).
However, McCloskey misses the point made by such arguments by assuming that such defenses are
a definite proof of the existence of God. To regard something as a proof, one must know that the
argument being made is certain and incorrigible, but the arguments made by the theist are said to
be defeasible, not incorrigible or certain (Foreman, 2012). This mean that the arguments can be
regarded as true unless a defeater, which if it were true, would defeat the argument (Foreman,
2012). Then, if the classical arguments used by the theist to advocate for God s existence are
defeasible and not proofs as McCloskey claims, and no defeater has been shown to be true, there is
no need to abandon such arguments.
Secondly, McCloskey discusses the cosmological argumentand states that there is no reason for
believing that the

that they both are dedicated to protecting the people. Another similarity I noticed is that they both
have natural powers. Wonder Woman has her superhuman strength and Lasso of Truth, while Yu
the Great has the powers given to him by God.

Term Paper
The Coping Process Throughout my entire life I have been dealing with stress even when I have
tried to avoid it. Stress always manages to find it s way to you, and you either can ignore what is
causing you stress, or find a method to deal with your stressor head on.
When I was younger, about thirteen or so my parents got divorced. I didn t know how to accept
the fact that my parents would no longer be living under the same roof, and no one made a huge
deal about this inside the family. Was I just supposed to act like this is a normal part of life?

But I know when the time comes I will need a good coping system to deal with it.
Stress is an ongoing problem that happens in everyone s life. Stress is a simple term used by
many people, most of the time it is misunderstood or used to describe a condition of a person. It
is a known factor that stressors play a large part of everyone s daily living, many people learn to
either manage stress or have been placed on some type of medication to help control it. In the
world today, there are so many causes and effects of stress but only a few different ways to help
manage and maintain a healthy lifestyle. The effects of stress is directly linked to coping. The
study of coping has evolved to surround a large variety of training beginning with all areas of
psychology such as health psychology and environmental psychology. Coping strategies can be
broken up into three large components, (physiological, cognitive, and learned.) The cognitive
approach to coping is based on a mental process of how the individual values the situation. Where
the level of judgement determines the level of stress and the unique coping strategies that the
individual decides to use. In physiological it is inside the body and what goes on behind closed
doors. The body has its own way of coping with stress. Any threat or challenge that an individual
perceives in the environment triggers a chain of events. The learned component of coping includes

Descriptive Essay About A Hot Air Balloon
Hot Air Balloon One day I was just sitting at home while I was thinking about what to do, it was
during thanksgiving so it was not only me thinking about what to do at the time. My whole family
and I would usually do something fun for thanksgiving after we ate our thanksgiving dinner and
talked and everything like that. I then had an ideathat I had been wanting to do for a while but I
didn t want to say it because I knew nobody would want to do it except me. But then I was getting
scared about the idea I had myself; the idea I had was to go in a hot air balloon. I don t really know
why but I suddenly had the courage to just tell them that I thoughtit was a good idea to go in a hot
air balloon. I was expecting everyone to basically laugh at me and say no right when I said it,
but I got a totally different reaction then I thought. My entire family liked the idea to go do it
but they all said they were to scared, but we could still go because they said it would be really
cool to watch me do it and anybody else that wanted to go up in the hot air balloon. So, before I
could basically even try to get over my own fear of going up in the hot air balloon we were
already on our way there. The best thing about it was is that where the hot air balloon place was,
people that we knew worked there so not only did we get to go there in the first place. Now we
go to do it for free, and I ll tell you what to go in a hot air balloon is not cheap. So basically, this
idea I had that I thought was never going to happen was happening right in front of my eyes. So
after about a 20 30 minute car ride to the hot air balloon lift off place; we finally arrived. When
we finally got there and all of my family got to the place to lift off we had to talk about all of the
rules. The rule that probably scared me the most was how you could not move around a lot
because the basket you had to stand in. The basket was able to break if there was too much
weight or there was too much movement and just other stuff that is possible. Also, another really
scary thing I had to do before getting in the hot air balloon was to basically sign a waiver saying
that if something goes wrong and I die it s not their fault. But even though with all

John Dewey promotes his belief that these kinds of active learning experiences are crucial for the
mental growth of a child. Dewey suggests experiences such as taking children outside to explore
nature and geography, and starting school gardens so children can learn about agriculture.
Nonetheless, One of John Dewey s main objections to the traditional model of education involves
its focus on curriculum over the individual student. John Dewey believed that the student should
participate in their own learning, and that the student own motivation was a large factor in the
amount the student would learn in school. Therefore, Dewey argued, the educational process
should be tailored to the individual student in order to maximize the student s motivation to learn.
One method of achieving this is to relate the curriculum to a subject of individual interest for the
student. Another issue raised by John Dewey was the school s role not just as a place for
students to gain academic knowledge, but as a place where for the learning of life skills and social
behavior. Dewey thought that such general life skills and practical learning were just as important
as the academic curriculum being taught. He also argued that the life lessons students learned
during their education would be a key factor in social

there are no gyms in that city. This might confuse some people, as they think about the thin, and

The answer is simple, they get their exercise elsewhere. They are very active people, while
Americans are often lazy, or only exercise without taking diet into consideration. Actually, before
1953, it was common knowledge that exercise could cause heart attacks and diminish sex drive.
That was until a study in 1953 showed that a fat and a skinny mouse ate the exact same, but had
a difference due to the fat mouse s unhealthy habit of not exercising on his wheel. Fast forward to
1980, and in the next two decades, fitness club memberships doubled. The only problem is,
obesity rates doubled as well. Billions went to trying to lose weight, and a fitness revolution
sparked across the nation. It was easily seen that gyms were expanding, but waistlines expanded as
well, and a decade later, two thirds of Americans were overweight or obese.

The Yom Kippur War
The Yom Kippur War also demonstrated that the Arabs could also hurt Israel s Western allies too

In 1976, Israeli Prime minister Yitzhak Rabin ordered invasions of Arabic nations. These
invasions led to the rescue of several Israeli hostages who were hijacked by Palestinian terrorists

Camp David Accords Egypt recognized Israel s existence. Israel in return would agree to give
back the part of the Sinai Peninsula it still occupied. Sadat and Begin also agreed that there was a

The camera tracks backwards as Szpilman walks towards us. It gives the audience the feeling

from right to left as we get the impression that he is searching for something. The director
chooses to track his movements slowly to make the audience feel as if Szpilman is moving
along in a fragile house just like himself. The camera tracks along showing the audience a full
view of him showing us the little steps he is taking just to get to the other room. There is very
low lighting in this scene which shows as if he is looking for something quietly without making
noise. Szpilman then finds something on the floor, so he bends down and this is shown by tilting
the camera down to a low angle. The director has chosen to do it this way because it makes it
flow with Szpilman s movements. Then the camera tracks and zooms into Szpilman walking into
the next room. When Szpilman finds a tin opener and uses it the camera focuses on it even though
it is a small object and not important. As Szpilman carries on trying to open it the camera is still

Analysis Of The Sun, Line, And Cave
Victoria McAlister
Professor Talcott
Ancient Philosophy
5 December 2014
Consistency in the Sun, Line, and Cave Plato s theory of the Forms showcases that acquiring
knowledge involves turning away from the world of senses and moving towards the Forms/world
of intellect. Within Plato s Republic there are three analogies: the sun, line, and cave, which are
intended to clarify how things experienced in the sensible world are less real than the Forms. All
three analogies are consistent through their descriptions of the differences between the
intelligible and sensible worlds. The usage of all three also enables Plato to guide readers
through the knowledge process, starting with a simple description of the sun and ending with a
full example of how man can reach that sun. Plato starts with the analogy of the sun, which
points out the contrast between the visible and the intelligible worlds. Within the visible world
man has eyes and objects to be seen, but man needs another object for the eyes to see the object.
This object is the sun, which provides the light that is required by the eye to view the visible
world. In correspondence, the Form of the Good in the intelligible world is equal to the sun by
the way that the Good allows the forms to be known. Plato specifically states, What gives truth to
the things known and the power to know to the knower is the Form of the Good. And though it is
the cause of knowledge and truth, it is also an object of knowledge (508e). Along with

Disability which was first published in 1987 in the New York Times. In this essay, Nancy Mairs

Nancy Mairs starts Disability with self revelations which show through her entire essay, like for
instance: I am a forty three year old woman crippled with multiple sclerosis... ; take it from me...
; I m the advertisers dream... The fact that Nancy Mairs mentions herself a lot makes her essay
lack objectivity. But the reason behind this is that few are the people who can relate to this
topic. So no one really knows what this is about as much as Mairs and all disabled people who
form a minority do. This tells us that the author knows what she s talking about. Since this essay
is addressed to people who don t know much about disability, its purpose is not merely to inform
us about the physical disability itself but also about the psychological effects of the constant
isolation and exclusion of people with disabilities. This makes the essay persuasive rather than
argumentative since the author only mentioned her attitude towards this subject. But what a
better way to do it than having a person with disability talk about his/her personal experiences?
Persuading people of Mairs point of view which is that disabled people should be included in the
daily activities couldn t be done by just stating objective facts. This kind of persuasion needs
examples. To prove that disabled people are unfairly treated, Nancy Mairs gives an example of a
crippled women who was stopped from doing what she wanted to do, though she was still

causes the movie to become a modern interpretation of Sophocles infamous play. Although the two
are different and remain unique in their own regards, there are several key aspects that unite the
movie and play. Without the presence of boundaries, the issue of relationships and the influence of
lies and secrets on the characters and outlying communities Lone Star would not have connection to
Oedipusthe King. An important theme to both Lone Star as well as Oedipus The Kingif that of
boundaries. This can be viewed in both a geographical sense as well as a personal journey. Sam
Deeds in Lone Star recently returned home to take up the post of his late father, the Sheriff of
Rio County. The town, named Frontera, lies on the border of Texas and Mexico, causing border
crossing to be an apparent theme in Sam s quest for justice. As Geoffrey W. Bakewell writes in his
article Oedipus Tex: Lone Star, Tragedy and Postmodernism Boundaries are crucial: crossing them
brings knowledge and exacts a price (39). Sam travels geographical borders in order to uncover the
killer of Sheriff Charlie Wade as well as to find out more about the habits of Buddy, Sam s late
father. Sam desired to learn of the killer of Charlie Wade, even if it was his father. However, the
discovery of Wade s body opened

The International Monetary Fund ( Imf ) Essay
Introduction:
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is an international organization created in 1945 to foster
global monetary cooperation, secure financial stability, facilitate international trade, promote high
employment and sustainable economic growth, and to reduce poverty around the world. The IMF
is governed and accountable to the 189 countries that make up the global membership of the
organization. These goals make up the IMFs formal rules, the informal rules allow more access for
powerful countries, such as the United States and Germany, to set their foreign policy goals through
the facade of the IMF. The United States and other powerful nations like Germany, operate on a
constraint conditionality that allows them to influence countries based upon their Western ideals
and practices of democracy.
The IMF requires certain qualifications in order for countries to receive financial help. If countries
want to borrow money from the IMF, they must meet a certain set of conditions: fiscal policy
disciplines like avoiding large fiscal deficits relative to GDP, redirection of public spending from
subsidies toward primary education, health care and infrastructure investment, tax reform, market
determined interest rates, competitive exchange rates, trade liberalization, liberalization of inward
Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), privatization of state owned enterprises, deregulation and legal
security for property rights. These conditions are known as the Washington Consensus,

Descartes Discourse Method Part 1 Essay
In this assignment I will give you, the reader my opinion concerning the positions of Descartes,
Discourse Method, Part 1, and Discourse Method, Part 4, his basic conclusion which ends with
validation of something much grander. In reviewing Descartes, Part 1, it s my belief he is
describing reason, which is instilled in each individual in society. If a person has a good reason
doesn t mean they always make the right decisions. Either way they make their decisions, no
matter what their opinions are. It s what makes us different from one another. If a person selects
something that is different, and shares their reasons why, it s all about conveying their opinion.
When people don t believe in what another person is conveying, concerning their reasons why
they came to their conclusion they have the right not to agree. This is why we have discussions,
even if their reasons are wrong; it s all about bringing their opinions to the attention of someone
else. In their discussion one person s reason seems better than the other person; it doesn t make
them smarter; it might be their views are better. I don t believe in one person being better than
another. When a person takes time to research a matter, they might be prepared to share their
reasons why their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I believe Descartes is describing the distinction between idea and matter in a metaphysical
consciousness and the physical body a conformity known as Cartesian dualism (PAM MS, 2017).
Descartes comes to the conclusion of his own belief the existence of God. He would go on to
discuss this argument many times; he believes he knows who God is. God is a being of infinite
perfection. Descartes states he was taught God is more perfect than him; he tries to articulate his
way of thinking (Bennett,

Plea Bargaining Case Study
The plea bargaining process is a crucial tool used in today s courts system so that the court can flow
efficiently without become congested with court cases. However, although plea bargains help the
court, they have been known to generate problems for the defendants in the court. A plea bargain is
an agreement between the prosecutor and the defendant in exchange for their guilty plea with a
more lenient sentence than what they could possibly receive in court. Pleasbecome a problem with
defendants because it causes a disservice to those who are truly innocent, poor, or even those of a
minority race.
Plea bargains are used for 97% of court cases at the federal level, and 94% of cases at the state level
(Smith, 1987). However, not all those ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think this would be an important and beneficial solution to help prevent coercion, sentence
disparities, and improper meetings. First, I would conduct research and place my findings
together to present to my peers. Since I am a student in college, I would find fellow students in
my classes who do and do not support my findings and create a group to help spread awareness
of the importance of this issue. After creating a support group consisted of different
perspectives, I would alter my research to propose a bill concerning the establishment of these
boards to oversee prosecutor s work. From there, I would address my local representative with
my proposition all the while raising awareness of the bill in my community to help gain support
through guest speaking at local events. After spreading awareness locally, I would present my
findings to news stations and newspapers to spread the proposed bill over the state of Mississippi

A Fundamental Change Of Direction Is Not The Basic Fault...
In 1981 a fundamental change of direction was brought to light when the House of Lords
provided two judgements both concerning the meaning of recklessness. Lord Diplock stated
recklessness with an objective meaning in concern to the s1 and s2 of the Criminal Damage
Act 1971. In the last 30 years, recklessness has become one of the most discussed issues in
criminal law. However, in 2004 House of Lords gave out a decision in R v G and Another re
establishing subjective test to recklessness in concern to the Criminal Damage Act 1971,
successfully restoring the subjective test recognised before Caldwell. Prior to 2004 a landmark
decision of R v G and Another it is well known that there were two main contrasting
understandings of the term reckless within the criminal law. The Draft Criminal Code 1989
proposes that recklessness should be the basic fault element for all offences . The first came from
the case of Cunningham, in which the defendant stole a gas meter of a wall in order to steal
money and gas escaped. The offender was charged with maliciously under s23 Offences against the
person Act 1861. The Law Commission considered the term malicious should be avoided and
replaced with the term reckless in statutes, starting with Criminal Damage Act 1971. Cunningham
recklessness demanded the conscious running of an unjustifiable risk. This type of recklessness is
perhaps now referred to as standard recklessness, but it has in the past often been referred to as

The Korean War And The War
The United States has fought in many wars throughout the years. The Korean War took place
from 1950 1953. It has also been called the forgotten war, as people do not recognize it like the
Second World War, the Vietnam War or the Gulf War. This battle consisted of North Korea, South
Korea and the United States. It was fought on sea, land and air. The Korean Warwas a clash between
the Communist forces and the free world. Additionally, the Korean War Veterans Memorial is
located near the Lincoln Memorial on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. (Nurses in the Korean
War). This memorial commemorates the sacrifices of the Americans who served in the armed
services during this time. It was dedicated on July 27, 1995. This monument is unique... Show more

My grandfather lived outside in a foxhole for two years. He stated that the winters were
extremely cold. Many soldiers were killed or severely injured. There was a lack of food and cold
weather gear. Consequently, the draft was enacted when the Korean War began. The response fell
short. It was during this time that women were asked to serve their country in time of need. The
Army Nurse Corps responded to the call. The Army Nurse Corps is an organization that provides
health care for military personnel, their families and also retirees. One of these brave nurses was
named Anna Mae Hays. She served in a hospital unit during World War II. Once the war broke out
in Korea, she organized the 4th Field Hospital in 1950 and participated in the Inchon Landing. This
hospital unit cared for more than 25,000 patients during the next ten months, one night receiving
700 wounded men. On June 11, 1970 she became the first woman in military history to attain
general officer rank. On March 12, 2013 she was inducted into the U.S. Army Women s
Foundation Hall of Fame (Nurses in the Korean War). Anna May Hays along with all the other
nurses who enlisted put the well being of the wounded above their own safety, whether on the
battlefield, in a hospital, or on a ship saving thousands of lives. Service woman faced long days and
heavy workloads. To accommodate the large number of casualties, hospitals had to extend their
capabilities. Without rest and nourishment nurses stayed on duty

Palm Oil And Its Effects
Introduction
Palm Oil makes up more than 50% of daily used goods, particularly food goods, but this is not
without effects on other animals, plants and people. Many people are completely unaware of the
effects of Palm Oil. This is the reason why more awareness of Palm Oil and it s effects, is
necessary. This report will look at what Palm Oil is, how it is used, it s positives, it s negatives and
sustainable Palm Oil.
About Palm Oil
What is Palm Oil?
Palm Oil is an edible vegetable oil, that originates from the Palm Oil tree. It comes from the pulp
of the fruit which surrounds the kernel. It contributes to the economic development of developing
countries and plays a main role in the diets of millions of people around the world.
Where is it grown? Why?
Palm trees originated in West Africa, but was brought to South East Asia towards the start of the
20th century. During the British Industrial Revolution the demand for Palm Oil increased. At that
time 250,000 tones of Palm Oil was being exported annually, this number has now risen to more
that 60 000 000 tonnes a year. It is currently planted and harvested throughout Africa, Asia, North
America, South America, Indonesia and Malaysia. 85% of all Palm Oil is produced and exported
from Indonesia and Malaysia.
Climate
Palm trees can be grown in hot places with abundant rainfall, such as Malaysia and Indonesia. This
is why there is such large plantations in places such as Indonesia and Malaysia. The reason that
Palm Oil is used

Debt and Usury Case Usury
History and Background To begin my research, I wanted to get a clear understanding of just
exactly what usury was and how it came about. The word usury is derived from both the Medieval
Latin word usuria, meaning interest or excessive interest , and from the Latin word usura, which
simply means interest. At that point in time, the definition of usurymeant the charging of interest on
loans, but over time after the legislation of countries to limit the rate of interest on loans, the
definition of usury came to mean the interest above the lawful rate. As it stands today, usury would
be found to mean the charging of unreasonable or relatively high rates of interest. The practice of
usury can be traced back over four... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Adam Smith, who was considered the Father of the Free market Capitalism and known for his
general advocacy of laissez fair economics, however, was strongly in support of controlling usury
(Jadlow, 1977; Levy, 1987). While he didn t want to completely exclude interest, he was in favor of
the imposition of an interest rate ceiling (Smith, 1937). Another reformist was Silvio Gesell, a
successful nineteenth century merchant in Germany and Argentina, who condemned interest on
the basis that his sales were more often related to the pride of money than people s needs or the
quality of his products (Gesell, 1904). His proposal of making money a public service subject to a
use fee led to widespread experimentation in Austria, France, Germany, Spain Switzerland, and the
United States under the banner of the so called stamp script movement , but these initiatives were
all squashed when their success began to threaten the national banking monopolies (Kennedy, 1995).
Usury Law
Generally, usury law is used for the most part in the handling of consumer credit cases that involve
the statutes and regulations which limit the charges that creditors may assess when extending
credit to consumers. There are many statutes and regulations which restrict credit charges. The
oldest of these are referred to as general usury statutes which are established to set the maximum
rate of interest that can be charged in any loan transaction in a

Community Ecology Lab
Ecosystem is made up of all populations living together and the physical factors with which they
interact with their environment. The ecosystem gets its energy from the only source, the sun,
which make it important. The sun plays significant roles in ecosystem functioning of
photosynthesis. In this lab, we will focus mostly on population and community ecology. Population
ecology is a group of organisms of the same species living in the same place at the same time.
Factors that affect the number of individuals living in a habitat are the population growth rate, size,
birth and death rates. Community ecology focuses on the interactions between organisms as to
preys and predators. These will lead to the causes that affect animals population; including... Show

Sargeant Reynolds. We explored and observed the different types of plants and animals in the forest
that make up the ecosystem. We found a diversity of plants and animals: millipede (apheloria
virginiensis), Darkling beetle, pine cone, northern pin, holly tree, and turkey tail fungus. (trametes
versicolor) Records were kept of the presence and absence of different species. Not all of the
species of interest were found during the observing time. The time and day that we did the
observation is also the cause of the absences of certain animals.
Purpose:
The purpose of this lab is to analyse and explain how the ecosystem work in our community. How
birth and death rates have impact on the living population. If the rate of the bug eating bird grow
larger then the population of the insects will decline. Discussion:
Food web is a network of food chains with a number of feeding connections amongst different
organism of a biotic community. The food chain starts from decayed plants and animals to the
micro organisms and then to detritus feeding organism and to other predator. There are three
trophic levels. Starting with producers, consumers, and decomposers. Plants such as holly leaves
and pine trees are types of producer that make their own food through photosynthesis and do not
depend on any other organism for nutrition. Millipedes and darkling beetles are in the next trophic

Cultural Anthropology Essay
Cultural Anthropology
Almost all cultures world wide have highly developed traditions of music and dance. According to
Mari Womack, author of Being Human: An Introduction to Cultural Anthropology, music and dance
carry much importance within a culture. As do other artistic forms, music and dance reflect cultural
and social organization. Cultural values can be conveyed in the words of a song, and the
performance of a song or a dance is dependent on the social context (Womack 226). Music and
instruments are of great significance in many places world wide. For example, the BaMbuti
foragers from Africa s Ituri rain forest have an instrument which they call the molimo which looks
like an extremely long pipe. The men of the BaMbuti ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When done correctly, it looks like an advanced version of the wave. These are fine examples of
Marching Band as the art of music and dance.
Marching Band is, in most high schools, on the fringes of society. Those instrument toting kids
spend countless hours fine tuning their skills, only to receive little respect from the rest of the
students. They are called band nerds. They are laughed at. And yet they persist. But why? Why not
give into the mainstream high school culture and join football or cheer leading? Why spend
countless hours playing and replaying their parts until their fingers are worn to the bone when they
could be watching movies, going on dates, and eating pizza? These were my questions based on
my limited knowledge of high school marching bands. So, I decided to use my budding role as
anthropologist to find out.
My first step was to select a marching band to study. Luckily, the local high school, Goshen High
School, has an excellent marching band which has competed at the state level for the last
decade. A friend of mine at Goshen College who was a member of the band helped me to contact
a current member of the band who could assist me by being my informant. For my informant, I
chose a student, Jordan, who is currently involved in the band as a section leader, but has been in
several other roles as well. Jordan also has been involved in the Marching Band for all of his four
years of high

overwhelm a large geographic area. Widespread infrastructure damage and casualties could
significantly impact a Reserve or National Guard unit s ability to aggregate. Even if able to form,

Additionally, Reserve units in or near the incident area my not possess the capabilities required,

Lidar Project
LiDAR is a remote sensing survey method that improved upon the advances of laser altimeter
data by being able to model fuel parameters. Models depicting forest fire behavior are invaluable
to resource managers. There are several forest canopy structures that are particularly effective at
modeling fire behavior (Peterson, 2013). These canopy metrics include height, fuel weight, base
height and bulk density (Andersen et al, 2005). High resolution LiDAR technology enabled large
areas of forest to be measured three dimensionally (Sima et al, 2014). After the LiDAR data were
collected from either a stationary platform or mounted to an aircraft, statistical regressions could
develop numerous predictive models that mapped fuel parameters. Su and... Show more content on

K means clustering works in this capacity by portioning n number of observations into k number
of clusters. Each n is associated with a k based on the mean. The analysis is complete when each
observation is assigned a cluster that is closest to its arithmetic mean (Nekola, 2004). K means
clustering results in several clusters which can then be assigned to tree, shrub, understory or other
related layers. The technology used to create such DEM s began with early laser survey techniques.
Remote sensing of vegetation advanced significantly with the widespread implementation of laser
scanners. Laser altimeters mounted on aircraft were used to measure vegetation and surface
patterns. The early altimeters were pulsed lasers that could transmit and receive several thousand
pulses per second. A portable computer onboard the aircraft collected the digital data from the
altimeter. The data could later be analyzed to determine patterns of vegetative cover, patchiness and
vegetation height. In Weltz et al (1994) tested laser altimeter derived canopy cover and vegetative
height against field data made using the line intercept transect method (Eberhardt, 1978). Weltz et al
determined that the altimeter measurements were not significantly different from the field data.
However, canopy cover was consistently overestimated by under 0.3 meters. Early airborne laser
scanners were effective at measuring stand and canopy height (Gaveau, 2003). Mean

  • 2. Neural Networks Are Used For Forecasting Abstract Neural networks are used for forecasting. The purpose of any learning algorithm is to find a function such that it maps a set of inputs to its correct output. Some input and output patterns can be easily learned by this neural networks. However, in the learning phase single layer neural networks cannot learn patterns that are not linearly separable. Back propagation is a common method of training the neural networks. We are trying to develope the back propagation (BP) neural networkto form a predictionmodel for prediction of various shares in stock market. I. PROJECT DESCRIPTION The stock market is predictable or not predictable is still a question without an answer. Most scientists and economists believe in stock is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This paper has deep study of the BP neural network in MATLAB, including how to create a neural network, how to initialize the network, training and simulation, and using MATLAB programming function and achieve the designed BP neural network. The last but not the least, it is proved that the research method and the established model are practical and effective by empirical analysis of several stocks. It not only simplifies the network structure, but also improves the prediction accuracy as well, owning good predictive capability and generalization. Deliverables for Stage1 are as follows: A general description of the system: With the help of the prediction model, we are predicting the future price of different stocks over a future period of time. To achieve this, we need to train our model using the previous stock prices over a previous period of time, so that our model will predict the future price of the respective stocks. We are using the yahoo financial data set for training our data. The Back Propagation (BP) algorithm is used to train the model that we are building using neural networks. We are modelling our prediction using the MATLAB. The user will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Un Peacekeeping Has Become An Important Component Of Conflict UN peacekeeping has become an important component of conflict management across the globe, involving complex multi dimensional missions with mandates to help establish long and lasting peace. Peacekeepers represent and help implement the values of international community in their activities in conflict areas. Unfortunately, some peacekeepers have engaged in exploitative and abusive sexual relations with the beneficiary population that they serve. Often these transgressions followed by impunity for a myriad of institutional and cultural reasons. The efforts of the UN to address sexual misconduct are either curtailed by their competences as an organization or deficient. This study argues that the UN would benefit from a new approach... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A conclusion and discussion follows. II. Sexual Misconduct In Peace Operations The record of peacekeeper sexual misconduct has a long history stretching back as far as the UN mission in Cambodia (UNTAC) in 1992 (Simic, 2009, p. 396; Hebert, 2011, p. 124). The UN was ill prepared for this behavior in peace operations. The UN Special Representative to Cambodia, Yasushi Akashi infamously said in 1993 in response to peacekeeper sexual abuse of the local population: boys will be boys (Neudorfer, 2014, p. 13). In 2000, the UN Security Council (UNSC) adopted Resolution 1325 to begin integrating more women into the peacekeeping process and mainstreaming a gendered perspective in the organization (1325 ####). In 2002, the UNHCR and Save the Children UK issued a report naming more than 40 humanitarian agencies exploiting refugees in West Africa, which served as catalyst for the UN and other agencies to make more effective policies to combat sexual misconduct (Spencer, 2005, p. 172). In 2002, the UN established the Inter Agency Standing Committee Task Force on Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse in Humanitarian Crises (Hebert, 2011, p. 125). The UN Secretary General (UNSG) issued a bulletin in 2003 to establish a zero tolerance policy for sexual misconduct (Odello Burke, 2016, p. 840; Spencer, 2005, p. 172). Additionally, an advisor was appointed to the UNSG concerning sexual misconduct by UN peacekeepers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. U.s Law On Public Sector A REVISION OF THE CURRENT IMPACT OF US LAW ON PUBLIC SECTOR (May focus on CRA, ADEA, FLSA, ADAA, IDEA, FMLA) Laws are basically rules that bind all people and help protect general safety in a community, organization, association, team etc. Laws also help to enforce all individual rights as citizens. One important thing to know is that laws are different across different regions, states and countries. The most important thing to know about any place, organization, community and country is the laws that govern it. State law for driving at a safe speed in Pennsylvania is 65m/hr when driving in highway. If someone drive above 65m/hr and his caught, he will be found guilty of the law and he will be charge. In essence, laws help to maintain orderliness and protection of human rights. U.S law helps to impact positively the right of citizens in public sector and also helps promote equality among its citizens (Publications.Usa.gov, 2016). The high rate of discrimination and favoritism in the past has seriously been tackled and reduced to minimum. Law has helped all individuals to be given fair hearing to employment. Law helps protect all citizens from discrimination due to their race, age, gender or even disability. The law has no respect for any individual, all is subject to act under the law without any preference or favoritism. All citizens are governed by law no matter his or her position in the society. Law governs all, and no one is above the law. Former ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Plan Of An Old French Word Budget Essay The word budget is derived from an old French word bougette , which has the meaning of that of purse (The Guardian, 2004). It is also defined as the quantitative expression of a plan of action and an aid to the coordination and implementation of the plan (Bhimani et al., 2013). These days, budget is essentially used in almost every organization as an aid of measurements when setting the organization s objectives and targets. Its use has allowed managers to bring about the objectives of the business in quantitative terms, usually on an annual basis, with a financial means of expression. Budgetary control on the other hand, is narrated as a system of managementcontrol in which actual income and spending are compared with planned income and spending, so that you can see if plans are being followed and if those plans need to be changed in order to make a profit (Financial Times Lexicon, 2015) and has in recent times played a greater role in performance management. At the same time, relationship between corporations and the capital market is on a rise, and has since resulted in many complications. This essay aims to identify and describe the merits of budgetary control, and at the same time, analyses the shortcomings in relation to the capital market. An organization is a combination of many divisions covering a wide range of functions and activities. • 6. Pathology Between China And The West Pathology Between China and the West and the Crisis of the Chinese Identity So the book I decided to do for my book review is The Afterlife of Images: Translating the Pathological Body Between China and the West. In the introduction of the book the author finds it important to state how she came to the point on writing the book. As the author was working in the National Palace Museum researching representations of pathology in modern art, a colleague pointed out a picture in showed a boy with smallpox. The picture was part of an exhibition at the time called Comparison of Chinese and World Cultures . In this exhibit there were two timelines; a Chinese and Western one. The aim of both timelines was to form a visual comparison of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In other words an image that was used in order to be able to properly diagnose and contain the disease through inoculation and that was a symbol of technological prowess in the eyes of the Chinese had become a symbol for underdevelopment, as the Chinese came to be identified with a vulnerability to disease. The goal of this book is to trace the development and the origins of the various medical iconographies that ended up connecting the Chinese identity with illness subjugation at the dawn of modernity. By doing so, it tries to point the various outlines of the varied contexts in which the meanings of medical representations were created and transformed in the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century. It focuses on the medical rhetoric, the study and application of persuasive language and symbols in medicine, and the iconography of missionaries in China that brought back to the West this perception of a sick China or otherwise known as Sick Man of Asia (Heinrich, pg 4). Furthermore, it also studies how these ideas found their way back to China through missionaries, early translations of Western medical texts to Chinese, and through Chinese literature itself. Ultimately, it not only tries to point out the importance ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Crystal Structure of Sphingosine In the PDBID 3V2Y, the crystal structure of the sphingosine 1 phosphate receptor subtype 1 is fused to T4 lysozyme. Fusion of the third intracellular loop to the T4 lysozyme rendered soluble crystal junctions (Rosen H et al, 2013) for the rapidly disintegrating microcrystals (Hanson MA et al, 2012). Structure elements of S1PR1 The structural observations gained from antagonist preserved structures of Rhodopsin like GPCRs show that the typical orientation of the seven transmembrane domains have significant overlap. The minute overlap is produced depending on the helix bundle, tilt and the specific interactions (hydrophobic and electrostatic). This specific overlap is important for co ordinated signaling by the different GPCRs (Rosen H et al, 2013). GPCRs possess an extracellular domain consisting of the N terminus and three extracellular loops. However, a number of prominent features are associated with the Ligand Binding Pocket in the S1P1 receptor. The extracellular region of S1PR1 is significantly ordered. This is due to the N terminus comprising a well ordered О± helix that projects the top of the receptor. This contributes to binding interactions and forms a helix cap, which occludes access to the amphipathic binding pocket (Hanson MA et al, 2012). The three loops, namely, ECL1 amidst helices II and III, ECL2 formed between helices IV and V and ECL3 in helices VI and VII, also make up the extracellular region. Both ECL1 and ECL2 are tightly packed against the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This essay aims to explore and critically analyse the impact of transnational industries and/or global financial institutions such as the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) in the sub Sahara Africa. It will explore the impact on health, economic, and environmental, political and cultural determinants on developing countries. A country in the sub Sahara Africaregion will be used as a prime example in dealing with some of the above institutions and their outcomes, and a conclusion given. Nevertheless, some political economists have argued that the continents underdevelopment is due to how the states were created with their political and economic link with industrialised nations. This as a result has led to industrialised countries experimenting ill designed development concepts in developing countries. Rodney (2012) argued that every nation has developed, however not on even economic grounds. He further stated that underdevelopment is used by industrialised countries to exploit other countries. Background Body (1600 1800 words) The word bank and IMF are the two main global financial institutions that lend money to various developed and developing countries. According to Wolff (2013) these institutions came into being in 1944 after the Bretton woods conference to establish a firm global economy after the world war two. The purpose of these institutions was to stimulate a stable development and offer unconditional loans to nations in economic crisis so as to achieve their developmental needs (Wolff, 2013). However, these never saw the daylight, due to pressure experienced from the US legislatures, also known as the Washington Consensus which as a result led the IMF and World Bank to lend money with harsh conditions. Bordering on torture and execution. They were unfair and biased, and could be brought on by little as an accusation and a neighbor. The water trials were that the convicted were thrown into a running body of water, since it was believed that their evil deeds would reject the water, so they would float. They had a rope tied around their waste for those who sank, so they were able to be pulled out. In the case they floated, they were occasionally executed. People believed that when people made a pact with Satan to gain their witch powers, the were given a witch mark so those accused of being a witch were searched, and if a witch mark was found, which could count as a birth mark or scar. But it was viewed as a witch mark and the accused was considered a witch. Another test is the prick, or scratch test. If a witch mark is not found, people used a specially designed needle to stab all over the accused, because it was believed that witch marks were insensitive and could not bleed. Analysis Of Jerry Sandusky Scandal In 2011 head coach Joe Paterno of Pennsylvania State University was fired after a scandal involving Jerry Sandusky brought to light allegations of child sexual abuse that had been in the shadows for as many as 30 plus years without any discipline. After Sandusky was found guilty and sentenced to 30 60 years, some question whether this incident could have been prevented and why it was kept secret for so many years. The Sandusky scandal is a good example of a concept called Groupthink proposed by Irvan Janis (1982) that describes a dysfunctional group process that can occur when group members focus on being cohesive, do not express disagreement or think critically, and as a result, make bad decisions . I do believe that had college football leadership been less uniform and remembered the fact that the lives affected by these scandals were more important than the game of football, there may have been less victims, and the resulting consequences would have been far less severe. The majority of historical scandals involving college football involve paying football players, cheating, and in some cases more severe allegations of sexual misconduct like those of Penn State and Nebraska. Nebraska had allegations of multiple players playing watch out while another player raped multiple victims. Many colleges have been caught in scandal only to repeat the same scandal over and over until the NCAA drops the ball on them. Coaches are known to have the attitude that wins are more important than anything else. Perhaps this culture comes from the high turnover level of coaches who fail to present a winning team. It is not only the coaches but teammates as well who feel they need to keep quiet in difficult situations. In the NFL, other examples like Tom Brady s deflate gate, Adrian Peterson s child abuse case, and Ray Rice s domestic violence case, are all examples of teammates and team staff knowing about certain situations and either not caring or pushing things under the rug only to win games. However, growing up in a world full of technology in high tech classrooms, children are able to have an advantage in learning. Schools and teachers are involving technology in their student s school work and everyday tasks. As they grow older, the effects in learningvary for each individual, especially in their adult years. Some adult jobs involve technology which affects adults in their learning especially if they grew up without it. Living in the 21st century, there are pros and cons of how technology can help you or someone not only learn, but also use it for literary reasons. According to our survey, 95.2% individuals grew up with television in which helped them have a basis on learning such as Dora the Explorer, Blue s Clues, and Sesame Street. Kids basically learned colors, alphabets, and numbers in a fun way watching their favorite characters on screen. Also in our first source, a man named K. • 13. Persuasive Essay On Online Classes Most people think highly of online classes; get to work from home, get to work on a flexible schedule, and anyone can do it. Though no one has heard the cons of taking one. I personally took three semesters of online classes in high school and had a horrible experience. Because of loose scheduling, poor communication, and the focus needed, online classes are not suitable for procrastinators. To give a better understanding, I will summarize my experience with the class. Me, being a procrastinator, thought to myself: I ll just work on the weekends and if I don t finish the class by the end of the school year, I can finish within the first few weeks of summer. This was a god awful plan. Unsurprisingly, close to nothing was accomplished on the weekends. Friends would ask me to hang out every weekend, and I did every time. Why would I want to work on my class on the weekend when I could be having fun? I would later regret this decision. On the days I stayed home and could have worked on the class, I completed nothing. On these days, I would tell myself: I ll just complete what I didn t do this weekend next weekend. This rarely happened. Thus, the cycle of getting nothing accomplished started. I disregarded my class for most of the first semester of junior year. With only nine assignments out of eighty finished after the first semester of the school year, I was immensely behind. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Target Description This law is a federal law, so I would want to reach out to the federal legislator Joe Donnelley. Defining the Problem/ Assemble the Evidence This law was intended to help new mothers, but there are still gaps in this law. Some issues come from accessibility, coverage, and support. The Affordable Care Act requires employers to provide mothers that are breastfeeding with a reasonable time and a space to express their milk. Unfortunately, only forty percent of women returned to work with these accommodations. I believe this is an issue because forty percent is an extremely small number and if this is a law, then that mean that various employers are not giving nursing mothers the accommodation that they are supposed to have. Women are also facing challenges with getting lactation support for no expense, which is supposed to be covered under their insurance. Why pass a law to help nursing mothers if there are no records of mothers having access to it? It is important for most mothers that their child is healthy and it is not fair to tell them they have access to something that employers aren t giving them. Only six states have passed laws expanding workplace breastfeeding accommodations to additional employees or extending requirements for employers. I believe that extending the requirements for employers to make sure nursing mothers are getting the time and the place is extremely important because it makes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For example, if a resident has a urinary tract infection or some other medical condition that contributes to sundowning that would need to be addressed. If another resident has different factors that aggravate late day confusion different methods might need to be used to help them that are not the same. Of course, sundowning can affect people differently such as types of behaviors that might occur and it would be important to know what those behaviors are especially if it is aggression. In addition, by knowing to look for the factors that could be causing it measures can be taken to try to address it or prevent it beforehand that would be the best practice. Tips for reducing sundowning: Try to maintain a predictable routine for bedtime, waking, meals and activities. The short story was first published in the Weekly Westminster Gazette, then later included in her third collection of short stories, The Garden Party and Other Stories. Her first ball centers on young Leila who has moved from the countryside to the city and is attending her first ball along with her cousins. Considering Mansfield wrote the short story in the early 1920s, and also bearing in mind that dances such as the one included in Her first ball were common among the bourgeois youth at this time, it is fair to assume Mansfield meant for the short story to be set in the then contemporary time. • 21. Analysis Of Mccloskey s On Being An Atheist In McCloskey s (1968) article On Being an Atheist , the arguments for the existence of God are rebutted and some compelling reasons are given in order to enlighten some other atheists who might be struggling to defend their beliefs. Firstly, McCloskey (1968) opens his discussion by asserting that the three main proofs (teleological, cosmological, and argument from design) of God s existenceare not the basic nor the right proofs with which to arrive at a vague (p.51) conclusion that states the existence of a necessary being. These proofs have not been considered by the serious theologians, but instead, they have been the excuse of the parson (McCloskey, 1968). However, McCloskey misses the point made by such arguments by assuming that such defenses are a definite proof of the existence of God. To regard something as a proof, one must know that the argument being made is certain and incorrigible, but the arguments made by the theist are said to be defeasible, not incorrigible or certain (Foreman, 2012). This mean that the arguments can be regarded as true unless a defeater, which if it were true, would defeat the argument (Foreman, 2012). Then, if the classical arguments used by the theist to advocate for God s existence are defeasible and not proofs as McCloskey claims, and no defeater has been shown to be true, there is no need to abandon such arguments. Secondly, McCloskey discusses the cosmological argumentand states that there is no reason for believing that the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

So, before I could basically even try to get over my own fear of going up in the hot air balloon we were already on our way there. The basket was able to break if there was too much weight or there was too much movement and just other stuff that is possible. Dewey suggests experiences such as taking children outside to explore nature and geography, and starting school gardens so children can learn about agriculture. John Dewey believed that the student should participate in their own learning, and that the student own motivation was a large factor in the amount the student would learn in school. Therefore, Dewey argued, the educational process should be tailored to the individual student in order to maximize the student s motivation to learn. One method of achieving this is to relate the curriculum to a subject of individual interest for the student. So this amount of sugar tells the pancreas to make insulin, which is the fat producing hormone. From there, the converted sugarenergy gets stored in the liver, and the excess gets stored in fat cells, creating, well, the bad fat no one wants on their body. The answer is simple, they get their exercise elsewhere. They are very active people, while Americans are often lazy, or only exercise without taking diet into consideration. Actually, before 1953, it was common knowledge that exercise could cause heart attacks and diminish sex drive. That was until a study in 1953 showed that a fat and a skinny mouse ate the exact same, but had a difference due to the fat mouse s unhealthy habit of not exercising on his wheel. Fast forward to 1980, and in the next two decades, fitness club memberships doubled. The only problem is, obesity rates doubled as well. Arabs states put an embargo on oil to the United States and Western Europe (Ross, 1996, p.47). There was a new weapon that could be used to draw the attention of the superpowers to the conflict. Oil had a devastating effect when its prices were doubled and its production was cut into half causing world wide economic and political problems (Ross, 1996, p. 67). The United States began to place pressure on the Israelto make concessions with Arabs (Blumberg, 1998, p.123). In 1976, Israeli Prime minister Yitzhak Rabin ordered invasions of Arabic nations. These invasions led to the rescue of several Israeli hostages who were hijacked by Palestinian terrorists in Entebbe, Uganda (Blumberg, 1998, p.127). The first Arab leader to visit Israel was Egyptian President Anwar Sadat in 1977. Sadat joined Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin and United States President Jimmy Carter in 1978 to sign the Camp David Accords. Under the Camp David Accords Egypt recognized Israel s existence. Israel in return would agree to give back the part of the Sinai Peninsula it still occupied. Sadat and Begin also agreed that there was a need for independence for Palestinians. This was significant as it was the first time an Arab country would sign a peace treaty with Israel. Analysis Of The Sun, Line, And Cave Victoria McAlister Professor Talcott Ancient Philosophy 5 December 2014 Consistency in the Sun, Line, and Cave Plato s theory of the Forms showcases that acquiring knowledge involves turning away from the world of senses and moving towards the Forms/world of intellect. Within Plato s Republic there are three analogies: the sun, line, and cave, which are intended to clarify how things experienced in the sensible world are less real than the Forms. All three analogies are consistent through their descriptions of the differences between the intelligible and sensible worlds. The usage of all three also enables Plato to guide readers through the knowledge process, starting with a simple description of the sun and ending with a full example of how man can reach that sun. Plato starts with the analogy of the sun, which points out the contrast between the visible and the intelligible worlds. Within the visible world man has eyes and objects to be seen, but man needs another object for the eyes to see the object. This object is the sun, which provides the light that is required by the eye to view the visible world. In correspondence, the Form of the Good in the intelligible world is equal to the sun by the way that the Good allows the forms to be known. Plato specifically states, What gives truth to the things known and the power to know to the knower is the Form of the Good. And though it is the cause of knowledge and truth, it is also an object of knowledge (508e). Along with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The fact that Nancy Mairs mentions herself a lot makes her essay lack objectivity. But the reason behind this is that few are the people who can relate to this topic. So no one really knows what this is about as much as Mairs and all disabled people who form a minority do. This tells us that the author knows what she s talking about. Since this essay is addressed to people who don t know much about disability, its purpose is not merely to inform us about the physical disability itself but also about the psychological effects of the constant isolation and exclusion of people with disabilities. This makes the essay persuasive rather than argumentative since the author only mentioned her attitude towards this subject. But what a better way to do it than having a person with disability talk about his/her personal experiences? Persuading people of Mairs point of view which is that disabled people should be included in the daily activities couldn t be done by just stating objective facts. In 1981 a fundamental change of direction was brought to light when the House of Lords provided two judgements both concerning the meaning of recklessness. Lord Diplock stated recklessness with an objective meaning in concern to the s1 and s2 of the Criminal Damage Act 1971. In the last 30 years, recklessness has become one of the most discussed issues in criminal law. However, in 2004 House of Lords gave out a decision in R v G and Another re establishing subjective test to recklessness in concern to the Criminal Damage Act 1971, successfully restoring the subjective test recognised before Caldwell. Prior to 2004 a landmark decision of R v G and Another it is well known that there were two main contrasting understandings of the term reckless within the criminal law. The Draft Criminal Code 1989 proposes that recklessness should be the basic fault element for all offences . The first came from the case of Cunningham, in which the defendant stole a gas meter of a wall in order to steal money and gas escaped. The offender was charged with maliciously under s23 Offences against the person Act 1861. The Law Commission considered the term malicious should be avoided and replaced with the term reckless in statutes, starting with Criminal Damage Act 1971. At that point in time, the definition of usurymeant the charging of interest on loans, but over time after the legislation of countries to limit the rate of interest on loans, the definition of usury came to mean the interest above the lawful rate. Another reformist was Silvio Gesell, a successful nineteenth century merchant in Germany and Argentina, who condemned interest on the basis that his sales were more often related to the pride of money than people s needs or the quality of his products (Gesell, 1904). His proposal of making money a public service subject to a use fee led to widespread experimentation in Austria, France, Germany, Spain Switzerland, and the United States under the banner of the so called stamp script movement , but these initiatives were all squashed when their success began to threaten the national banking monopolies (Kennedy, 1995). Why spend countless hours playing and replaying their parts until their fingers are worn to the bone when they could be watching movies, going on dates, and eating pizza? These were my questions based on my limited knowledge of high school marching bands. So, I decided to use my budding role as anthropologist to find out. My first step was to select a marching band to study. Luckily, the local high school, Goshen High School, has an excellent marching band which has competed at the state level for the last decade. A friend of mine at Goshen College who was a member of the band helped me to contact a current member of the band who could assist me by being my informant. Jordan also has been involved in the Marching Band for all of his four years of high ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. Complex Catastrophes The Department of Defense (DoD) will have a significant response role during a complex catastrophe and must be able to provide timely and effective support to that effort. The Secretary of Defense (SECDEF) tasked the Department to generate recommendations to improve its posture in response to a complex catastrophe, which were subsequently provided in the Defense Support to Complex Catastrophes Initiative (DSCCI). The DSCCI does not fully articulate the necessary changes to pre incident coordination and planning that will improve DoD s posture for supporting civilian authorities in a complex catastrophe. This essay will identify key refinements to the DSCCI, as well as recommend the addition of a communication synchronization plan, that will... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This methodology is problematic when the magnitude and scope of a complex catastrophe will overwhelm a large geographic area. Widespread infrastructure damage and casualties could significantly impact a Reserve or National Guard unit s ability to aggregate. Even if able to form, their ability to move and communicate in and around the incident area will be degraded as well. Additionally, Reserve units in or near the incident area my not possess the capabilities required, even in an immediate response authority scenario, and may be otherwise operationally committed. Sourcing priority should instead be base on which units are best able to provide the requested capability. This methodology will better ensure that the appropriate capability set is sourced in accordance with the needs articulated in the request for assistance and balanced with existing GFM ... • 52. Lidar Project LiDAR is a remote sensing survey method that improved upon the advances of laser altimeter data by being able to model fuel parameters. Models depicting forest fire behavior are invaluable to resource managers. There are several forest canopy structures that are particularly effective at modeling fire behavior (Peterson, 2013). These canopy metrics include height, fuel weight, base height and bulk density (Andersen et al, 2005). High resolution LiDAR technology enabled large areas of forest to be measured three dimensionally (Sima et al, 2014). After the LiDAR data were collected from either a stationary platform or mounted to an aircraft, statistical regressions could develop numerous predictive models that mapped fuel parameters. Su and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... K means clustering works in this capacity by portioning n number of observations into k number of clusters. Each n is associated with a k based on the mean. The analysis is complete when each observation is assigned a cluster that is closest to its arithmetic mean (Nekola, 2004). K means clustering results in several clusters which can then be assigned to tree, shrub, understory or other related layers. The technology used to create such DEM s began with early laser survey techniques. Remote sensing of vegetation advanced significantly with the widespread implementation of laser scanners. Laser altimeters mounted on aircraft were used to measure vegetation and surface patterns. The early altimeters were pulsed lasers that could transmit and receive several thousand pulses per second. A portable computer onboard the aircraft collected the digital data from the altimeter. The data could later be analyzed to determine patterns of vegetative cover, patchiness and vegetation height. In Weltz et al (1994) tested laser altimeter derived canopy cover and vegetative height against field data made using the line intercept transect method (Eberhardt, 1978). Weltz et al determined that the altimeter measurements were not significantly different from the field data. However, canopy cover was consistently overestimated by under 0.3 meters. Early airborne laser scanners were effective at measuring stand and canopy height (Gaveau, 2003). Mean ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
