My Mentor Essay
1. My Mentor Essay
Whenever someone hears about a mentor, the image of a teacher or a guidance counselor automatically pop up into their head. The image of a
mentor is often mistaken as a person of higher authority, however, this is not always the case. They are more than the individual you may confide
in or ask for direction in times of need, your mentor is your friend. The entire time while I was reading the poem, My Mentor, My Friend, all that
kept reoccurring were flashbacks to memories with close friends of mine. That's what struck me the most, the fact that it is okay to be able to
complete both jobs. This poem changed my perspectives each time I reread it, every single read, I experience it differently. Through the poem, my
goal was to obtain three ideas from the passage and take those and incorporate them into my own life, along with my experiences. The first point I
chose revolved around the welcoming arms of a friend, to the acceptance of one another. In response to this, the first memory that came to mind was
meeting my best friend. We met the summer of 2015, where we both were introduced to the drum corps activity, otherwise known as...show more

Immediately after reading this line in the poem, I automatically wanted to thank the special guy that I met the winter of 2015. The guy I loaded the
truck with every day that same summer. At that moment, I wanted to thank him for acknowledging my strengths and believing that I was able to
accomplish anything I set my mind to. Thank you for staying up with me on those 15–hour bus rides and checking in on me, whether it was just to ask
about my day or encourage me to the best member I could be. For believing that in me and pushing me to be the best leader I could be. Thank you, for
up until this day, you have put your faith in me and supported me throughout everything that I have done since we have

2. My Mentor Report
I have had several inspiring mentors during my academic career that have greatly influenced my teaching philosophy. These mentors exemplified not
only an enthusiasm for teaching, but also care for their students. My teaching philosophy is that I, as a teacher, help my students learn how to find the
correct steps for solving problems rather than provide them solutions. This maintaining this philosophy helped me to develop three key points of
teaching: providing a positive learning atmosphere, setting clear and suitable goals and standards, and making a concentrated effort in my own
improvement. A positive learning environment encourages student motivation, participation, and interaction because students feel comfortable to share
their ideas. I personally believe that learning from peers is a great way to understand material. Moreover, this interaction also allows the instructor to
discern a student's understanding of the content. To create and maintain this positive learning atmosphere, I have found it is essential to have
appropriate responses to student comments and questions, and to create frequent opportunities for peer collaboration. In addition to maintaining a
positive learning environment, providing clear and appropriate goals can help...show more content...
I believe the best teachers continually seek to improve their teaching skills, preparation, and materials. After every class, I try to evaluate my
performance by reflecting upon how well I presented materials to students, and how the students responded to my explanations and questions. Then I
make notes for future reference. This self–evaluation helps me improve my teaching skills, teaching preparation, and teaching materials such as lecture
notes and lesson plans. My ability to ask questions and provide an in–class activities has been improving through evaluations. The evaluation from
students and myself is an important motivation to become a better

This has been my second year with ACE Mentors and it has been even better experience than before. This year,I have taken everything I learned
previously and improved upon it. With the confidence I have gained, I attended the ACE Summer Camp, exploring other fields. I also learned about
lesser known careers in ACE such as construction law or materials engineering. In addition, using the advice from my mentors last year, I applied
and have been accepted into 8 ABET accredited colleges.I have also been chosen as the leader of our ACE team, helping me to improve my soft
skills. I hope to put these skills to use alongside the experience I've gained in ACE, to improve my community as a civil engineer. I am planning on
using the ACE scholarship

4. My Mentor Planning
Today is the day I meet up with my mentor and get things going. I am excited to start my journey in shadowing this specific field of work. I know
this will further help me decide what I want to do in the future. Today is going to be a day of planning. It is supposed to reflect what my mentor,
Ms.Perez does for her job on a daily basis. Though she does many different things, holding events is one of most productive and time consuming tasks.
There are many things that go into planning the event that are more than just setting up. There are a lot approvals and fundings from other companies
that need to go into making the event happen. One of my duties while working with my mentor is to make a list of ideas for an event(s). I am to give

5. Essay On My Mentor
There have been many people in my life that had served as a mentor to me. This one in particular has had the biggest impact on my life so far. He
was my basketball coach, Coach Ham. Our relationship ever since the first day I saw him has always been good. We both met at the Euclid High
School girl's gym. My sister had basketball practice that day and the coach wanted me to go up there too. When I walked into the gym, I saw him
sitting in an athletic sports chair on the side yelling out plays to run to the other girls. After my sister, Rashida, introduced me to him, he asked me
if I wanted to practice with them, probably because I had already had my basketball gear on from my previous practice at the middle school. I did
and but didn't want to practice with them because they were all older than me. I thought I would not be able to keep up with the other girls and they
would get angry at me or I would slow them down. After a lot...show more content...
He is more than just a coach to me. He is like family, my friend, and my favorite coach in the whole world. He has been a significant impact on my
life because he was the one that pushed me to the next level of life and basketball. He helped me become the person I am today. By teaching me
that basketball is more than just a sport, he made me realize that it is something I really love and want to pursue as part of my career. I hope to be
able to make it to the next level. He also helped to get a basketball scholarship at Eastern Michigan University. With his help, support, and
encouraging words I can and will make it to the next level. Even though Coach Ham will not be with me through the next stage of life, I know that
he will still be in my heart and mind. I can imagine him now in the stands at one of my basketball games in college screaming my name and all of his
old sayings. I know he will be proud of me and we will support each other all the way til the
