Essay about Human Resource Management
I.INTRODUCTION
People are the key to business success. However nowadays of business this is often neglected and
people are seen to be a necessary expense. A successful business does not just rely on a person's
power instead it involves continuous effective teamwork and communication. Storey (1995) defines
that human resource management is an individual approach to employment management which seeks
to achieve competitive advantage through the strategic deployment of a highly committed and
capable workforce, using an integrated array of cultural, structural and personnel techniques.
II.THE ROLE OF HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
Human resource management involves several of practices such as recruitment/resourcing,
administration, selection,...show more content...
It is necessary for human resource management to have a proper human resource planning. "Human
resource planning involves planning that assure a firm's needs for employees", says Madura. She
also includes that human resource planning consists of three tasks which are forecasting staffing
needs, job analysis (Madura, 2007). Recruiting and selecting the right employee is not enough. There
is a necessity to provide continuous training and development to the employees to be more
productive and efficient. With great training, it enables the employees to be more innovative,
creative, motivated and thus increase their working performance. Training can be through various
types such as on the job training, off the job training, job rotation and scholarships.
Human capital management plays an important role in the recruitment process. It is essential for
hiring, managing, training high performing employees. Human capital management is important for
hiring the right talent, orienting him/her to the organization, making a new employee feel
comfortable, training employees in order to constantly upgrade their skills, retaining employees and
making employees self sufficient and prepare them for adverse conditions.
III.APPRECIATE THE EMPLOYEES
A manager must recognize the employees with knowledge and skills and encourage them to use
their abilities. Organization and managers should recognize their successful business which this
success depends on human capital and

My Teaching Philosophy Essay
My Teaching Philosophy I believe that education extends far beyond the classroom walls, and
involves many more people than students and teachers. People should be learning wherever they
go, and should continue learning long after they've graduated from high school or college.
Education isn't something that can be quantified with tests or report cards, but is instead
something that people carry with them. It's a survival pack for life, and some people are better
equipped in certain areas than in others. People with a solid education are prepared for nearly
anything, as they will be able to provide for their own physical, emotional, and aesthetic needs. That
being said, I also believe that a crucial part of education does...show more content...
The roles of a teacher are so many and so varied that it is impossible to list them all, but one of the
most important is preparing students to learn, not only in the classroom, but everywhere, and for
the rest of their lives. Learning is not a skill that is necessarily instinctual or easy, and therefore
different approaches must be used to make learning easier and more fun for students. Teaching is
not a skill that can be memorized or made repetitive, and so teachers must continue to challenge
not only their students, but also themselves. Teachers that become complacent in their jobs are
not good teachers. Those who can find a way to make an old lesson new and exciting will have an
energized classroom, and will be reenergized themselves. Every child is different. That sounds like
an obvious statement, but so many ineffective teachers seem to forget this. Each student has his or
her own varying abilities, talents, and levels of competence, and it is the job of a teacher not only
to recognize this, but to help each student recognize this as well. If a child isn't doing well in a
particular subject, both the teacher and the student should work towards figuring out why, and the
teacher should accept the challenge of finding a way to make a particular subject more

Did the exhibition of your work to the public provide you with a worthwhile experience?
Yes, exhibiting my work to the public was a worthwhile experience because it allowed me to see my
project through the eyes of new viewers, as well as over–hearing some criticism of my work. Since I
had worked on my project for quite a long time, I became desensitized to my photographs. I did not
see them as revolting anymore, but during the exhibition, I saw a few disgusted reactions. One in
particular was an older woman, who after glancing at my images, made a sour face and immediately
moved on. Although I thought that was a funny reaction, it also reminded me that other people react
to my work in a different way than I do; I thought that my images were fascinating and beautiful, but
she apparently did not. My intent was not for my work to be solely revolting, but if that...show more

The ALC program was originally my second choice, but after the first semester, I did not want to

after CEGEP, but I found an interest for the arts that I did not know I had until my Universe of
the Arts classes. These classes not only taught me how to do research and write essay, but also
that I could be passionate about doing this type of work. Next year, I will be studying art history
at Concordia, and I do not think that I would have considered this if I had not gone through the
ALC program, and I also do think that the theory classes that I took have prepared me for
university and future academic research. For example, one of my teachers, Dr. Meredith Browne,
showed us that her doctor's thesis was written using the MLA format, therefore something that I
learned how to do in the ALC program could be used if I ever wanted to attempt a

Perseverance Essay
What is perseverance? Perseverance is the ability to go on when things seem hopeless. It is also a
measure of success, or at least how much sacrifice one is willing to make in the name of success.
As students, it is impossible to achieve personal success without having a goal, or direction. The
goal and direction that often propels us to achieve is perseverance. Perseverance is the ability to
forge ahead despite setbacks that threaten to undermine all efforts to succeed.
We are high school students and that means that the sense of urgency to strive for and to achieve
personal success is now. With this urgency comes the expectation of having to persevere. This year
has not been as easy one for us as a school body. We have been...show more content...
There is no shame in falling; the shame is in accepting the the fall as defeat. Nelson Mandella once
said, "The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time you fall." That is
the essence of persevering––finding the will to get up even though you know you are being counted
out.
Each day is a challenge for some of us. Some of you struggle to get up each morning and make it
to school. But you find it within yourself to do because the hope of a better tomorrow compels
you to do so. It is not easy to explain to teachers or other students that there was no one to wake
you up and see that you were ready for school. The moment you leave your house and step on the
bus, you are one step closer to realizing your dream, to fulfilling your purpose. That is what
perseverance is. It is the finding the strength to do the impossible because you know that all
things are possible. It is understanding that your tomorrow has great possibilities because of the
steps you take today. I had a neighbor whose parents were divorced, but it seems like both parents
divorced her. Her mother had custody, but she was seldom around. My friend raised herself. She
gave a whole new meaning to the phrase "putting yourself through school", but she was in middle
school. However, she had a dream of something better and it was evident that it required
self–motivation and determination.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Essay example
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is among the most extensively tested psychotherapies for
depression. Many studies have confirmed the efficacy of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) as a
treatment for depression. This paper will provide background information about the intervention,
address the target population, and describe program structure and key components. It will also
provide examples of program implementation, challenges/barriers to implementing the practice,
address how the practice supports recovery from a serious mental illness standpoint and provide a
summary. Although there are several types of therapy available to treat depression and other mood

According to Hayes, emphasis shifted towards exploration of one's interpretation of the world and
interpretation of emotionally relevant situations, and shapes experience. This second generation of
developments included rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT) developed by Albert Ellis, and
Beck and colleagues' cognitive therapy. There are many different forms of CBT and the target
population varies depending on the form. Some of the many different forms include: trauma–focused
CBT for children, CBT for late–life depression, and CBT for adolescent depression to name a few;
each form has a variety of age groups intended as its target population. For example CBT for
adolescent depression has the target population of individuals ages 13–17 and 18–25 whereas CBT
for late–life depression has the target population of individuals ages 55 and older (NREPP, 2014)
CBT differs from other forms of psychotherapy in the sense the sessions have more structure. Those
with specific focus and goal may benefit more from CBT. It is less suitable for someone who feels
vaguely unhappy or unfulfilled, but doesn't have any symptoms or a particular aspect of their life
they want to work on. CBT is effective for a wide variety of mental health disorders, including but
not limited to mood, anxiety, personality, eating, substance abuse, sleep, and psychotic

Community Needs Assessment Essay
Research Method Paper
A Community Needs Assessment
Research is conducted in a variety of different ways using different methods and methodologies.
How these methods are used is imperative to how clear and accurate research will be. Community
needs assessment is a research method used by many researchers that assists in finding gaps within a
particular target group within a particular community. Throughout this paper I will discuss what a
community needs assessment is and when and how it is used. I will also discuss some of the
strengths and limitations of this method. I then continue to explain some theoretical and practical
perspectives when dealing with this method and how it would apply when conducting your own
research in a...show more content...
When conducting a needs assessment, people's needs with in the community are assessed to see
where gaps lie and improvements can be made. If carried out and reported correctly these needs are
then bought to local government or relevant organisations/peoples attention, giving the opportunity
for programs to be put in place to benefit the people of the community. This is where the third step
of Finifter, Jensen, Wilson & Koenig (2005) process comes into place; the implementation of
projects to assist where the gaps were found. "Implementation of recommended solutions should be
the ultimate goal of any project to improve services and quality of life of a target population (Neely,
T R)." The more efficient all three steps are carried out the stronger this method becomes. "The
importance of disseminating results effectively using these guidelines cannot be stressed enough. A
needs assessment will have achieved nothing if the results are not communicated effectively (Neely,
T R)."
Theoretically, community needs assessments are a great way to identify gaps within communities
and improving the life of individuals within a target group. If there is a collaboration of all three
components of the community needs assessment model, Assessment, Dissemination and

Before taking this course my writing styles and habits were very different. I was the typical
procrastinator because I would wait until the night before a paper was due to start it. This did not
allow me enough time to properly proofread everything, which resulted in getting points deducted for
simple grammatical errors that could have been avoided if I would have had the time to proofread.
My writing styles have many strengths and weaknesses and I have been able to improve my writing

I can write a thesis that will give an overview about what main topic of the paper is and what other
elements will be addressed in the paper. From taking this course I have been able to improve
many of my weaknesses, but there are still some that I need to work on. Overall I am becoming
better at not procrastinating as much as I used to. This class has helped me to learn to take the
little steps along the way because then there will not be as much work to do towards the end.
This has also made me realize that the final product of my writing will turn out better because it
will have had more time to develop, which means that there would have been more opportunities
to proofread. I think by learning many styles of writing, such as paraphrasing, summarizing,

to correctly use all of these kinds of writing styles, it will help me in the future for other classes
because I will have the knowledge that I need to write these types of papers. I still procrastinate
sometimes, but not as much as I used to. I will be able to improve on this as time goes along
because I will become more motivated by seeing the end result, which usually would be better

Reflection Paper On Grammar
Flash Backs Grammar. A confusing concept to my own mind while walking into a new class, yet
an intriguing topic to learn throughout a course. In the beginning of the semester, I worried a lot
about my success in this course because my own grammar, rhetoric, and style of writing needs
work. I knew this class was going to put my prior knowledge to the test, but I was beyond ready
for the challenge. As I continue throughout the course I become more aware of the grammar in
writings and the purpose that grammar serves in order to successfully display the message.
Between a poet's decision to capitalize an improper noun, or an author choosing to use an ellipses
rather than just ending showcases the use of grammar and what it can tell the audience about the
written work. Before this semester, I would have told you that I did not feel very confident with the
usage of grammar; I may have had past experience with writing and attempting to use grammar, but
the task still overwhelms and troubles me. Definitions. Definitions of words change and evolve
throughout time, and the same goes for grammar and its definition. To come into a classroom that
revolves around instructing and learning grammar and its process, I had no idea how exactly I
would fit in with my classmates. The teacher asked us what we thought grammar was; originally I
thought the definition of grammar was the proper way to include symbols for writing like commas
and the use of different sentence structures in a

Personal Experience During an Interview Essay
When I think of the word interview I think of it as a series of questions asked from one person to
another to seek information. In my previous assessment we were asked to interview a fellow peer,
on their personal experience of QIBT so far this year. We were not given any question, but made to
think of our own. As we were interviewing our peer another peer was marking us on our overall
ability to interview. This piece of reflective writing will be an explanation of what I thought my
personal strengths and weaknesses were throughout my interview.

Whilst the open ended questions allowed deeper responses as spoken about above it was also
evident that these questions allowed Mary Doe to feel comfortable throughout the interview as she
was allowed to express her own open thought rather than having a written script of multiple smaller
closed ended questions. REF
The safe environment was carried through the whole interview. I concluded the interview by asking
Mary Doe if she had any concerns or further questions she would like to talk about. This continues
the safe environment feel, which I created throughout the whole interview.
Once finishing the interview I recall thinking that I had forgotten one major factor within the
interview, which was taking notes. This would have to be my only major weakness that I found I
had whilst interviewing Mary Doe. At the time I was so focused on eye contact, so it was really
easy for myself to just ask the questions and get lost in the answer whilst trying to figure out what
question to ask next. The lack of note taking in response to Mary Doe's answers left me forgetting
to listen one hundred percent as I was switching focus to what came next. When researching how I
can improve this skill there was a lot of positive feedback on how to strengthen this skill. One that I
shall be focusing on for future interviewing opportunities is to continually jot down small phrases as

For the proposal between my partner, Alicia Buettner, and I, we decided to find something that

Essay on Critical Thinking
The concepts of critical thinking and creative thinking are both gaining increasing importance in
the world today. Critical thinking allows people to understand difficult concepts in a manner that is
clearer and more defined. They can more readily understand those concepts if they employ critical
thinking. In all portions of everyday life, a person is expected to make independent judgments.
Those judgments are based on experience and knowledge. Without the ability to think critically,
every situation that a person comes across would have to be considered in isolation from all other
situations. When a person encounters a problem that is a new one, he or she may be able to use
critical thinking to solve those problems. One...show more content...
Critical thinking also helps in decision–making. Both problem solving and decision–making abilities
are vital to a prosperous business. Persons who are critical thinkers can make a difference in the
companies in which they are employed. Today?s corporations must first recognize that there is a real
need for critical thinkers. It is important for both the top management down the line. Critical thinking
must be taught and built in to the way the company or organization performs its business. In fact,
companies and organizations must embrace the concept of critical thinking. Critical thinking can
lead to success story after success story. This type of impact gives any company or organization
credibility. According to Supon, one of the fundamental purposes of teaching critical thinking is to
enhance the abilities of students to become critical thinkers. Corporate leaders, educational
researchers, employers, and parents have continually pushed teachers to assist their students in the
development of critical thinking ability. Critical thinking is a skill that ?involved not only
knowledge of content by also concept formation and analysis, reasoning and drawing conclusions,
recognizing and avoiding contradiction, and other essential cognitive activities? (Supon, 1998).
There are proposed reasons for the emphasis that is currently on critical thinking. Many factors can
be related to this emphasis. They include the societal factors of economic shifts

Day Care Essay
In today's society the majority of households have a family dynamic where both parents need to
work. It is nearly impossible for most families in America to survive financially without two
incomes. This puts many parents in a situation where they have to find extra help to watch their
children while they are away at work. "These days couples face complex negotiations over work,
family, child care, and housekeeping. It becomes evident that where traditional marriage through the
centuries has been a partnership based on mutual dependency, modern marriage demands greater
self–sufficiency" (Hekker). Day care becomes a necessity for many families, and the main concern

that is a very good quality that an individual can learn especially at a very young age. In life it is
healthy to make lasting relationships, and to socialize with other people. It is important that
children are given the opportunity to be around other children so that they can acquire vital
communication and social skills. "Even with siblings, you can't match the opportunities for
social interaction that a child has at day care in the home. Your child will be placed in a class
with children close in age and have opportunities to play and negotiate with peers each day"
(Cerbasi). My daughter is 3 years old and she is an only child. Day care is something that I would
love to put our child in, because for just even a couple hours a week she can be around other
children and have a socialization experience she will emotionally need while being around others
her own age. This is a valuable experience that we can't give her at home. Doctor Heins suggests,
"Play is very important, but the serious aspect is that we have to get along in a social structure"
(Burgess). For parents with only one child, day care can be a great option for a place where their
child will be able to socialize with other children their own age, enabling the

Essay about A Stroke
A stroke is a type of cardiovascular disease that affects the cerebral arteries, those blood vessels
that carry blood to the brain. A stroke occurs when one of those blood vessels in the brain is
obstructed or ruptures flooding the brain with blood. Depriving blood and oxygen to the brain
results in those immediate cells death, causing the brain not to function properly. Once parts of the
brain stop functioning, it can directly affect the areas of the body controlled (1). Astroke can be

ischemic stroke. This occurs when a blood clot (cerebral thrombosis) blocks a blood vessel in the

They can cause blood to seep out of the brain and accumulate around it, resulting in increased
pressure in the brain. This build up of pressure within the brain can cause altered brain function

occur quickly and may cause: sudden numbness, tingling, or weakness, or paralysis in your face,
arm, or leg, especially on one side of your body. Sudden: vision changes, trouble speaking (slurred

dramatically increase chances of prevention additional damage to the body (2). To have their
symptoms diagnosed, a person must first seek medical treatment. Only 20–25% of patients who are
admitted to the hospital with a stroke arrive in the emergency department within 3 hours of the
onset of symptoms (3). Once a doctor is able to determine what kind of stroke has occurred, it is
important the appropriate medicine be given. If the wrong medicine were given to treat a stroke

Psoriasis is a noncommunicable, chronic inflammatory skin disease. It is characterized by

the percent body area affected, psoriasis can be classified as mild (less than 3%), moderate (3–10%)
and severe (more than 10%) (Krueger et al 2000,). The worldwide prevalence of psoriasis is around

Classification
Depending upon the source, tar can be categorized as wood tar, shale tar, coal tar and petroleum

pine, birch, beech or juniper. It has been used in various skin disorders but there is increased risk of
irritation and allergic sensitization (Thami, 2002, Arnold 1997, Silverman 1995). The tar produced
by destructive distillation of bituminous stone that have fossilized fish is called as shale tar
(ammonium bituminosulfonate, Ichthyol). It contains around ten percent sulphur and has minimal
photosensitizing or contact potential. The coal tar is obtained from carbonization of coal and is
official in various pharmacopoeias including British Pharmacopoeia, Japanese Pharmacopoeia,
United State Pharmacopoeia, Indian Pharmacopoeia and European Pharmacopoeia (Raza et al

My Core Values
As I have grown as an adult and moved further towards success in my life, I have always
maintained a guided structure to achieve goals and tasks that challenge me. I call these my "Core
Values". This is a strict regimen or a belief system that I have instilled into my everyday practice to
complete any task that presents itself. Although not perfected, I have found this method to be quite
successful. My work ethic, responsibility, and my drive to further my education and knowledge
have never failed me. Life can seem tough and demanding on a very consistent basis, but I believe
that I have cultivated a plan to accommodate and withstand any trial
The first...show more content...
To build responsibility as a child I volunteered to take care of my family dog. Even though she was
the family's pet I took it upon myself to make sure she was properly fed, watered, and walked. My
mother was very proud of my new development as an adolescent. She became very encouraging
and would come up with other special chores around the house that I could be relied upon to
handle. To some children this would seem like a punishment, but both of my parents were so
supportive and persuasive that I looked forward to having the gained accountability. My father
instituted honesty and respect as monuments for responsibility. I of course struggled at times
with taking care of my dog, and handling some of my other chores. But my father always wanted
me to not only be honest with my parents, but also with myself. He stated that a lie would not
benefit anybody and it was disrespectful to tell a lie. He would tell me that a liar was the same as
a cheater, and nobody liked either. If I knew how to respect others and be honest, than my
responsibility would only increase. I asked why I would want added responsibility and my father
told me two things that changed my perspective completely. First, it was that responsible people
always tended to be more successful. Since I had always dreamed of growing up to be rich and
famous, I guess I could accept the added responsibility. The second thing he told me was that one
day I could possibly

  • 1. Essay about Human Resource Management I.INTRODUCTION People are the key to business success. However nowadays of business this is often neglected and people are seen to be a necessary expense. A successful business does not just rely on a person's power instead it involves continuous effective teamwork and communication. Storey (1995) defines that human resource management is an individual approach to employment management which seeks to achieve competitive advantage through the strategic deployment of a highly committed and capable workforce, using an integrated array of cultural, structural and personnel techniques. II.THE ROLE OF HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT Human resource management involves several of practices such as recruitment/resourcing, administration, selection,...show more content... It is necessary for human resource management to have a proper human resource planning. "Human resource planning involves planning that assure a firm's needs for employees", says Madura. She also includes that human resource planning consists of three tasks which are forecasting staffing needs, job analysis (Madura, 2007). Recruiting and selecting the right employee is not enough. There is a necessity to provide continuous training and development to the employees to be more productive and efficient. With great training, it enables the employees to be more innovative, creative, motivated and thus increase their working performance. Training can be through various types such as on the job training, off the job training, job rotation and scholarships. Human capital management plays an important role in the recruitment process. It is essential for hiring, managing, training high performing employees. Human capital management is important for hiring the right talent, orienting him/her to the organization, making a new employee feel comfortable, training employees in order to constantly upgrade their skills, retaining employees and making employees self sufficient and prepare them for adverse conditions. III.APPRECIATE THE EMPLOYEES A manager must recognize the employees with knowledge and skills and encourage them to use their abilities. Organization and managers should recognize their successful business which this success depends on human capital and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. My Teaching Philosophy Essay My Teaching Philosophy I believe that education extends far beyond the classroom walls, and involves many more people than students and teachers. People should be learning wherever they go, and should continue learning long after they've graduated from high school or college. Education isn't something that can be quantified with tests or report cards, but is instead something that people carry with them. It's a survival pack for life, and some people are better equipped in certain areas than in others. People with a solid education are prepared for nearly anything, as they will be able to provide for their own physical, emotional, and aesthetic needs. That being said, I also believe that a crucial part of education does...show more content... The roles of a teacher are so many and so varied that it is impossible to list them all, but one of the most important is preparing students to learn, not only in the classroom, but everywhere, and for the rest of their lives. Learning is not a skill that is necessarily instinctual or easy, and therefore different approaches must be used to make learning easier and more fun for students. Teaching is not a skill that can be memorized or made repetitive, and so teachers must continue to challenge not only their students, but also themselves. Teachers that become complacent in their jobs are not good teachers. Those who can find a way to make an old lesson new and exciting will have an energized classroom, and will be reenergized themselves. Every child is different. That sounds like an obvious statement, but so many ineffective teachers seem to forget this. Each student has his or her own varying abilities, talents, and levels of competence, and it is the job of a teacher not only to recognize this, but to help each student recognize this as well. If a child isn't doing well in a particular subject, both the teacher and the student should work towards figuring out why, and the teacher should accept the challenge of finding a way to make a particular subject more Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Sample Comprehensive Assessment Comprehensive Assessment Did the exhibition of your work to the public provide you with a worthwhile experience? Yes, exhibiting my work to the public was a worthwhile experience because it allowed me to see my project through the eyes of new viewers, as well as over–hearing some criticism of my work. Since I had worked on my project for quite a long time, I became desensitized to my photographs. I did not see them as revolting anymore, but during the exhibition, I saw a few disgusted reactions. One in particular was an older woman, who after glancing at my images, made a sour face and immediately moved on. Although I thought that was a funny reaction, it also reminded me that other people react to my work in a different way than I do; I thought that my images were fascinating and beautiful, but she apparently did not. My intent was not for my work to be solely revolting, but if that...show more content... The ALC program was originally my second choice, but after the first semester, I did not want to change programs anymore. Before I started this program, I did not know what I wanted to do after CEGEP, but I found an interest for the arts that I did not know I had until my Universe of the Arts classes. These classes not only taught me how to do research and write essay, but also that I could be passionate about doing this type of work. Next year, I will be studying art history at Concordia, and I do not think that I would have considered this if I had not gone through the ALC program, and I also do think that the theory classes that I took have prepared me for university and future academic research. For example, one of my teachers, Dr. Meredith Browne, showed us that her doctor's thesis was written using the MLA format, therefore something that I learned how to do in the ALC program could be used if I ever wanted to attempt a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Perseverance Essay What is perseverance? Perseverance is the ability to go on when things seem hopeless. It is also a measure of success, or at least how much sacrifice one is willing to make in the name of success. As students, it is impossible to achieve personal success without having a goal, or direction. The goal and direction that often propels us to achieve is perseverance. Perseverance is the ability to forge ahead despite setbacks that threaten to undermine all efforts to succeed. We are high school students and that means that the sense of urgency to strive for and to achieve personal success is now. With this urgency comes the expectation of having to persevere. This year has not been as easy one for us as a school body. We have been...show more content... There is no shame in falling; the shame is in accepting the the fall as defeat. Nelson Mandella once said, "The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time you fall." That is the essence of persevering––finding the will to get up even though you know you are being counted out. Each day is a challenge for some of us. Some of you struggle to get up each morning and make it to school. But you find it within yourself to do because the hope of a better tomorrow compels you to do so. It is not easy to explain to teachers or other students that there was no one to wake you up and see that you were ready for school. The moment you leave your house and step on the bus, you are one step closer to realizing your dream, to fulfilling your purpose. That is what perseverance is. It is the finding the strength to do the impossible because you know that all things are possible. It is understanding that your tomorrow has great possibilities because of the steps you take today. I had a neighbor whose parents were divorced, but it seems like both parents divorced her. Her mother had custody, but she was seldom around. My friend raised herself. She gave a whole new meaning to the phrase "putting yourself through school", but she was in middle school. However, she had a dream of something better and it was evident that it required self–motivation and determination. We have all been called upon Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Essay example Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is among the most extensively tested psychotherapies for depression. Many studies have confirmed the efficacy of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) as a treatment for depression. This paper will provide background information about the intervention, address the target population, and describe program structure and key components. It will also provide examples of program implementation, challenges/barriers to implementing the practice, address how the practice supports recovery from a serious mental illness standpoint and provide a summary. Although there are several types of therapy available to treat depression and other mood disorders, CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) has been one of the most widely...show more content... According to Hayes, emphasis shifted towards exploration of one's interpretation of the world and interpretation of emotionally relevant situations, and shapes experience. This second generation of developments included rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT) developed by Albert Ellis, and Beck and colleagues' cognitive therapy. There are many different forms of CBT and the target population varies depending on the form. Some of the many different forms include: trauma–focused CBT for children, CBT for late–life depression, and CBT for adolescent depression to name a few; each form has a variety of age groups intended as its target population. For example CBT for adolescent depression has the target population of individuals ages 13–17 and 18–25 whereas CBT for late–life depression has the target population of individuals ages 55 and older (NREPP, 2014) CBT differs from other forms of psychotherapy in the sense the sessions have more structure. Those with specific focus and goal may benefit more from CBT. It is less suitable for someone who feels vaguely unhappy or unfulfilled, but doesn't have any symptoms or a particular aspect of their life they want to work on. CBT is effective for a wide variety of mental health disorders, including but not limited to mood, anxiety, personality, eating, substance abuse, sleep, and psychotic Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Community Needs Assessment Essay Research Method Paper A Community Needs Assessment Research is conducted in a variety of different ways using different methods and methodologies. How these methods are used is imperative to how clear and accurate research will be. Community needs assessment is a research method used by many researchers that assists in finding gaps within a particular target group within a particular community. Throughout this paper I will discuss what a community needs assessment is and when and how it is used. I will also discuss some of the strengths and limitations of this method. I then continue to explain some theoretical and practical perspectives when dealing with this method and how it would apply when conducting your own research in a...show more content... When conducting a needs assessment, people's needs with in the community are assessed to see where gaps lie and improvements can be made. If carried out and reported correctly these needs are then bought to local government or relevant organisations/peoples attention, giving the opportunity for programs to be put in place to benefit the people of the community. This is where the third step of Finifter, Jensen, Wilson & Koenig (2005) process comes into place; the implementation of projects to assist where the gaps were found. "Implementation of recommended solutions should be the ultimate goal of any project to improve services and quality of life of a target population (Neely, T R)." The more efficient all three steps are carried out the stronger this method becomes. "The importance of disseminating results effectively using these guidelines cannot be stressed enough. A needs assessment will have achieved nothing if the results are not communicated effectively (Neely, T R)." Theoretically, community needs assessments are a great way to identify gaps within communities and improving the life of individuals within a target group. If there is a collaboration of all three components of the community needs assessment model, Assessment, Dissemination and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Essay on Self-Analysis Self–Analysis Before taking this course my writing styles and habits were very different. I was the typical procrastinator because I would wait until the night before a paper was due to start it. This did not allow me enough time to properly proofread everything, which resulted in getting points deducted for simple grammatical errors that could have been avoided if I would have had the time to proofread. My writing styles have many strengths and weaknesses and I have been able to improve my writing because of them. I have learned from my strengths and weaknesses how to become a better writer. In my writing, I have many strengths, some that which I have developed through this course and some that I already had. Before this...show more content... I can write a thesis that will give an overview about what main topic of the paper is and what other elements will be addressed in the paper. From taking this course I have been able to improve many of my weaknesses, but there are still some that I need to work on. Overall I am becoming better at not procrastinating as much as I used to. This class has helped me to learn to take the little steps along the way because then there will not be as much work to do towards the end. This has also made me realize that the final product of my writing will turn out better because it will have had more time to develop, which means that there would have been more opportunities to proofread. I think by learning many styles of writing, such as paraphrasing, summarizing, analyzing, and researching; it has enabled me to be able to write more broadly. By knowing how to correctly use all of these kinds of writing styles, it will help me in the future for other classes because I will have the knowledge that I need to write these types of papers. I still procrastinate sometimes, but not as much as I used to. I will be able to improve on this as time goes along because I will become more motivated by seeing the end result, which usually would be better grades. Overall I think that my most of my writing habits have improved and for the ones that have not I know what they are and what I need to do to improve them. • 8. Reflection Paper On Grammar Flash Backs Grammar. A confusing concept to my own mind while walking into a new class, yet an intriguing topic to learn throughout a course. In the beginning of the semester, I worried a lot about my success in this course because my own grammar, rhetoric, and style of writing needs work. I knew this class was going to put my prior knowledge to the test, but I was beyond ready for the challenge. As I continue throughout the course I become more aware of the grammar in writings and the purpose that grammar serves in order to successfully display the message. Between a poet's decision to capitalize an improper noun, or an author choosing to use an ellipses rather than just ending showcases the use of grammar and what it can tell the audience about the written work. Before this semester, I would have told you that I did not feel very confident with the usage of grammar; I may have had past experience with writing and attempting to use grammar, but the task still overwhelms and troubles me. Definitions. Definitions of words change and evolve throughout time, and the same goes for grammar and its definition. To come into a classroom that revolves around instructing and learning grammar and its process, I had no idea how exactly I would fit in with my classmates. The teacher asked us what we thought grammar was; originally I thought the definition of grammar was the proper way to include symbols for writing like commas and the use of different sentence structures in a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Personal Experience During an Interview Essay When I think of the word interview I think of it as a series of questions asked from one person to another to seek information. In my previous assessment we were asked to interview a fellow peer, on their personal experience of QIBT so far this year. We were not given any question, but made to think of our own. As we were interviewing our peer another peer was marking us on our overall ability to interview. This piece of reflective writing will be an explanation of what I thought my personal strengths and weaknesses were throughout my interview. Through reflecting on my previous interview I was able to pull apart both positives and negatives aspects of my interview allowing myself time to look into the effects that the negative...show more content... Whilst the open ended questions allowed deeper responses as spoken about above it was also evident that these questions allowed Mary Doe to feel comfortable throughout the interview as she was allowed to express her own open thought rather than having a written script of multiple smaller closed ended questions. REF The safe environment was carried through the whole interview. I concluded the interview by asking Mary Doe if she had any concerns or further questions she would like to talk about. This continues the safe environment feel, which I created throughout the whole interview. Once finishing the interview I recall thinking that I had forgotten one major factor within the interview, which was taking notes. This would have to be my only major weakness that I found I had whilst interviewing Mary Doe. At the time I was so focused on eye contact, so it was really easy for myself to just ask the questions and get lost in the answer whilst trying to figure out what question to ask next. The lack of note taking in response to Mary Doe's answers left me forgetting to listen one hundred percent as I was switching focus to what came next. When researching how I can improve this skill there was a lot of positive feedback on how to strengthen this skill. One that I shall be focusing on for future interviewing opportunities is to continually jot down small phrases as spoken, any specific information that is useful Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Critique Essay Examples Critique Essay of Process and Learning Out of all the projects for this course, I think the critique paper was the hardest because it challenged how I thought about scientific journals when it came to identifying weak parts of a study and how to critique the strengths and weaknesses within those articles in a scientific manner. For the proposal between my partner, Alicia Buettner, and I, we decided to find something that related to each of our health profession majors. Our research for the proposal revealed the importance of occupational and physical therapists working together in the field and the changing technology in prostheses within rehabilitation treatment. With both topics in mind, we chose to have our proposal addressing the need for occupational therapy (OT) and physical therapy (PT) students working together in a class at the University of Findlay that also focused on prostheses. After deciding on a topic for our proposal, the next step in the writing process was following the break down for each section of the proposal that you, the professor, provided our peers and us in the classroom. By discussing the content required for each of the sections in the proposal and the correct formats we were to be using during class time, my partner and I were able to gain a grasp on what you were requiring from our proposal. For example, Alicia and I spent a great deal of time looking over the notes we wrote down from the board to make sure we were following the correct guidelines for each section. The mini assignments also helped in reassuring that Alicia and I were on the correct path for the proposal. With each Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Critical thinking allows people to understand difficult concepts in a manner that is clearer and more defined. They can more readily understand those concepts if they employ critical thinking. In all portions of everyday life, a person is expected to make independent judgments. Those judgments are based on experience and knowledge. Without the ability to think critically, every situation that a person comes across would have to be considered in isolation from all other situations. It is important for both the top management down the line. Critical thinking must be taught and built in to the way the company or organization performs its business. In fact, companies and organizations must embrace the concept of critical thinking. Critical thinking can lead to success story after success story. This type of impact gives any company or organization credibility. According to Supon, one of the fundamental purposes of teaching critical thinking is to enhance the abilities of students to become critical thinkers. Corporate leaders, educational researchers, employers, and parents have continually pushed teachers to assist their students in the development of critical thinking ability. Critical thinking is a skill that ?involved not only knowledge of content by also concept formation and analysis, reasoning and drawing conclusions, recognizing and avoiding contradiction, and other essential cognitive activities? It is nearly impossible for most families in America to survive financially without two incomes. This puts many parents in a situation where they have to find extra help to watch their children while they are away at work. "These days couples face complex negotiations over work, family, child care, and housekeeping. In life it is healthy to make lasting relationships, and to socialize with other people. It is important that children are given the opportunity to be around other children so that they can acquire vital communication and social skills. "Even with siblings, you can't match the opportunities for social interaction that a child has at day care in the home. Your child will be placed in a class with children close in age and have opportunities to play and negotiate with peers each day" (Cerbasi). My daughter is 3 years old and she is an only child. Day care is something that I would love to put our child in, because for just even a couple hours a week she can be around other children and have a socialization experience she will emotionally need while being around others her own age. This is a valuable experience that we can't give her at home. Doctor Heins suggests, "Play is very important, but the serious aspect is that we have to get along in a social structure" (Burgess). For parents with only one child, day care can be a great option for a place where their child will be able to socialize with other children their own age, enabling the Get more content on HelpWriting.net

My father instituted honesty and respect as monuments for responsibility. I of course struggled at times with taking care of my dog, and handling some of my other chores.
