Middle School Graduation Essay
A is for awesome as it perfectly sums up my middle school years. While there were some bumps
along the road, I ve finally made it to the end of this exciting(2) 8th grade year. Throughout my
years at Sierramont Middle School, I ve experienced and learned so many valuable skills that I ll
always remember. I ve met people that changed my life, teachers that inspired and taught me, and
experienced the joys of middle school. While there were some people that annoyed me to the point I
wanted to explode(10), there were more people who left a positive mark in my life. The teachers I
ve had have done so much for me and all I can hope for is for all teachers to be recognized more.

Throughout middle school, I had many opportunities to earn(3) extra credit, but I ll never get as
much as I did in Mr. Lam s history class in 7th grade. It s like that class was made just for me!
Everyday there was a new assignment and if we showed it to him the next day and got it stamped,
we would get extra credit. I m very proud to say I got every extra credit option except the first one
since I didn t understand how his class worked. Despite his extra credit opportunities, some people
said they were struggling to get by. I was pretty mind blown since my grade in his class was never
below an A. While his class was already easy and I was okay with an A, I had so much extra time
that it would be ridiculous if I didn t do the extra credit. While it s nice to have extra credit, I don t
like teachers who give it for cleaning(1) the classroom or helping others since it doesn t have
anything to do with what we are learning. My 6th grade science teacher was the easiest teacher
ever since her work was easy and gave us extra credit for doing good deeds. That may be why I don
t know as much about what we learned in 6th grade science since all I did was slack off and get
extra credit. If only all teachers were like Mr. Lam, then everyone would learn and have a good
grade that ll impress their

I Believe Vision And College Alumni Into Accelerating...
Introduction
I believe vision promotes and excels college alumni into accelerating career pathways that promote
autonomy, innovation, and leadership expressed independently and as a team. Fostering the next
generation builds the framework for the assumptions relied upon to support the community needs
for career ready hires. In addition, vision aligns personal beliefs and career goals as a career
services, director. I would articulate, steward, and promote this vision to foster alignment with
stakeholders students, parents, and community leaders. In turn, encouraging career goals through
exploration through desires, needs, individual values, behavior and actions. Simply the opportunity
to lead in providing students with tools to make strategic and informed decisions about the career
paths.
Articulating a Vision I believe collaborative planning with faculty, career development officers, and
hiring recruiters from a shared governance perspective. In addition, to articulating, developing and
rolling out the vision and prompting feedback to measure those expected outcomes. I would start by
communicating with those who teach, requesting structured curriculum to incorporate career
opportunities relative to their courses. The effective avenues to reach the masses would include
forums, press releases, college open houses, career fairs, website presence, faculty retreats, courses
and college wide updates all areas requiring community/workforce collaboration.

Substance Abuse In Pharmacy
Substance abuse is an issue in every pharmacy! I believe whomever takes on the task of trying to
control the problem has a big job. Pharmacists are in the front lines of this big task. When I was a
technician, I learned how far some patients are willing to take lies in order to get certain controlled
drugs. In the pharmacy, I want to do three things to prevent abuse. First, I want to have an
organized pharmacy. When the pharmacy is in order of our counts, we are more likely to be
confident when we deny a patient who is refilling to soon. There is nothing worse than being
caught in a situation when you are not sure of our own records. Therefore, I believe being
organized in my medication count is foundational of a good pharmacy. Secondly, I want to
approve the selling of needles to patients. I believe in this method because people who are
addicted to certain drugs will keep taking the drug regardless of whether the needles are clean or
not.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Working in the pharmacy next to a pain clinic, I witnessed a lot of drama. The pain clinic was
eventually closed down for questionable practices. What I learned from working with the clinic
is that doctors sometimes do not understand the severity of someone s addiction. That s why it s
important for doctors to see pharmacist more trustworthy because we are truly the drug experts. It
s no wonder these days that everyone seems to be in pain. That s not say people do not feel pain
but pain medication abuse is more prevalent now than ever before due to the increase in heroin
users! Doctors and pharmacists must have quick and efficient ways of communicating. Even when
communication isn t an issue, doctors do not listen to pharmacist s recommendation. When I
become a pharmacists, I want to know why I am dispensing controlled medications especially if
they are in large quantities. I want to be a part of the decision making process the doctor has with the

Have you ever wanted to tryout for a travel team you really wanted to be on?Well,I have! It all
started when I watched the championship basketball game between the Golden State Warriors and
the Cleveland Cavaliers.I was so into the game,I was watching their every move as if a lion was
stalking its prey! At this time, I was watching the game with my dad and my brother. This was the
championship!! It was the last game of the 2014 2015 basketballseason, which for me was the most
exciting game of the season to observe. The team I was routing for was the Golden State Warriors

Van Gogh And Starry Night
While researching Vincent Van Gogh, I found out several interesting facts about him that I
previously didn t know. I also found out information on one of his famous paintings, Starry
Night . My goal for this essay is to provide information and insight into both van Gogh and Starry
Night. Vincent Willem van Gogh was a post impressionist painter. He was born in Zundert,
Netherlands on March 30, 1853 and died in Auvers sur Oise, France on July 29, 1890. As a
child, van Gogh had a bad temperament that stopped his pursuits in their tracks, and by the age
of 27 he was, or had been, a french tutor and a salesman in an art gallery among other things.
Many of his first paintings, such as Potato Eaters (1885, Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam),
reflected his experiences as a preacher. Some would say that his early work was dark and
somber, sometimes even crude, providing evidence of his desire to express the misery and poverty
of humanity though his eyes. In 1886, van Gogh went to Paris, France to live with his brother Theo
van Gogh, who was an art dealer, and became well known with the new art movements being
developed at the time. During that period, van Gogh began to experiment with current techniques
after being influenced by the impressionists work and that of such Japanese printmakers as
Hiroshige and Hokusai, and

Essay on Determination
Some people believe that talent and a winning attitude are all you need in order to succeed in your
endeavors, but a winning attitude means having determination, which many people lack. As seen
on wisdomforthesoul.org, Real leaders are ordinary people with extraordinary determination.
Determination is an important factor in the overall success or failure of a person s efforts.
Unfortunately, determination is not something that comes easy to the majority of people. To be
truly determined, a person must first be passionate about what they re doing. Passion, however, is
only the first step towards resolution and determination. One must have a clear goal in mind, and be
willing to do anything to achieve said goal. Once they have set... Show more content on

(www.merriam webster.com) This is synonymous with my personal definition of determination.
When the end is decided upon, there is no reason or desire to change said goal. A person under
the influence of determination is comparable to a train. The train will not change its direction,
as it cannot, and no matter what, the train will continue along the tracks until it either reaches its
destination, or is stopped by the conductor. For as an example, my plan after high school is to go
to college, and then move into the professional world. When confronted about possibly wanting
to join the military, my answer is absolutely not. Going to college right after high school has
always been my mindset, and there s no way my determination will let that change. I am the
metaphorical train, because my destination is set, and there s no chance for me to adjust my
direction. I will not stray from my goal, because it would mean wrecking myself and all those
involved in my endeavors. There will be mountains in front of me, and people I may have to run
over to reach my goal, but when one s mind is set, they will not waver, and neither will I.
Another dictionary defines determination as firmness of purpose (thefreedictionary.com). When
one is determined, they are ready for what life throws at them, because no matter how obscure the
path may be, they always have a clear view of their final destination. To be determined means to
always know

The Threat Of The Taliban
When Obama was elected in 2008 one of his main goals was to end all war with Afghanistan.
Currently Obama has decided to keep the troops in Afghanistan until 2017, extending after his
removal from office. According to the New York Times, his decision against the removal is an
effort to counter terrorism attacks. Since 2001, after the attack on the twin towers, the US has been
trying to fight against terrorism. After the attack, Al Qaeda and Bin Laden both hid in Afghanistan,
making it a hideout for terrorists. Before 9/11, Bin Laden and Al Qaeda had formed relations with
the Taliban. Today Afghanistan is still unstable and is vulnerable to Isis. Afghani troops, are not

and NATO forces formally ended their long running combat mission in Afghanistan, which began in
the weeks after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. That means the 2015 fighting season was the first time
Afghanistan s troops were officially tasked with defending their country with significantly reduced
help from the U.S. It s a test for which the Afghans have in recent months appeared ill equipped.
The US is currently playing a big role in Afghanistan, even with the 10,000 troops still there.
Multiple aspects are at stake when considering the troops withdrawal from Afghanistan. Isis is a
threat to America as well as a threat to Afghanistan. Even the Taliban doesn t agree with the
beliefs of Isis, they are much more extreme than those of the Taliban. If we can help Afghanistan
fight against Isis, we can help keep Isis from attacking the US. Within the past couple of days,
Isis attacked Paris and the whole world is scared, because it wasn t an attack on Paris it was an
attack on humanity itself. In the past there was also the aspect of oil that we could get from
Afghanistan, but now trying to fight Isis is the biggest factor. Another aspect is that Afghanistan
needs our help because we are the superpower. America is strong in everything military, socially
and politically, so it s our moral responsibility to help Afghanistan with Isis. It will also benefit the
US when Isis isn t a threat, because America won t be worried

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
In the neonatal intensive care unit, pain is something to be expected. The question is, when the
neonate is in pain will the nursing staff recognize it and how will they try to compensate for it?
Infants in their first few weeks of life can go through incredibly painful procedures at a time where
any amount of stress to the body can negatively impact their abilities to survive. In the past, painhas
not been held in high regards for neonates due to a lack of understanding in their
development.Fortunately, there are now laws in place by The Joint Commission on Accreditation
of Healthcare Organizations that state that there are standards for pain and stress management that
each hospital has to follow.Effective management of pain during procedures and after procedures
are highly important to improve acute and long term outcomes while focusing on minimizing the
neonate s behavioral and physiological stress.
There are many ways to manage pain in today s society. Some prefer non analgesic treatment, and
others rather manage their pain by taking analgesics as soon as they re aware of the severity of
their pain. On the specific topic of neonates, it is often said that their pain is overlooked. Because it
is so difficult to suspect whether or not the infant is in pain due to their developmental age group,
nurses are reluctant to take pharmacological measures without proof. There are a considerable
amount of pain scales accessible for neonates and neonatal nurses.

Theme Of The Metamorrphosis And It s A Wonderful Life
The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka and the movie It s a Wonderful Life, directed by Francis
Copra, don t seem to have a lot in common at first glance. One is an old novella taught in literature
classes, and the other is a Christmas movie, but if you look closer you can see they share common
themes of unhappiness, transformation, and dependence on family support. In both The
Metamorphosisand It s a Wonderful Life the main characters are unhappy in their lives, and go
through a transformation where they see what their lives are like without them. We will
examine the characters, the journeys they went through, and the different outcomes of similar
experiences. George s transformation in It s a Wonderful Life starts with James Steward s
character George s unhappiness. His job, which he never wanted to get stuck with in the first
place, is going bad, and he feels like nothing he does makes any difference. He is about to get
blamed for something he didn t do and is backed into a corner. This is when George s
transformation begins. His unhappiness is compounded when his business is failing and he is
blamed. He is threatened with prison and ruin. He is unable to keep it together for Christmas
Eve. He sees his life as a life of sacrifice for his friends, family, and the good of the town, and he
sees it as all for nothing. All his efforts are leading to his ruin. When he goes home after the
money is missing, and after realizing all the implications that are attached to that, the stress is
compounded by his family. His daughter is sick, the piano is playing the same thing over and
over. He is bombarded with questions and the problems pile up until he loses his temper. He
feels that he has the weight of the world on his shoulders and it is all crashing down. Nothing he
does is good enough, and nothing he has done would stop him from going to prison if he couldn
t come up with money. That is when he remembers his life insurance. If he died the bank would
be taken care of and his family would be taken care of. If he died he wouldn t be stuck in the same
old town, with all the responsibility. He stands on the bridge ready to jump and wishes he had
never been born, He gets his wish and is shown what life would be like

The Invasion Of Nazi Germany
The invasion and subsequent takeover of France during World War II by Nazi Germany was a
multi pronged attack that was built on a combination of swift and prolonged attacks of
psychologic and combative violence. Psychological violence was the Nazi s intentional erosion of
French identity, values, sense of community and morality. The spread of information through
newspapers and radios was crucial to the morality and organization of the people and the
Resistance and thus a primary target of the Nazis. Germany pulled the puppet strings of the Vichy
Regime to manipulate society particularly through the use of the preexisting police force while
gradually modifying the logic and focus of the force for their own gains. The combative violence of

But such wide spread death across different strata of society brewed hatred and distrust among
the general public. This destroyed any raptor the Nazi might have built while showing that few
were truly safe. This is particularly true of Nazi retaliations that seem out of proportion and
illogical. Consider the train attack by Resistance individuals in the small town of Ascq. At
night, a small charge was detonated that temporarily delayed a train carrying troops and
equipment. Though there was no physical damage, this was a heavy psychologic blow to the
already agitated Nazi Germans. Such a bottleneck along the track would have exposed the entire
assembly to farther attacks, disrupted schedules elsewhere and left the soldiers abandoned in,
now, enemy territory. The Nazi retaliation was brutal. Per the newly adjusted regulations, nearest
village was sacked and all the adult males were rounded up and massacred at the end of the train.
Nazi responses was quick and merciless carried out in a matter of hours after the original attack.
The actions of the soldiers was explained away by the governments as acts of self defense. As
Robert Gildea stated At Ascq, the first reaction to the massacre of 2 April I944 was a wave of
hatred of the Germans. The word atrocities was now on everyone s lips in a way it had not been
since 1914 18, and there was a sense that the barbarities of the war raging in the east were now
moving to the west. Here was a concrete, undeniable example of brutality of Nazi Germany. It
quickly became a recruiting point for Resistance groups. The death on all the males of a village
including a vicar and curate could not be readily hidden away. No longer could the general public
avoid the reports of other Nazi atrocities in other countries. And so, Resistance grew into more

Q3 * What types of communication are integrated within Sametime s digital environment? What
type of communication is missing? Does it make a difference? * Reciprocal it goes between
two or more people changing rolls. * Linguistic and extra linguistic People communicate through
key board (chatting) or using some familiar codes. * Private and public The communication
inside the company can be private when it occurs between two employees or public when it goes
to everyone in the organization. (In fact, it is not totally private because the conversation can be
followed for the database system.) * Formal The messages use a formal code according to the
organization policies. * Horizontal and vertical It can occur in a same range people or from boss to

What is missing here is the physical or interpersonal communication. It can make the difference
because when people talk they express a lot of feelings. The main advantage is that employees will

Effect Of Stress On The Rail Ballast
Ahlbeck et al. (as cited in Sun Dhanasekar 2002)[4] point out that that stress distribution (stress
response) under concrete sleeper is Trapezoidal shape uniformly until the foundation as
demonstrated in Figure 2.1.1 and the stress distribution angle (internal friction angle) of the rail
ballast has effect on the stiffness the dampingof the upper and the lower divisions of the rail ballast.
Based on this theory, Ahlbeck et al. initiated their model (Lumped mass model) which represents
only the vertical effect of the sleeper and the ballast as shown in Figure 2.1.2. This model cannot
be used in high frequency vibration[5]. Also, Ahlbeck et al. (as cited in Sun Dhanasekar 2002)[4]
find formulas for determining the stiffness value Kbl as well as the mass of the Trapezoidal part of
the rail ballast under a sleeper Mbl as: where Оёb is internal friction angle of the rail ballast
(Ahlbeck et al. recommended 20o), ПЃb is the rail ballast density, Eb is modulus of elasticity of the
rail ballast in N/m2,Bs, Ls, are width and length of the rail sleeper and Hb is the high of the rail
ballast as shown in Figure 2.1.1. Furthermore, Ahlbeck et al. (as cited in Sun Dhanasekar
2002)[4] determine the values of sub ballast mass Msb, stiffness Ksb and subgrade stiffness Ksg
as: where Оёsb is internal friction angle of the sub ballast (35o as suggested by Ahlbeck et al.),
ПЃsb is the sub ballast density, Esb is modulus of elasticity of the sub ballast in N/m2, Esg is

Virginia Woolf s To The Lighthouse Essay
She was not inventing; she was only trying to smooth out something she had been given years ago
folded up; something she had seen. For in the rough and tumble of daily life, with all those
children about, all those visitors, one had constantly a sense of repetition of one thing falling where
another had fallen, and so setting up an echowhich chimed in the air and made it full of vibrations.
(199)
What causes that crumpling? What makes the accumulated images fold up over the years? How
can one smooth out the folds? These are the pivotal questions raised in the above passage, which

Ramsay, the model hostess. Lily even feels like she is soaking up some of Mrs. Ramsay s glory a
collective, feminine splendor just by being in her presence. On the other hand, Lily harbors an
aversion for Mrs. Ramsay. For instance, this reproof surfaces during the dinner party, when Lily
observes that Mrs. Ramsay led her victims...to the altar (Woolf 101). Although both contradictory
impulses are strong, her criticism of Mrs. Ramsay gains intensity in the novel s end. Consequently,
Lily s wrestle with Mrs. Ramsay s invisible presence makes the two becomes antagonists (Andre
par. 12).
A general sense of chaos also creases Lily s life. Andre notes that the Greek word khaos denotes
an abyss, which is related to chasm (par. 3). This chasm, or distance, is the source of Lily s
conflict, because Woolf associates it with change. When Mr. Ramsay sets out to the lighthouse,
for example, Lily relates the distance with change: Already the little distance they had sailed
had put them far from it and given it the changed look, the composed look, of something
receding in which one has no longer any part (Woolf 166). Lily s awareness of the chaos deepens
it; she is aware of the disorder around her and the complexity of her responses to that disorder
(Gorsky 103). Her concerted effort to respond, to discern some pattern in existence, and, if
necessary...to impose a sense of order on the constant flux of daily life

Demographic Transition Research Paper
Demographic and Environmental Transition
Demographic transition involves the changes a less industrialized country undergoes regarding
birth rates and death rates from being an industrialized country. The change implies the reduction of
birth and mortality rates from a less industrialized country into an industrialized country with
reduced birth and death rates. Several countries, especially the European countries, exemplify this
mode of transition in their historical information. Besides, the changes involved in demographic
transition filters down to the environment in the long run. The surrounding environment suffers
from the expanded industrialization and due to the demographic transition (Smout, 2009).

Persuasive Speech On Skateboarding
Skateboarding Safety is always a priority when I come to skateboarding. Because one day my
brother and I went to the mall. So we can buy me a skateboard from Zumiez after we got to the
house. I said can we go out and skate for a little bit Levi and he said, yes we can just let me get my
board . Then when Levi got his board we put the rail outside so we could try new things on it. My
friend Ricky came up with his board and he said can I try a trick on the rail I ve been practicing it
so we said, yes you can be careful . When he got up on the rail the rail splitter and made Ricky fell
on his back. So he went home to make sure he was alright, and he has he had a bruise on his back
where he landed. We played until it was dark and my mom said: it s time to come in and get
cleaned up . So we went in and put everything that was outside inside and got ready for bed. The
next day we woke up at noon and got dressed to go outside. But mom said before you go outside
you have to do your chores. So after we did our chores me and my brother Levi got out the rail and
our boards. Then we skated on the rail for an hour or so until Levi said we should make a ramp I
agreed. Levi brung wood from the shed and some plywood for the surface also I got screws and a

Old Spice Commercial Analysis
In the old spice commercial Smell like a Man, Man , Isaiah Mustafa asks his audience if they
want a man who can bake them a gourmet cake in a dream kitchen that he built with his own
hands. He then goes on to answer that question by saying of course you do. He asks his target
audience this unusual question along with a series of other funny, sarcastic questions as he moves
from frame to frame while also continuing to define the image of a so called perfect man. The
commercial thus begins with a seemingly attractive, man (Isaiah Mustafa) standing in a towel
without a shirt, on the beach grasping a bottle of Old Spice. He states that he being an attractive
model man is because of the use Old Spice body wash. He then moves on to become a, camper...

They appeal to the women, and actually addresses them as being the target audience. We begin the
commercial with the Mustafa directing his questions strictly towards the women. The women then
become the interconnected audience watching the commercial. Women are then more likely to
purchase the body wash or encourage their significant other in their life to purchase the product.
As the Old Spice Company successfully sells their product to the women, they are selling the
product to wives, sisters, aunts, and even grandmothers. Usually when some commercials are
addressed towards women, they typically do not grab the attention of men thus causing men to
not buy the product. However, not only does this body wash appeal to the women who want their
significant other to be like Mustafa but also towards the men who want to smell more masculine
like Mustafa. The product is still made for men, so men are still likely to be encouraged and
influenced by the commercial to smell like Mustafa so Old Spice does appeal to both female and
male audiences. But trying appeal to such a wide audience can give a company quite the
advantage in the marketing business. For example, not only is Old Spice trying to sell their
productions, they are also trying to get the men and woman to choose Old Spice over every

Reflection Paper On My Writing Process
Reflective Memo
Description of my Writing Process
In my writing process, pre writing was my initial step where I had to find the narrative to write. I
had numerous stories in my mind, but I had to get the best, which draws inspiration to me, and the
one that could teach valuable lessons to my audience. So, I had to refer from that childhood
memory regarding the most significant narrative. However, I had to build up on the story.
Therefore, I had to use the myth worksheet issued at class, to make sure that my story meets all the
course requirements. Apparently, I had to make some changes (revise) the narrative, to deliver the
most intended life lesson to my audience. That is when I decided to plan and structure on what to
write down in particular.
The actual writing was my second step, where I had to start writing my draft. However, I had
several challenges at this phase, such as word count, grammar issues, among others. Apparently, I
had to write several rough copies of my narrative. Again, I had to get the best time and location to
eliminate any potential distractions. In fact, at this stage, I had no confidence with my narrative on
whether it will convey a relevant meaning to my audience.
But now the writing process was advancing well, and I started revising my paper. When revising
my narrative, I had to adapt A.R.R.R.R approach where, I had to add some words, rearrange my
paragraphs and sentences to consider flow, pacing, and sequencing of my story. Again, I had to
remove the irrelevant parts, considering whether the reader will acquire the required message.
Finally, replacing them with the relevant words and phrases.
My final step was editing and proofreading. At this phase, I had to check for clarity, grammar,
repetition, punctuation, and spelling. Editing and proofreading were detailed processes since they
were the last step in my writing process. At this moment, I had gained confidence in my paper,
since I had read it several times, affirming that it made some sense. Furthermore, I gave it to my
friend who is a professional to proofread, and he assured me that the paper was sensible.
Revising the Narrative
Apparently, I had to review my story to convey the message swiftly. In the initial story,

price paid for the purchases is considering be base for all future accounting.
Object Evidence Principle This principle states accounting will be on the basis of objective
evidence. If different people are looking at the evidence all will arrive at the same conclusion for
the transaction. This means objective accounting entries on facts and not personal feelings, or
opinions. The source document for transactions is usually the best objective evidence available

Materiality Principle Materiality principle allows accountants to use generally accepted principles
for determining immaterial cost in a budget. An auditor tracking individual staples or gem clips is a
mundane task; materiality permits certain transactions to be left out of the organizations financial

Examples Of Grief In Hamlet
Grief It s ironic that Elizabeth Kubler Ross theory, of the five stages of grief is present in the
story Hamlet by William Shakespeare after so many centuries later. Hamlet is believed to be the
most dramatic play in history, and comes with many personal conflicts that people still today will
struggle with. In Hamlet , the main character, Hamlet goes through the 5 stages of griefthroughout
the story. Elizabeth Kubler Ross developed a theory based on how she believes to be the stages of
acceptanceof death. The 5 stages of grief and loss are: 1. Denial and isolation; 2. Anger; 3.
Bargaining; 4. Depression; 5. Acceptance. People who are grieving do not necessarily go through

We feel like we don t care about much of anything and wish life would just hurry up and pass on
by (Hibbert,2005) These are characteristics of the 4th stage which is Depression, and Hamlet
shows awfully a lot of these symptoms. It is obvious that at the beginning of the play Hamlet is
depressed for the passing of his father like every son would be. Hamlet s depression is first
notice in Act 1, Claudius tells Hamlet How is it that the clouds still hang on you? Claudius then
continues to address Hamlet that the death of a close one is part of human nature. Claudius fails
to see the real factors of Hamlet s depression, and the whole kingdom shows no sympathy
towards him. Claudius feels as if Hamlet is too wrapped up in his father s death, and feel as if he
should be over it by now. However, Hamlet feels that everyone has moved on to quickly, which
adds more pain to Hamlet s depression. Hamlet s feeling of hopelessness increases throughout the
story, from the ghost s confession to the death of Ophelia. When Hamlet tries to pick up the
pieces of his shattered life, it seems as if there s no way out of the madness. Hamlet views his
world as a prison, because he is surrounded by people that have shown to be disloyal. Depression
major symptom is the thoughts of self harm and suicidal thoughts. Hamlet is indeed contemplating
suicide through all his soliloquy, but never does

Kaze No Denwa Short Story
Kaze No Denwa
It is April 11, 2011, and one month has passed since the great Japanese tsunami splintered the
island. In a small coastal village, a man parks his car at a distance and walks towards the only
object in a large field: Kaze No Denwa, the Phone of the Wind. Tears begin to well in his eyes as
he feels the gentle breeze wash over him. His shoes crunch the loose gravel underfoot. On this day,
there is no one else around.
In the middle of the field stands a white phone booth. It glows boldly in the bright afternoon
sunlight. The man walks along a winding path through low cut, manicured underbrush. He
reaches the phone booth, slides open the door, and enters. He takes his time, looks around, and
finally picks up the receiver from atop an old fashioned black rotary phone. He places a finger
into a small circle at his desired number, gently spins clockwise, releases, and repeats nine times.
The phone in Kaze No Denwa is connected to nothing; there is no electricity here, no dial tone
even, but the man is not surprised.
If you can hear me, he says, please listen carefully.
He stops, looks around the tiny phone box, and sobs, wiping the tears from his eyes with a sleeve.
Please, let me hear your voice say Daddy again. He covers his eyes with the sleeve and gently
whispers, I m so sorry I couldn t save you. I will forever be sorry and shamed. His head falls, his
eyes close.
His name is Satsuko. He has travelled far to visit Kaze No Denwa. The great tsunami has brought
havoc and, with it, many lives have gone to that place where spirits reside. Sadness has punctuated
the land, and Satsuko is in its midst. His face and demeanour are altered. Kaze No Denwa, the
Phone of the Wind is becoming well known. Its back story and sentiment have resonated with the
people.
He read about it in a magazine published the year prior; the story of an old man s burning wish,
long before the tsunami, to communicate with his deceased relative. A phone booth was set in
the middle of a field tilled by hand and hoe for generations, a place for the old man to air his
grief, where his breath could catch the wind and set out across the field, down the cliff face, and
across the vast blue Pacific.
Satsuko moves slowly.

Whilst in Paris, Reinhardt collaborated with numerous American jazz musicians including
saxophonists Benny Carter and Coleman Hawkins, and cornetist Rex Stewart. Due to the
prevalence of Jazz in America, it could be argued that future generations of jazz guitarists were
influenced more by Charles Christian and other American jazz guitarists than Django, however,
Reinhardt s influence was transmitted via these musicians with Mary Osborne recalling a
concert in Bismark during the late 1930 s when Christian performed a note for note version of
Reinhardt s recording of St. Louis Blues .9 This was also the case with Les Paul who learnt
Django s solos by listening to his recordings and went on to perform them across America. There
are a myriad of other celebrated guitar players who have cited Reinhardt as an inspiration for their
music including Wes Montgomery, Chet Atkins, B.B. King, John McLaughlin, Carlos Santana,
Vernon Reid, Andres Segovia and guitar legend Jeff Beck who claimed that, after listing through
all of his own inspirations, of course, it all started with Django. 10 The influence of Django
Reinhardt has also been transmitted through popular culture with Django s music being used in a

mainstream films such as The Matrix, The Aviator and Chocolat. This has allowed Reinhardt s

Machines Overcoming Humans

Apple Inc. s Ongoing Conversation With Consumers
On September 9th, 2014 Apple announced the upcoming release of its newest personal device, the

THE WATCH IS COMING followed by the release date, 4.24.2015, and then the Apple Watch logo.
This essay will examine why this advertisement can be so simple and yet communicate so much by
looking at how this Apple Watch advertisement fits into the larger context of Apple Inc. s ongoing
conversation with consumers.
The first reason this advertisement is so effective is that, since the very successful release of the
iPod in 2001, Apple has been remarkably consistent in its branding and advertisements of personal
devices. So consistent that if you review the initial commercials of the iPod, iPhone, iPad, and now
Apple Watch there is an identifiable parallel structure to them all that has become increasingly
simple and clear over time. The first commercial for the iPod was the silhouette of a person dancing
with an iPod against a single colored background follow by iPod + iTunes , then the Apple logo.
The first iPhone commercial was a string of movie clips of people answering a phone followed
by an image of the first iPhone then Hello , Coming in June , and ending with the Apple logo

The Iron Curtain Analysis
Description: The artwork that I am criticizing is the Wall of Oil Barrels The Iron Curtain by
Christo and Jeanne Claude. The location of this barricade was in Rue Visconti, Paris, between
Rue Bonaparte and Rue de Seine. Rue Visconti is a one way street that is 140 meters long and 3

oil barrels were stacked on top of each other, forming a wall/barricade of some sort. Christo and

horizontal and vertical line of healthcare facilities and services to better deliver seamless healthcare
to patients. An example to use is Texas Health Resources since its found in most corners of the
Metroplex. With any large corporation and system comes confusion and other problems: such as
regulatory obstacles, the complexity of operations, and unclear financial ownerships. Integrated
healthcare systems appear at face value to be the solution to curbing the ... Show more content on

Horizontal integrations mean that all services, facilities, and other patient care needs are acquired
and merged into the integrated system. An example would be a general hospital acquiring or
partnering with other specialized sources of healthcare such as, outpatient facilities, pharmacies,
specialty offices, oncology centers, and diagnostic labs and services. A vertical integration means
to apply factors that do not directly affect patient care, such as medical supplies and drugs,
insurance, financial services, emergency services such as ambulances, and administration
responsibilities. A system that can implement both can afford to provide lower cost care while
maintaining quality, if the system gets to large enough it can also help curb the availability of
care. In the Dallas Fort Worth area one can see a growth in Texas Health Resources or THR, they
own several large general hospitals, along with free standing ERs, sports medicine offices, a heart
hospital, and many other facilities in the

Challenges In Behold The Dreamers
Not only do adolescents face challenges in the city of Woodburn, but so do parents and any
immigrant individual. In chapter twenty of Behold the Dreamers Jende and Neni get in
argument because Liomi heard his mom on the phone saying that they were returning to
Cameroon, the country they escaped from for a better opportunity. Jende gets very upset with
Neni as he says the following is that what you think? You think we should tell a child his father
might be deported? You want Liomi to know what s happening to me? (Mbue, 2016, p. 128).
Jende s and Neni s fear of immigration is definitely a fear many immigrant families have always
had in the city of Woodburn for many years. these families are scared to be separated and to
come to an end in their American Dream . Neni and Jende fear for their son because they want
him to get a good education and to grow up in a country with opportunities. Their dream is for
Liomi to not grow up in a poor city like they did. Their dream is also to become someone in life
and to own their own house, which is something many families in the city of Woodburn are also
eager for.
The life of Jende and Neni in the novel Behold the Dreamers is very similar to the life in the city
of Woodburn, which I think is interesting because Jende and Nenis life experience took place in a
much bigger city than Woodburn New York city
. But, the dreams, expectations, issues, and fears
are very similar between both cities and families. As the city of Woodburn and

Cinderella Analysis
For centuries, the fairy tale Cinderella, that everyone has come to know and love has been told in
many different countries and in a variety of ways. Although each story is different, they all have
similar meaning and each one demonstrates how universal the Cinderella story is, as well as how
unique each version is to the particular culture out which it grew (Tam and Cam, 2012 Pg 194).
Little girls all over the world are told some type of Cinderellastory and they grow up dreaming that
one day they ll be a princess just like the characters in the stories. They will find their prince
charming to sweep them off their feet. However, these manipulative stories tend to teach girls that
they do not need to be dependent on a man to take care... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Along with the false message of beauty, there is this idea that your life can just magically
become better with the snap of your fairy god mothers fingers. The problem with this idea is that
there is no such thing as a fairy god mother in real life. There should not be a single woman out
there who waits on someone else to make their future better Fairy tales are more fables that
transform lives with supernatural events. Modern versions of Cinderella grant her wishes
without requiring her to take all active role in determining her future (Coady, 2009 Pg 4). Every
girl should be taking steps today to become a better person and improve her live for tomorrow.
Over generations, fairy tales and folk stories have given the wrong impression to their audiences
and since they are classics these stories are continuously passed down. Every young girl can
remember a times in their life when Cinderella was, indeed, the women they wanted to become.
The fancy dresses, marvelous lifestyle, and a Prince Charming to keep them safe. Even though
there is many different versions of this story, the same message is clear throughout all of them.
Each country or culture may change a few minor details within the fairy tale, but the men always
manage to save the women and become the hero. In a sense, this story is teaching girls all over the
world that they cannot be independent or successful on their own. In reality, this is incorrect,
women of all ages can be successful and support

Tourette Syndrome Essay
Syndromes do not define who a person is. Tourette s is a syndrome that affects a person s
compulsion control. Dr. Sacks, the neurologist who wrote A Surgeon s Life has an interest in the
disorder, and befriended a surgeon with Tourette s. Tourette Syndrome is a part of a person, but
Dr. Bennet shows that it is not who the person is. Those affected by Tourette Syndrome are most
commonly categorized as having compulsions, or a lack of control over certain words and
phrases. They act as one...driven to do this, to do that, against one s will (1). Specifically, they are
afflicted with tics, involuntary repetition of words and actions, and involuntary cursing. The
syndrome is a biopsychosocial disorder: a mixture of a biological,... Show more content on

A thing that helped Dr. Bennet cope was through rhythmic movement, for instance driving a car
with no traffic or riding a stationary bike while reading and smoking a pipe. Along with his
nervous tics, Dr. Bennet suffers from a strange name compulsion where he locks onto a strange
name or word and repeats it for months. He also has violent tendencies, though it should be
noted not at other people, rather he would throw inanimate objects at fridges or kick holes in the
wall. Tourette s Syndrome did not stop Dr. Bennet from being a brilliant surgeon, however, and
he is heavily praised by those he s helped. Dr. Bennet s gifts are remarkable and have even
amazed other doctors, for instance, Dr. Sacks. Dr. Sacks, a neurologist, has had a long standing
interest in Tourette and had met Dr. Bennet at a conference. Sacks was shocked that Bennet was
a surgeon, and accepted his invitation to visit his hometown to see how Bennet coped during his
every day life. Dr. Sacks was alarmed by Dr. Bennet s driving habits who assured him he had
never been in a car accident. Sacks continued to observe Bennet in his work and home life and was
astounded by how well Dr. Bennet functioned. He remarked that there were many odd quirks and
he continued to ask the surgeon about his conditions, but by the end of it he was convinced
Tourette did not hinder a person. At least, it did not hinder Dr. Bennet. Dr. Bennet subdued and hid
much of his Tourette originally, but as soon

The Thoracic Ventricle
II MDCT angiography of the thoracic aorta:
At the point when an acute aortic syndrome (AAS) is suspected (owing either to clinical
manifestations or to chest radiographic findings), non enhanced CT is usually done first to search a
high attenuation acute intramural hematoma (IMH). The contrast enhanced scanning, which take
after is the key part of the CT examination. The right timing of the entry of contrast material in the
aorta is basic to picture quality. Approaches to accomplishing this incorporate a timing bolus or a
bolus tracking technique (Kazerooni et al, 2009).
Technical procedures: Previously, ECG gating has fundamentally been retrospective gating with
which information are gathered over the whole cardiac cycle. This allows review of aortic valve
morphologic features on static images at end systole and end diastole, measurement of aortic valve
surface area and the review of valve leaflet motion in cine mode. Inadequate coaptation of the valve
leaflets relates to regurgitation, and a confined opening relates to stenosis (Gilkeson et al., 2006).
Additionally, the more up to date prospective triggering technique gathers CT information just at a
specified point or cluster of points in the heart cycle, decreasing the time the CT beam is on to a
fraction of what it was with retrospective gating, thus considerably decreasing the radiation dose
(Shuman et al., 2008).
The development of MSCT with more than 16 detector rows has enabled

How The Zip Line Changed My Life
I nervously clutched onto the the thin metal wire that held me over fifty feet above the mini
golf course. For a few seconds, I sat in the zip line harness frozen in fear. I thought about why I
had taken the chance to go on the zip line that hovered above all of the giant green trees. Any
malfunction, and I would be falling down and crashing to my death. I still went on the zip line
because I wanted to have the experience of a lifetime. My heart was racing, my palms were sweaty.
I looked down to make sure I was strapped in the harness properly. I waited anxiously as my feet
dangled back and forth in the summer air. There were tons of people down below all staring at
me, wondering if I was alright. I questioned on why I had even chosen to go... Show more content

My head was deciding whether to be scared to death or to be enjoying the experience. Trying
new things for me is never easy. There is always something that I regret or complain about. If I
paused in the middle of the zip line all those people would staring into my soul. My eyes
widened as I glanced at my surroundings. Far off to my right, I saw the most magnificent sight; a
massive lake that surrounded an island. At that moment, I finally appreciated my daring
courageousness and the risk of going on this life threatening zip line. The pictures that my family
took will always stay memories from the moment I rode this zip line to the moment I die. This
memory will give me hope and confidence whenever I may be feeling down or upset. Trying new
things allows us to fully understand and realize who we are when we are put to the test. If I had
thought of going on the zip line, and all I thought of the ride was whether or not I was going to
fall, I wouldn t of seen the beauty in the lake, island, or the trees. As I glanced back as we were
walking back, still thinking of the new memory formed in my head. This is a time where I had the

In the world of gaming consoles have grown over the years and one thing PC games had over

to the consoles systems and has taken off with popularity. To playtrove you run around different

As you complete dungeons, you will be rewarded loot and collecting all of them and taking them
to the loot collector will unlock styles and get the mastery for doing so. Now that you have
played all the characters and have decided to choose the character of your choice, play that
character. You will need to focus on leveling that character and that character only. There is no way
to shortcut leveling, the best way to level is to dungeon farm. Over the world portals, you will see
recommended level and power rank to enter the world. You always wantto in the proper world
range for your level. Going higher will not give you more experience and keeping to low on the
worlds will not pay out the max experience you can receive. Another key factor you will notice as
you are leveling up your character is you are unlocking gem slots. This is key to the power rank
portion of Trove, and that s why you need to be level 30 because by doing so you will have
unlocked all gem slots and allow you to insert the maximum number of gems onto that character.
After talking about leveling and gems a little I will go in a little deeper into the matter. To make
sure you can get into the desired portals as you level. Your face, hat, and weapon you should be
changing out with the items you pick up from dungeons if it will give you more power rank. Your
end gear type will be called Stellar gear, but you will end up having to buy that from another player

United Parcel Service and Ups
United Parcel Service Executive Summary UPS has announced that after more than 90 years as a
private company, it was planning an initial public offering to become a publicly traded company.
In response to this, we will first analyze UPSВЎВ¦s business strategy and itВЎВ¦s sustainability of
its current performance. Then we will look at key factors to estimate the UPSВЎВ¦s market
capitalization value using FedExВЎВ¦s multiples as well as ВЎВ§best in breedВЎВЁ company
premiums. From this, we concluded that UPSВЎВ¦s IPO should create a market capitalization for
UPS between $17,520 million and $30,415 million. Evaluation UPS is the largest parcel delivery
service in the world. They also help their customers its customers with supply chain... Show more

If we benchmark UPS relative to best of breed(BOB) industry premium using FedEx as the
industrial comparable, then we come up with an average UPS market capitalization of $ 30,415
million. Using the 58% average BOB premium for the trailing price to earnings multiple, we come
up with UPS market capitalization of $21,985 million. If we use the 103% average BOB premium
for the market to book multiple, then we come with UPS market capitalization of $38,845 million.
UPS doesnВЎВ¦t seem like it deserves a BOB premium because its only has 15% higher net
income than FedEx where the BOB premium companies average over 200% higher net income than
the industrial comparable. But, since the last yearВЎВ¦s net income was negatively affected by the
tax court ruling we believe their net income in 1999 should be looked at without this one time write
off against their net income which would bring their net income more closer to what the BOB
premium companies average. Conclusion We believe the UPSВЎВ¦s actual market capitalization
and stock value lies somewhere between $17,520 million and $30,415 million. Although we believe
that UPS shouldnВЎВ¦t be fully valued using the BOB premium because of the uncertain future
business and financial prospects, we also donВЎВ¦t think just using FedExВЎВ¦s multiples as
benchmark for the UPSВЎВ¦s value captures the true market capitalization value for UPS.

King Leopold and the Belgian Congo Essay
King Leopold and the Belgian Congo
It is widely debated why exactly King Leopold decided to conquer the Congo, but the general
consensus seems to be that it was out of the belief that the highlands of the Congo may be as rich
in gold as the mountains of the western slope of the American Continent (Stead). In the mid 1870s,
the King hired Henry Stanley, who was familiar with many parts of Africa, to help him go about
conquering. During the following years Stanley stayed in Africa, talking various tribes into signing
over their lands and rights. After this was completed the King officially took over the Congo,
renaming it the Congo Free State. This was especially ironic because all natives of the country were
either forced to give up ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eventually, word started to spread about what was going on. The public had strongly believed that
the natives were benefiting from being civilized through their forced labor. However, between
disgusted Belgian officials and authors such as Joseph Conrad and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the
truth was becoming clearer. In 1904, the Congo Reform Association was founded. Four years
later, King Leopold was made to turn over the Belgian Congo to the Belgian government. Much
of the collected evidence against him was in the form of photographs. The king had managed to
successfully bribe almost every single person who might otherwise have made a witness against
the goings on in the Belgian Congo, as it was renamed after being handed over to the Belgian
government. This did very little good for the people of the Congo; they were still being
overworked, repressed, and denied basic human rights. The situation was more than a little
embarrassing for the king, who disliked his authority being overshadowed. Still, his profit from
the matter was no cause for complaint. Leopold s original investment was said to be somewhere in
the neighborhood of six and a half million dollars; the financial gain was that number, multiplied
many times over. Compared to Belgium s profit, during its time of colonization the population of
the Congo was decreased by

Double Indemnity In The Film Noir Movie
Film noir is a classic film style. Noir style films often use suspense, seduction, and drama to
highlight a cynical viewpoint of life. Double Indemnity uses all of these key points to create a
true noir classic. Billy Wilder s direction of the film helped to cement this film as a classic of
black and white films. Wilder s decision and storyline stayed true, for the most part, to the original
source novel, while also adding and improving key details. Fred MacMurrays and Barbara
Stanwyck s acting choices and on screen chemistry help to add depth to the storyline without
overshadowing each other. Along with the main actors, the background and minor characters work
well to fill in the background of the film. Double Indemnityfollows the insurance salesman Walter
Neff as he first meets the temptress Phyllis Dietrichson. The movie starts with an injured Neff who
begins to tell his story, which starts when he meets Phyllis. Neff attempts to talk to Dietrichson
about buying new insurance, but as they talk, Neff begins to suspect that Dietrichson is after
something far more dangerous than insurance, murder. Neff quickly leaves Dietrichson despite his
attraction to her. Neff returns to his apartment, only to have Dietrichson later show up and kiss him
drawing him to her side. After this Dietrichson and Neff begin to plan her husband s murder. Neff
and Dietrichson quickly accomplish this through an elaborate insurance scam that involves a train,
disguises, and a broken leg. Unable

Planning A Mexican Birthday Party
Planning a Mexican birthday party is no easy task. There are multiple factors that go into doing
so. Not only does it require a couple days of planning, but if done poorly, it will turn out the same.
In a Mexican party, one does not care about the content or what the family can provide. Rather, they
care about what they can contribute to make the partyhappen. The same can be said for a birthday
party. One does not spend weeks planning unless it is needed. Instead, you just decide on what you
want, and ask for the help of all your familymembers who will gladly help in any way they can. It
is for this reason that these birthday parties are so symbolic, because they bring family together
to celebrate someone s significant day of birth. The first step in planning the Perfect Mexican
birthday party is to invite your closest family members. This often means you re brothers and
sisters alongside cousins. People from outside the family are generally not invited and are shunned
if they do attend. The reason behind this is that Hispanic families tend to have family oriented
parties because this brings a sense of family bonding and togetherness. To begin the invitation
process, you will often call one family member, who will then spread the news around, effectively
acting as an invitation for the whole family. Following this, one must effectively create a music
playlist. Creating a music playlist full of Hispanic songs is essential for an enthusiastic party. You
must choose a

  • 2. Middle School Graduation Essay A is for awesome as it perfectly sums up my middle school years. While there were some bumps along the road, I ve finally made it to the end of this exciting(2) 8th grade year. Throughout my years at Sierramont Middle School, I ve experienced and learned so many valuable skills that I ll always remember. I ve met people that changed my life, teachers that inspired and taught me, and experienced the joys of middle school. While there were some people that annoyed me to the point I wanted to explode(10), there were more people who left a positive mark in my life. The teachers I ve had have done so much for me and all I can hope for is for all teachers to be recognized more. Teachers are the building blocks(8) to a person s life, yet they are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout middle school, I had many opportunities to earn(3) extra credit, but I ll never get as much as I did in Mr. Lam s history class in 7th grade. It s like that class was made just for me! Everyday there was a new assignment and if we showed it to him the next day and got it stamped, we would get extra credit. I m very proud to say I got every extra credit option except the first one since I didn t understand how his class worked. Despite his extra credit opportunities, some people said they were struggling to get by. I was pretty mind blown since my grade in his class was never below an A. While his class was already easy and I was okay with an A, I had so much extra time that it would be ridiculous if I didn t do the extra credit. While it s nice to have extra credit, I don t like teachers who give it for cleaning(1) the classroom or helping others since it doesn t have anything to do with what we are learning. My 6th grade science teacher was the easiest teacher ever since her work was easy and gave us extra credit for doing good deeds. That may be why I don t know as much about what we learned in 6th grade science since all I did was slack off and get extra credit. If only all teachers were like Mr. Lam, then everyone would learn and have a good grade that ll impress their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. I Believe Vision And College Alumni Into Accelerating... Introduction I believe vision promotes and excels college alumni into accelerating career pathways that promote autonomy, innovation, and leadership expressed independently and as a team. Fostering the next generation builds the framework for the assumptions relied upon to support the community needs for career ready hires. In addition, vision aligns personal beliefs and career goals as a career services, director. I would articulate, steward, and promote this vision to foster alignment with stakeholders students, parents, and community leaders. In turn, encouraging career goals through exploration through desires, needs, individual values, behavior and actions. Simply the opportunity to lead in providing students with tools to make strategic and informed decisions about the career paths. Articulating a Vision I believe collaborative planning with faculty, career development officers, and hiring recruiters from a shared governance perspective. In addition, to articulating, developing and rolling out the vision and prompting feedback to measure those expected outcomes. I would start by communicating with those who teach, requesting structured curriculum to incorporate career opportunities relative to their courses. The effective avenues to reach the masses would include forums, press releases, college open houses, career fairs, website presence, faculty retreats, courses and college wide updates all areas requiring community/workforce collaboration. Pharmacists are in the front lines of this big task. When I was a technician, I learned how far some patients are willing to take lies in order to get certain controlled drugs. In the pharmacy, I want to do three things to prevent abuse. First, I want to have an organized pharmacy. When the pharmacy is in order of our counts, we are more likely to be confident when we deny a patient who is refilling to soon. There is nothing worse than being caught in a situation when you are not sure of our own records. Therefore, I believe being organized in my medication count is foundational of a good pharmacy. Secondly, I want to approve the selling of needles to patients. I believe in this method because people who are addicted to certain drugs will keep taking the drug regardless of whether the needles are clean or not.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That s not say people do not feel pain but pain medication abuse is more prevalent now than ever before due to the increase in heroin users! Doctors and pharmacists must have quick and efficient ways of communicating. Even when communication isn t an issue, doctors do not listen to pharmacist s recommendation. • 6. Van Gogh And Starry Night While researching Vincent Van Gogh, I found out several interesting facts about him that I previously didn t know. I also found out information on one of his famous paintings, Starry Night . My goal for this essay is to provide information and insight into both van Gogh and Starry Night. Vincent Willem van Gogh was a post impressionist painter. He was born in Zundert, Netherlands on March 30, 1853 and died in Auvers sur Oise, France on July 29, 1890. As a child, van Gogh had a bad temperament that stopped his pursuits in their tracks, and by the age of 27 he was, or had been, a french tutor and a salesman in an art gallery among other things. Many of his first paintings, such as Potato Eaters (1885, Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam), reflected his experiences as a preacher. Some would say that his early work was dark and somber, sometimes even crude, providing evidence of his desire to express the misery and poverty of humanity though his eyes. In 1886, van Gogh went to Paris, France to live with his brother Theo van Gogh, who was an art dealer, and became well known with the new art movements being developed at the time. During that period, van Gogh began to experiment with current techniques after being influenced by the impressionists work and that of such Japanese printmakers as Hiroshige and Hokusai, and ... • 7. Essay on Determination Some people believe that talent and a winning attitude are all you need in order to succeed in your endeavors, but a winning attitude means having determination, which many people lack. As seen on wisdomforthesoul.org, Real leaders are ordinary people with extraordinary determination. Determination is an important factor in the overall success or failure of a person s efforts. Unfortunately, determination is not something that comes easy to the majority of people. To be truly determined, a person must first be passionate about what they re doing. Passion, however, is only the first step towards resolution and determination. One must have a clear goal in mind, and be willing to do anything to achieve said goal. Once they have set... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (www.merriam webster.com) This is synonymous with my personal definition of determination. When the end is decided upon, there is no reason or desire to change said goal. A person under the influence of determination is comparable to a train. The train will not change its direction, as it cannot, and no matter what, the train will continue along the tracks until it either reaches its destination, or is stopped by the conductor. For as an example, my plan after high school is to go to college, and then move into the professional world. When confronted about possibly wanting to join the military, my answer is absolutely not. Going to college right after high school has always been my mindset, and there s no way my determination will let that change. I am the metaphorical train, because my destination is set, and there s no chance for me to adjust my direction. I will not stray from my goal, because it would mean wrecking myself and all those involved in my endeavors. There will be mountains in front of me, and people I may have to run over to reach my goal, but when one s mind is set, they will not waver, and neither will I. Another dictionary defines determination as firmness of purpose (thefreedictionary.com). When one is determined, they are ready for what life throws at them, because no matter how obscure the path may be, they always have a clear view of their final destination. To be determined means to always know ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Threat Of The Taliban When Obama was elected in 2008 one of his main goals was to end all war with Afghanistan. Currently Obama has decided to keep the troops in Afghanistan until 2017, extending after his removal from office. According to the New York Times, his decision against the removal is an effort to counter terrorism attacks. Since 2001, after the attack on the twin towers, the US has been trying to fight against terrorism. After the attack, Al Qaeda and Bin Laden both hid in Afghanistan, making it a hideout for terrorists. Before 9/11, Bin Laden and Al Qaeda had formed relations with the Taliban. Today Afghanistan is still unstable and is vulnerable to Isis. Afghani troops, are not able to stand alone, they don t have the training they require to fight... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... and NATO forces formally ended their long running combat mission in Afghanistan, which began in the weeks after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. That means the 2015 fighting season was the first time Afghanistan s troops were officially tasked with defending their country with significantly reduced help from the U.S. It s a test for which the Afghans have in recent months appeared ill equipped. The US is currently playing a big role in Afghanistan, even with the 10,000 troops still there. Multiple aspects are at stake when considering the troops withdrawal from Afghanistan. Isis is a threat to America as well as a threat to Afghanistan. Even the Taliban doesn t agree with the beliefs of Isis, they are much more extreme than those of the Taliban. If we can help Afghanistan fight against Isis, we can help keep Isis from attacking the US. Within the past couple of days, Isis attacked Paris and the whole world is scared, because it wasn t an attack on Paris it was an attack on humanity itself. In the past there was also the aspect of oil that we could get from Afghanistan, but now trying to fight Isis is the biggest factor. Another aspect is that Afghanistan needs our help because we are the superpower. America is strong in everything military, socially and politically, so it s our moral responsibility to help Afghanistan with Isis. It will also benefit the US when Isis isn t a threat, because America won t be worried ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit In the neonatal intensive care unit, pain is something to be expected. The question is, when the neonate is in pain will the nursing staff recognize it and how will they try to compensate for it? Infants in their first few weeks of life can go through incredibly painful procedures at a time where any amount of stress to the body can negatively impact their abilities to survive. In the past, painhas not been held in high regards for neonates due to a lack of understanding in their development.Fortunately, there are now laws in place by The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations that state that there are standards for pain and stress management that each hospital has to follow.Effective management of pain during procedures and after procedures are highly important to improve acute and long term outcomes while focusing on minimizing the neonate s behavioral and physiological stress. There are many ways to manage pain in today s society. Some prefer non analgesic treatment, and others rather manage their pain by taking analgesics as soon as they re aware of the severity of their pain. On the specific topic of neonates, it is often said that their pain is overlooked. Because it is so difficult to suspect whether or not the infant is in pain due to their developmental age group, nurses are reluctant to take pharmacological measures without proof. There are a considerable amount of pain scales accessible for neonates and neonatal nurses. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Theme Of The Metamorrphosis And It s A Wonderful Life The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka and the movie It s a Wonderful Life, directed by Francis Copra, don t seem to have a lot in common at first glance. One is an old novella taught in literature classes, and the other is a Christmas movie, but if you look closer you can see they share common themes of unhappiness, transformation, and dependence on family support. In both The Metamorphosisand It s a Wonderful Life the main characters are unhappy in their lives, and go through a transformation where they see what their lives are like without them. We will examine the characters, the journeys they went through, and the different outcomes of similar experiences. George s transformation in It s a Wonderful Life starts with James Steward s character George s unhappiness. His job, which he never wanted to get stuck with in the first place, is going bad, and he feels like nothing he does makes any difference. He is about to get blamed for something he didn t do and is backed into a corner. This is when George s transformation begins. His unhappiness is compounded when his business is failing and he is blamed. He is threatened with prison and ruin. He is unable to keep it together for Christmas Eve. He sees his life as a life of sacrifice for his friends, family, and the good of the town, and he sees it as all for nothing. All his efforts are leading to his ruin. When he goes home after the money is missing, and after realizing all the implications that are attached to that, the stress is compounded by his family. His daughter is sick, the piano is playing the same thing over and over. He is bombarded with questions and the problems pile up until he loses his temper. He feels that he has the weight of the world on his shoulders and it is all crashing down. Nothing he does is good enough, and nothing he has done would stop him from going to prison if he couldn t come up with money. That is when he remembers his life insurance. If he died the bank would be taken care of and his family would be taken care of. If he died he wouldn t be stuck in the same old town, with all the responsibility. He stands on the bridge ready to jump and wishes he had never been born, He gets his wish and is shown what life would be like ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. The Invasion Of Nazi Germany The invasion and subsequent takeover of France during World War II by Nazi Germany was a multi pronged attack that was built on a combination of swift and prolonged attacks of psychologic and combative violence. Psychological violence was the Nazi s intentional erosion of French identity, values, sense of community and morality. The spread of information through newspapers and radios was crucial to the morality and organization of the people and the Resistance and thus a primary target of the Nazis. Germany pulled the puppet strings of the Vichy Regime to manipulate society particularly through the use of the preexisting police force while gradually modifying the logic and focus of the force for their own gains. The combative violence of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But such wide spread death across different strata of society brewed hatred and distrust among the general public. This destroyed any raptor the Nazi might have built while showing that few were truly safe. This is particularly true of Nazi retaliations that seem out of proportion and illogical. Consider the train attack by Resistance individuals in the small town of Ascq. At night, a small charge was detonated that temporarily delayed a train carrying troops and equipment. Though there was no physical damage, this was a heavy psychologic blow to the already agitated Nazi Germans. Such a bottleneck along the track would have exposed the entire assembly to farther attacks, disrupted schedules elsewhere and left the soldiers abandoned in, now, enemy territory. The Nazi retaliation was brutal. Per the newly adjusted regulations, nearest village was sacked and all the adult males were rounded up and massacred at the end of the train. Nazi responses was quick and merciless carried out in a matter of hours after the original attack. The actions of the soldiers was explained away by the governments as acts of self defense. As Robert Gildea stated At Ascq, the first reaction to the massacre of 2 April I944 was a wave of hatred of the Germans. The word atrocities was now on everyone s lips in a way it had not been since 1914 18, and there was a sense that the barbarities of the war raging in the east were now moving to the west. Here was a concrete, undeniable example of brutality of Nazi Germany. It quickly became a recruiting point for Resistance groups. The death on all the males of a village including a vicar and curate could not be readily hidden away. No longer could the general public avoid the reports of other Nazi atrocities in other countries. And so, Resistance grew into more everyday ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Based on this theory, Ahlbeck et al. initiated their model (Lumped mass model) which represents only the vertical effect of the sleeper and the ballast as shown in Figure 2.1.2. This model cannot be used in high frequency vibration[5]. Also, Ahlbeck et al. Furthermore, Ahlbeck et al. Cloud computing is invariably a cost efficient method to use, maintain amp; upgrade. Traditional desktop software costs VCC substantially. Adding up licensing fees for multi user permit is expensive for the business. The cloud, offered at rather inexpensive rates comparatively, significantly lowers the costs. Besides, there are many scalable options available, which make it very practical for VCC. Storing information in the cloud gives VCC an almost unlimited capacity. On the other hand, Lily harbors an aversion for Mrs. Ramsay. For instance, this reproof surfaces during the dinner party, when Lily observes that Mrs. Ramsay led her victims...to the altar (Woolf 101). Although both contradictory impulses are strong, her criticism of Mrs. Ramsay gains intensity in the novel s end. Consequently, Lily s wrestle with Mrs. Ramsay s invisible presence makes the two becomes antagonists (Andre par. 12). A general sense of chaos also creases Lily s life. Andre notes that the Greek word khaos denotes an abyss, which is related to chasm (par. 3). This chasm, or distance, is the source of Lily s conflict, because Woolf associates it with change. When Mr. Ramsay sets out to the lighthouse, for example, Lily relates the distance with change: Already the little distance they had sailed had put them far from it and given it the changed look, the composed look, of something receding in which one has no longer any part (Woolf 166). Lily s awareness of the chaos deepens it; she is aware of the disorder around her and the complexity of her responses to that disorder (Gorsky 103). • 22. Reflection Paper On My Writing Process Reflective Memo Description of my Writing Process In my writing process, pre writing was my initial step where I had to find the narrative to write. I had numerous stories in my mind, but I had to get the best, which draws inspiration to me, and the one that could teach valuable lessons to my audience. So, I had to refer from that childhood memory regarding the most significant narrative. However, I had to build up on the story. Therefore, I had to use the myth worksheet issued at class, to make sure that my story meets all the course requirements. Apparently, I had to make some changes (revise) the narrative, to deliver the most intended life lesson to my audience. That is when I decided to plan and structure on what to write down in particular. The actual writing was my second step, where I had to start writing my draft. However, I had several challenges at this phase, such as word count, grammar issues, among others. Apparently, I had to write several rough copies of my narrative. Again, I had to get the best time and location to eliminate any potential distractions. In fact, at this stage, I had no confidence with my narrative on whether it will convey a relevant meaning to my audience. But now the writing process was advancing well, and I started revising my paper. When revising my narrative, I had to adapt A.R.R.R.R approach where, I had to add some words, rearrange my paragraphs and sentences to consider flow, pacing, and sequencing of my story. Again, I had to remove the irrelevant parts, considering whether the reader will acquire the required message. Finally, replacing them with the relevant words and phrases. My final step was editing and proofreading. At this phase, I had to check for clarity, grammar, repetition, punctuation, and spelling. Editing and proofreading were detailed processes since they were the last step in my writing process. At this moment, I had gained confidence in my paper, since I had read it several times, affirming that it made some sense. Furthermore, I gave it to my friend who is a professional to proofread, and he assured me that the paper was sensible. Revising the Narrative Apparently, I had to review my story to convey the message swiftly. In the initial story, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In a small coastal village, a man parks his car at a distance and walks towards the only object in a large field: Kaze No Denwa, the Phone of the Wind. Tears begin to well in his eyes as he feels the gentle breeze wash over him. His shoes crunch the loose gravel underfoot. On this day, there is no one else around. In the middle of the field stands a white phone booth. It glows boldly in the bright afternoon sunlight. The man walks along a winding path through low cut, manicured underbrush. He reaches the phone booth, slides open the door, and enters. He takes his time, looks around, and finally picks up the receiver from atop an old fashioned black rotary phone. He places a finger into a small circle at his desired number, gently spins clockwise, releases, and repeats nine times. The phone in Kaze No Denwa is connected to nothing; there is no electricity here, no dial tone even, but the man is not surprised. If you can hear me, he says, please listen carefully. He stops, looks around the tiny phone box, and sobs, wiping the tears from his eyes with a sleeve. Please, let me hear your voice say Daddy again. He covers his eyes with the sleeve and gently whispers, I m so sorry I couldn t save you. I will forever be sorry and shamed. His head falls, his eyes close. His name is Satsuko. Although having lived in different time periods, Franklin, Thoreau, and Fitzgerald all suggest that consumerism is a negative trait in American life, that devices the mind into overvaluing wealth and material object. Benjamin Franklin clearly presents his stance on frugality in his biography. One of the virtues that Franklin follows is to, make no expense but to do good to others or yourself: ... • 34. The Iron Curtain Analysis Description: The artwork that I am criticizing is the Wall of Oil Barrels The Iron Curtain by Christo and Jeanne Claude. The location of this barricade was in Rue Visconti, Paris, between Rue Bonaparte and Rue de Seine. Rue Visconti is a one way street that is 140 meters long and 3 meters wide. They used oil barrels and put them up on June 27, 1962. Christo and Jeanne Claude worked together on the barricade, taking a total of eight hours to get it all done. The iron/steel oil barrels were stacked on top of each other, forming a wall/barricade of some sort. Christo and Jeanne Claude left all the barrels exactly they way were, they didn t even change the colors of them. They also kept the brand of the barrel and the rust on them visible. The barricade took up 488.26800 feet (13.7 x 13.2 x 2.7). There was a total of 89 barrels used to create the art. Analysis: The wall of oil barrels appear to be some balance. If they weren t at least balanced and stack properly, the whole thing would ve probably collapsed. There are just enough enough barrels to make... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 36. Integrated Healthcare System Analysis Briefing Paper 4: Eric Lombardi Lopes More and more integrated hospitals and other providers are becoming prevalent in our community; two large systems in the Dallas Fort Worth area are Texas Health Resources and the Baylor Scott White systems. What exactly are these integrated hospital systems? An integrated healthcare system is one that through official agreements or ownership sets up a horizontal and vertical line of healthcare facilities and services to better deliver seamless healthcare to patients. An example to use is Texas Health Resources since its found in most corners of the Metroplex. With any large corporation and system comes confusion and other problems: such as regulatory obstacles, the complexity of operations, and unclear financial ownerships. Integrated healthcare systems appear at face value to be the solution to curbing the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Horizontal integrations mean that all services, facilities, and other patient care needs are acquired and merged into the integrated system. An example would be a general hospital acquiring or partnering with other specialized sources of healthcare such as, outpatient facilities, pharmacies, specialty offices, oncology centers, and diagnostic labs and services. A vertical integration means to apply factors that do not directly affect patient care, such as medical supplies and drugs, insurance, financial services, emergency services such as ambulances, and administration responsibilities. A system that can implement both can afford to provide lower cost care while maintaining quality, if the system gets to large enough it can also help curb the availability of care. • 37. Challenges In Behold The Dreamers Not only do adolescents face challenges in the city of Woodburn, but so do parents and any immigrant individual. In chapter twenty of Behold the Dreamers Jende and Neni get in argument because Liomi heard his mom on the phone saying that they were returning to Cameroon, the country they escaped from for a better opportunity. Jende gets very upset with Neni as he says the following is that what you think? You think we should tell a child his father might be deported? You want Liomi to know what s happening to me? (Mbue, 2016, p. 128). Jende s and Neni s fear of immigration is definitely a fear many immigrant families have always had in the city of Woodburn for many years. these families are scared to be separated and to come to an end in their American Dream . Neni and Jende fear for their son because they want him to get a good education and to grow up in a country with opportunities. Their dream is for Liomi to not grow up in a poor city like they did. Their dream is also to become someone in life and to own their own house, which is something many families in the city of Woodburn are also eager for. The life of Jende and Neni in the novel Behold the Dreamers is very similar to the life in the city of Woodburn, which I think is interesting because Jende and Nenis life experience took place in a much bigger city than Woodburn New York city . But, the dreams, expectations, issues, and fears are very similar between both cities and families. As the city of Woodburn and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Cinderella Analysis For centuries, the fairy tale Cinderella, that everyone has come to know and love has been told in many different countries and in a variety of ways. Although each story is different, they all have similar meaning and each one demonstrates how universal the Cinderella story is, as well as how unique each version is to the particular culture out which it grew (Tam and Cam, 2012 Pg 194). Little girls all over the world are told some type of Cinderellastory and they grow up dreaming that one day they ll be a princess just like the characters in the stories. They will find their prince charming to sweep them off their feet. However, these manipulative stories tend to teach girls that they do not need to be dependent on a man to take care... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Along with the false message of beauty, there is this idea that your life can just magically become better with the snap of your fairy god mothers fingers. The problem with this idea is that there is no such thing as a fairy god mother in real life. There should not be a single woman out there who waits on someone else to make their future better Fairy tales are more fables that transform lives with supernatural events. Modern versions of Cinderella grant her wishes without requiring her to take all active role in determining her future (Coady, 2009 Pg 4). Every girl should be taking steps today to become a better person and improve her live for tomorrow. Over generations, fairy tales and folk stories have given the wrong impression to their audiences and since they are classics these stories are continuously passed down. Every young girl can remember a times in their life when Cinderella was, indeed, the women they wanted to become. The fancy dresses, marvelous lifestyle, and a Prince Charming to keep them safe. Even though there is many different versions of this story, the same message is clear throughout all of them. Each country or culture may change a few minor details within the fairy tale, but the men always manage to save the women and become the hero. In a sense, this story is teaching girls all over the world that they cannot be independent or successful on their own. In reality, this is incorrect, women of all ages can be successful and support ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He also has violent tendencies, though it should be noted not at other people, rather he would throw inanimate objects at fridges or kick holes in the wall. Tourette s Syndrome did not stop Dr. Bennet from being a brilliant surgeon, however, and he is heavily praised by those he s helped. Dr. Bennet s gifts are remarkable and have even amazed other doctors, for instance, Dr. Sacks. Dr. Sacks, a neurologist, has had a long standing interest in Tourette and had met Dr. Bennet at a conference. Sacks was shocked that Bennet was a surgeon, and accepted his invitation to visit his hometown to see how Bennet coped during his every day life. Dr. Sacks was alarmed by Dr. Bennet s driving habits who assured him he had never been in a car accident. Sacks continued to observe Bennet in his work and home life and was astounded by how well Dr. Bennet functioned. He remarked that there were many odd quirks and he continued to ask the surgeon about his conditions, but by the end of it he was convinced Tourette did not hinder a person. The Thoracic Ventricle II MDCT angiography of the thoracic aorta: At the point when an acute aortic syndrome (AAS) is suspected (owing either to clinical manifestations or to chest radiographic findings), non enhanced CT is usually done first to search a high attenuation acute intramural hematoma (IMH). The contrast enhanced scanning, which take after is the key part of the CT examination. The right timing of the entry of contrast material in the aorta is basic to picture quality. Approaches to accomplishing this incorporate a timing bolus or a bolus tracking technique (Kazerooni et al, 2009). Technical procedures: Previously, ECG gating has fundamentally been retrospective gating with which information are gathered over the whole cardiac cycle. This allows review of aortic valve morphologic features on static images at end systole and end diastole, measurement of aortic valve surface area and the review of valve leaflet motion in cine mode. Inadequate coaptation of the valve leaflets relates to regurgitation, and a confined opening relates to stenosis (Gilkeson et al., 2006). Additionally, the more up to date prospective triggering technique gathers CT information just at a specified point or cluster of points in the heart cycle, decreasing the time the CT beam is on to a fraction of what it was with retrospective gating, thus considerably decreasing the radiation dose (Shuman et al., 2008). If we benchmark UPS relative to best of breed(BOB) industry premium using FedEx as the industrial comparable, then we come up with an average UPS market capitalization of $ 30,415 million. Using the 58% average BOB premium for the trailing price to earnings multiple, we come up with UPS market capitalization of $21,985 million. If we use the 103% average BOB premium for the market to book multiple, then we come with UPS market capitalization of $38,845 million. UPS doesnВЎВ¦t seem like it deserves a BOB premium because its only has 15% higher net income than FedEx where the BOB premium companies average over 200% higher net income than the industrial comparable. But, since the last yearВЎВ¦s net income was negatively affected by the tax court ruling we believe their net income in 1999 should be looked at without this one time write off against their net income which would bring their net income more closer to what the BOB premium companies average. Conclusion We believe the UPSВЎВ¦s actual market capitalization and stock value lies somewhere between $17,520 million and $30,415 million. Although we believe that UPS shouldnВЎВ¦t be fully valued using the BOB premium because of the uncertain future business and financial prospects, we also donВЎВ¦t think just using FedExВЎВ¦s multiples as benchmark for the UPSВЎВ¦s value captures the true market capitalization value for UPS. ... King Leopold and the Belgian Congo Essay King Leopold and the Belgian Congo It is widely debated why exactly King Leopold decided to conquer the Congo, but the general consensus seems to be that it was out of the belief that the highlands of the Congo may be as rich in gold as the mountains of the western slope of the American Continent (Stead). In the mid 1870s, the King hired Henry Stanley, who was familiar with many parts of Africa, to help him go about conquering. During the following years Stanley stayed in Africa, talking various tribes into signing over their lands and rights. After this was completed the King officially took over the Congo, renaming it the Congo Free State. This was especially ironic because all natives of the country were either forced to give up ... The public had strongly believed that the natives were benefiting from being civilized through their forced labor. However, between disgusted Belgian officials and authors such as Joseph Conrad and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the truth was becoming clearer. In 1904, the Congo Reform Association was founded. Four years later, King Leopold was made to turn over the Belgian Congo to the Belgian government. Much of the collected evidence against him was in the form of photographs. The king had managed to successfully bribe almost every single person who might otherwise have made a witness against the goings on in the Belgian Congo, as it was renamed after being handed over to the Belgian government. This did very little good for the people of the Congo; they were still being overworked, repressed, and denied basic human rights. The situation was more than a little embarrassing for the king, who disliked his authority being overshadowed. Still, his profit from the matter was no cause for complaint. • 50. Double Indemnity In The Film Noir Movie Film noir is a classic film style. Noir style films often use suspense, seduction, and drama to highlight a cynical viewpoint of life. Double Indemnity uses all of these key points to create a true noir classic. Billy Wilder s direction of the film helped to cement this film as a classic of black and white films. Wilder s decision and storyline stayed true, for the most part, to the original source novel, while also adding and improving key details. Fred MacMurrays and Barbara Stanwyck s acting choices and on screen chemistry help to add depth to the storyline without overshadowing each other. • 51. Planning A Mexican Birthday Party Planning a Mexican birthday party is no easy task. There are multiple factors that go into doing so. Not only does it require a couple days of planning, but if done poorly, it will turn out the same. In a Mexican party, one does not care about the content or what the family can provide. Rather, they care about what they can contribute to make the partyhappen. The same can be said for a birthday party. One does not spend weeks planning unless it is needed. Instead, you just decide on what you want, and ask for the help of all your familymembers who will gladly help in any way they can. It is for this reason that these birthday parties are so symbolic, because they bring family together to celebrate someone s significant day of birth. The first step in planning the Perfect Mexican birthday party is to invite your closest family members. This often means you re brothers and sisters alongside cousins. People from outside the family are generally not invited and are shunned if they do attend. The reason behind this is that Hispanic families tend to have family oriented parties because this brings a sense of family bonding and togetherness. To begin the invitation process, you will often call one family member, who will then spread the news around, effectively acting as an invitation for the whole family. Following this, one must effectively create a music playlist. Creating a music playlist full of Hispanic songs is essential for an enthusiastic party. You must choose a ...
