5-11 Feb. 2017 First pupils' and teachers' project meeting for the eTwinning/Erasmus+ project "Making school a home for each student: unity in diversity"
2. Day 1 : trip to Toledo
On this first day we went to
Toledo to visit the three
areas which are important
parts of its history and also
of our history. We left from
Aranjuez at 9.00 a.m. and we
got to Toledo at 10.15.
During the coach trip we
could have a look at the arid
landscapes which were very
unusual for us.
We found Toledo a lovely city
because of its mixture of
cultures (Muslim, Catholic
and Jewish) and the people
were very welcoming with us.
It was a very tiring day
because we had to start to
communicate in English and
Spanish with other people
from all around Europe but it
was worth it!
3. Day 2 : school workshops
On Tuesday we
went to school in
the morning to do
some workshops.
We had three
different activities :
“Shared medals”,
“Mannequin
challenge” and
“Shared drawings”.
The one I liked the
most was
“Shared
drawings”. I
worked with 2
Spanish students
and it was very
funny to draw
using 4 hands. At
the end we
learned how to
work as part of a
team and how to
get to know
students from
4. Day 3 : trip to Madrid
On Wednesday we travelled to Madrid by train. In the early morning our
guide took us around the most famous places and buildings. Then at
1.30 p.m. after a short break we visited the Thyssen-Bornemisza
Museum where we could find some very interesting paintings of
modern artists. There we had the chance to discuss our ideas about
art and how we would have drawn the paintings if we had been the
artist. Afterwards we had some free time to have a look around the
city and visit some tipical shops. The picture on the right was taken by
the 9th floor of “El Corte Inglés” and inside the shop there were all
kinds of stuff to buy, from guitars and pianos to towels and pillows. In
conclusion we had the opportunity to visit one of the most beautiful
cities in Europe and to see some of the most amazing places ever!
5. Day 4 : school workshops
On Thursday we
went to school to
do the last 3
workshops:
“Portrait of
Diversity”,
“Denounce
Caricatures” and
“Changing our
Context”. My
favourite one was
“Changing our
Context” because
we had to use
the computers to
create a sort of
photomontage
with students to
put into a place of
another school. All
the activities were
very demanding
and we were glad
at the end
because we learnt
how to use a
software called
“GIMP”.
6. Day 5 : Kick-off Ceremony
On Friday basically Dareen and I spent
half day preparing our speech for the
ceremony with the families in the
afternoon. In the early morning we
strolled around Aranjuez and then we
went to the Cultural Centre “Isabel de
Farnesio” to do our rehearsal. While we
were there our friends had some free time
to spend with their Spanish hosts. At 6:00
p.m all the families came in and after a
general introduction of the 6 schools we
broke the ice with our
fantastic speech. We felt
very proud and satisfied of
our work and that of the
other mates. I think this
speech was the most
worrying and at the same
time exciting part of the
journey because I was very
nervous but I didn’t want to
waste such a big
opportunity to demonstrate
how hard we worked!
7. Thank you guys!!!
I would like to thank all the families, students
and teachers who took part in this amazing
project.
I hope our mates enjoyed this journey as we
did and I hope we’ll meet again one day
guys!!!!!
