- 1. My inspirations Rather than a person themselves, I was inspired more by the film industry as a whole. Growing up I had always loved watching films and series, and the older I got the more that love developed. It would always interest be learning of what had gone into the production of a title, I would even sit and watch the behind-the-scenes and commentary versions of a film wanting to everything that went into the making of it. I never knew being a part of the film and media industry was what I wanted to work towards as many people can relate. When I was younger it was believed I would grow up to work with animals, then getting to secondary school I leaned more towards art. Then when it came to college, I had the debate on whether I should go into art or film. Going with art and design over at Newcastle College, I was never really happy on that course. I enjoyed learning the art styles and using tools I had never had the chance to before. But I found art to be more of a hobby for me. Never getting the right amount of work done on time and constantly wanting to drop out with no motivation to put any effort into the course, I made it through the first year. Having the choice of going back for the second year, I knew that wasn’t what I wanted to do. Wanting to go with my second option, I started looking into what Sunderland College could offer me and from there I joined the creative media course seeing it had more of a practical relation to what I was after. And since me joining, I know what I want to work towards. The industry at least, I continue to be unsure of what sector exactly, but this is the start. I don’t regret my choice in joining the preferred course last though, actually I’m glad the way I went about it. Sure, I’m spending an additional year in college, but that’s where the knowledge and experience comes in. If I went straight to media, I never would have gotten to learn what I have learnt and wouldn’t get to realise that that course isn’t for me. And thinking about it, if I went with media first, I might have left at the end of the first year to be apart of the art and design course. Maybe with going through the covid restrictions, I wouldn’t have enjoyed the course as much as I do now. You never know really. Luckily, everything has worked out for me going the way it has.
