The document proposes developing a mini sports complex on a site surrounded by residential and commercial areas that currently lacks sports facilities. The complex would include a futsal court, basketball court, tennis court, badminton courts, basement parking, management office, changing rooms, storage, cafeteria, and bicycle rental area to serve nearby students and residents. Benefits include encouraging sports participation, hosting school events, and providing convenient facilities and jobs. Potential impacts are construction noise and air pollution, and traffic issues once operating.

THE PROPOSAL – MINI SPORTS COMPLEX
CONCEPTOF THE PROJECT
Through the site analysis, it was found that the area lack of sports facilities. Being
surrounded by many residential areas and commercial areas, the site is suitable to be
developed to serve as a recreation area and commercial area.
Referring to the list of popular sports among the students and residents in the area, it was
found that there is a lack of basketball courts, badminton courts and tennis courts. The
futsal court was proposed in order to solve the problems of children playing soccer at
unsuitable places.
Since the area of the site is quite limited, there should be sufficient parking spaces for the
users. As a solution, a basement parking can be built to overcome the problems faced.
Besides focusing on the sports facilities, the management office is required to ensure the
operation of the sports complex can go on smoothly.
RATIONALEOF THEDEVELOPMENT
Seeing that the site is placed at a strategic place, where the residential area, commercial
area and a large recreational park is found near to the site, the land has a great potential of
being developed as a mini sports complex. The project also serves a great solution to reduce
the time travel to the nearest club house to use the sports facilities. Besides, it provides a
better alternative place for the people to enjoy sports.

TENNIS COURT
A shaded tennis court is placed next to the basketball court. Since this sports is quite well-
known and many have come to learn the skills, it serves best to all tennis fans in the
neighbourhood. As there is only one tennis court in the site, people who want to use the
facility have to do advance booking at the management office.
BADMINTON COURT
Above the basement parking is the badminton court. The area consists of 8 badminton
courts with a total area of 643.2 m2. Even though the courts are situated outdoor, there is a
huge roofing above the courts to overcome weather problems and to attract people to use
it anytime.

consists of 20 parking lots. The employers and visitors can use the parking lots when the
limited outdoor parking spaces are fully occupied. Each level of basement parking has two
elevators to direct the people to the ground floor.
MANAGEMENT OFFICE
The management office is situated next to the badminton courts. Workers are hired to
manage the condition of the facilities and allow the operation of the mini sports complex to
run smoothly. Any advance bookings are to be made at the management office and visitors

BICYCLE RENTAL AREA & ROUTES
A small bicycle rental area is proposed in front of the management office. This is to provide
convenience to those who need to walk further to the desired facilities. This also

while the adults compete in the courts.
Bicycle routes are found around the courts to ensure the accessibility of the different
facilities in the mini sports complex.

IMPACT OF THE PROJECT IN DIFFERENT AREAS
1. During the construction period of the basement parking, there will be sound pollution
created which disrupts the quality of living of the residents nearby.
2. The construction of the project will cause air pollution as the debris created from the
construction is difficult to handle and often ignored by the construction team.
3. After the project is done and the sports complex starts operating, there might be traffic
congestion caused by the overwhelming visitors in the area. This can be the result of the
one way traffic systemat the area as well.
4. Since the parking spaces are quite limited, the visitors may resolve in parking illegally on
the streets.
5. The facilities may also cause students to skip classes to play at the site.
