3. Introduction
• Taiz, is a city in the Yemeni highlands, near the
famous Mocha port on the Red sea, lying at an
elevation of about 1,400 meters above sea
level.
• Taiz is the second largest urban settlement in
Yemen, located in the interior highlands
• Taiz is located to the south of the capital city of
Yemen (sana’a)
5. Population growth
• The largest province in terms of population is the
province of Taiz, where the population of residence in
Taiz province about 2,393,425 residence ,where the
population growth is 4%
• It’s the most populated city in Yemen ,where it
represents 17% of the total population of 23 province
Air quality
• Taiz is suffering from many environmental problems
like water pollution, solid waste, traffic congestion and
air pollution.
• -Vehicle air pollution and pollution from factories are
the major sources of air pollution in Taiz

• Garbage dumps pose a great risk and crime for
hundreds of people in Taiz. The environmental
horror triangle lies in the smoke released by
the factories and their chemical dumps as well
as garbage dumps and their epidemic remains.
The third thing is sanitation pool. These three
factors cause soil deterioration and pollution
of air and underground water.

• Taiz environment is characterized by its bio diversity
,where it has aprime location on the crossroad of three
vital areas.
• In addition it has the mountains,sea and different types of
trees and animal resources.
Waste recycling
• Yemen is losing nearly $ 300 million a year because of not
collection and recycling of waste. And the total loss of taiz
city is $51 million ayear .

minibuses which carry about 10
passengers. Taxis are also a very
common form of public transport. There
is currently no rail network.

from 19to -22⁰

agriculture is the main source of food
in Yemen, where the cultivation of
various crops, millet, corn and wheat,
mango, banana, papaya, watermelon
and citrus fruits such as oranges,
lemons and pears, apples, peaches,
grapes, and coffee. Also the animal
resources.

• Actually, most of people here are self-employed in
the field of business, fishery and agriculture.
• However, there are also other employment with
government sector and private sector, and others.
