Why I Started Middle School Essay
Whenever I first began middle school, I was well aware of the new and divergent obstacles I
would come across. The classes would become more advanced, teachers more strict, and lunches
more disgusting. During my 6th grade year, this change became clear. As my homework was piling
up, so was my stress. Balancing school, sports, and family timehad never been an unchallenging
task, but I never have and never will let that be the reason for my grades to drop. The immense
amount of effort I put into school is one consistent quality I possess that will never disintegrate,
as opposed to what one teacher said. Sometime during my 6th grade year, parent teacher
conferences were arriving. I was used to them at this point. I was expecting my mom to come
home from the conference and give me the same report from my teachers as usual that I worked
hard, received good grades, and was a well behaved student. However, this time, I heard entirely
different feedback. When my mom walked into the kitchen that evening, where I was doing
homework, she gave me a funny look. She was grinning, but still looked puzzled.
Minorly concerned, I asked her, How did the parent teacher conferences go?
She quickly responded, Your sisters meetings went great, as usual.
Right after she said that, she went silent. I wondered why she was not mentioning anything about
her meeting with my teacher, Mr. Frick. I became very anxious, even though I could not recall a
time when Mr. Frick had gotten

Rock Fitness Center Executive Summary
The Rock Fitness Center has decided to introduce new programs to appeal to a wider audience,
particularly the Baby Boomers. Our goal is for everyone to be active. Therefore, we have chosen
to offer these new programs, aerobics and strength training, as an incentive for people to want to
begin or continue to exercise. Many people are becoming less active with modern day technology,
but we hope to counteract that trend with our new programs. Particularly, we chose to implement
these programs for the Baby Boomers. It is important to have programs for this age group because
people ages 55 and older are the fastest growing health clubmembership group having increased
411 percent since 1990 (Milbrand 2009). Furthermore, it is important to introduce new programs to
appeal to the baby boomer audience to benefit the gym and the clients.
Aerobics
The first exercise program is aerobics. This program will include water aerobics, step aerobics,
Zumba Gold, and cardio. Each day of the week will be a different aerobics class. On Monday, we
will have the cardio class. On Tuesday, we will have the Zumba Gold class (a milder version of
Zumba). On Thursday, we will have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, exercise is essential to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. As people age, it is becomes
harder to stay healthy and strong. As Davis (2007) includes in the IDEA Fitness Journal, Nearly
half of adults between the ages of 50 and 64 live with at least one chronic condition, such as
arthritis, hypertension, diabetes or heart disease, all of which can be improved through exercise
(IHRSA 2004). Therefore, this aerobics program will be very beneficial to the client s health.
Movement is necessary in living a long healthy life, and that is what this program is all about.
Physical health can add to one s mental health as well. When one is comfortable in his or her own
body, he or she will be more likely to be comfortable in every other aspect of his or her

The Party Goers In The Great Gatsby
The boundless parties of the roaring 1920s reflected the wildness and new wealth being
procured in the vibrant era. In the novel The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, there is a scene
depicting a party at Mr. Jay Gatsby s, an extraordinarily wealthy and mysterious man, in which
the attendees seem to have joyous and exciting lives. However, under the surface their lives hold
little meaning and can be seen as depressing. Fitzgerald uses depictions of the attendees,
descriptions of the food and drink, and setting in order to reveal the dark undertone of the lives
of the upper class. One way in which Fitzgerald brings out the shallowness of the people is by
describing the way they carry themselves. The party goers are said to have enthusiastic meetings in
which they never knew each other s names, implying they never really cared about the people they
were discussing with but only felt the need to be talking to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

To help glamourize the events, Gatsby s servants put up enough colored lights to make a
Christmas tree of Gatsby s enormous garden. The correlation of the lights with the Christmas
tree makes it seem as if every party which Gatsby hosts is a holiday by itself where people are
free to overindulge in a self destructive manner. To gain entrance to these parties, the guests must
go through blue gardens, coming and going like moths among the whisperings and champagne
and the stars. In the way that moths and most insects gravitate towards fire and light in the night,
the guests gravitate towards Gatsby s mansion looking for protection from the darkness in their
lives. The scene of the mansion the day after every party involves servants working all day with
mops and scrubbing brushes. The entire day of work required to cleanse the mansion by a team of
servants exposes how out of control the people are who attend these parties that give no care to the
reckless behavior they

Mist And Saint Manuel, Martyr
La vida es sueГ±o. Life is a dream. This theme, which explores the boundaries of reality, is featured
in two of Spanish writer Miguel de Unamuno s works, Mist and Saint Manuel, Martyr. Published
during the early twentieth century, both works contrast with the absolute realism of Unamuno s
contemporaries. They include elements such as simple characterization, magical realism, and
metafiction. In fact, to first classify Mist, Unamuno coined the nonsense word nivola, as opposed to
the Spanish novela, novel, and in doing so pioneered a new literary genre, of which Mist and Saint
Manuel, Martyr are strong examples.

Native American Culture Research Paper
Native American culture has impacted America in many ways. Just some of these ways include
agriculture, language, and governmental ideas.
About four hundred years ago, when the pilgrims came to America, they met Squanto. After it
became obvious that they were going to struggle to farm, Squanto, a native American who spoke
English, taught them all about how to successfully farm in their homeland (Amenlnckx). Without
Squanto and his tribe, the Pilgrims would have likely starved that winter. Native American culture
is probably best known for its agricultural ideas. The indigenous people of North America have a
deep respect and knowledge for the land. They care for every living thing, and believe that
everything has a purpose. Not only do they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each Native American tribe, also known as a band or a nation, is practically independent
(Gibson). They have their own laws, government, security, and services. This government was
strictly democratic, and all of their meetings were open to everyone (Bjornland 50). Many Native
American tribal systems were, or are, based on written law. This amazing culture is the earliest
surviving governmental tradition in the world that is based on peace (Bjornland 50). Decisions
are made by consensus, or a general agreement, and punishments could be death, depending on the
seriousness of the conflicts (Bjornland 50). The confederation, a group of magic Americans that
worked together for the greater good, was formed due to the fact that the Native Americans were
tired of tribal welfare (Bjornland 50). The League of Nations (also known as the confederation)
consisted of each nation running its own affairs and acting as a whole when dealing with outsiders.
These ideas for a successful government have certainly rubbed off on America. Many people would
agree that the United States government is also based on peace. When faced with the choice of
war or trying to negotiate peace, America will (most) always choose peace. Without this firm belief
in trying to keep the peace, and government, America would be a war country, and could be in

Kazu Ishiguro’s Never Let Me Go
Throughout Kazu Ishiguro s novel Never Let Me Go, he choices to depict children as outsiders to
the world which can be furthered by the setting in Britain s countryside because it helps give a
sense distance from true reality. In the framework throughout his novel Ishiguro focuses on three
main characters Kathy, Ruth, and Tommy. These three students are seen by others to have an
advantage because they were lucky enough to be raised at Hailsham by the guardians. Over the
watchful eye of the Guardians the children were able to grow accustom to being different than
others. This can be seen when the characters all mature and grow after they leave Hailsham and

This was the tipping point for teachers at Hailsham because now their work was in the spotlight
and outsiders did not support their methods. This directly correlates with the closing of Hailsham
because it questions the motives behind schools like Hailsham and their ultimate goal of education.
One major worry for society at this time in the novel is that these cloned children will eventually
replace normal ones in everyday life.
Throughout the novel the fear of the unknown stands outs not just to the outside world and their
perceptions of clones but also the children growing up at Hailsham The most common criticism
that is raised to cloning in general is that it entitles one to start playing God. Throughout the
novel, Ishiguro examines many other ways that individuals might play God. This can be seen
when Chrissie and Rodney try to change their fate by getting a deferral while in return they are
playing God much to the extent the scientists who created them in the first place were. The organ
donation program was started in the first place on the idea that the clones owe their lives to
society, and should be prepared to sacrifice themselves later in their life. Thus at any given time the
clones should be ready for their job which designates them to lose some organ. Madame further

The Problem Of Tyranny
Tyranny Over All
The history of a country is usually deep and complex. This is the same for the United States. The
U.S history is very complex with lots of history, including the making of the U.S constitution. The
making of our rulebook was important because it fixed issues with the Article of Confederation.
But, we needed a way to fix the problem of Tyranny. And they did. I think the Governmentstopped
tyranny by Separating powers, checks and balances, and keeping Voting Amounts inline.
Separating powers was important to stopping tyranny. It stops the Central Government from
regulating in trade business. It stops them from saying STOP TRADE BECAUSE WE WANT
TO! . It also stops the States from starting wars. It stops them from saying WE

How Does Beer Affect Society
Beer
a.Despite the negative connotations that come with the drink today, beer has actually played a
huge role in shaping societies. One example of this takes place with the Sumerian people of
Mesopotamia. Beer drinkers were widely depicted as drinking with a straw, this became a symbol
of hospitality and friendship, the tradition of clinking glasses when sharing alcohol also can be
traced to beer. Another subtle, yet important way that beer contributed to society is that it helped
eliminate the nomadic hunter gathering lifestyle from before.
b.Beer also helped influence the history of some societies. The constant thirst for beer led to the
creation of mash tubs made specifically for creating beer; this in turn allowed people to become
more creative. By adding things such as berries, honey, spices and herbs to the tubs, the beer
altered in taste and thus, became a drink used for different occasions. Egyptian records also refer to
beer as the beautiful and good and the heavenly . Beer was also used in religious ceremonies and
bappir or beer bread, was created and used for food shortages. ... Show more content on

Identity And Ethnic Identity
5. What have you done to learn about different identities and how will you foster a community
that recognizes and appreciates these differences? (please limit answer to 400 words) From the
time I was in preschool until I graduated high school, I was a part of the Hawaiian language
immersion program, or Kula Kaiapuni. This program offers students the opportunity to receive
a public education taught completely in the Hawaiian language. As a Native Hawaiian, I felt it
was necessary for me to complete the program in order for me to connect to my ethnic identity.
In addition to allowing me to become fluent in Hawaiian, this program has taught me the
importance of knowing my peopleК»s history and realizing my responsibility to my people
today. Without this experience, I do not think that I would have such a strong foundation for
and understanding of my identity as I do now. Since I was given this opportunity to form a
strong sense of identity and develop my own personal beliefs from a young age, it has also
taught me to respect the identities and beliefs of others. In the Hawaiian language there is a
saying that goes, Aohe pau ka ike i ka halau hookahi, which translates as, not all knowledge can
be learned in one school. This saying is one of the main ones that we are taught from a young age.
To us, it means that we cannot allow ourselves to become close minded to the opinions or beliefs
of others because something can be learned from each of them. Having a strong

Due to human influence, many we consider native to Bali have been introduced by humans within
the last centuries, making it sometimes hard to distinguish what plants are really native. The most
common larger trees are: banyan trees, jackfruit, coconuts, and bamboo species. The landscape is
also populated with Acadia trees and many varieties of bananas plants. Numerous flowers can be
seen such as hibiscus, frangipani, bougainvillea, poinsettia, oleander, jasmine, roses, begonias,
orchids and hydrangeas. Rice comes in many local varieties. Other plants with agricultural value
include: salak, mangosteen, corn, coffee and water spinach.
History of the school:

alike. They called on Balinese practice PT bamboo pure to work out the technical design aspects of

potential of all its properties to become structural, decorative, recreational, used as flooring, seating,
tables, and several other fixtures. The local vernacular finds a new relationship fused with

The Political Economy Of Communication
The political economy of communication is using political economy approach to analyse the media
and communication. Therefore, before discuss the political economy of communication we need to
figure out what is political economy and what is communication. The definition of political
economy is not simple. This essay uses the definitions given by Vincent Mosco and explores its
origin in Greek and inspiration from the Classical Political Economy. Apart from the Classical
Political Economy, this essay also describes other forms of this approach, such as Critical Political
Economy and Neoclassical Political Economy. Latter the characteristics of political economy study
are also discussed based on Vincent Mosco s work in the 1990s.
The part of communication starts by defining the concept of communication in a political economic
way. To understand deeply the political economy of communication, it is necessary compare it with
culture studies, so this part also explains the similarities and differences between this two studies.
Finally the public television is used as an example to describe the peculiarities of the media and the
political economy of the media.
What is political economy?
At the beginning, the political economy has is origin in Greek. The word economics is composed of
oikos and noms which mean house and law (Mosco, 2009). Therefore, economics is the
management of the household (Mosco, 2009). Political has its origin of polos which means city state

Male Dominance In A Streetcar Named Desire
In numerous relationships between a man and a woman, there is generally a controlling figure
that is dominant above the other. It may be woman over man, man over woman, or in what the
proper definition of a marriage is an equivalent partnership and companionship. In the play A
Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams, Stanley is one example of male dominance;
evidently the more dominate figure over Stella. Throughout the play there are copious examples
of the authority he possesses of her. Williams Portrays Stella as a modest girl who lives around
in Stanley s world. In his perspective he sees Stella as his homemaker, who stays home to prepare
his meals and take care of him. She does what he wants and pleases, obtains his abuse yet loves
him. Stanley extends his dominance over Stella by mistreating and abusing his position and his

It was something to prepare the way for Christ. Because how would people know they needed a
savior from their sin, if they were not aware they were sinners. So, essentially, people were given
a law that they were unable to follow perfectly and they became aware of their guilt when
breaking the law. Hence, the idea of a conscience. I m sure the idea of a conscience preceded the
Jews and probably went along with any group of people that had any kind of social rules.
However, the Jews introduced a complex series of laws that would regulate nearly every aspect
of your life, so the idea of sin became bigger, so the conscience would take on a larger role. So,
one point is that Hitler didn t like to idea of a conscience. So, he targeted the people that

Antibacterial Antibiotics And Its Effects On The Growth...
Antibacterial antibiotics are a substance present in fungi, which inhibits the growth and production
of bacterial infections. The discovery of the first antibiotic, penicillin, was a turning point in
medical history, as illnesses that were once perceived as difficult to treat or even fatal, now had a
possible treatment. After the discovery of penicillin, the misuse and overuse of antibiotics become
common in many different professions. This has resulted in bacteriabecoming less easily detected
due to structural changes, with some even being multi resistant, such as Methicillin resistant
Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Multidrug resistant tuberculosis (MDR TB) and Vancomycin
resistant Staphylococcus aureus (VRSA) (Williams 2014).
Types of antibiotics
Antibiotics were produced in the late 1940s, with 1950s 1970s being the golden age for
discovery of antibiotics and overall, antibiotics are classed into 17 groups, with penicillin and
vancomycin being two different classes of antibiotics (Zuchora Walske 2013). Williams (2014)
states that antibiotics are classified according the mechanism of action, chemical structure or if of
broad or narrow spectrum. Board spectrum antibiotics are effective against multiple types of
bacteria, while narrow spectrum are only effective against specific, i.e. fewer bacteria. A method of
determining antibiotic response to particular bacterium, as well as its cell wall structure is by
Gram staining, which tests the bacteria s cell wall and its

national and state levels. The impact of these two court systems allows for criminal laws to be
imposed by Federal, State and local law enforcement agencies, each with its own jurisdictional

Gun Control Portrayal Analysis
Gun control has been debated in American History for decades yet it still persists today. We need
to take a step back as a nation and examine the driving force behind gun control and gun violence
in America. This is becoming a serious problem, because every mass shooting takes more lives. The
government continues to sit at a standstill with regard to guncontrol. The Republicans have no
desire to restrict Americans second amendment right to bear arms. However, Democrats don t
intend to take away an American s right, they seek to limit and remove high caliberguns from the
market. Americans are on different sides when it comes to gun control, but there are those who
try to push their opinions in different forms. American culture is and always has been
represented through political cartoons. They can say a lot about the illustrator s viewpoints and
how they are representative of America through color and context. The political cartoon I chose

and determined when the routing table for your node was optimum. You can incorporate your
outputs into this document; however, you must identify where in your source code you print the
results required in deliverable 1 above.
This algorithm calculates the shortest path using the bottom up approach. The Bellman Ford
algorithm using a relaxation formula and calculates the path between each edge and iterates for V 1
times using this formula to finally calculate the shortest path. We are assuming that there are no
negative weight cycle in the network.
It starts by calculating the shortest path between one node at first, then it checks for the path
between two nodes, and so on proceeds in each iteration. I have put the outer loop as V 1, where V
is the total number of vertices that is present in the network. In our case, V=6. Therefore, there must
be V 1, which is 5 iterations to obtain the optimal shortest path to each of the node from the source
node.
The below shown highlighted screenshot is the comparison relaxation formula used to check at
each edge.
If we iterate through all the edges one more time, and still get the shortest path, this means that there
is a negative weight cycle in the network. Hence,

Management Philosophy Comparison Management aims to accomplish group purposes with the
least expenditure of material or human resources (Koontz, 1969, p. 415). The term management
philosophy seems almost oxymoronic in that they appear to work toward different results. The goal
of management should be to improve the organization. (Kirkeby, 2000) suggest that the objective of
management has always been the goal of making the group, institution, organization, or nation, into
the strongest organism possible. Triumph, subjugation, gaining strength, and survival are all
priorities of management. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All of these examples and many others function and are produced at a higher rate of efficiently
due to Scientific Management. Frederick W. Taylor born on March 20, 1865 considered the
father of Scientific Management . He strongly campaigned for less human interaction and more
machine driven production, even going on to say In the past the man has been first; in the future
the system must be first (Worthy, 1959, p. 73). One of the driving factors for Taylor s scientific
management was that he believed the industrial management of his day was run by individuals
that had no professional amplitude Deming suggested that management could be formulated as an
academic discipline, and that the best results would come from the partnership between a trained
and qualified management and a cooperative and innovative workforce (Weisbord, 1987, p. 9).
Taylorism became the first big management fad. Taylor s scientific management consisted of four
principles (Weisbord, 1987): 1. Replace rule of thumb work methods with methods based on a
scientific study of the tasks. 2. Scientifically select, train, and develop each employee rather than
passively leaving them to train themselves. 3. Provide detailed instruction and supervision of each
worker in the performance of that worker s discrete task. 4. Divide work equally between managers
and workers, so that the managers apply scientific management principles to planning the work and

Essay on The Most Common Types of Systems Access Controls
The most common types of systems access controls
Access control requires unique user identification, emergency access procedure, automatic log off,
and encryption and decryption of data. In order to maintain confidentiality, integrity and availability
of data, it is important to control access to the information system. Controls prevent unauthorized
users from accessing the system and/or altering data. They also prevent authorized users from

Inadequately secured wireless communication
Wireless security isn t just a big issue for control systems, but for all uses, mainly because wireless
is becoming so pervasive, says Staggs. It s very easy to plug wireless in almost anywhere. However,
you have to be able to find the signals and know if someone has put in a rogue point.
Before installing wireless, it s important to do a complete assessment to identify the best areas for
wireless use and ensure that leakage out of the plant is minimized. There will be a wireless
leakage when you have transmitters or wireless enabled workers walking around with tablet PCs or
handheld devices. Those devices may be transmitting in an area outside a plant.
Solution can be separation by segmenting the wireless networks from the rest of the control
network. Additionally, it is strongly advisable to secure wireless access methods to include
requiring authentication and enforcing strict access controls for communications leading from the
wireless network into the rest of the control network.

Even after the break up both Syed and Lee were still good friends (Episode 1). When law

The Tasks Of A Freelancer
As 16th April is observed as Stress Awareness Day and April as Stress Awareness Month, I wish
to share a few tips that can help you all, specifically freelancers, to lead a stress free and happy
life. Nevertheless, stress is often contemplated as negative feeling, but preparing yourself to
reducing and pacing with it is the gateway to many great opportunities.
The tasks of a freelancer, is a slackly defined amalgam of projects, tasks, time, and a plethora of
other responsibilities to stretch you in all direction possible. There are times, it often happens to
me, when it all gets too much to handle and you burry under the weight of what seems to be almost
impossible. Any freelancer at some stage of his/her career is going to encounter such situation. But
such moments of anxiety are like water bubbles which fade away instantly. To alleviate stress and
remain focused on your business you can do a lot in your daily life. Here are some tips that have
always worked as panacea for me.
1. Optimistic Thinking: Positive thinking is a powerful weapon in weeding out the negative vibes.
Going Orwellian is not the solution, it means you appropriately address the negative and emphasize
the positive.
2. Take it lightly: Most of your worries are not within your control, especially if you are a
freelancer. Let the worries go. There is no point of worrying over something that is beyond your
territory.
3. Relax: Take time off your schedule to learn some relaxation techniques and

The Effects Of Media Violence On Behavioral Violence
The Effects of Media Violence on Behavioral Violence in Young Adults in America The influence of
mass media has progressively increased in American society, but can the media have effects beyond
mere entertainment and impartial information? American culture has become saturated with online
news reports, social media, and media entertainment. Technology has become a major factor in
America s social environment. Much of the information gained from digital sources involves or
portrays violence, and many social scientists have concluded that exposure to these portrayals
may influence some individuals to behave violently. There is evidence that consistent exposure to
violence can lead audience members to accept violence as normative, and adopt the behavior into
their own lives (Surette, 2013, p. 393). However, researchers have also shown that the media is
only one factor in behavior, and that it may not be the cause of violence (Black et al., 2016, p.
197). Other researchers support the theory that the benefit of using the media to fight violence
outweighs any negative effect from it (Flexon, 2009, p. 608). Understanding violence is a complex,
multi faceted process, and all of these viewpoints must be acknowledged in order to understand the
relationship between violent behavior in the media and violent behavior in individuals.
Introduction to Violence Violence is usually thought of as an aggressive act, but it involves more
than just physical action. Violence is a physical

Analysis Of Her Mistress s Clothes By Harriet Cany Peale
Her Mistress s Clothes by Harriet Cany Peale is a wonderful example of a composition that
identifies African American and Anglo Saxon women in 1848, displaying the difference of race
and their identities within this period.
Cany Peale s painting shows an Anglo Saxon woman engaging with an African American woman, at
first glance, one could assume this is a genre painting, that of a peaceful scene demonstrating people
in everyday activities ( Genre Painting ). Two women intimately engaging in a grooming ritual
(Byrd) however this thought is fractured as you see the controlling way the Anglo Saxon woman
holds the bottom of the African American woman s face as she gazes upon herself in the mirror. A
spectacle of power and control that is further illustrated as the Anglo Saxon woman stands slightly
taller than the African American, demonstrating the hierarchy and to establishing their identities as
Mistress and slave.
The slave is compositionally arranged in front of the Mistress in a predominant position,
however as noted in our text this week, most of the slaves placed in the foreground of a painting
in this era were done so in humor, to tease or to make them look immature (Pohl 278). As the title
suggests, this slave has been dressed up by her Mistress in her Mistress s clothing as a way for the
Mistress to make fun of the slave, teasing her with a taste of wealth and upper class. Cany Peale s
previous career in fancy goods gave her the understanding of what was in fashion

The Importance Of Ideas In The Great Gatsby
The Great Gatsby, written by F. Scott Fitzgerald in the 1920 s, explores the significance of ideals
and how working to achieve them can structure one s life. The Novel centers around an egocentric,
rich and materialistic group of characters who all share a common value of wealth. However, the
character Jay Gatsby, values love more than he values money. Gatsby believes that being with the
women he loves, Daisy, the wife of the wealthy Tom Buchanan will make him feel as though he
has fulfilled his life. Gatsby s childhood and past have allowed him to realize what he wants most
in life, and how he is willing to go to extreme measures to achieve his goals. He dedicates his life
to renewing his love with Daisy. The immense effort that he puts into achieving his ideal doesn t
allow him to see some of the lousy qualities that daisy possesses. Fitzgerald uses Jay Gatsby to
demonstrate how personal experiences can create an ideal, and how pursuing that ideal can shape
one s character and structure an individual s life.
Gatsby s childhood experiences have taught him how important it is to achieve his goals. His
experiences created a hard working, work ethic and made him realize that he s willing to sacrifice
almost anything when pursuing his ideals. Jimmy Gatz, Jay Gatsby s original name symbolizes his

Trust has multiple definitions, but when I think about trust, always coming through, and being
trustworthy are the first ideas that come to mind. Most importantly, Trust can be defined as someone
you can tell anything to. You can have trust with your family, friends and relatives. People may see
trust differently based on past experiences or events. For example, someone who has trustworthy
friends who tends to keep secret information secret, might view trustpositively. But, someone who
has friends that can t keep secrets, and tells everything they hear might view trust in a negative

There are many different form of trust that can expand our expectations and deepen our views.
The trust you have with your parents may be very similar for the trust you have with your
siblings. As a young child you mainly only trust your parents, who provides you with food,
shelter, clothing and extra wants. As a child you are helpless, leaving your trust in your parents,
to provide you with basic needs to be healthy, is what I believe the child s first trust instinct is.
Next, as you get older and begin play with your siblings, you start to rely on them to keep you
safe. You trust that they will keep you out of the street, when you are playing in the front yard or
not let you get lost in the grocery store while your parents are shopping. You trust your siblings
just as much as your parents to provide you with safety, fun and needs. Then, you experience trust
with your friends. This can be shown by relying on each other, keeping each other safe and
believing that they will be there for you when you need it most. As you grow older, trust grows to
new expectations forcing you to constantly learn. The different types of trust we experiences
teaches us different life lessons that stays with us forever. Throughout our lives, everyone wants to

The Hero Of The Odyssey By Homer, Louis Zamperini, And The...
The trait of heroism is something that has changed over thousands of years. Today s heros have
different traits than those heroes of the Trojan War. However, a few have survived the test of time.
Many of modern day heroes, as well as past heroes, do hold these long enduring traits, like Nelson
Mandela, Marcus Luttrell, Louis Zamperini, and the fictional Iron Man. Odysseus, the main
character in The Odysseyby Homer, portrays the traits necessary to be dubbed a hero. One is a hero
if he or she shows leadership, bravery, resilience, and creativity throughout their actions.
Throughout the novel, Odysseus shows leadership as he sails over the oceans with his crew.
For example, the crew must pass the massive whirlpool Charybdis and the six headed monster
Scylla. The monster will eat six men per ship. Odysseus knows that six men will die if they pass
too close to Scylla, or Charybdis will devour the whole ship and crew. Odysseus, the leader of
the crew, makes a decision that will benefit his crews mission. He motivates his men by assuring
this danger is no worse than what we faced before (12:227). His leadership creates a courageous
atmosphere that triumphs the fear in the hearts of his men. His men row on, despite the fear,

Dark Triad In The Workplace
There is an increased interest for the impact of the Dark Triad in the workplace. How does one
spot these type of traits? Machiavellians are very skilled socially. They exhibit behaviors and
actions that seem to benefit those around them. However, the motivation is one of self gain. In
the workplace, this puts a Machiavellian at a disadvantage in teamwork and performance (Smith,
Wallace Jordan, 2016). Narcissists in the workplace are very competitive, take risks, and are very
opportunistic. They may have delusions of grandeur. Taking risks can be beneficial. For the
narcissist, the risks may be unnecessary and follows the high risk high reward principle (Smith,
Wallace Jordan, 2016). These types of people can look at their co workers

Class Conflict In Grapes Of Wrath
Kelsie Kimbrough
Kleyn
AP English Literature/ Period
4 August 2017
In the Midst of Hopelessness
John Steinbeck s novel, The Grapes of Wrath, takes place during the Great Depression, a time
when troubled and distressed American men and women lived; a time of poverty and an economic
crisis. When change is thought upon, it is to be thought of new life and new experiences. The Great
Depression is the kind of change that replaces a part of American living with Somepin s
happening. I went up an I looked, an the houses is all empty, an the lan is empty, an this whole
country is empty ( Steinbeck 94). In his work, Steinbeck presents the hardships that Americans had
to go through by being mindful of particular aspects which makes the reader understand the
characters distress. For example, the landscape of the farm lands. Even though the land has its
brutality, it grows to be the scenery for humans to be able to recognize and consider their troubles
about work and life in general. With these concerns, there are differences between the people who
are accustomed to the landscape and admire it, and those who do not agree with it. In the novel,
Steinbeck uses attributes of class conflict and injustice as a way of presenting and socially
commenting that the Great Depression brought attention to more problems beyond the idea of
poverty.
The class conflict between the poverty stricken migrants and the settled, assured business occupied
Californians make for a powerful analysis

The Rhetorical Analysis Of A Presidential Candidate By...
Samuel Langhorne Clemens better known by the name Mark Twain, was an American writer,
humorist, entrepreneur, publisher, and lecturer. Twain was raised in Hannibal, Missouri, and served
an apprenticeship with a printer and then worked as a typesetter, contributing articles to the
newspaper of his older brother Orion Clemens. He became nothing less than a national treasure. He
captured a world audience with stories of boyhood adventure and with commentary on man s faults
that is humorous even while it probes the roots of human behavior. One of his most famous essays
(satire) that I will analyze is, A Presidential Candidate , which was written on June 9th, 1879, in
which he evokes a sarcastic tone to mock presidential candidates by using syntax, diction, irony, and
examples from his own past.
In his work, he embodies the characteristic of honesty, which is uncommon among candidates.
His main purpose was to categorize politicians as inhumane people. He believes they are
untruthful, cowardly individuals because they disguise themselves and attempt to hide their
guilt. He begins the essay by saying he has made up his mind about running for President. But
unlike the others, he is going to, ...own up in advance to all the wickedness I have done, and if
any Congressional committee is disposed to prowl around my biography in the hope of
discovering any dark and deadly deed that I have secreted, why let it prowl (para.1). He sought to
dive into the election as an open book,

Death Is Not Master By Thomas Miller
Let them die They want eternity In May Miller s Poem Death is not Master the persona explains
that death is not the master that will increase the desperation but it is a way to become eternally
calm. Many poems on the topic of death explain how it is as powerful of a thing that fears the
existence of human beings, but Miller s persona death is a way to achieve eternal serenity. She
explains death as something that can end all the worldly tears, desires and tension and transform
the human memory into a sculpture which is unaware of tensions. Miller s persona believes that
blocking death will be unfair as it will be a barrier to the everlasting happiness and calmness that
lies inside the grave. Miller s persona is an elaboration of Christian beliefs that death ends all
worldly problems as an eternal life starts after the death. The eternal life of a human or corpse
after death is same as that of sculpture which shines at night and remain in one place free of all
tensions and problems. As the life after death is full of calmness and happiness, so it must not
be blocked and everyone must welcome it to gain the everlasting lasting life. Thus, in Miller s
perspective death is not the master; instead, it is the slave of eternal life of serenity and calmness
that lies ahead. So, no one should try to become a barrier by blocking the death. Repetition of you
six times and I three times creates the relationship between I and You who love each other a lot and
never want

China s Economic Development Through Experiments With...
Deng Xiaoping was one the the Chinese Communist Party leaders. His goal for China was to get it
back on the right path, which was economic development within the country. China s economic
development has abruptly stopped under the leadership of Mao Zedong. Deng Xiaoping said
practice is the sole criterion of truth . His mindset was that by practicing and experimenting with
different forms of production and ideas for entrepreneurship, China would be successful in finding
their way back to economic development. This started China s path to economic development
through experiments with capitalist methods of production. Thee Four Modernizations were goals
that were set by Shou Enlai first, in 1963, but they were later enacted by Deng Xiaoping in 1978.
These goals were set in order to strengthen the fields of agriculture, industry, national defense, and
science and technology in China. They were enacted in hope of saving China s economy, following
the death of Mao Zedong. These reforms stressed economic self reliance. They wanted China to
have a sense of stability in their economy, while being independent at the same time. The Four
Modernizations were designed to make China an economic power by the early 21st century. China
was, in fact, able to hurry along their economic development with the help of these reforms. China
used foreign investment, a more open market, access to advanced technologies and management
experience. Deng was basically making all of the decisions for

  • 2. Why I Started Middle School Essay Whenever I first began middle school, I was well aware of the new and divergent obstacles I would come across. The classes would become more advanced, teachers more strict, and lunches more disgusting. During my 6th grade year, this change became clear. As my homework was piling up, so was my stress. Balancing school, sports, and family timehad never been an unchallenging task, but I never have and never will let that be the reason for my grades to drop. The immense amount of effort I put into school is one consistent quality I possess that will never disintegrate, as opposed to what one teacher said. Sometime during my 6th grade year, parent teacher conferences were arriving. I was used to them at this point. I was expecting my mom to come home from the conference and give me the same report from my teachers as usual that I worked hard, received good grades, and was a well behaved student. However, this time, I heard entirely different feedback. When my mom walked into the kitchen that evening, where I was doing homework, she gave me a funny look. She was grinning, but still looked puzzled. Minorly concerned, I asked her, How did the parent teacher conferences go? She quickly responded, Your sisters meetings went great, as usual. Right after she said that, she went silent. I wondered why she was not mentioning anything about her meeting with my teacher, Mr. Frick. I became very anxious, even though I could not recall a time when Mr. Frick had gotten ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Rock Fitness Center Executive Summary The Rock Fitness Center has decided to introduce new programs to appeal to a wider audience, particularly the Baby Boomers. Our goal is for everyone to be active. Therefore, we have chosen to offer these new programs, aerobics and strength training, as an incentive for people to want to begin or continue to exercise. Many people are becoming less active with modern day technology, but we hope to counteract that trend with our new programs. Particularly, we chose to implement these programs for the Baby Boomers. It is important to have programs for this age group because people ages 55 and older are the fastest growing health clubmembership group having increased 411 percent since 1990 (Milbrand 2009). Furthermore, it is important to introduce new programs to appeal to the baby boomer audience to benefit the gym and the clients. Aerobics The first exercise program is aerobics. This program will include water aerobics, step aerobics, Zumba Gold, and cardio. Each day of the week will be a different aerobics class. On Monday, we will have the cardio class. On Tuesday, we will have the Zumba Gold class (a milder version of Zumba). On Thursday, we will have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Scott Fitzgerald, there is a scene depicting a party at Mr. Jay Gatsby s, an extraordinarily wealthy and mysterious man, in which the attendees seem to have joyous and exciting lives. However, under the surface their lives hold little meaning and can be seen as depressing. Fitzgerald uses depictions of the attendees, descriptions of the food and drink, and setting in order to reveal the dark undertone of the lives of the upper class. One way in which Fitzgerald brings out the shallowness of the people is by describing the way they carry themselves. The party goers are said to have enthusiastic meetings in which they never knew each other s names, implying they never really cared about the people they were discussing with but only felt the need to be talking to... To gain entrance to these parties, the guests must go through blue gardens, coming and going like moths among the whisperings and champagne and the stars. In the way that moths and most insects gravitate towards fire and light in the night, the guests gravitate towards Gatsby s mansion looking for protection from the darkness in their lives. Decisions are made by consensus, or a general agreement, and punishments could be death, depending on the seriousness of the conflicts (Bjornland 50). The confederation, a group of magic Americans that worked together for the greater good, was formed due to the fact that the Native Americans were tired of tribal welfare (Bjornland 50). The League of Nations (also known as the confederation) consisted of each nation running its own affairs and acting as a whole when dealing with outsiders. One example of this takes place with the Sumerian people of Mesopotamia. Beer drinkers were widely depicted as drinking with a straw, this became a symbol of hospitality and friendship, the tradition of clinking glasses when sharing alcohol also can be traced to beer. Another subtle, yet important way that beer contributed to society is that it helped eliminate the nomadic hunter gathering lifestyle from before. b.Beer also helped influence the history of some societies. The constant thirst for beer led to the creation of mash tubs made specifically for creating beer; this in turn allowed people to become more creative. By adding things such as berries, honey, spices and herbs to the tubs, the beer altered in taste and thus, became a drink used for different occasions. The discovery of the first antibiotic, penicillin, was a turning point in medical history, as illnesses that were once perceived as difficult to treat or even fatal, now had a possible treatment. After the discovery of penicillin, the misuse and overuse of antibiotics become common in many different professions. This has resulted in bacteriabecoming less easily detected due to structural changes, with some even being multi resistant, such as Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Multidrug resistant tuberculosis (MDR TB) and Vancomycin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (VRSA) (Williams 2014). • 30. The Effects Of Media Violence On Behavioral Violence The Effects of Media Violence on Behavioral Violence in Young Adults in America The influence of mass media has progressively increased in American society, but can the media have effects beyond mere entertainment and impartial information? American culture has become saturated with online news reports, social media, and media entertainment. Technology has become a major factor in America s social environment. Much of the information gained from digital sources involves or portrays violence, and many social scientists have concluded that exposure to these portrayals may influence some individuals to behave violently. There is evidence that consistent exposure to violence can lead audience members to accept violence as normative, and adopt the behavior into their own lives (Surette, 2013, p. 393). However, researchers have also shown that the media is only one factor in behavior, and that it may not be the cause of violence (Black et al., 2016, p. 197). Other researchers support the theory that the benefit of using the media to fight violence outweighs any negative effect from it (Flexon, 2009, p. 608). Understanding violence is a complex, multi faceted process, and all of these viewpoints must be acknowledged in order to understand the relationship between violent behavior in the media and violent behavior in individuals. Analysis Of Her Mistress s Clothes By Harriet Cany Peale Her Mistress s Clothes by Harriet Cany Peale is a wonderful example of a composition that identifies African American and Anglo Saxon women in 1848, displaying the difference of race and their identities within this period. Cany Peale s painting shows an Anglo Saxon woman engaging with an African American woman, at first glance, one could assume this is a genre painting, that of a peaceful scene demonstrating people in everyday activities ( Genre Painting ). Two women intimately engaging in a grooming ritual (Byrd) however this thought is fractured as you see the controlling way the Anglo Saxon woman holds the bottom of the African American woman s face as she gazes upon herself in the mirror. A spectacle of power and control that is further illustrated as the Anglo Saxon woman stands slightly taller than the African American, demonstrating the hierarchy and to establishing their identities as Mistress and slave. The slave is compositionally arranged in front of the Mistress in a predominant position, however as noted in our text this week, most of the slaves placed in the foreground of a painting in this era were done so in humor, to tease or to make them look immature (Pohl 278). Odysseus, the main character in The Odysseyby Homer, portrays the traits necessary to be dubbed a hero. One is a hero if he or she shows leadership, bravery, resilience, and creativity throughout their actions. Throughout the novel, Odysseus shows leadership as he sails over the oceans with his crew. For example, the crew must pass the massive whirlpool Charybdis and the six headed monster Scylla. The monster will eat six men per ship. Odysseus knows that six men will die if they pass too close to Scylla, or Charybdis will devour the whole ship and crew. Odysseus, the leader of the crew, makes a decision that will benefit his crews mission. He motivates his men by assuring this danger is no worse than what we faced before (12:227). When change is thought upon, it is to be thought of new life and new experiences. The Great Depression is the kind of change that replaces a part of American living with Somepin s happening. I went up an I looked, an the houses is all empty, an the lan is empty, an this whole country is empty ( Steinbeck 94). In his work, Steinbeck presents the hardships that Americans had to go through by being mindful of particular aspects which makes the reader understand the characters distress. Even though the land has its brutality, it grows to be the scenery for humans to be able to recognize and consider their troubles about work and life in general. • 46. Death Is Not Master By Thomas Miller Let them die They want eternity In May Miller s Poem Death is not Master the persona explains that death is not the master that will increase the desperation but it is a way to become eternally calm. Many poems on the topic of death explain how it is as powerful of a thing that fears the existence of human beings, but Miller s persona death is a way to achieve eternal serenity. She explains death as something that can end all the worldly tears, desires and tension and transform the human memory into a sculpture which is unaware of tensions. Miller s persona believes that blocking death will be unfair as it will be a barrier to the everlasting happiness and calmness that lies inside the grave. Miller s persona is an elaboration of Christian beliefs that death ends all worldly problems as an eternal life starts after the death. The eternal life of a human or corpse after death is same as that of sculpture which shines at night and remain in one place free of all tensions and problems. As the life after death is full of calmness and happiness, so it must not be blocked and everyone must welcome it to gain the everlasting lasting life. Thus, in Miller s perspective death is not the master; instead, it is the slave of eternal life of serenity and calmness that lies ahead.
